Windows 7 on DV6-1215SA

A friend improved their Windows 7 laptop from Vista through the program of free upgrade of HP in Jan last year, however several bits of software update, I noticed it was the 32-bit version of Windows 7 Upgrade they were provided.

As this is a 64 bit AMD Turion X 2 system surely it would go faster (and more stable) with the 64 bit version of Windows 7. As the upgrade disk indicates that it contains only the 32 bit version it is possible to get a drive in Windows 7 64 - bit and upgrade to 64 bit without having to downgrade to Vista first using the recovery partition?

Yes you can do that you have enough RAM to handle 64-bit. You will need to do a clean to go 64-bit install, and you will not have to go back to Vista.

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01787634

How ever unless you run a software really intense as Adobe C5 (that is 64-bit only), Adobe CS4 or video editing software, so you won't notice any difference in performance.

If you want to make the fastest machine, then install a hard drive 7200 RPM, hybrid Seagate drive or if you can afford it, an SSD. The hybrid drive and SSD will make a huge difference.

Go to the control panel and find "backup and restore". "The discovery of the left column, create a System Image" and create a system repair disk. "

These two application can restore your computer at the time you create the discs and if you decide to install a new drive then you can use these discs to reinstall your operating system on the new drive, if you choose to go this route.

The screen of my HP Pavilion Entertainment PC (Pavilion dv6-1215sa) is cracked. Wanted to order, but I was told of the screen is of two types. Please how to know the type of screen or reference number? Thank you.

By far, the best way is to simply go ahead and open the housing of the display, remove the existing screen and look at the back of the part number. You will have to remove, in any case. Order the replacement based on the screen manufacturer part number, not the number of the mobile phone model and you will expand your choices and probably find a better price on the replacement.

  • Damages and errors: need to recover Windows 7 on dv6-3231nr

Hello people! Hoping I can get some tips for fixing this laptop - it is a mess!

I have a laptop dv6-3231nr out of warranty and has a damaged screen. Has been trampled or abandoned. Damage at the bottom left of the screen. I can do some things on the screen when it is running.

Unforunately it will not display the video on an external monitor using the VGA connection. I also tried the HDMI to view video on my TV and the TV displays the data of 'recovery' as it new, something has been connected, but he could not show the video using this connection as well.

Laptop starts at the BIOS and the test in BIOS hard drive error checking was able to finish even if I couldn't see what options and errors I had (all I could do was what he finished). Windows does not load and I get a blue screen error message with an error code that I can't completely make out because of damage to the screen and restarting the laptop just after error appears.

I don't have the original Windows HP recovery disk. I know I could probably order from HP, but I did not how much they cost. I couldn't find a link to order.

So, what do you think? The laptop likely there internal damage to the motherboard that prevents it from display external video via VGA/HDMI connections or would that be a software problem that would be fixed if I had to recover the operating system? In addition, how the HP Recovery/Windows 7 disc would cost me?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can order your software/driver page HERE recovery media they are usually around $17.

You can also try the hard drive partition recovery tapping away to the F11 key, immediately after switching on. Not sure if you could get through the options here with visibility of the small screen.

You can also try the trick HERE by DavidPK burn a dvd of Windows 7. Yet once not sure how well would mean you through a facility complete with retail disk and damaged screen.

  • DV6-6c40ca: more than 100 seconds to boot Windows 7 on dv6-6c40ca

My laptop takes more than 100 seconds to start. It is extremely slow.

I tried all the latest drivers, reinstall windows, upgrade to 240 GB Intel SSD, dsabling software such as antoviruses, and nothing does not.

    I tried the chipset driver:

    Radeon-Crimson-15.12-SB-SATA-AHCI-win10-WIN8.1-Win7-64bit.exe

    but it did not help.

I get my measurements from the windows of the values of diagnostic performance in Event Viewer. There is no device in my device manager.

Can anyone help? I would like to know what the last driver from chipset more up-to-date for this laptop to be used.

BIOS version is F.1C according to HP Support Assistant software. This would be the wrong version?

I checked the Task Manager frequently and there is no CPU hogs.

I checked the Device Manager and there are no missing drivers.

Here's what I discovered. After that uninstall all non updated security windows, my boot time fell to about 35 seconds. I reinstalled the updates in a group of 5, rebooted twice and checked the performance disk to windows Event Viewer log. It was my metric.

After you have reinstalled all of the updates, my boot time hovered between 25 and 35 seconds.

What I think has happened, is that if you install both too many updates, something goes wrong. I think that the only solution that I can gather from this is that with some computers, you must install the windows updates in smaller batches. I did have this problem on other computers well. SO there you have it, one more turn to try for everyone that this reading of google searches.

Managed to install Windows 7 Edition home premium and update all the drivers except one!

in Device Manager it arrives as a controller network in other devices, said location is bus PCI 3, device 0, function 0

I went through all the drivers on the HP site and none have contributed to this issue.

I can't connect to a network or the internet with it atm due to this driver. Using another laptop to download the drivers and research, etc.

My understanding is that your PC comes with a Broadcom wireless network adapter.

  • Fan cooling 90 b on Windows 7 Pavilion dv6-3225dx error

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx, winddws 7 64 bit laptop for over a year and I started to receive a black screen at startup which said cooling fan error 90 b problem.

