  • How can I make best use of Windows XP wireless connect?

This may seem Basic, but I want to understand all aspects of the configuration of my PC of course. As long as I connected to the wireless Web, I used a software provided by Netgear, that makes the wireless adapter. When I moved into an apartment, the ISP technology who set up my wireless modem could not get Netgear to "discuss" the modem, so he opted for the default Windows software. I'm not real surprised because Netgear has always been a little bug. However, I know the zip on the Windows login. Is it as simple as right-clicking on the icon in the status bar system and by taking my selection of disable, status, repair, view available wireless networks, change the settings of Windows Firewall or open network connections? • Windows 7 wireless connection problem

I just bought a brand new Alienware m17x and all drivers are up to date... .IM with broadcom wireless network adapter. The strange thing is that last night I was on the internet for several hours without any problem using the wireless, but this morning iwas unable to use my wireless internet access. This has happened several times now. Sometimes it says "not connected - no available connections" and sometimes he says "not connected connections are available" when she says, links, I try to connect to the network, but it says "unable to connect to the network. The only time wherever I was able to connect to wireless internet, was when my computer is automatically connected to my wireless network without me having to select the network and attempt to connect. I read things about windows 7, with a mode of "sleeper" for wireless connections or something, and that can be the cause of it and that it is better to turn off or downgrade to xp. I am really frustrated because I am not able to connect wirelessly and I hope you guys can help me find a solution.

Guide to correctly troubleshoot wireless M17x
    with Dell Wireless 1510/Broadcom card
    by Glzmo

Since many new Alienware M17x all powerful users, especially those who use Windows 7 as operating system there are various problems with their Wi - Fi connection and post threads asking how their difficulty over and over again, I decided to write this guide to show them how to solve these issues properly Commons. The solutions in this guide were created and designed for 64-bit Windows 7, but they may also work in Windows Vista, although these problems were experienced by users of Windows 7 mainly in the past. It could very well be that the problems start occurring in Vista as well with the new drivers and Windows updates.

    I. may not connect to the wireless network and or see the wireless adapter when the Ethernet cable is disconnected
If you sometimes or always unable to connect to the wireless network, cannot connect to the wireless network when the Ethernet cable is disconnected, unable to connect to a wireless network unless you restart once to get this work and other weird problems to be unable to connect to a wireless network continue with section II. Otherwise, continue with section II..

Sleep of a.i. Disable on disconnect device
Some new Nvidia Ethernet drivers have a function called sleep device to disconnect. This is the culprit. Normally, it should only put the card Ethernet to sleep when the cable is disconnected, but it is buggy and thus kill the wireless connection as well.
Follow these steps to disable this feature on your Ethernet Nvidia card:

    1. open the Device Manager of Windows by pressing Win + break, and then click on Device Manager on the left side.
    2 double-click network adapters.
3 double click on NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller (Yes, that's indeed wired Ethernet adapter).
4 click on the Advanced tab.
5 select sleep on disconnect device.
6 set the value to disabled.
7 click OK and wireless should work again (may require a reboot later, but probably not).

I.b. install different drivers (older) who do not have the device sleeping on disconnect feature.
The above does not work or if you are not comfortable with these drivers, follow these steps (if step A.i. was successful, you will not need to follow these steps). Take care to create a system restore point before proceeding:
    1. click the Windows Start button in the taskbar.
    2 click on Control Panel.
3 click on uninstall a program.
4 in the list, double-click Nvidia drivers.
    5. Mark Remove only the following.
6 in the box below, only check the Nvidia Network driver.
7 click Remove and follow the uninstall instructions.
8 restart the system, if you are prompted to.
9 download another (older) driver from Nvidia.
    10 install the old driver.
11 when asked what drivers you want to install, select only the network driver.
12 follow the installation instructions and restart your system if prompted.

II. Low or fluctuating wireless connection speeds
If you have problems with WiFi low connection speeds (such as rates decline over time, the speeds are much lower than they should be, network lag/stutter in online games, loss of light packets, loss of internet connection as LAN works and other weird things) or speeds of fluctuating wildly without apparent reason wireless connection install the version of the Dell Wireless 5.60.18.8 drivers instead of the standard Broadcom drivers. All older drivers will usually cause the speed of connection under normal. Note, however, that you may need to install the driver manually via Device Manager as the pilot was not released for another laptop and is not officially available to the M17x yet - that's why the installer won't work. Take care to create a system restore point before proceeding.
Here is a step by step how manually install the driver:

    1. download the drivers Dell Wireless 5.60.18.8.
2 check out the R29128.exe file using an extraction utility like WinRAR or just run it and quit the installation program.
    3. open the Device Manager of Windows by pressing Win + break, and then click on Device Manager on the left side.
    4 double-click network adapters.
5 double-click the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter entry.
6 click on the driver tab.
7 click the button Update driver .
8 click Browse my computer for driver software.
9 click on Let me take form a list of drivers for devices on my computer.
10 click the disk provided .
    11 click Browse.
    12. select the folder that you extracted the drivers you just downloaded in step 1. in.
13 select the subfolder DRIVER_US (if you are in the United States), DRIVER_JP (if you are in the Japan) or DRIVER_ROW (if you are in the rest of the world), according to the region you are in.
14 click on the Open button.
    15 click OK.
16 select the driver that says Dell Wireless 1510 Wireless-N WLAN Mini-Card of the list (you may have to scroll down to see - it presents itself as second to the last in the list for me).
17 click on the Next button.
18 you will get a warning that the driver that you are about to install is not compatible with your hardware. Ignore the warning and proceed with the driver installation.
19 restart your system if prompted to do so.
20 your new driver should now be properly installed and the speed of your wireless connection in the order.

