Windows 8 questions...

Hi all

I have a HP Envy 14, i5 460M processor, 6 GB of RAM & ATI Mobility Radeon 5650, now I wondering if anyone you having the same laptop, tried to upgrade to Windows 8. If yes has been the problems? I heard the graphic card drivers did not work properly and that they were not able to switch between GPU energy saver or performance GPU.

Thank you!

Looks clean (64 bits ISO English), I mounted the ISO on a virtual drive files and ran the Installation Manager until he was going to install W8 and all went well _ the product key worked for.

So what you want to do is burn ISO non-rewritable DVD files and become you installation disc.

I also found that this version will expire in 1 year during which I will assume that it ask for a product key.

  • Bootcamp Windows 10 question

    Hi all

Stumbled upon a problem, try to install Windows 10 an end 2014 27' iMac w/retina education runs Yosemite 10.10.5. Bootcamp is V 5.1.4. 32 GB, 3.5 ghz Intel I5. Disk of 1 TB of Fusion. Before you try this, I read the guide of Bootcamp to install windows, but also a number of other tutorials and forum messages about potential problems. This research, I learned that for EDU edition you must change the name of the file from Win10_1607_Education_English_x64.iso to Win10_1607_English_x64.iso. Apparently to have the former name of the file may cause OS X to not recognize the ISO. That fact I started Bootcamp, waited while the software downloaded and created a bootable USB key and partitioned my drive giving Windows 70 GB of space. After that, I got the message that my computer is restarts. Upon restarting, I got the black screen with the blue Windows logo and a spinning loading animation. After a few minutes, a blue screen with a message "Windows has encountered and error with computer and must restart," or something similar. He was pretty quick, so maybe it's not word for Word, but it was not a helpful post in terms of saying something specific. When the computer reboots, I am sent directly to OS X, though a bit slower than normal. I tried to restart with the flash drive to see if the installer would start up, no dice. Try now the Option key at startup, the flash player is not available. Went into my settings to see if I could change my startup on Win disk install USB, no luck it no more.

Now for the question: How can I get the Windows installation again? What I have to start the process, and if so, what should I use Bootcamp to delete the partition that was created? I have re-run Bootcamp and the only option that is checked is the partition and start and install/uninstall windows and delete the partition.

    Thanks for the help.

    Perform the following two procedures

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac - Apple Support

How to reset the NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

If you use a USB drive, not a USB flash drive, you will have problems. It is recommended to use a 8-16 GB USB2 flash drive.

If the installation program is located on a USB Flash drive, stop your Mac, connect the USB key, restart and hold down the alt/option key and select the Windows icon in the USB port. This installs Windows in BIOS mode. If you click the start EFI icon, it will install using the EFI mode (faster). You may need to change the partition from MBR to GPT using GPT Fdisk.

HI guys! Try to set up a fast enough for 4 k machine NLE here, began with a refurb Z820. Managed to get 10 Windows running without much of a fight. One last question, that I can't understand and I watched and read until my eyes covered in blood with no posotive result.

In - other devices - Pci Serial Port Device Manager.  I have a Pci bus 0, device 22, only function 3 no error driver installed. As far as I know I installed all the drivers, updates, etc., etc... at least two times.

As everyone on this forum has more experience with HP workstations then I thought that I would return it to the wiser.

    Thank you for your help.

    o.k. now.

Retrace my steps, always a good thing when lost and confused, I realized that when I installed the Intel sp744499.exe management software, I didn't follow directive and that run the extract program of it is installed destination! Down & here when end of step B as written in the release notes, you no longer have to fix the latter on issues. Lesson learned - read all the instructions you can find, including the release notes.

  • OfficeJet 4630: HP 4630. Message offline and windows 8 questions

Hi, am a 4630 all-in-one. fashion 'sleep' something mobile (iPhone, iPad or android tablet) wakes up it and it prints perfectly. PC, however, is another question, he wakes up not at all. Even when her awake, we still sometimes get a printer of saying error message is offline.

This isn't the end of the problems. When we finally get it to print something the PC it will no print and a half pages, spit on the printed page, half with an error message saying: it has been a problem. Doesn't mean what the problem is.

Please help, its been my head now. What we want is a printer that prints, we never had any problems with HP stuff before and it's just incredibly frustrating, especially when my son tries to print working from home.

Please help, before he found a window!

    Hi there @ricfrench!

Please contact us on the HP Forums!

I see that your Officejet 4630 does not only when printing from your computer running Windows 8.  I wouldn't advice the former on the method of the window.  If the printer is capable of printing from mobile devices and test stand alone as a photo and then copy the firmware and hardware in the printer works properly.  Looks like you can have a light software or a firewall problem possible cause.

The first thing I recommend is to uninstall the HP software. Once the uninstall is complete, it would be wise to perform a cleanup of the computer disk. A disk cleanup will improve the performance of the computer and remove the temporary files that may cause problems during the installation of the software. Once disk cleanup you must restart the computer and reinstall the HP software.