The problem started when I was still at school and I had to watch this long movie for an assignment.

The error would only be the beginning on all 2-3 weeks or so, one or two times, and especially when I turn it night and turn it on again 12 hours the next day later. I tried to update the BIOs from HP support assistant menu, but twice the update failed once it restarts after a update.

When the laptop starts it starts smoothly without problem, and the fan does not strong when the error screen appears.

A friend told me it might be dusty inside the fan or the fan needs to be replaced. But I thought I'd ask around on the forum to see if anyone has a solution (maybe something is not installed?)

the BIO system version is F.29

    Thank you!

    Hello:

    Your friend is correct.

I would try cleaning first cooling system since it is the best thing to do.

Unplug the computer and remove the battery.

Get a can of compressed air at your local office supply store.

Put a toothpick in the air intake fan and place it between two of the fan so the fan blades don't pinwheel when you spray compressed air, as setting the fan will ruin the bearings.

Spray the air in two ways - through the socket of the fan and the exhaust fan vents. Do a couple of times until you see no more than dust coming out ducts.

Failure to remedy the problem then maybe the fan/radiator Assembly will be replaced.

Looking at the specifications of product for your laptop, it seems that the Fan/Heatsink Assembly you need is

    603690 001.

Consult the service manual, Chapter 3, page 21 for more information and Chapter 4 for the procedures for removal and replacement.

  • ENVY DV6-7203TU: I lost my original windows, how can I recover?

    Hello
I bought the hp laptop with windows 8, ENVY DV6-7203TU original,.
Recently, I had the problem of the usb, I went to the computer repair shop, he removed my original windows and reinstalled some windows 8.1.
My original genuine windows was 8 which I later upgraded to windows 8.1 is deleted, I have a few new windows installed 8.1 now not on my name, he has also deleted my recovery partition, but somehow, I could find a screenshot of my old genuine cd key and my name on which it is registered.

Now I have the cd - key,
But when I try to install through windows 8/8.1 installation programs, it says bad cd - key for version retailer etc.

Can someone help me please how can I reinstall my windows genuine 8, if I have the cd key, where can I download the installer of windows 8 oem? where my cd key is considered valid.

Microsoft has a site where you can download the ISO of Win8.1 images - but it cannot be used for OEM versions - which is what you have.

Any PC tech with an ounce of intelligence knows that an OEM machine comes preinstalled with an OEM version. So I should be surprised by the huge incompetence of the shop where they "fixed" your PC - but I'm not!  Seems these days, anyone who can be synonymous with PC can open a repair shop - and incalculable damage as a result.

You have to contact HP for recovery media.  (Very likely), you will have to pay for it, and it is usually about $30 USD - but yours could be different.

You then starts from (it's probably a DVD or several CDs) and will be reformatted your hard drive, and the operating system reinstalled from scratch with all HP programs and utilities.  Then, you should see what you can do on the registration files and valuable data before you for the restoration.

    @soupy1972,.

It seems that this device does not support Windows 8 based on the software page and drivers found here.  This means that a driver must be installed for Windows 8 or a driver of Windows 7 in compatibility mode.

This process has worked for some to find an original driver of Windows 8.

Otherwise, the Windows 7 driver should be installed in mode of compatibility as shown here.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    @dc57,.

I assume that you have the same problem, but for Windows 7 instead.

It looks like this device might have Realtek or Conexant to the provider of the sound card.

Visit this page and download the audio driver appropriate.  Download on the system, but do not install it again.

Browse to the downloaded file.  Run the file and let the complete extraction of the process.  Note where the package was extracted to and cancel the installation, once you have the opportunity.

Go to the extracted folder (usually c:\swsetup\filename).  Right-click on the setup.exe or Setup for audio driver and select Properties.  Select the Compatibility tab and select compatibility for Vista.  Some users have success by selecting XP on this property window.

Click apply/ok, and then run setup.exe.

This should install the audio driver in compatibility mode and give the best chance of success.

    Let me know what happens.

Thank you very much! It worked! I get a refund for Windows 8, but realize that I couldn't reinstall Windows 7, so am not stuck with a BONE that I don't don't like, but now, thanks to the advice have sound!

    Hello:

The hardware ID you posted is present in this driver... that this driver is the only one I know.

    [AVerMedia.NTamd64]
    %AVerAF15.DeviceDesc.A309% = AVerAF15.Device, USB\VID_07CA & PID_A309

See if it works... Download and install this free utility for files.  2nd listed file is 64-bit.

    http://www.7-zip.org/

After installing 7 - zip, download, save, but do not run the driver file I posted again.

Right-click on sp45500 and select 7 - zip from the list.

Have 7-zip extract of: and leave it to decompress the file in its folder.

Now, once 7-Zip has done this, right click on the A316A, the etc file and run 7 - zip to decompress this file in its folder.

Then open that folder and right click on the A309_Win7Logo, etc., drop and have extracted 7 - zip this file in a folder.

Then, open this folder and open the OUTDIR folder and open the folder to Vista x 64.

Again, do a right click on the Setup file and have 7 - Zip to decompress this file in its folder.

Now that you have finished with this...

Go to Device Manager and click on the device USB\VID_07CA & PID_A309, who need the pilot.

Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.

Select her browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the file sp45500 that 7-Zip created.

Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and see if the pilot goes like this.

    Then restart the PC.
