Windows 7 will not Shutdown and then blue screens

I got this laptop (Satellite A660-18) last week for work and after I installed all the updates of Windows 7 that it would be closed. I formatted the lot assuming that I had done something wrong and it was fine for a day and after installing the updates again, is once more show 'Shutting Down' for about 5 minutes and screening then blue.

Help, please! There are a lot of people have reported a similar problem, but none of their solutions seem to work (ie. re-installing the BIOS).

I am very excited to hear from someone!

Andy

I put t know where you found these reports, but I can confirm that my Satellite A660-13 q runs perfectly with all important updates.
Have you installed updated optional too?

Yes, it's the way it happens. All the other stuff are load - computer office, drivers, anti-virus, etc.
It takes longer is that you have a lot of programs that load with Windows.
and is faster if you have Windows on a SSD instead of a disk hard standard tray.
Win7 also much faster than XP load, anything.

    Hello

It does not seem good friend if the Windows operating system does not start even using safe mode, then I don t think you will be able to run the operating system without new OS reinstallation. :(

To back up data from the HARD drive I recommend that you connect the internal HARD drive to external USB HDD controller and a backup of the HARD drive on another computer.

Then you could try to reinstall the operating system on your laptop using the Toshiba Recovery CD

    See you soon

    Hello cannary77:

Sorry your computer broke down. Thanks to updates from Microsoft. Well I see you tried safe mode and couldn't open. I hope you have your recovery disk. It's the time to use them. Just insert the disk and turn on coomputer. If your memory or your hard drive was not damaged it must start the process of full recovery. Follow on screen commands. If you do not have your recovery disk, then you can order them through section of HP computer parts. I hope that this step is all you need. Because if this last resort fails then your computer should be taken for repairs. Maybe just replacing memory chips or the hard drive maybe both.

Once you fall upwards and re-run. Modify the updater settings to automatically update, but let me pick witch to install. Now manually check you for updater and see if the updates are downloaded. Check only one couple at a time. For some reason when a buch of them settle in once, what is happening. I got lucky when it happpened to me. I could get my computer in safe mode and do a restore from the back. Since I changed my settings it didn't happen.

Oh if you need send repairs request an estimate may be cheeper to buy new, then tries to fix it. Also check your warranty may still be covered. All HP computers come with one year warranty. Good luck

My computer starts... someone can help?

My computer starts... someone can help?

I was wondering if someone could help me as soon as possible because I need this computer to work...

I'm pretty new in this at work, but I was put in charge of fixing one of the computers.
    Here's what happened...

It was running on windows XP Professional.
but then Windows XP Home Edition has been installed.

Someone wanted to Windows 7 on the computer, so I tried to install this... it does not work.

The computer wil not start, then when it asks to click on f12 or f2, I click on (tried twice) both
When I go to the start menu, the arrows do not work, so I can not seloect anything.
I have to let it boot to the 'Welcome' screen (where you connect)
Also ' still looks like Windows xp

I can't log on, and then I click the button to do this, it gives me a message that says:
"you must activate this copy of windows to connect, you want to activate it now?

It gives me the options of Yes and no.
When I click No., goes back to the Welcome screen
but when I click Yes, it looks like it will record in, but the only thing that appears is the image on the desktop and the cursor.
do not show the start menu, taskbar and icons on the desktop.
The last time this happened, I waited for a few hours, but it has not changed.

I have no idea what to do

    Additional details

I don't know if the hard drive has been formatted before I tried to install windows 7.

I tried to install windows 7 with the cd.
I also know that Windows XP Home Edition has been installed by a CD as well.
Windows XP Professional was already on the computer when it is purchased

I just tried the Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
Nothing is silent... not even the Task Manager

When he told me to click on f12 for "boot menu" I did...
then he gives me these options:
    -Onboard or USB floppy
    -Onboard SATA hard drive
    -Onboard or USB CD drive

    -System configuration
    -Disk hard Diagnistics
    -Start the utility Partition

The Windows 7 CD is in the CD drive, but it is not yet installed... I want to install it, so I clicked on "Onboard or USB CD drive".

    Then he said:
"No available selected startup disk - strike f1 to retry boot, F2 to put in place the utility"

This is what happens when I press on them:
F2 - same message (I've tried several times and it has not changed)
    Information system F1 display

This can be a much more serious problem than I thought at first...

    Thank you for your help
There has been much appriciated :)

But I just fixed the problem

  • Windows Vista will not start and cannot recover

I have a desktop PC HP Compaq Presario, which has about 2 years. The problem started when Windows Vista was not able to start. It would load up on the "COMPAQ" screen and then it would just go to a slider black white screen with a flashing white light on the top left. Now that I've seen a lot of discussions with this similar problem, but it seems that people would rather not reformat in order to lose any important data. But in my situation, I have some important data on my computer so reformatting would be fine, except...

-Recovery system won't work. I insert the 1 system recovery disk, all files loading correctly, it allows me to choose if I want to reset the computer to factory settings, I click Yes and it finishes the reformatting step. But then the problem comes when I insert disc 2, original content relocation step. It fills up to 10-16% and then I get a blue screen of death STOP: 0 x 00008086. I tried SEVERAL times and the same thing happens.

