To try to solve the problem that I discovered in the Audio tab in sounds and Audio devices properties, there is No default unit in the area of audio playback and No default unit in the peripheral zone of MIDI playback.  In addition, the general tab in the properties of the device Audio USB says "this device is working properly" and that it is enabled as described in the use of the device box. Hello

The usual cause of the error C00D11BA is when the sound card drivers are not installed or outdated.

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with the audio device, such as a map his or her controller.

I HAVE A NEW DELL WITH VISTA HOME PREMEUM SP2 LAPTOP. THEN TRY TO OPEN AN E-MAIL WITH AN ATTACHMENT VIDIO, I GET A WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER ERROR COOD1199. WHAT SHOULD I DO ABOUT IT?

    Hi marcs251,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

To help you better with this problem I would like to answer a few questions.

    (a) what is the format of the file you are trying to play?

    (b) you are able to play the files on your hard drive?

In the meantime, you can try the methods below to see if the problem is resolved.

     Method 1:

Make sure that the file type of the file that you are trying to play is supported by Windows Media Player.  If this isn't the case, you can do a search using your favorite internet search

provider to find a player who is able to read the file.

The link below explains the types of files (formats) supported by Windows Media Player.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/9series/playererrors.aspx#c00d1199_0x00000000

    Method 2:
You may also check if Windows media player support for the codec used to compress the file and you may need to install the right codecs to play the file.

Please visit the link below to find out how to obtain, install, or update a codec:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/FAQ/codec.mspx#q14_3

You can also check out the link below which gives information about the codec:

I removed the WM Center and WM Player, rebooted, reinstalled WMC and WMP and restarted.  This time, when I tried to play a song that I got a very strange message that was clearly not of Microsoft origin "trial expired, buy now or enter your serial number" in a window had.
