Windows Defender is originally an incredible amount of Lag.

Hello, I'm pretty new to these forums. I am running Windows vista.

Recently an update to Windows Defender has been popping up constantly saying "Windows defender has completed an update, press OK to complete the update process.

I click on this button and give him the permission, but does it again in the next hour or so.

Windows Defender came stock with the system and is not listed as a separate program.

I tried to disable windows Defender, she came back.

I tried to manually install the updates for it, it did not help.

I can't complete the process for it, it won't let me.

The window to appear is not only a big deal, except that it KILLS me playing online games.

When I play any game my latency time is ridiculously high.
For example: when I used to have 20s - 40s on Team Fortress 2 servers, now it is almost always close to 900.
These are servers with sides of the latency of 27-40.
And in Left 4 Dead 2, I saw not only my ping higher, but the more high ping I have ever seen in my life for anyone 1700.

This had never happened before and seemed only to start these updates to appear.

Please help me, I don't want to harm my hobby.

Captain.

In addition to what Boumediene said, it would be a good idea to scan.

I recommend you to download and install MalwareBytes' anti-malware (MBAM)and(SAS) SUPERAntiSpyware.

a FULL scan with SUPERAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes' .

http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php

reset

http://www.SUPERAntiSpyware.com/

reset

the programs are free. (there is a paid version, but you don't need to buy it to remove the malware).

Use internet explorer, that the system analysed here:

windows 7\vista http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm>

wait for your computer will be unavailable for a while. do not work on your computer while the scanners however running, he messes things.

Please let us know what fixes the problem or if the problem remains

PS

do * not * install and/or run MBAM in Mode safe - it is designed to be at full power in normal mode and in reality, it uses a special driver that does not work in Mode safe.

using MBAM in Safe Mode should be a * last resort * when everything has failed.

I have Windows Defender.  Should I still something like Norton installed on my laptop?

Yes. Windows Defender protects against spyware, no malware in general.

Your choice may be paid for the 3rd party program such as Norton or Kaspersky, or you can go for something free like Microsoft Security Essentials.

Make sure you have a firewall too.

What AV program do you use? (Not to mention your operating system). If you have MSE, or an installed security suite, it will automatically stop WD as it has its own version and runs two programs of this type at the same time causes conflicts.

  • Error: "Microsoft Client Protection was found" during the installation of Windows Defender

Original title : Blonde needs simple help

(while trying to install Windows defender) Microsoft Client Protection was found.  Remove and run WHERE AND HOW? Im blonde, what can I say

Looks like you already have Microsoft Security essentials installed. Windows Defender is not necessary if you use Microsoft Security Essentials. Microsoft Security Essentials has its own antispyware component builtin and allows you to disable Windows Defender by design.

  • Error message when you try to download Windows Defender: "first remove Microsoft Client Protection." Cannot find this file through the Add/Remove, search, including hidden or Win Explorer.

WinXP SP3, Security Scan run and d/ld: error message when you try to download Windows Defender: "first remove Microsoft Client Protection." Cannot find this file through the Add/Remove, search, including hidden or Win Explorer. What to do now would be much appreciated.

Also have a related problem about MS Maliciouws software removal tool. For download, but read in the KB that: in XP, the vacuum cleaner will remove the malware, but doing so may trigger the File Protection Win with damages to my operating system.  the tool will attempt to repair the damage, but to rehabilitate prior to infection, that I need to insert the CD of Win. As my computer came with Windows preinstalled, I do not have a disk and will not take the risk of damage, that I can't fix. Do I not download or not... ? Another solution... ?  I also fear that this tool could settle into the routine Win Update and need guidance on the prevention of this facility, if possible, or what to do if it cannot be prevented.

It can have nothing to do with any of the foregoing. " I'm relaying only because it occurred during the same mission of update: had msg of error that Win Firewall has not been set as a default, which reset, but found this hidden file when searching for the Protection of the customer: "Win 32/Hackdef' - it was a config with the extension ini file and was deleted by Scan."

Thanks a lot for any assistance.

    Hello

    ·         You have Microsoft Security Essentials on your computer?

If you have windows installed on your computer security essentials, then you will not be able to install Windows defender. Windows Security Essentials has antispyware component installed.

You get the error because you have installed MS Security Essentials, which has its own function to antimalware. You don't need or want to install Windows Defender, too. Leave MS Security Essentials installed and do not turn it off.

    Hello

    1. What exactly is the error message you reciev when you try to uninstall Windows Defender?
    2. You have Microsoft Security Essentials installed on the computer?

Microsoft Security Essentials has not automatically disabled Windows Defender in Vista or Windows 7, you must turn off to avoid conflicts. Windows Defender can't be uninstalled Vista or Windows 7.
If Microsoft Security Essentials does not automatically uninstall Windows Defender on XP, you must manually uninstall Windows Defender through Control Panel of configuration/Add / Remove programs.

I also have a problem starting Windows Defender, it just will not open.  Can you help me with the question of error and defender?
    Thank you

    Hi Mildred DeeCiabatoni,.

    Follow these steps:

Method 1: Check if the Windows defender service is running on the computer. Follow these steps:

    (a) click Start, type services in the start search box, and then click Services in the list programs.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) double-click on the Windows Defender service and then in the box type of start up, click Automatic. Click OK.

    (d) make sure that the service is set to automatic and started.

Method 2: Disable the security software on the computer and try to turn on windows defender and check.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable the antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3: Follow the steps in the article mentioned below.
