Windows 8 - remove Apps on the starting grid

I have installed and played a lot of games on a site of game - free to play for an hour.  After that I uninstalled the games, they still appear in the application menu in Windows 8.  I want to delete them all from my screen.   However, if I right click on them, a check mark appears in the right corner and are the only options it lets me o: pine to Start - or - location of the file to open.  There is nowhere that I could find only remove them from the screen.  Can someone help me?

You could try "instead of opening the file" and then delete it from the folder that opens.

    Hello

Your Windows XP question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please post your question in the TechNet Windows Server forum.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows XP two entries in the start menu. I followed the program from one to the other files?

More of a problem of operating systems XP and how to bind the program files for the new version

My system was not properly initialize (continulally reseting) to repair the fault that I had to make a form of repair of the windows installation CD. I now have version 2 of the windows XP operating system (host1 and windows 2) on my computer. Windows 2 is the version that works (constantly does not restart) ok, but all my program files, documents, etc. are still linked to the old version (windows 1) and therefore do not apear in the start menu. Is it possible to have these appear in the windows start menu 2, so I don't need to reload all my programs and also allow me to remove this old version that has been corrupted and not lose my files and applications. Thanks in advance.

    Bill

    Hi Bill,

It seems that you have reinstalled Windows XP on a different partition. In this case, you will not be able to use the installer on another.

You will need to reinstall all the programs on the new facility and also, redo the settings.

You can follow the below mentioned article to remove the invalid entry in the start menu.

  • Windows 7 - LAN connection in the start menu, speed indicator bar not there

I use Windows 7 on several machines (64 and 32-bit). The LAN icon is visible in the taskbar. Under XP, LAN icon showed the name of the local network and its connection speed. Windows 7 does not seem to indicate the name of the LAN - no speed.

Can I get the speed is displayed on the icon (for example, 1.0 Gbps speed)? If Yes... How?

Thanks in advance for any help.

This feature has been removed with Vista. Start the Task Manager and go to the network tab, there you can see the speed of the network connection.

  • First time using Windows 7, files in Windows XP, removable disc in the process of disappearance

    Hello

Please note my steps and problems in moving from the personal files of my old Windows XP system to my new Windows 7.
    (1) copy of Windows XP hard drvie files to the removable disk (g)
    2) confirmed all files copied to G:
    (3) connect G: in Windows 7 system
    (4) when I go to computer and select the drive, the top-level folder is empty
    (5) under 'Computer' I confirmed 'free space' on G: is less than 'total size' suggests that there are files on the disk
    (6) I reconnect G to the old XP system and note once again that the folder is empty.  IF this isn't just a parameter "display".  Looks like that Win 7 is deleted or archived the files somewhere.
    (7) with my first attempts, I noticed a dumped error log G complain of FAT32 files.  I tried to convert it to NTFS, but it made the unusable disk.  so I changed.
Is this a possible virus problem?  Some would be with several previous attempts to copy all my files copy and some wouldn't.  I was suspicious of my old XP system so I installed and ran Microsoft Security Essentials.  A MSE scan reported no threats or viruses.  Kaspersky is running on my Win 7 system and similarly reported no problems.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thank you
    Peter.

    Hi Peter,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forums.

According to the description, it seems that you are facing problems with the USB that you get an error message that the disk is unusable after formatting using NTFS. I'll be happy to help you with this problem.

    (1) what is the brand and model of the removable disk?

    (2) you see the removable drive with the assigned drive letter in my computer?

    (3) what is the capacity of the removable disk?

    (4) have tried to check with another removable disk?

    (5) you have the backup of the files on the XP computer?

Wouldn't be a physical damage of removable drive, but with the file system in the removable drive.

Method 1: I suggest you to format the removable in my computer drive, if it is visible. If the format is not successful, I suggest you to format the removable drive using the command prompt.

    (a) click Start, type cmd, right click and select Run as Administrator.

    (b) type format X: (removable X :) drive letter.

Method 2: If the problem persists, I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of the removable drive to get help.

I hope it helps. If you have any questions about Windows in the future, please let us know. We will be happy to help you.

  • How to increase the number of lines of the App on the start screen

I use the Lenovo Yoga powered by Windows 8 RT. When I turn on my computer and it goes to the start screen, 3 rows of Apps are displayed. However, every now and then, for some reason, it displays 4 rows of Apps. I usually adjust my Apps to suit line 4 because I prefer that display but, it always changes back to 3 ranks.
I am sure I have the correct screen resolution and my computer sleeps 4 rows of apps on the home screen, but I'm just not how to do it. I have 4 rows Apps displayed permanently and not only sometimes by chance. I would really appreciate if someone could give me a step by step on how to do. Thank you.

This Friday, October 18, free to 8.1 Windows Update will be downloaded to your computer and your splash screen settings can be adjusted to display more lines.

  • Why windows 8 do not have the start menu

It is easier to access in windows 7

Windows 8 is designed for touch screens and desktop computers. It's also supposed to be more effective.

  • Validation in Windows Vista Home Premium at the start: errors and complications.

I was directed to this forum as a last chance for my situation.  I'll copy what I wrote before:

First of all: I can't run Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool.

With that of the road, I'll try to explain my situation.  Earlier today, I ran in the hope to get rid of some unnecessary files in disk cleanup. Well, he eventually delete most everything out of my C: drive.  So I ran a restoration of the system to an earlier time.  After the restoration, I tried to connect but received a box saying that my Windows Vista Home Premium product key is not valid.  They gave me three options:

Reduced functionality mode (does not work; see below)

    Enter the product key

Contact HP - do you have this: they wanted $ 100.

Now before to get started by offering suggestions, you need to get more information.

I can't use the reduced functionality mode.  When I click on it, an error with file not found window appears.  The only way I can access my desktop is by going into safe mode, and I can't go in safe mode with network.  So based on this little bump in the road, I was not able to use the tips I found online, because none of those working in safe mode.

Now there is more.  Frustrated, I tried to follow guides anyway.  So I followed the following steps:

    Step #3 game

    (1) open Internet browser

    (2) Type%windir%\system32into the browser address bar.

    (3) find the CMD.exe file

    (4) make a right click on CMD.exe and selectrun as administrator

    (5) type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, click Yes)

    (6) type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing

    (7) type: Rename tokens.dat tokens.bar

    (8) type: cd %windir%\system32

    (9) Typenet start slsvc

    (10) type: cscript slmgr.vbs - FLIR (it may take time for this will be complete, please be patient)

    (11) restart twice

Not only that not solve my problem (since I was in safe mode I was refused permission), but it has created a new problem.  Now when I start my computer normally, IM is more given three options (reduced functionality mode, enter a product key, contact HP).

Instead, when I log on, an error pops up saying: "Insert the Windows CD or installation DVD into your computer to begin the process of resettlement." Now, my computer was shipped with windows and everything installed by the factory with the sticker on the side of the tower.  I have no Dvd or Cd.

I've had this computer for almost 3 years and I can not lose what I have on my computer. I have a genuine copy of Windows.  I have no idea what I'm supposed to do now.

    I used these links:

Sometimes, when I started, the windows screen display turns on but is so out of the Center, (with a black border on the left) that the Start button is not on-screen. and I have to log off. I continue to log and, in time, the screen lights up properly.
