Windows 7 Professional 64 bit constantly "not responding".

As requested by Adam - Support Engineer starts a new thread to an old unsolved problem. Windows 7 Professional 64 bit constantly freezes showing a message "no answer." The gel can last from 10 seconds to a minute about. It happens with all the applications on my system, including but not limited to: IE, Windows Explorer, Notepad, All Office 2007 Pro (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), MS Calculator, MS Solitaire, Editpad, Acrobat Reader,... I tried all of the suggestions I found that applies to my system. Nothing has worked. I reinstalled Windows at least half a dozen times.

System Specs:
MB - ASUS M4A79T Deluxe rev 1.02 G
BIOS - worm 3205
Processor - AMD Athlon (TM) II X rev 4 965 RB - Black edition C3
Video - ATI Radeon HD 5870
RAM - 8 G OCZ3G1600LVAM2G
NIC - Onboard Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
Sound - Onboard Realtek 1200 8 channels high definition
HDD (SATA) - Boot - Seagate ST3100528AS
(SATA) HARD drive - backup - Seagate ST3160812AS
DVD - LG GSA-H55L
DVD - LG GSA - 4163B

I forgot to update this. If anyone is interested the problem was hardware related. Have 2 players of DVD IDE was originally the system sometimes does not detect or lose contact with one or two hard drives. I've had the same 2 DVD connected to an another MB before the upgrade and they work very well together. I changed the old to a dvd SATA and that solved a problem. Don't know if this is a bios or Windows issue. The second problem was that the video card cannot have been well installed. This MB has a foam strip along the Panel of e/s that I really had to compress in order to align the screw holes in the Mo with those in the case. This fact is difficult to insert the cards, because there is not much space for the mounting bracket slide between the Mo and the case. I had to really force to get it in. To make sure that the video card was sitting properly, I loosened the screws MB, installed the card and then tighten the screws. This also gave permission, that I need to insert a USB 3.0 card later without having to fight with him.

  • New installation of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit does not install the Windows updates

I tried it twice.  I install Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit on a ThinkPad T61.  After installation and activation successful Windows, I tried Windows updates.  The 'check updates' never ends.  After the first installation of Windows, I tried all sorts of bugs found either here or other Windows Help Web sites, does not.  So I reinstalled Windows, but with the same result.

After that the first installation was impossible to install updates, I received the Windows Update stand-alone Installer and downloaded the stand-alone files for updates.  Would install things like IE updates, but no security update would install, as well as most other updates.  Yet once, just standalone Setup would continue to search for already installed updates without ever ending.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks for the comments.  It's good to hear that you have actually solved the problem.

  • HP EliteBook 8440p with i5 650M core and Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit is not recognize 8 GB of ram

I had XP Professional. I installed Windows 7 64-bit and put 8 GB of RAM (2 x 4 GB DIMMS), but it only recognizes 4 GB.  Need help!

    Hello:

What appears in the BIOS?  4 GB or 8 GB?

If only 4 GB appears, the module of memory in the lower memory compartment is defective, or the slot on the bottom of your PC memory is faulty.

If you have replaced any existing memory in your laptop, put it back in and see what happens - or under the keyboard to determine if this 4 GB chip is bad and 6 GB now shows upwards or downwards to see if 6 GB appears or remains at 4.

My money is a hardware problem.

  • Remote Desktop on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit does not connect to my computer Windows XP VPN

I recently updated from windows XP 32-bit to Windows 7 64 bit.  According to the same installation instructions, that I used on XP to connect to my computer to work through VPN & remote desktop is no longer working.  I can connect to the VPN connection without no problem, but when I use remote desktop to connect to the computer, it does not work.  I get the message:

Remote Desktop cannot connect to the remote computer to one of the following reasons:

    (1) remote access to the server is not enabled

    (2) the remote computer is disabled

    (3) the remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure that the remote computer is on and connected to the network, and remote access is enabled.

Items 1-3 are all very well, so it must be another problem.  I also checked windows firewall remote desktop is allowed on the exceptions list.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I fixed, which was ultimately quite simple.  I changed the 3 settings, 1 - uncheck the TCP/IP v6 2 - in the options of the remote desktop, ADVANCED tab, I changed the server authentication for: connect and don't warn me.  3 - below, to connect from anywhere, settings...  I chose: do not use a remote desktop gateway server. \
I checked the TCP/IP v6 and everything still works.
    Hope that helps someone.

