Windows 7 - connected to wireless but no Internet access

I understand that this has been asked before and there are many "solutions" posted on different forums that are not relevant to my problem or simply do not work.

A few weeks back, I was on vacation, my daughter called to ask if I had cut the internet router and BT Hub as she was not able to connect to the internet. It had been fine the day before. I didn't and I couldn't do a lot the lot so said I would sort when I got home.

I just spent the better part of a week trying to access the internet on his laptop, a Toshiba running Windows 7. I know that the internet and wireless works perfectly as his cell phone is sitting right next to my Sony Vaio running Windows 8. Also, my Sky TV, Kindle, Iphone and iPad to my wife connect seamlessly. It would seem that the possible culprit is a Windows Update which took place on 31 August. I tried to go back to her but she was advised by a friend to uninstall the update and she tried to make a file at the same time and now the reversion will not work.

When the laptop starts up, until I connect, there is a dialog box indicating a wireless connection and correct network is listed.

However, after I connected, even if the wireless connection is still showing as a good signal and 'Connected', it is currently connected to: section shows network not identified; No Internet access.

I ran the gamut of the instructions in uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers of network, playing with the settings of Virtual WiFi miniport and almost everything that is proposed on the other forums but not luck so far.

All I know is that someone will want to see the command ipconfig/all results so here they are. I removed the spaces in line to get them on a single page.

Short using 'rebuild the hard drive' Toshiba, I am now at a loss to know what to do. I would also like to know WHY this happened and how it could be avoided in the future.

Any constructive help appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    Hello

First update the BIOS and update the Wlan card driver.

Here you will find the latest Wlan drivers:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

Then, you must set the settings on Protocol TCP/IP of the WLan card to automatic.
The IP address, a DNS SERVER must be assigned automatically

  • Connected to wifi but not internet access and the unidentified network

I can't connect to internet, I need quick help.

    Hello

This screen that you took the photo, there should be a small link somewhere that says "view log" you can copy the text of the log file and send it to me?

In this photo, however, the only thing I see is Homegroup questions, which are not generally associated with internet connectivity... but who knows?

You can try to manually start the Homegroup provider service. To do this, go to the search box of the start menu and type services.msc and press ENTER. Find the services marked "Homegroup Provider Service" and "Listener Homegroup" Double click on each one and set to automatic startup type. Restart your computer. Let me know how it goes.

One more thing to try is to clear your cache of DNS resolution. At the beginning of the search box go menu, type cmd and press to enter. Type ipconfig/flushdns press on enter, and then restart your computer.

    I hope this helps!

  • Can connect to wireless but no internet server

On some, but not all, wireless networks, I can connect to the server, but not to the internet.  I have a Windows Vista Toshiba laptop.  I also have problems with a runtime dll error that I can't fix.  It could be related?  Does anyone know how to fix a problem?  It doesn't seem to be a mistake Winsock from what I can tell.  When I go to the network and sharing Center, the small map shows that I am connected to the network, but there is a big red x on the connection to the internet.  When I click on diagnose and repair, he says: it can not solve the problem.  My daughter has an identical computer and no connection problem.

    Hi montzingo,

    1. what the network installation?
    2. When you receive the rundll error message?

    Method 1

Check if Device Manager wireless network adapter works properly or needs an update.

    1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel
    2. Click on system and Maintenance and then click Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    Method 2

In many cases, the security software installed on the computer create conflicts between connections, I would suggest that you disable the security software on the computer and check if it works.
Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 3

Updated the driver for wireless network for the last card by visiting the website of its manufacturer.

  • VPN connected to Pix but no Internet access after login

    Hello

We just changed on our firewall in a Pix 515. The VPN Client (4.6) was set up and remote users can connect ok, and authenticate with IAS in Windows. However, once that they connect to the VPN they can't surf the internet. Our support company say that this is impossible because it can cause the usurpation. Is - this really impossible on the Pix? Is it possible that the remote user can surf the internet through their local connection when it is connected to the VPN?

Thank you very much for looking.

    PJ.

    Hello

It is possible to connect via the client VPN Cisco to keep internet usage. You must use what is called the split tunneling. Below you will find a link how to set up the split tunneling:

  • BlackBerry smartphones none given don't Plan - connected to wifi but not Internet access?

    Hi all!

I am a new Blackberry owner.  I have a Blackberry Bold 9700, and I use AT & T.  I don't have a data plan, so I chose this phone so I can use the internet in Wi - Fi areas.  I am currently in a WiFi area, and my phone says I'm connected.  However, when I try to open the web browser, it says "cannot connect to the Internet, please try again later."  Is it a common problem with a quick fix?  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Thank you!

