  • Windows Error Reporting service stopped recording of events in the event log, and now when it spawns werfault.exe, the process consumes the CPU until he is killed.

Windows error reporting service ceased to record events in the event viewer. The last successful entry was 26/03/2010. Since then whenever the service generates Werfault.exe to handle the error, the process seems stuck in a loop of consumer processor, but do nothing. It uses 99% of CPU (80% preferred), is not e/s and number of handles, thread, & working set do not develop.

Three Windows updates were installed in shortly after the last successful log entry (automatic update is enabled):

KB915597 def 1.79.702.0 & def 1.79.495.0 both for Windows Defender

    KB980182 for IE 7

I think that my system is clean, at least Spyware Doctor think it is. I also did some tests Ad-Aware. Windows Defender analyzes every day without error.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

    Hi Wannknow,

It's good information - and thanks for the thanks! You really only need to run an adware or virus (malware) program at the same time. What I would recommend is that you choose an adware program - either "Windows Defender" or "spyware doctor" and disable the other. This can be your root problem, so at this point I turn back on 'report of problems and solutions' and see if you experience the same problem:

    Again, here are the instructions:

    1. open Control Panel. (Press Ctrl-ESC and type 'control' is faster access method).

    2. click on "System and Maintenance" and then click "problem reports and solution."

    3. click on change settings in the left panel of the problem reports and Solutions window.

    4. Select Advanced settings.  In the "for my programs, problem report is: ' select 'off '. Click on CLOSE the

    Hope this helps,

  • Windows Vista will not stop or restart

When I try to quit or restart my computer, the screen indicates "SHUTTING DOWN", then the display shuts off, the power light goes off on the tower but increases the speed of the fan at maximum speed and the unit will continue to operate in this way until I have turn it off manually. When I try to turn the computer back on I get the same thing, the lights and the fan runs at maximum speed nothing else happens, the monitor does not come on or anything else, he just 'buzzes '. I'm not the only person having this problem, I know at least two other people who have exactly the same problem! I was told that a faulty update of Microsoft is to blame for the problem I encounter but I can't find a "solution" for this anywhere. I can do to remedy this? Need help please, I can't afford to buy a new computer at the moment and unable to restart, my computer works perfectly. All this trouble started about three weeks ago. Thanks for any help you might be able to offer me.

Thank you for your reply Diana, unfortunately I already took my computer to an expert for repair. I should be back soon, and I'll post the results and the 'fix', if possible, here, for others, who may be affected by the same problems.

Unregister Windows Installer and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. in the menu 'Start', click on ' execute:.»

    2. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.

    3. in the menu 'Start', click 'run '.

  • My Windows is unable to shutdown or restart System

I have Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 on my PC. Sometimes when I restart or shut down my windows, I click on stop or restart several times, BUT it turned off at all! This happens often when I worked with my PC, a lot of time.

    Can U help me?

    Hello Michele,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forum.

    1. What happens when you click on Restart/Shutdown?
    2. You did no particular change in the computer?

Disconnect all external devices and then try to stop/restart the computer.

Try to start the computer in safe mode and then try to shut down the computer.

Refer to: start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-AU/Windows/Start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=Windows-7

If the computer stops through safe mode, perform the clean boot.

Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

See the link to perform the clean boot.

Why my computer does not turn off?

Programs sometimes prevent Windows to close properly. When this happens, the screen darkens and Windows indicates which programs prevent the computer from closing, and sometimes why.

The dark screen displays two buttons: Force shutdown and cancel. Clicking Force shutdown closed all programs, closed the windows and then turns off your computer. If you click this button, you may lose all of the work that you have not saved, so if you need to save files, click Cancel to return to Windows and save your work.

Occasionally, you will need to stop manually a program is not responding.

    Hi madjid Susanto,.

    • Did you the latest changes on the computer?

    Method 1

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails then I would suggest that you post your request in the forums of Windows live for better assistance.
