Windows 7 stops on its own without warning

My pc running windows 7 Home premium keeps stopping on its own without warning - I checked and its not overheating there are a lot of ventilation. I was told that it may be registry settings but don't see why I should pay for a reg cleaner because I do not know if it will solve this problem

A Reg cleaner will cause more problems than it will fix. If the PC stops while using it, then see the test below tools. If it stops while his idle then you will need to check and change your power plan.

First try running Memtest86 +, that runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or
confirm whether your one or more of your sticks of memory are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours, so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.

Device drivers: have you installed latest drivers from device of the manufacture of the motherboard? Visit their site to support for the latest drivers as the CD that came with the motherboard may have older less stable drivers.

Check the download site of the manufacture of the graphics card for the latest Windows 7 drivers for your card.

    Hey Kimbo

In my opinion this closure downs are related to bad cooling.
You should check the modules of cooling because of the dust and debris inside the laptop. It seems that the fan don't twist with maximum performance and, consequently, the critical level of temperature increases.

The use of the vacuum cleaner against the vents should help. But be careful.
If you n t know how to do or you don t have much experience you should ask a technician for help.

    Hello Kenneth g. Mann

What version of Windows 8 you have installed on your computer?

The only thing I can think of that would cause the computer shut down every 2 hours would be if you have the Windows 8 Preview of consumers or the Windows 8 Preview version. These two operating systems were copies of the assessments only and were set to expire on 15 January and 16 January.

Click the link here , which deals with these issues.

If you have previews of Windows 8 evaluation, please answer and provide your version of the operating system and any error if set.

  • Dell Dimension E521 starts and stops on its own at random times... a lot of attempts to repair/restore without success! What's next!

Well, it's a bit of a long story, so I'll try to make it as short and easy as possible.

My grandmother had the Dell Dimension E521 for some time in December of ' 06.  She had filled the C: drive with a bunch of junk and mandated the bureau with many useless shortcuts.  Later in November 10, she told me he had begun to stop and start on his own time at random, so I tried to do what I could with antivirus scan (AVG Free Edition), remove applications and unnecessary programs and try to demand for system recovery short.  While that makes the computer run faster, it still started and closed on itself.  His house has only the dial-up connection (which is almost impossible to update anything), so I brought it to my house for the best connection around 01/01/11 (9 days ago).

I could update the AVG Free Edition and Windows updates, and it found and cleared, a Trojan Virus.  The Dell still started and shut down on its own.  My next step was to use the disc re - install for Vista Home Basic 32-bit.  He old programs saved in a folder "Windows.old" on the C: drive and completely re-installed everything back to the original.  After I checked in the "Windows.old" folder and recorded something she didn't lose (such as images and videos), I deleted as much as I could out of it.  The only thing I could not remove from it was 4 'driver files '.  For a while the computer trying to run 'chkdsk' on its own seizure began, but froze in the middle of it.  He finally ended the 'chkdsk' once and didn't try again since.  It downloaded and installed updates Windows of 100 or more on its own as well.

After all, it still does the same thing he has with housing starts and shut downs.  The closure of downs occur not just in the middle of the execution of a given program; they occur at any time at random, even if I use the computer in safe mode.  She always goes through the whole stops the process with the "logging off" and "closing" legends, it is not as if the electric system is down.  The start-up occur randomly as well, even if a stop is purposely through the Start Menu or hold down the power button.  Sometimes, he's trying to start and shut down on its own several times without fully load.

Again, sorry this is so long, but I would like to know if there is anything that can be done to get this thing to CUT IT OUT because my grandmother wants as his computer back!

  • Why the recent updates to Windows are close my IBM ThinkPad without warning? Help, please!

Since I installed the latest Windows updates on my IBM ThinkPad (belongs to the office, one for me), the computers have decided to stop randomly without warning and without closing programs.  It happened first in the portable desktop computer and I tried a system restore, but it wouldn't.  Today, I installed on my computer but after I did a system restore.  I'll try that, but I guess that this will not help.  What can I do to get this to stop happening?   Is anyway to switch to Microsoft and tell them what is happening and have them repaired?

OK, removing the updates does not solve my problem, so reinstalled. I solved the breaks down by turning the bottom of my screen Hardware Acceleration 1 notch. Always try to understand the underlying cause.

  • The part of the address of the message writing window TB can cause its own adjustable frame in size as in previous versions of TB?