With OS6, you cannot set the browser to be just a HotSpot browser. You can do within OS5.

Well, IF you are connected to a WiFi hotspot, your device will use the browser and that's it, not much else. Some applications like Opera Mini and Pandora radio will work on a single WiFi.

  • Work wireless, but not Internet

I use a WRT54G Router.  I am able to connect to my home network via the wireless but no Internet on any of my wireless devices.  It works only via Ethernet.  The firmware version is v3.01.3.  Any ideas what I did wrong?

Hi mullahraheil, to properly isolate the problem, try changing the name of the network wireless and communication channels. Try the channels 11,9,3 or 1. Try to reconnect. If the same persists, you need to maybe do a hard reset on the device and reinstall it from scratch.

To make the correct reset, please press the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds when the unit is turned on. Unplug the unit. Reinstall everything from scratch. Hope that helps.

  • Ethernet or wireless is connected but no Internet access

My laptop OS is Win 7 64 bit. My laptop able to connect to the internet, but it suddenly can't connect to the internet via the Ethernet or wireless. I tried to system restore and it worked fine, but after I stopped, the problem was took place again. I don't know if because of the McAfee antivirus or window updates because it has some errors (to McAfee) and Skype has been updated before I had this problem (no internet access).

McAfee has been updated at the same time as the last batch of updates from Windows 7 and this is the cause of problems of internet connection for most, if not all, users of McAfee.

See the communication from this "criticism" - McAfee

Some customers may experience a loss of network connectivity and/or errors in McAfee Security Center after a recent update

You should make the fix McAfee, if necessary. There are corresponding communications for their enterprise products.

  • loss of internet connection on windows 7 pro 64. Says connected but no internet access with yellow exclamation point! Help, please!

I keep losing internet connection, I have windows 7 and every time I connect it to the wireless internet works for 5 minutes, then a little ytellow icon pop up and say its connected without internet access. Its happened to me before and recently started happening to my cpu. I did a FRESH install of windows to see if it can help, but it didn't. IM literally on the point of throwing my processor through the cause of wall, I can't find a solution to this anywhere. Whenever the yellow icon pops up that I have troubleshoot and it indicates the default gateway was unavailable and that fixed it, then I have internet again for about 2-5 minutes and it does the same thing. Ive never had this problem on my cpu and the network has not been changed or anything, so I don't know what that the * could cause this. I literally wiped everything on my cpu and then do a system image to restore too. Ive been messing around with the registry, deletion of things here and there missions that I read, but only thing that happens is losing internet alltogether and must restore from system image. I'm really running out of ideas. Help, please. I have an adapter netgear wn311b wireless pci-express with the latest drivers.

to detect new updates for network based components on intel:

    http://www.Intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/?IID=subhdr+dnlds_detect

You will be asked to download and install active x components.

After the installation of the small file, click on the "expand all" button

You can choose to update your components wired network if necessary.

then re-install your wireless network management software.

assuming that your wireless network is intact (connected, permits), you can surf the net.

If the problem persists, troubleshoot more away:

When the computer is turned off, set again you netgear pci wireless adapter.

set of antenna for optimal orientation.

Check if your computer is authorized by your wireless router.

check the signal strength of your wireless router and the wireless pci adapter.

  • WRT1900AC shows connected to the laptop wireless, but 'NO internet Connection' triangle

recently replaced EA3500 Cisco that quit smoking with WRT1900AC

DOES not connect to win 7 PC... worked fine with the old router (2 years)

reset the WRT1900AC to factory settings... allowed 2.4 and 5 ghz...

PC sees the wireless network and connects with password, still "NO internet connection".

    any ideas?

    Thank you waltinbatonrouge

Thanks a lot for taking the time to suggest a fix... But the WRT1900AC went back to Best Buy yesterday. Easy back, by the way.

Oh just a parenthesis... the WRT1900ac has finally connected ok Cat5. The speakeasy speedtest showed on 100-105Mbps of download, the same as the old EA3500 seized croasse.

So, instead, I found an EA3500 used in a store of the local computer. Reset default and he already had the latest firmware.

The old router Cisco EA3500 used the very simple "Cisco Conect" utility.

Forums directed me to a version EA3500 of the "Linksys WiFi Smart" utility, which was a painless and immediately picked up the wireless for laptop Toshiba.

He ran the same features on the speedtest and connected 'excellent' on room android...

    Have a great week!