III. If all else fails (or you've just had enough of boredom arising from the Dell Wireless 1510/Broadcom card)
Replace the Dell Wireless 1510 problem with a card half-mini Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 A/G/N (use the bluetooth as the third antenna antenna or buy you an additional antenna for this). It works very well with the M17x, has better connection speeds to strips of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (this last has speeds really bad on the Broadcom/1510), it has not required to jump through the hoops to make it work properly and much more, it works with standard drivers and Intel maintains their drivers up to date. It is also much more reliable and faster as well, especially on the 5 GHz band, but also on the 2.4 GHz band.

For more information on the subject of tweaking the settings of your Dell Wireless card, check out the official setting advanced properties: Dell Wireless WLAN Card User Guide.

I hope that this guide will help you solve your Wi - Fi connection and allow you to enjoy speeds of complete wireless connection on your laptop Alienware M17x.

Addendum: Quick links in this Guide

    Driver wireless Dell 5.60.18.8 version
Download the driver for the Mini PCI Dell Wireless 1510 card used in this guide.

Broadcom 943xx Wireless Driver version 5.60.18.41
Download the latest Broadcom driver as an alternative to the Dell a little older driver who may or may not solve the problems more. Some have seen more success than with the 5.60.18.8 drivers with it (you need to use the 802.11n network adapter driver rather than at the entrance to Dell Wireless 1510 Wireless-N WLAN Mini Card in step II.15. the guide when you use this driver).

Setting advanced properties: Dell Wireless WLAN card User Guide
Reference Dell official Manual/Guide on the various properties Advanced Dell Wireless cards.

    Card Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 A/G/N Half-Mini
Link to buy the demi-mini card Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 A/G/N of dell.com upgrade the crappy Wireless Dell 1510/Broadcom card that comes with the M17x.

  • Problem of DNS in Windows 7 wireless connection

New computer laptop gateway with Windows 7 was to connect to the internet for a month, until a few days ago, when I started to lose the wireless connection often. The only solution was to wait that it will eventually reconnect again. Other computers are connecting wireless with no problems. I get a message that it is a problem of DNS server. He usually tells me that I am connected to the wireless but the connection between the router and the internet is broken. Wired works fine. Suggestions?

    Hi lisina10

You can follow the steps below to check the NIC in Device Manager.
You can check if you have any exclamation point beside the devices listed. If you have, then there is problem with the card is installed.
I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the NIC drivers and check:
    a. click Startand then click Control Panel.
    b. click system and Maintenance, click Systemand then click on Device Manager.
Note If Control Panel is in Classic view, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    c. in the NIC, expand adapter, right click on the devices listed and then click Uninstall.
    d. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click on OK.
    e. restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, the drivers will be installed automatically. Check after this procedure if you are able to get access to the network.

You can also check the driver through windows updates updates. Check out the link for additional assistance mentioned in the update drivers below:

  • Windows 8 wireless connection problem

I just bought a new laptop with Windows 8 and half an hour to put on, I lose network connectivity wireless on all devices in my home, new laptop, iphone, ipad, galaxy tablet.  The ipad, the iphone, and the Tablet first in loose connectivity followed by the laptop.  As soon as I turn off the phone followed by the router (BT homehub 1 I think), connectivity is restored on the ipad, iphone and tablet.  When I turn on the laptop back, connection is restored there too but not for long.  I checked the router and all the lights are lit and not flickering.  I ran the Windows diagnosis and this is the result «a network cable is not plugged in correctly or may be broken...» Detected (there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it which I assume means not fixed...) Problem with access point or wireless adapter... Fixed).  I checked all the cables and they look very good.  BT send me a home 3 hub even if they don't think that the router is the problem.  I remember not being near the router when I first created the connection with the router wireless.  Not sure if it is relevan.t I am at my wits end.  I am not knowledgeable about these things, and after having my laptop for a week I could not enjoy it at all.  Thank you

  • Windows XP installation hangs when the BIOS is set to AHCI

I have Windows 7 on my computer. It has a motherboard Asus P8Z77 - V LX with the AHCI BIOS.

Now, I would like to install Windows XP to a dual boot set up so that my son can continue to play some of their old games XP.

When I tried to install XP, I got the BSOD during the first phase of the installation process.

