Windows 8.1 j6480

My Officejet j6480 has stopped working after I installed Windows 8.1.

Then, I completely uninstalled all HP software, including using the software "scrubber", that I found on the HP website.

I downloaded the latest drivers for full functionality and installation of the software (as dated 14-10-2012) and extract it and nothing happened.

I find the files extracted to the user\appdata\local\temp folder and find setup.exe.  I tried runnig in windows 7 and windows compatibility modes 8, but it just hangs (it shows that run in the Task Manager, but nothing happens).

HP will provide an update of drivers version soon?  I'm completely unable to print.

I just tried to add the printer in the Add Printers dialog box and a pilot were found by windows, but I get an error (no details) when I try to print a test page, or any type of document.  I can't scan anything either.

In addition, the printer is connected to the network via ethernet (ie. not wireless and not directly to the computer via the USB port).

Another 2.5 hours trying different things.

Finally, I have unplugged the printer, got its connection (in my case by ethernet cable) and then run the Setup (using the steps described in the link previously provided by HP.

This time, the installation was asked what type of installation, I tried (USB, wireless or wired), and I chose wired.

Finally, it prompted me to connect the ethernet cable, I did, and then it scanned my printer.  He did not find it until I actually turned on the printer... as expected.  Once I turned it on, he discovered the printer and complete the installation.

I am able to use the print AND scan options now, via the HP software.

Only took 6 months...

  • All-in-one Officejet J6480: printer Officejet J6480 on Windows 10

I've owned a printer all-in-one Officejet J6480 for a few years.  I bought a new Lenovo computer several months that came with a free to Windows Update when 10 is which would be published.  I managed to load the J6480 software and everything worked very well, including the scanner.  When Windows 10 came out I upgraded to it and rebooted the printer software and everything worked fine.

Then about two weeks ago, all the J6480 would do is printed.  When I tried to open the HP Solution Center to scan a document all I had was a 'ping' and the Center does not open.   So I tried to remove all the HP software and re - load.  It would be the load but not completely.  I kept getting the message that "the application you are trying to use has been blocked to open because it could damage your PC or the loss of data. This is because some applications that worked with a previous version of Windows may not work the same way with Windows 10 ".  I do not understand why it worked fine for a few months with 10 windows and now it's incompatible, unless there was an automatic upgrade (Windows 10 or HP) that is now causing the conflict.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software several times but to no avail.  Can anyone suggest a solution?

  • Windows 8.1 settles OfficeJet J6480

http://www.HP.com and when I tried to install it it tells me in a windows error message that it cannot find a specified file.  Then I tried to do it from the CD supplied with the printer, I got other error messages.  This is the third time I tried to install my software full OfficeJet J6480 on my laptop Lenovo Windows 8.1.  I downloaded the software from the printer does print and software immediately recognizes.  I would like however to use is full of features like scanning and provides the fax service. Now it only prints, but I can't use the other features.   I even install the patch for the printer with Windows 8.1 Windows Update to not have a good result.  If I get a new printer, it will not be HP for sure!

Take a look at this thread where I worked with various people to fix this type of problem.

All you probably need to do is turn off realtime Virus and spyware scanning in Mcafee Livesafe 2014.

    I hope this helps.

    3. Right click on your printer.

You can download the recommended full driver HP here. Download the driver to your computer and then run it once it has been downloaded.  Do not connect the printer to the computer up to be instructed by the installer.

  • Software AIO HP J6480 problem, I think

    Having two computers:

HP computer HP 8000 Elite SFF Core 2 Quad 2.83 GHz, 8 GB Ram, 750 GB HDD, DVD - RW, Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) - wired for computer / HP AIP

HP ENVY laptop i5 WIN8.1 64-bit networking with HP AIO.

When I bought the URGE, I installed the HP Solution Center AIO software and have installed v140.0.18.23.