In older versions of TB the part of the address of the message entry window had its own adjustable chassis. It was useful that you could develop the image to see all addresses at a time and avoid errors of sending emails to the wrong people, especially when you reply to all and to remove some addresses for example answering users in the company, excluding visitors to learn sensitive information.

In the recent release you can only see three lines of e-mail addresses and use the scroll bar to see the rest of them, but you may miss the addresses during scrolling up/down. He needs more time to verify that the necessary addresses are there and it is not effective at all.

Can someone restore the setting of the address in the window of writing? Is there a plan to change this in future versions?

Please note that I use Thunderbird on Windows XP platform

Yes! Just below the slider bar formatting changes and you can increase the size of the email address area to see more addresses.

However, I liked the old style better which was more intuitive. Anyway, there is a way to do the job.

    Thank you very much!

  • my laptop stops on its own

recently, I downloaded some games from mostfun.com and everything was perfect for about a week, then my computer just started blocking down on its own and incidentally I don't get error down and all just poof, he's going he first flicker a small last thing so far it's just when I know im running one of the games or a movie I downloaded the logical thing in East to remove these i I want to just make sure that its not something else

It seems that the laptop may be overheating.  Are you sure there is enough air past for laptop?  Make sure that it is on a flat surface, with nothing to obstruct the ventilation openings.  Make sure that the vents and fans and heat sinks are free from dust - examine their blowing with compressed air (power of the system first, of course).  Depending on the laptop model, it may be relatively easy to blow off the dust with compressed air, or otherwise clean up things a bit.   Fans should be kept up well - only no right turn when being ripped off.  My Dell laptop has a removable fan (two small screws need to be removed) that can easily be blown.  This also allows access to the fins of the heatsink.

Some laptops also have a removable filter that traps the dust and must be regularly inspected and cleaned.

Are all the BIOS settings for the adjustment of the temperature, the value lower than the manufacturer's recommendations and the default values (you need to check the manual of your laptop for this).  Also make sure you run the latest version of BIOS (again, the manual of your laptop would have the details; the manufacturer's website should also have this information).

  • Firewall Windows turning off on its own

The last two times I turned on my computer, I got a warning that the windows firewall is disabled.  I had my computer for more than a year, and this issue just started to happen.  It is a Dell laptop running windows 7 with Avira Internet Security installed.  Why is that happening and how can I solve this problem?

    Try this procedure:--

    (1) right click on my computer if you use one admin
    (2) select Manage
    (3) then click on Device Manager
    (4) then go to the menu bar click on 'View' and then click on view devices
    (5) then go to the menu bar and click on 'View', then select 'connection device.
    (6) then scroll last and search for "windows firewall authorization driver."
    (7) right click on it and select 'Properties', then click on the driver tab
    (8) see if stopped status click on the Start button and then also select type automatic
    (9) if the State is started, then click on the drop-down Type menu and select Auto

  • Each new browser window has two tabs (one is the sign more) then how we close a window with a single page in without warning multi-onglet?

Firefox 38 changed the behavior of the tab for me so that each window with two tabs open. The second tab is the 'plus' sign for the creation of new tabs. This means that when the window is closed, the content disappears, but the window to grab and must be closed by hand.

I tried the "Hide Tab Bar with a tab" extension, but it does nothing. My additional windows are always open with the tab bar (which they don't have in previous versions) and two tabs are there.

I "warn me if I try to close multiple tabs" together. I don't know if that's the problem. If this is the case, I don't want to give it up because it's useful. When I have several tabs. But a window that has one thing that he really needs to behave like a window that has one thing in it.

I crossed by disabling the extensions, and the extension of ImageTweak seems to have been the culprit. It was apparently works well with the previous version, 38 he screwed up. Well, not an extension is critical.

original title: reduction of disk space

My hard disk space is down without my add files or programs. I deleted the files, and after a while, I get the message that I'm out of space disk yet. I ran the windows disk cleaner, but the question is not what I need more disk space - is my drive space decreases continuously. For example, yesterday I got 4.89 GB free, today, I 4.80 - without adding anything to my computer. Any suggestion for what can happen and how to fix this?

Another minor issue I have is that sometimes windows does not start correctly and I can't open any programs after implementation - in this case, I just restart and it works usually then. Don't know which is related to the question of good memory, but maybe it is?

I am running Windows Vista Business SP2 on a Lenovo Thinkpad X 61.
