Windows extremely slow 8 update

Blue screen with 2 Installation of 23... poster for ever.

The last time this happened I waited all night and everything was done.

Then I found a solution that solved this recurring problem, but he's back and I can't find where I filed my notes (old age)

Thanks for any help you can give.

Important: System Restore will return all system files not as documents, email, music, etc., to a previous state. These files of types are completely affected by the restoration of the system. If it was your intention with this tool to recover a deleted file to non-system, try using a file instead of system restore recovery program.

  • Imports are extremely SLOW after update to 2015.3

I am experiencing gruelingly slow imports, several minutes to 1 clip that, before the update was almost instantaneous. I produce a weekly and have a very solid workflow that is identical to each week. The only thing that has changed is the version of the first everything is technically identical to before including the clip length give or take a few seconds, format, codec ect. If I try to interact with the import dialog box, as in the move, it says "not responding" but will finally complete the import.

There are a couple of new options... or of differences in the application of the old options... that can cause such things.

Most probably one is "Enable accelerated H.264 encoding"... which seems to slow almost everyone... found here and as shown, I suggest to disable (uncheck) this option:

  • Virtualized Windows extremely slow 2011SBS

    Hi all

We have a Windows Small Business Server 2011 put in place in a 5.0.0 - 469512 of VMWare ESXi

The hypervisor has 4 machines running, two Debian on, a windows XP and our production SBS2011 Windows

the other three machines have set the parameters of the resources as low as possible and they run OK (it's just a few dev machines)

The server has the following configuration:

    Dell PowerEdge R310

    Intel Xeon X 3470

    Assets of HT

PERC H200 (vmhba2) adapter with disks - a Raid 5 array (at this point I'm not sure weather is the active cache or not)

The Windows SBS is very very very insensitive, copying a file to a storage server is about 200 KB - 3000 kB/s (bytes, not of pieces), which is pretty darn low on a gbit network.

He has 4vCPU with 12 GB of RAM assigned (due to the Exchange, RAM is always a peak level), CPU seems low

    ESXTOP:

    GID VMNAME VDEVNAME NVDISK CMDS/sec READING/s WRITTEN/s MBREAD/s MBWRTN/s LAT/rd LAT/wr

I'm not sure if the pic in the screenshot

It's really weird. I've seen discussions here on the latency problem, but no solution. I try to check the caching on the PERC H200 (im 80% sure that it has activated).

Any ideas on this subject? I think that the machine should be relatively adapted with this configuration, but it is not

The other three machines have the rest of the resources (i.e. 4 hearts divided between them and 4 GB of RAM distributed as well)

According to this article from Dell http://content.dell.com/us/en/enterprise/d/campaigns/dell-raid-controllers, the H200 does not support the cache and does not support the backup battery. Most likely, the controller has 2 options: writing and rewriting mode. Cache internal hard drive and caching of Windows are disabled in the write-through, leading to the lowest performance mode. This is done to increase the safety of data in the case of a blue screen or a power failure. The other option, writeback mode will cache internal hard drive and improve performance, to increase the risk of loss of data/corruption when if the system does not stop correctly.

If you have good backups and is not a mission critical system you can consider changing the strategy of controller in write-back mode. Otherwise, you should consider getting a RAID controller that has hidden and backup block.

PS I think the controller for the caching policy setting is defined on the virtual disk in the controller configuration.

  • New Windows automatic update of August 10, 2011 is our extremely slow laptop. What should I do?

The day before I had defragment the hard drive and do a "Disk Cleanup" after many months.  Laptop was significantly faster.  Then, there was an automatic update of Windows and now the laptop is extremely slow.   Any suggestions as to what I should do next?  Thanks to you all!

    Hello

    ·         There were several updates installed?

    ·         Have you checked the problem in safe mode?

Check to see if the following is useful.

Method 1: Start the computer in safe mode and see if the problem persists. Report of the results.

Method 2: Log on to the computer manufacturer site and check if you have the latest drivers installed.

  • Windows Live Mail extremely slow

Read your own posts, but they offer no concrete solution.

Windows Live Mail is extremely slow on all actions, such as selection, type, transmission, reception, everything, to the point where it is impractical and unusable.

I have a brand new HP Elite, Windows Vista Home Premium x 64, to this day, virus scanned, etc.. All programs work well, including Windows Mail. But Windows Live Mail service is really too slow to be of any use.

Is there a real fix to the extremely slow problem Windows Live Mail? The plethora of forums and posts on this specific topic, it seems that we, potential users are out of luck. Please advice and correct.

  • Windows 7 is extremely slow to return to the screen saver mode.