When attemption to access the J6480 of ENVY, I get a message that says, I need to reinstall the AIO software to make it compatible with 64-bit WIN8.1.

I can however choose 'run' anyway and risk of compatibility problems.  If I run in any case, HP AIO seems to work very well.

I tried to download the seemingly correct software on the following site, to remove the message:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&LC=en&DLC=en&product=3635378

But nothing does not download from this site, and I am not prepared to uninstall software J6480 existing my DESIRE until I have a new driver on my laptop to install.

    Must I might uninstall?

J6480 worked very well for my Wired HP ELITE desktop computer.

    Thoughts, please.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3. 256 GB hdd, 8 GB of RAM. WIN 10; Docking station; 4 TB WD My Cloud mirror SAR for the storage file. HP LaserJet Pro M201 and HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 AIO. HP Elite 8000 Slim, SFF, Core 2 Quad 2.83 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 750 GB HDD, WIN10 (used mainly for broadcasting and as a PC Backup)

I downloaded the software HP Solution Center (HPSC) of your download of lin Thaks for this.

As a reminder, the Assistant said driver software was up to date.

What's happened is the software installed the HP Solution Center Bing toolbar (I clicked on the "add more software" only apparently viable option).  Another option was to uninstall and that do not make sense.  Would I have done that?

Solution Center open and I checked, do not show warning / error again.

So I decided to leave the shortcut to HPSC to pin to the taskbar, and it seems to work very well.

And I have the software on my PC if I need to uninstall and reinstall same.

As long as v140.0.18.23 is the current version of J6480 to WIN 8.1, then the question is / seems to be resolved.

Will have access to the HPSC future from Pin to the taskbar.

    Thank you.

    Thank you.

    Hey @mjmorse00,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have some problems with the all-in-one printer Officejet J6480 after reinstaling on your Windows 7 PC. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:

    1. If the printer is connected to the printer via a USB cable, remove it.
    2. Close any programs you have open.
    3. Click on start and open devices and printers.
    4. Right-click on any icon of your printer listed.
    5. Click on remove the instrument.
    6. Repeat for any other icon of your printer listed.
    7. If you removed the USB cable, connect.
    8. Click on add printer and select your printer from the list.
    9. On the screen that asks you to select a driver for your printer, find the driver for Deskjet 9800.
    10. Continue adding a print to your printer queue.

Please let me know if that solves your problems. If so, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • HP Solution Center no longer works after update of HP Officejet J6480

HP will provide an update to fix this problem?  If anyone has had the same problem (if so, how fixed?)?

HP has pushed down the updates on a week earlier for my HP Pavilion Elite e9270f running Windows 7 64 bit home and domestic all-in-one Officejet J6480 which are connected wirelessly via my network.  HP Solution Center had worked for several years until then, but now can no longer connect to the J6480 with all the features.  Devices and printers in Control Panel displays the connection.  HP HPHNDU.exe utility displays the connection.  Print from works of MS Office products as ok HP Solution Center no longer works.  I can't scan documents to the PC (that it is pulled by the PC or pushed by the J6480).  I used http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02266743 instructions and the software of HP Officejet and Driver Removal Utility OJJ6400_Scrubber_13.exe to remove all aspects of the printer and the software.  Then reinstall them using (with HP printer install wizard HPPIW.exe), but the new installation also fails linking the center of solutions HP (printing still MS Office programs).  According to me, it is a plague of HP inflicted that should have a solution from HP.  FG 120201

This has caused me a lot of hours of installation / reinstallation of the software only to have it crash in the middle of the installation.

The reason for the relocation is that a Windows UPdate yesterday, my AIO started printing on its own even when nothing was in the print spooler.  The page printed with a small 1/4 or @ sign or such a thing in the upper right corner and these pages with only the symbol several times printed on each page.

So I uninstalled the J6480 software and reinstalled a file by downloading the latest version of "OJJ6400_Full_13", dated to August 2012.