To uninstall the HP software, click here: uninstall the HP software

  • 8 General Windows upgrade question

    Dv6-6140us

I am debating whether or not to get the upgrade of windows 8 or not. The upgrade will sweep everything on my drive? If I went out and bought windows 8 at Best Buy, etc. and installed, it will wipe my drive?

    Good question!

With your laptop Windows 7 If you decide to upgrade to Win8 you can choose the wipe and reinstall method or simply be upgraded without wiping the drive. The reason more clean the disk to upgrade is to get addional features that have been added with the BIOS updates on their cell phone (Ex: UEFI BIOS for Secure Boot).

With your system, you can just choose the upgrade and do not have programs becides of issues that might not be compatible or lack of drivers at the moment.

If I were you I would wait a couple of weeks and let the ethusiasts test retail upgrade/features/performance to get a good idea of the issues that you might encounter.

  • Windows recovery question

    Hello

My HP dv6 laptop acted strangely lately... no opening/installation/uninstallation programs esp. HP, not looking for drivers for various things etc.

I was advised to use the recovery partition to reinstall my windows. However, I have a few questions about it. First, is - this will reformat and clear my C drive?

Secondly and most importantly, my PC originally supplied with Windows Vista, which I later upgraded to Windows 7 (with free upgrade kit). Using the recovery partition reinstall Windows Vista or Windows 7?

    Thanks for your help!

If you have a system image you created third-party software, I wouldn't bother go back to Vista, all this is long just to create a recovery disc game the worst thing that will happen, you will need to spend $ 20.00 and order a set of HP, but this is an unlikely scenario.

As mentioned, I recommend always erase the entire disc during installation of W7, which includes the Vista recovery partition.

In the tutorial he gives instructions on how you can use your W7 disk editing to delete all partitions and create the space not allocated.

W7 will automatically format the disk later if you don't even have to do.

Once is installed to connect to the internet (there is an option for you to do during the installation) and then go to Windows Update in Control Panel and updates. In many cases, Windows will detect some drivers for you. Keep control of the updates until it finds no more (this can be a long process).

After the update is complete will support you page and install you chip set and then you driver video driver, in that order, if Windows has already done.

Before you begin, please give me you full model number dv6-xxxx xx. I want to see what's available for your drivers for W7.

I recommend also using Microsoft security Essentials (Windows updates will find it). I used to have a pretty expensive version of Eset and I've always had a virus, so I even bother pay for anti-virus software.

W7 has a nice feature that allows to create a system image and a system repair disc (your install of W7 disc can also be used this repair disc)

Once W7 installed and working, we need to create the image of your DVD system. If you get a nasty virus, boot from your "system repair disc" and reinstall W7 (at the time where your created DVD) of your disc image system

When you add new programs and software, you can create new sets and throw the 'old', how ever I recommend that you keep the very first made series that they are essentially as your partition recovery Vista only with W7 on them.

Always use Sony DVD + R.

You will find this new feature in 'Control Panel' under 'backup and restore. "

Also, if your computer has a hard disk secondary W7 will automatically create the image of the system on this drive, if you allow it to, but I always set mine on DVD as well.

One last thing, try not to use your kit extension with your drivers on them, I believe that HP can have sent you this drive, HP tends to be wrong. Once, I have your complete model number, I can help you with this news.

Just to underline once again, do not delete the Vista partition recovery after W7 install, follow the instructions in the tutorial to remove before installing W7. This is important.

  • Upgrade to Windows 10 question

    Hello :)

AFAIK, you can upgrade all three systems.

  • Help please - Windows update - restart issues (and upgrade to Windows 10 questions?)

    Hello

I wanted to switch to Windows 10 but got stuck on the "start download" page, as have other users.

Looking through the other questions on this site, I have seen that Windows update may need to complete before you start with Windows 10.

I had not run windows update for a long time I thought that would mean Windows 10 would install and I wasn't ready for this, but now I am.

Then I ran windows update and more than 150 updates have been installed.

    However, he now says:

"Restart your computer to install important updates

Windows cannot update services and important files while the system uses them.  Save... "

I rebooted, shut down, rebooted several times, but this message continues to appear in the Windows Update window.

Still, the update of Windows 10 stuck initially download.

I ran disk cleanup in safe mode, as well as normal and tried to restart, but it did not help.  I tried the troubleshooting windows update option, but this did not help.

I used two tools, the Microsoft FixIt who did not help and a WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab file which allows to find the two errors and saying: he fixed them, but this still does not work, IE always ask me to restart and Windows 10 gets stuck to download from.

The two problems it finds are listed as:

"Windows Update error 0 x 80070005(2016-05-30-T-08_49_44P)" and is listed as fixed

"Problems install the latest updates" and is considered to be fixed.

I am at my wits end and would be really grateful for the help.

If this becomes technical, please help me in using a step by step method or referring to one for me.