I installed upgrading Windows 7 on my computer and everything is fine.  However, when the system is idle and past in mode screensaver (with or without a password), the return of the screen saver mode are extremely slow (just a white screen).  It is sometimes quick, sometimes it comes back in 3-4 minutes, but most of the time it takes a long time.

The system is a low end, but more than enough to manage w7.  It consist of:
    Pentium dual core (2140)
    2 gig memory
    NVIDIA 7300GT 256M

I tried to delete the zone alarm security suite, does not solve the problem
thought it was the HP 2610 print software, removed and still happens.
    update the bios (MSI p4m900)

can someone figure this.  Is there something that prevents him to return to the desktop.

Note that, I try to reboot from the blank screen by pressing the windows, right arrow, return.  But I think also, it does not address key strokes.

    THX

I found a way to fix it! I did this:

    1. Press win + r and run msconfig. Go to tools and brand to troubleshoot the computer, and then click Start.

    2. then go to system and security and press electricityballance (not sure of the name in English because I have a Norwegian version..).

    3. restart your computer.

    4. my screen saver was not afterwards, but I gave it to display photos and now it works perfectly!

When I checked the general tab afterwards, it did not have the checkbox to use the... start (a last..) one has been verified and the second has a blue full mark.

  • Extremely slow after the recent updates.

    Nice day!

After a recent update, my computer starts extremely slow for example, a file transfer time to initialize very low speed. No hardware changes have been made, and everything was in tact. The CPU usage is very low, but the computer does not respond, what the hell. Initially the system would be stuck on windows startup, but I waited until what he actually started upward because it usually takes less than 2 minutes to start. I tried system restore to restore to before the updates were installed and it worked! I wanted to just know how can I find out what update caused the problem or do I stop updating?

Install all a test for signs of the back problem, you go. When you have identified the problem update and then use the correct way to remove the update or select Start, Control Panel, programs and features, see installed updates and follow the instructions under uninstall an update.

  • Sharing network of Windows 7 64-bit problem: other machines may very well write, but the readings are extremely slow.

I tried to access to the shared both directory a Vista and XP machine via cable connections and wireless to my Win 7 64 bit machine on the part and it is extremely slow to read, but not written.  Not only the directory never takes show all thumbnails, and then open a file that is a couple mb in size as a photo takes more than a minute.  However, if I try to write the same file sharing, it takes only 5 seconds.  This fine all worked until I went from the version release candidate for the final version a few weeks ago.  Shared directories exist on another partition for the relocation does not have their effect.

Maybe it helps diagnose the problem... I just make a copy of a picture of 4 MB on the part of win 7 on my win xp desktop and it took about 1 minute.  I renamed the file on my desktop and tried to write to the share and it took 5 seconds .  Now, it's strange.  So, this is the bed that would take forever.  The Scriptures are fine, which also explains why my nightly backups on the part of win7 are very good.

I have a machine to hit the share by using the name of the computer and the other using the ip address.  Both show the same problem...

I also tried to access files using a mapped network drive.

I can take a 4 MB file and just copy it on my local desktop and it takes about a full minute.  However, written the same file or even another file of the same size as the part only takes about 5 seconds.

I ran the Windows 7 network troublshooter last night and used the troubleshooter for incoming connections and he says that it found a problem but that he could not fix and he really had nothing to help me.  But I think he sent the information in Microsoft... not sure.  Next time, I'm at home, I'll run again and try to put all the gross results that I could not understand in this thread.

I've also updated my driver for the network card and redone permissions and actions several times.  The only thing that I can also say that something can highlight, it is that when I was using the RC of windows 7, I don't have this problem at all.  It was my first installation of Windows 7.  I reinstalled from the final version and all of these files already exist on another partition on the same drive.  I just had to move my public and directories user space on the D: partition and share everything.  Maybe the new facility with something on the existing structures of the file works well with the new facility of the former?  But this does not explain why a new directory and file that create displays the same behavior.  I'm thinking out loud a bit to see if it helps that anyone think that anything...

    I thought about it!

At least for me, it was a setting in the Advanced tab of the network adapter.  I have a Realtek Gigabit network card and one of the places must have been missed incorrectly.

I changed the 2 following settings to "disabled", and he immediately started working very well.

    Disabled IPv4 Checksum Offload
People with disabilities large send Offload (IPv4)

I have a suspicion that among recent updates of Microsoft for this driver he missed bad... but it was this or the latest driver from Realtek.

    Update:

In other research I have narrowed it down to make it just the Large Send Offload value.  Is located on "activated" whenever I update the driver Realtek to the latest version.  If I then go and set it to "Disabled", everything works fine.
