Windows-8 pdf files and print
I have a HP Pavilion computer and a printer Photosmart 7520. It allows to print documents WORD, but not the pdf files. In addition, the pdf screen seems very different from that of the WORD screen.
Hello McMahan.
I saw this with the Metro from Adobe version. You should go to http://get.adobe.com/reader/
and download the desktop version. make default for .pdf files. This should work for you.

We have several users who claim that they have been able to select several files PDF and select print. He would then send a single stream and end up in a single document. These are the users of reader.
We have tested under 10.1.4 and 11.0.06 player and were not able to make it work. Is it still possible?
Not possible with Acrobat Reader.

I can't set up file and printer between my laptop and desktop sharing, both running Vista Home Premium. The printer is connected to the desktop computer that is connected to the router. The laptop is wireless. In network and sharing center when I do a "view full map", both computers show, but one that I'm not on (either way) is indicated by a line broken instead of solid, and I don't see any info on it on

I have recently installed Windows 10 free update. Now I am unable to delete .pdf files and get the invalid error message "Function MS-DOS." It has never been a problem with the previous Windows 8.1. I contacted Microsoft technical support and they told me there is a problem with the .pdf application and I need to contact Adobe Acrobat. This can be corrected?
uninstall any version of acrobat is installed.
clean by Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat tool - Adobe Labs
Restart your computer.
delete all to delete pdf files.
If this fails, it is a problem of ms. If this attempt is successful, then reinstall your acrobat.

Work around the window "save PDF file under ' registration
In Adobe Acrobat Professional 10, is there a way to bypass the window "save PDF file under ' and have just the file save as the same file name or a different file name? Then once I select 'Adobe PDF' printer and click Print, I would like that the file just to save in the same directory, in that it is. I don't care if it overwrites the existing file or creates a new file.
The Ride: I'm using the portfolio feature, then using the configuration of the printer for each file to reduce by 20%. Using the print to pdf feature, I'm resave files reduced. 2000 files in the portfolio, and I don't want to see this Save As pop-up 2000 times.
In the printer preferences, cut request file name.

I have an office of another manufacturer which was connected by a wireless network via a Belkin router for a laptop another manufacturers - both running XP.
I have now replaced the other laptop with a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100 - 02 M under Vista Home Premium. While I can still access the Internet from both machines, I can't open the LAN to share files and printers. The laptop shows 'LAN Unplugged' all the time. Any ideas would be accepted with gratitude.

Hello
I have no general solution, but I'll try to give some advice solution;
If you want to connect laptop with LAN cable both please make sure that you use a crossover ethernet cable.
In addition, check if the network card is properly recognized in Device Manager. You could try updating the LAN driver and remove the NIC in Device Manager to update the installed driver.
After restarting again the operating system should recognize the new (Lan) device and should install it automatically.I also studied a bit in this forum and found a similar thread:

By the way; Microsoft provides a very useful page on Vista and how to configure the network, the file and printer sharing and troubleshooting

I am running XP Pro SP 3 on a working group. I'm trying to access the files from a Windows 7 machine on the same workgroup. But the XP firewall blocking UDP 137 and 138 even though exception "File and Print sharing" is selected. When I disable the XP firewall, all right.
Here are a few entries in the firewall exception log file:

2012-06-01 09:53:29 DROP UDP 192.168.2.11 192.168.2.255 138 138 202 - RECEIVEI did some research on another site, and I came up with the FIX for this issue. It has to do with the node XP somehow getting ready to type "Peer-to-peer". I applied the fix in this article:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/903267
and the problem is now solved.
Please come back and let everyone know how you fixed the end!
However, the fact that this has happened and you don't know how concerned me (if it was my machine).
Here's what I propose for extra cleaning:
Search for malware:
Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:
Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)
Search online with eSet Online Scanner.
The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:
Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know usingGoogle (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.
You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Hi Katmandu774,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.
The Public folder is a convenient way to share files that are stored on your computer. You can share files in this folder with other people using the same computer and with people using other computers on the same network. Any file or folder you put in the folder Public is automatically shared with the people who have access to your Public folder.
If you are not on a domain, you can limit network access to the Public folder so that people with a user account and password for this computer. To do this, turn on sharing protected by password.
- Open the network and sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click network and Internet, click network and sharing Center.
- Click the arrow next to password protected sharing, and then click one of the following options:
· Turn on password protected sharing
· Turn off password protected sharing
- Click apply. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
To control the level of access to the Public folder
- Open the network and sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click network and Internet, click network and sharing Center.
- Click the arrow next to public folder sharing, and then click one of the following options:
· Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can open files
· Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can open, change and create files
· Turn off sharing (people logged on to this computer can still access this folder)
- Click apply. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Also, make sure you add everyone to the public folder and give the necessary permissions to access it.