  • Kodak esp3250 drivers do not install on Windows XP Professional 64-bit

    Hello

I just want to ask if it is possible to download drivers for my Kodak ESP 3250 printer. I heard that it is not compatible with Windows XP Professional 64-bit machines, but I think that it is not true.
    Thank you
    Zuga01

If you really have XP Pro x 64 (which is rare), you're right that current software/driver Kodak for its all-in-one printers (including the ESP 3250) will not work for your operating system.  See http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32108/selected/true

It is possible that Kodak may have an older version of its software that works.  See http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23858/related/1/selected/true

    * I went to Windows Update, and was the only one available update for Windows Defender

Your hardware may be different from the PC to your wife, so does not support the feature. Or your drivers are not updated.

It would be useful that you could provide us with the details of your hardware and the driver version. Use Device Manager to find it. Open Start, right click on the link to the computer , and then select Manage. Then, in the left part of the window that opens, click on Device Manager.

According sound, video and game controllers, let us know the details of your material or post a screenshot.

  • Hibernate not available after powercfg-h on in Windows 7 Professional 32 bit

This is recently cleaned installation of windows 7 Professional 32 bit on my laptop HP Pavilion dv6330ea PC, had previously vista home premium 32-bit.

I noticed that the hibernation is missing. I have run cmd as administrator and run powercfg h
and restarted my system but always Hibernate does not appear.

Finally, I found a solution to my own post after a long time.

Hybrid sleep is another new feature of energy saving designed primarily for desktop computers. Hybrid sleep saves all open documents and programs in memory and on your hard disk, and then puts your computer into a low power state.

Unlike laptops, desktops have generally not focused on backup battery power. So a power failure sudden to a desktop in standard sleep mode, you risk data loss.

But with hybrid sleep is turned on, Windows can restore your work to your hard drive. On desktop computers, hybrid sleep is usually on by default.

When hybrid sleep is turned on, clicking sleep automatically puts your computer into hybrid sleep. When hybrid sleep is turned off, or if your computer doesn't support hybrid sleep, clicking Sleep puts the computer to sleep.

To enable or disable hybrid sleep:

    1. Open Power Options by clicking on the button start , clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance and then click Power Options.

    2. On the select a power plan page, click on change settings for the plan under the selected plan.

    3. The parameters of change for the plan of the page, click on change advanced power settings.

    4. On the Advanced Settings tab, expand sleep, expand hybrid sleep allow and then do one of the following:

      • If you are using a mobile PC, click on battery or plugged (or both), click the arrow, and then click.

      • If you are using a desktop computer, click setting, click the arrow and then click.

    5. Click OK and then click on save changes.

    Hi Johanna,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you can not use the USB in Windows 7.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will definitely help you with this

    1. you get any error message?

2 have you tried using different USB ports?

    3. any other USB key works on the computer in question?

    4. do the USB works on any other computer?

5 have had any changes made to the computer before the show?

    Please follow the methods.

    Method 1:

Run the Microsoft fixit for the link.

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us

    Method 2:

As all devices have same also have USB device associated drivers. Appropriate sometimes drivers not detected after initial installation so reinstalling the drivers can fix the problems.

You can check after uninstalling and reinstalling USB drivers if you are able to connect. You can disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

    (a) click Startand then click Control Panel.

    (b) click system and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.

    (c) Note if the control panel is in Classic view, double-click Systemand then click on Device Manager.

    (d) If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

    (e) in Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right click on the controller host, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".
Check that if at all, there is an exclamation point on the pilot, it suggests problems with the installed driver.

    (f) repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.

We would be more than happy to help you if the steps above did not solve the problem.

  • Network Drive will not refresh, I use 2 machines to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and 1 Windows 7 Professional 32-bit machine on a wired Ethernet network.

I use 2 machines to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and 1 Windows 7 Professional 32-bit machine on a wired Ethernet network.

The network works fine with one question. When I add a new file on the same machine and try to access this new folder from another machine the new folder does not appear. I have to disconnect the network drive of the machine with the new folder, and then map a new drive. When I map the new drive the new folder appears in Windows Explorer on the second machine.

It's very frustrating when I want to add a file attachment to e-mail from another machine and it does not appear until I disconnect and re - map the drive.

I hope this all make sense. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? I don't remember this problem when my network was XP Pro machines.

    Thanks for your help.

    Thank you for your help.

The I work around this problem is to do step 1 and step two, as you suggest.  I haven't restarted the computer though - I will also try it.  I have also not tell abled my ESET NOD32 Antivirus software either - I'll try that too.
The network drive I'm seeing 'change' on does not refresh by itself, when I press F5 or go to view/update.
Search Google indicates that this refreshing a network drive issue to show a newly created folder, etc. is a long time, Windows 7 problem.
I would like your ideas on the potential problem of Windows 7 found on Google.
    Thanks again for your help.