-The next thing I tried to do is to fix the computer via a copy burned Windows Startup Repair. Loads everything up, I spent the page where I choose my language, currency, etc. The problem comes when I get to the System Recovery Options. There is no listed BONES and a box appears and says "Searching for Windows installations", and then it stalls just on this pop up. This problem is quite recent, because before there is no pop up and there is simply no OS listed, so I still could not repair or restore in any case.

-Before, when I was able to go into the advanced options on the Startup Repair disk (when he was not of "searching for Windows installations" pop up to stall on), I'd go to the command prompt in attempt to chkdsk/r C:. All bad sectors or groups or something else would be fixed, and then he would hold to step 5 of 5 when checking free space.

-In addition, I tried to make a diagnosis of memory via the Startup Repair tool. That's what I get:

    File: \boot\memtest.exe

    Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt

Furthermore, I cleaned my computer, it is now almost completely free of dust. In addition, I can't get into the BIOS, I can't get into safe mode, and now I can't have in the command line

  • Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has recovered successfully after sleep, and then blue screen

original title: display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has recovered successfully after sleep, then BSOD.

Well, if not some time ago, we got a Nvidia GeForce 240GT video card. We used an ATI Radion 3460 I think and it worked normally. Then when we got the nVidia card, we started to see the problems. Occasionally, he would show the blue screen of death. I tried to reproduce the error and came to an interesting conclusion. Whenever I put the computer in sleep mode turn off mode 'sleep', I wait a bit and then the login screen appears. I connect and it shows me the "display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and was recovered successfully. Then after that, if I go on YouTube and try to watch a video, the computer hangs and a BSOD would leap upward. I am angry. I used "standby mode" so and with the new map video, everything got worse. I tested this problem on Windows Vista and 7. And btw, the drivers are up-to-date, I made sure the driver nvlddmkm himself file is up-to-date, and temperatures are perfect.

update the drivers from NVIDIA. Also make sure that your power supply is powerful enough to handle the new nVIDIA card. "A programmer is just a tool that converts the caffeine in code" Deputy CLIP - http://www.winvistaside.de/

  • Satellite L630-10R - do not start and a blue screen

    Hello world

I recently bought this laptop which had everything to convince me, unfortunately, I was a problem since last night and I want to try all reasonable before returning to ensure.

I was using the computer quite by chance (online games, web browsing, especially VoIP) when he decided to stop and restart. Now, whenever I try to start windows, even in safe mode, I get a blue screen as soon as I entered my password. The same problem occurs when you try to run in safe mode.

I thought it might just be a very aggressive and effective virus and thought it was well deserved, knowing that I had not yet installed an antivirus. So I burned a Ubuntu liveCD on another computer and tried to recover my data from here, but nothing helps: Ubuntu does not start or, on the contrary it gives me just sort of memdump or stacktrace (at least I guess that's because it has hexadecimal addresses and what looks like function names)

I'm kinda stuck and I really don't understand what could have caused this. Any idea would be appreciated. A code error that appeared when you attempt to start windows, but don't _always_ appear not, is something in the sense of * DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL *.

    Thanks in advance,

    Shin

  • Windows 8 will not start to sign in screen

    Hi all

I'm sorry if this problem has been posted, but I read a lot of discussions that do not apply to my question. I can't get into safe mode. I can't access the operating system. I can't do anything. It shows the Packard Bell logo and spinning loading animation and then nothing. Black screen.

Can someone tell me please how to fix this? As said I can't in safemode, bios or anything. I tried to boot from the drive with an ISO image of a registry Fixer to this topic. Nothing.

    Please please help.

The most modern machines do not use the old Chargers to start which allowed you to enter safe mode F8 during the startup mode.  If you can't reach the Windows login screen, you can get into safe mode by restarting while clicking the option to reboot, but it does not help if you can't get there.

Given that, most of the manufacturers have prepared with their own solutions. My computer Vaio from Sony has a button of special pinhole that I had to press with a paper clip to enter into recovery mode.  Other manufacturers have other options, some require a USB thumbdrive to enter recovery, or a CD.

At this point, you probably want to contact Asus to know which recovery method they use.  I hate to bring bad news, but they'll probably say "why did not a recovery USB disk? (as if someone creates their own set of disks of repair when they receive a new computer).

Help a friend with a Dell laptop (did not have a problem, but wanted a clean install anyway), Dell sent us a free night FedEx ship from a restore CD. ASUS could be so kind. I know that Sony was not. If the recovery of my Vaio button didn't work, they wanted $60 for a CD!

Anyway, the manufacturer is your best bet, that now, if you don't have a USB self made for recovery.

There was a program that was supposed to update the drivers but caused a blue screen. I had to go back to a previous point of reset to get Windows 7 running again. Now Thunderbird gives me an error "could not load XPCOM" at startup. What should I do?

I solved the problem as follows:
    1. turn off the antivirus software.
2 delete the program folder in Thunderbird, C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird (Windows 32-bit) or C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Thunderbird (64-bit Windows) by default.
    3. use the browser to download the Thunderbird installer on the Mozilla site.
4 reinstalled Thunderbird by running the installation program.
    5 turn on antivirus software.