Internet research, I discovered that Windows needs a controller AHCI driver and that I could use F6 to install the appropriate driver to a diskette during installation or wake the driver in a Windows installation CD using a program called nLite. I chose the latter because there are no floppy drive on the computer. I chose the version XP 32 bit Intel (R) series 7/216 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller to wake.

I used my newly created installation disk and the initial phase of installation is fine, but after the first reboot, just like the Windows XP GUI interface appeared, the system crashed, rebooted and crashed again.

The only way I could get XP install was to change the BIOS to IDE, then it installed fine. But Windows 7 does not load unless I have change the AHCI BIOS so that's what I've done so far.

Suggestions as to how I can either get XP to install in AHCI mode or change it to AHCI mode, once it has been installed in IDE mode?

OK, my apologies, it seems I have didn't read entirely your answer. I have BSOD stop 7B have treated several times and has been guilty of inaccurate "quick read".

However, I gave you a possibility through response to your last paragraph...

install the drivers for XP AHCI as it is started in IDE mode, and then change the AHCI BIOS

.. have you tried this? What were the results?

After thinking a bit about this possibility, it may be a good idea to restart in IDE mode after installing the AHCI driver before then stopping and switching to AHCI mode.

As far as I know there are only two possibilities for the installation of the AHCI driver when installing XP. You dismissed one of them (Setup F6 disk) and you say that the other does not have a bootable system. Maybe you could try to "slipstreaming" once again, in which case the process did not work properly. Where did you get the drivers from making the wake? Was it the same place as the link I posted above? Absence of "slipstreaming" or the purchase of a (cheap) floppy drive, my only suggestion is that I repeated above.

Finally, can you confirm that it is stop 7B that you get? If not what stop do you receive?

    Tricky

    Hello I am,.

Please download the screenshot of the error and paste it into your reply to better support your question. During this time, navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\User account photos. Now here you will see the user and comment photos. Replace them with the image you want to resolve as the user account picture. Make sure you use the same format and the size of these images. Reboot and your desired photo will be defined as user account picture.

P.S.: ProgramData folder is hidden by default.

I also already checked the pit of the Wireless Device Manager device.  It is activated and works perfectly.

I know that the network is enabled and works because I'm typing this message on my desktop wireless capable of Windows XP.  In addition, my roommate is able to connect to the router and 'surf' the internet on their laptops.

Therefore, I must assume that this problem is due to something in Windows 7.

  • Pavilion dv7-7205tx envy windows 8 wireless connectivity

A first tried the sticky post and when trying to update the drivers available via this link, windows 8 still sees the current drivers as the most up-to-date.

There is no info on this laptop on HP site so I can't update all the drivers myself right now, so if someone can tell me the right drivers who can fix a problem with the Atheros QCA9565 wireless I would appreciate it.

Using Windows 8, fine internet connection via ethernet to Dlink Di526 (oldschool Yes..)

2 other pc Windows 7 have thin connection to the wireless router

Phone selects picks up wireless and connects very well

Try wireless on HP and it detects the network but can connect only with limited connectivity, no internet.

Driver for Atheros is 10.0.0.77 dated dated 15/08/2012, and I tried the 10.0.0.212 in date driver dated 28/09/2012 with the same result.

I think that its a problem with the Atheros with Windows 8 compatibility.

Anyone else has a similar problem?

Have you tried the driver found here to your support portal for portable computers on the web page of drivers and applications?

    The driver is for Windows 8 (32 & 64-bit)

  • Unable to connect to the Windows store and cannot change the account back to Microsoft Account

Original title: question of Windows 8

    Hello world

I almost broke my laptop trying to solve the problem of connection app win8. I have portable branch one month before, it was all alrigh except one extremely annoying thing. I could not use win 8 apps, I couldn't go to 8.1, could not use weather and etc. After that I tried almost everything I decided to cool off. Wow. Initially working store, however it asked me to upgrade upgrade windows essential stuff and so I did. And now again the same problem - unable to connect to store, can't change user of windows one...  It's just loading forever, absolutely all applications...

    (1) Changed to the local user - can't change it back.

    wsreset 2) used several times

    (3) firewall off and both Windows defender

    Future prospects for the answer.

    Hi there.)

Problem is solved. BTW, it seems that these questions are simply copied and pasted. What a shame.

    (1) it is quite indifferent to me.

    (2) wireless, which is irrelevant as well

    (3) No, as I wrote in the first post - they are all off

    (4) failed to connect

    (5) I wrote in the first post that, after updates, was not able to do something with win8 apps

Right, the thing was in one of the updates. I second refresh and created restore point. Updates that had to get 8.1 (which are the firewall or something like that), after all, created second restore point and downloaded the rest 80 + and here again the same story - cannot connect. This is a problem, your updates - lol. So I restored and the second point and kept without updates, finally, this updates past the list and some of them will update automatically, however I was not lost access to the victory store and now I have 8.1

It's so funny to see how thousands of users still cannot access win store due to the error of the software engineer.

    Best wishes

If all goes well, it will help those who are looking for a solution.
