Windows 7 boot error 0xc000000f

I just bought my wife a new laptop with windows 7 home Premium when it opened on Christmas day and has tried to show it was windows update 7 with 76 updates!  When the computer has been restarted I got the above error status: 0cx000000f the selection of start inaccissible!  Since I tried to launch the factory restore came preinstalled it on the hard drive and it happens to step 5 programs of restoration and stays there for hours with the hard drive led constantly lit!  The laptop came without the disc!  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves.

1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

Note: You must have run the removal tool before installing Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). Seehttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/msestart/thread/bf757e6a-e320-4a67-92bc-767e6acb26c4

4 reset the IE8 advanced settings by http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Reset-Internet-Explorer-settings

5. open IE8 32 bit (only!) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 [ignore the section will APPLY to] & run it in DEFAULT and modes difficulty then AGGRESSIVE. [1]

6. restart a last time & test. Make absolutely certain that you can update MSE manually!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[1] full Disclosure: the difficulty operating in AGGRESSIVE mode will remove your update history but not the list of installed updates.
  • Windows 8.1 no boot with error 0xc000000f
    Yesterday, I was watching a video and my windows suddenly began trolling. After awhile, I got a message saying that windows has problems and that I should raise them in a small window as it does when a program is not responding. After a few minutes, he tried to restart Explorer (btw my wifi did not work for 5 minutes before that). Finally he stopped and when I tried to start it I got the error 0xc000000f. I used my DVD of windows to try to fix them, but he was stuck in repair disk errors for about 6 hours with no result. I stopped and made a hard disk self test. The rapid stopped at 1% and says replace disk 1. The full test don't even have 1%, then said the same thing. Please help me!
    Hello
    For a better understanding of the question, I would like to know what is the brand and model of the computer?
    0xc000000f error indicates that the boot selection failed because a required device is not accessible. This problem may be caused because of damaged files.
    As the HDD test failed with the error "Replacement hard drive", I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of the computer and test the hard drive if it does not work properly or not.
    Hope this information helps. Reply to the post with the results of the test of hard disk to help you further.
  • I am receiveing a startup error.__File: Boot\BCD__Status: 0xc000000f
    I have a gateway DX4720-03 with no changes with respect to the material.
    He came out of the box with Windows Vista 64 installed.
    I get the boot\bcd error 0xc000000f
    I can boot from the recovery disc and the System Recovery Options.
    It shows not all operating systems to repair.  He asked the drivers to load to load the drivers for your hard drives.
    When I click to load the drivers it shows the startup disk (x) disc, but all the other disks are removable with nothing in it.  My hard drive is not displayed.
    I checked the BIOS and it recognizes the hard disk.
    I tried chkdsk in command prompt, but since it is not at all recognize the drive I could not figure out.
    I would like to launch a program to be able to check my drive hard, but without being able to get into windows don't know how to do in this regard.
    When I plug in my external hard drive it recognizes him as the C: drive which I thought it was a little weird, as a removable disk.
    Any thoughts on how to solve this problem would be wonderful.
    The problem is that the partition with the operating system does not appear in the recovery options.  That's the problem I'm having.  Right now I wipe my hard drive clean and completely restore factory default.  I supported everything every week so I shouldn't lose to much information.
    1. How have you installed Windows Vista? Is it pre-installed?
    2. using Windows Vista CD or DVD?
    If you can organize an another DVD of Windows Vista, then use it and check if you can load from disk.
    Here's what I did: under the opening of proceedings (F12) to drive recovery HARD, I entered "repair your computer" and then computer show the error 0xc000000f. It came at the very end when I 'C' boot from CD/DVD with windows Vista recovery.
    Hello
    As far as I know, you have to press F8 to start the HARD drive recovery process.
    Then a new menu will appear where you can choose repair my computer.
    Then, you choose the HARD drive recovery.
    If this is not possible, that it would mean that there is something wrong with the HARD drive or the partition that contains the files / image of HARD drive recovery.
    This might explain why the boot from the CD/DVD drive is not possible.
    Conversely a failure of RAM could be the reason too.
    That's why it of needed to check if these parts.
    By the way; are you able to boot from an another disc bootable Win XP or Linux live CD?
  • El Capitan and Windows 10 Boot Camp Assistant
    Hi, this is my first post so apologies if I've left out anything important. Let me know and I'll add the necessary details.
    Fast, I have been using Windows for years and I wanted to get into Apple and finally last month made the leap. I have a brand new MacBook Pro with 16 GB of RAM El Capitan - 10.11.4 running. However, I am having a lot of problems with the creation and installation of 10 Windows using Boot Camp.
    I had this work with Windows 10 times but made some fundamental mistakes. I resized the partition windows using a windows product so that I could add another partition. This seemed to work and I used it for a short time BUT when I tried to boot into El Capitan would not and that it would only boot Windows. After reading on what I see now that resize the windows from windows under Boot Camp partition is a no-no. lesson learned!
    To actually do things once again, I removed the windows partitions using disk utility. (Again I see now that it is an another no-no that I'd
    used Boot Camp Assistant to remove Windows!) Eventually however, I managed to get to El Capitan, working on the single partition, it is now again works fine and as far as I can tell without any problem.
    After having to go that if I went back to load 10 Windows using Boot Camp. All works until the final start in the section windows it:
    • Creates the separate windows partition
    • Load the ISO file
    • The Windows Support Tools downloads
    • Runs the ISO file and everything looks good... see below: (apologies for the poor quality of the screenshots)
    Then, during 'Finish Up', I get an error window:
    "Windows has no prepare the computer to start the next phase of the installation." To install Windows restart installation. »
    I tried many things such as to download the Windows ISO file again, running SNC and LANDAU after removing the Windows partition using Boot Camp Assistant and ensure that all other connections to the MBP is deleted except WiFi and get always the same message. As the whole process takes a few hours and tried to work through this for some days now, I would really appreciate some advice/help here for this issue very frustrating sorted.
    Thanks in advance
    Ian
    OSX backup via TM boot in the recovery of the Internet, erase your entire internal drive, restore the TM backup, run SMC/NVRAM reset and try to re - install W10.
    Your problem with remainders of W10 floating outside the Bootcamp partition, which cannot be properly cleaned when THE is used to delete a partition.