    I have a laptop of Toshiba Windows 7 64-bit.

    Thanks in advance

EDIT: I ran the above diagnostic tool and the error was fixed progresses over time, that is to say it is correct to say 09:03 now...  Also, to revise accordingly the so-called updates installed, many of them, but not all, have the status of a failed.

  • Digital Dictaphone with Windows 7 questions. Recorder current is not compatible and do not find online that will be compatible.

I recently bought a computer with Windows 7 64 bit home edition for my father. His job requires him to use a digital voice recorder to dictate things and send by e-mail to his company in the .dss format. He is currently using a recorder Olympus DS 330 on its old Windows XP machine. I called Olympus to ensure (an Olympus DS-330 recorder voice digital) device would be compatible with Windows 7 BEFORE buying the new computer for him. They assured me that "with version 7.1 of their new software it should be compatible. I was worried because the rep on the phone with me does not seem very confident in her answer and him using the word "should" is never a good thing.

Sure enough I got the new Windows 7 computer running, installed the software, they told me to get their site, connected his player... The device has been recognized as connected BUT no driver could be found. Nothing I've tried the last hours won't work because there is simply no driver of Olympus or someone else to make this device work with Windows 7. To make matters worse I can't find a single digital voice recorder to buy for him online that IS compatible with Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit.

I thought that this OS was not suppose to have questions 'pilot' that brought the Vista. Clearly, this isn't the case. Now I'm stuck with a computer of my father can not use everything just because Windows 7 can't find enough important digital voice recorders work with. Someone has an idea of a recorder of the word that is compatible with windows 7? Yes I have not looked at this site "Compatibility Windows"... no luck. So, if I can't find a... Looks like we're $500 thanks a ton Olympus and Windows 7!

    Thanks for posting that.

The compatible ID confirms that it is not only a storage device, so it uses just the drivers supplied with Windows.  If this isn't a problem with Windows 7.  This is a problem in which the hardware vendor must be resolved.

I searched online for the VID & PID and found only a few strokes on Bing.  None of them make no mention of 64-bit support.  And they are all pretty old.  I see dates pilot since 2001.

So the best option is to contact Olympus again to see if they have drivers for Vista 64 bit or Windows 7 64 - bit for this device, or to confirm to you what devices ARE supported on 64-bit.

Looks like the above driver package for their recorders VN series.  It seems to be relatively cheap - http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1389&fl=5&acccategory=84 (the VN5200 is still cheaper).

I have an end user who is having an interesting question, the environment is Server 2003 and Windows 7 Pro. This end user was able to use the Center to sync several months ago and had no problems, what they remember. This user also has access (authorization) to access the other users on this network share folders. Two weeks ago, they have lost this ability, and this is where it gets interesting for me.

As soon as I re - activate sync only Center files to end-users are available again. I tried to delete the files 'offline' and I tried to go directly to other users files directly with no luck. The only thing that seems to work is to turn off Sync Center, but the user does not like that because they want their backup files. • Coprocessor Windows 7 questions

Hi, I've been running windows 7 on my system AMD Phenom 9750 X 4 since the RC version and decided to test it on my laptop as well. Is not so much as a problem though its something in my device manager, I noticed that the coprocessor and 2 base system devices are displayed with a yellow warning symbol in "other devices" and when I try to update automatically is no solution.  I also tried the HP website and I highly doubt there will be drivers windows 7 for my laptop because he's older. Its a DV9310ca from HP with Turion x 2 TL-50 with 2 GB of ram. I guess my question is, is there a solution or is this a known problem?

    Hi KrisBorn,

Thanks for posting on the Forum of answers.

You could try to download the Vista drivers for your laptop if available.
Looking at the Web page for your laptop, you may have received a drivers disk that contains the drivers for the devices. You could try updating the drivers using the disk if it comes with Vista.

If it is a 64-bit computer, you will need 64-bit drivers.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows 8 to 8.1 Windows upgrade question.

    Hello.

I just learned today that if I don't upgrade to windows 8.1 at the end of June 13, I receive are more updates.

But I don't really trust the sources you gave me, so I thought I'd ask the community and microsoft directly through this thread.

    On this new page http://www.deccanchronicle.com/140605/technology-latest/article/upgrade-windows-81-one-week-deadline.

It states that if I don't upgrade to windows 8.1, I will no longer receive updates, but when I look at the other pages of news with the 'Windows 8.1 period', it only mentions Windows 8.1, 8.1 of Windows and Windows Server R2 (?) RT Devices, this has confused me.

    So my question is this.

Will I receive updates and updates to security after the June 13 I decide to not upgrade to Windows 8.1?

With Windows 8, you have no problem, you will continue to receive the updates of Windows like graphical lifecycle support: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/lifecycle watch January 2023.

If you upgrade to 8.1 Windows then you need to install the upgrade of Windows, 8.1 update 1 in order to continue to receive Windows updates.
