Windows detects the USB device slowly.

Separated from this thread.

I have this problem on a Panasonic F1 - GZ Toughpad. It has a USB 3 port. It has 8 GB of memory, less than half used and it works my a request.

The USB device is a FTDI USB KEY. This is a feature of full speed USB 2 (12 MB/s) according to the data sheet.

When I plug a FTDI USB - KEY, it takes several seconds to detect the USB STICK. Also, it takes several seconds to detect when the USB STICK is disconnected.

However, when I plug in a hub USB, plug the USB STICK in the hub, the detection is less than a second and the detection to be disconnected is less than a second.

I can't use a USB hub as a work-around, because it is a portable application. Perhaps some of you could use a hub as a workaround. ... If someone has an answer to reduce response time, please let me know.

The problem was solved by changing the parameters of the Toughpad BIOS for USB 3.0 to 2.0. Now the Toughpad detects the FTDI USB KEY in<1>

Please note in the previous post, the USB hub is powered and the FTDI USB KEY is not memory flash, it's a serial USB port with a serial number, but only the serial number is available.

  • Can I delay the prompt to begin to allow the USB device to connect in time?

    Hello

I use a guest linux 2.6 on the host of windows 7 that is running a GPS Simulator she starts and sends the GPS signal on a USB port. However, it seems to begin quickly on the USB be detected. If I stop and restart the Simulator after than the VM has started, it works fine.

So I was wondering if I can delay the start of the virtual machine so it has time to detect the USB device first.

    Thank you

    Hi TracMap,

    Welcome to the forums.

You can add a delay of starting your virtual machine. Manually change the configuration of your VM's VMX file and add a new line with:

    -bios.bootDelay = "xxxx".

'xxxx' is in millisecond. During this period, the virtual machine will stay on the screen of the BIOS in waiting for an entry and then start normally.

I hope it will work for you!

    Good luck.

  • Boot failure when you attempt to auto detect the USB mass storage devices

I have two USB mass storage devices.  The sizes are 320 GB and a to.  I had problems at the start to automatically detect a storage device.  After reaching the Office I can usually unplugg the 320 device, reconnect, Windows detects the device.

August 10, I bought an an external HDD TB to start the backup of my entire C: drive operations.  I rebooted automatically while watching a DVD tonight.  I rebooted the PC and hanged when executing start-up procedure notice of automatic detection procedures.  I held the Start button to shut off the PC. I unplugged the external hard drive, PC rebooted. Start continued without external devices.  I reconnected it the external hard drive upon arriving at the office.

The purchase of an external hard drive, see the same issue using the smallest disk, tells me that the error is in the operating system.

    Hi Troy382438,

    1. is this startup crashes before windows loads?

    2. you have SP2 installed on your computer?

If windows hangs at the POST (Power-on-self-test), you may need to update the drivers from the motherboard.

If windows crashes after windows loads, you can try the following steps.

    Step 1

Install SP2 if it is not installed.

    Step 2

Run a SFC (System File Checker) scan.

  • Error: One of the USB devices attached to this system has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.

tried already everything written here. When I plug my USB device (3 of them) my Windows a sad of the USB devices attached to this system has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. I tried plugging it into another winXP machine, it won't work. Can you help me?

    Original title: usb malfunction

    His salvation,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

    1. What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried so far?
    2. If it works much earlier? If so, did you do changes on the computer before this problem?
    3. What type of USB device you are using?

As you mentioned that the USB device does not work when plugged into a WinXP machine, it may be a problem with the device itself. In addition, the question may also arise if the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or damaged or if your PC requires an update for problems that could conflict with a device USB and Windows.

Therefore, I suggest you try the following methods (skip the ones that you already tried) and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Please try the fixit (s) provided below which will help you solve common problems associated with devices and USB ports.

If method 1 does not work, try Method 2.

    Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

    1. Open Manager devices by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of the categories of equipment, locate and expand Bus USB controllers.
    3. Right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    4. Restart the computer and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.
    5. Plug in the removable USB device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.

If the problem persists, go to method 3.

    Method 3:

This method will install the latest drivers from device to your USB device.

    1. Click the Start button, type Windows Update in the search box, and then click Windows Update in the results pane.
    2. Click find updates. When the scan finished, click optional review updates.
    3. Click the check box next to the update, and then click install updates.
    4. If you are prompted, read the license agreement, then click I agree.
    5. Follow the instructions on the screen to download and install updates.
    6. If you are prompted, restart your computer.

More information: Update a hardware driver that is not working properly

If the device fails after updating the driver, you can try to roll back the driver with its previous version.

Restore a driver with its previous version

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

    Hi Ewa,

    Thanks for the reply.

I suggest you to update the drivers for the chipset of your computer and check if it helps. You can use the link below. Select the appropriate component and the operating system from the list. The link given below is for Lenovo 11 2 yoga, if you have any other device then please provide us with the exact model number or select the correct model number.

As you mentioned that the other two USB ports work correctly, according to me is not a problem with the driver. It seems to be a hardware problem.

  • Installation Windows 10 from USB device

Try installing Windows 10 from a USB key that I bought new at Amazon.  I insert the USB key into the USB port and then restart the computer by pressing the F12 key and run the boot to the USB key.  The first screens here, but after entering the product key, I get a message telling me to remove the installation media and then restart my computer normally, and then reinstall the installation media.  This message is nonsense, because I can't find a Start Up file or an executable file on the USB key.

The USB device is formatted before Win10 was installed to it?

In addition, at the start of the pc, enter the BIOS, chip set 1st boot as peripheral USB, HD 2
