Windows 7 takes FOREVER to load the user/switch user screen

Earlier today, I turned on my Toshiba laptop (Satellite P855-S5200) and got some kind of error message, and then he led me to a screen asking if I wanted to do a system repair or start windows normally. I chose the repair of the system, but then it seemed stuck in this process (it took forever and nothing happened), so I turned off the laptop (I don't know, not big), started in safe mode, and did a system restore to a restore point from a week ago. The 'starting Windows' screen come and don't go, no problem. Everything seemed fine until I got to the selection screen of the user (by default blue with the little Hummingbird or something else). Then he just sat there, on this screen. I could see the Hummingbird and the wavy lines, but there is no button to click on my user. I just let it sit there and after about 5 minutes, the usernames popped up and I was able to continue to use the computer with no problems, no speed no questions whatsoever. Now, he makes me wait each time, always five minutes, pop up user names before. It does when I reboot the machine and when I try to switch users.

It's a Pentium Core i7

2.3 Ghz

8 GB RAM

Windows 7 Home Premium

Let me know if you need any other specifications.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Tim

I ended up calling Norton myself and they have taken control of my laptop and uninstalled. It starts like a charm, thank you for your help!

  • Firefox 7 takes forever to load certain pages, or does not load completely, have markers from place to place and place images...

Had the same problems with 6 Ff. 1/4 to 1/3 of the pages take forever to load. Sometimes I can make by highlighting the URL and pressing Enter. Sometimes the activity indicator turn right and pirouettes and page never loads. Mark-up appear sometimes where the images should be. Home of the New York Times, for example, partially supported (some missing images) but the links to take forever.

Open the topic: config page through the address bar and do a search for network.http via the filter at the top of the about: config page.

You can reset all network.http associated prefs which appear "BOLD" (user set) via the context menu to their default values.

It is generally not a good idea to change these preferences, and these changes can have the opposite effect, by activating especially pipelining for servers that do not support this feature.

    Hello

try a restore of the system before this happened

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

If necessary do in safe mode

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

If you ever have to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc
