Windows Media Player is missing

Original title: Windows Media Player

Just recently (a few days ago) my Windows Media Player disappeared.  SEARCH does not find it... I don't remember any real change (deletion or install things) that could have changed it so what do I do now?

Thanks to all THE answers... I have discovered when he disappeared and found that I had NOT gone far enough in restoring the system.  I have it...

  • Windows Media Player is missing in Set Program Access and Computer Defaults

I recently discovered that when I wanted to install a default media player, Windows Media Player was absent from "Default programs". When I ran a search on this problem, I had the suggestion that I enable access to Windows Media Player with "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults." However, when I tried this, I found that Windows Media Player was also absent from "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults"! Now, what I want to know is, how to restore Windows Media Player in the list of Set Program Access and Computer Defaults?

Here's a hint: I do not have full access to Windows Media Player via the start menu.

I downloaded and installed KB968211 and still no media player.  Where can I get the download to install the Windows Media Player?

    Hello

    1. you have service pack 1 installed update?

    2. have you tried to install the update with run as administrator?

    Method 1.

Verify that the copy of Windows is genuine, here: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/ValidationResult.aspx?displaylang=en&PageName=validate

Once validation is complete, restart the computer and try to install the update once more.

    Method 2.

If service pack 1 is not installed, you must install service pack 1, and then try to install this update.

Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/install-windows-7-service-pack-1

  • missing windows media player error code 0x80004005 and 0x8007047F

My windows media player is missing and my system is not let me reinstall it (error code 0x80004005 and 0x8007047F) how can I solve this problem? Thank you!

    Hi Trish,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forum!

Based on the information you gave it seems you found the error code 0x80004005 and 0x8007047F during the installation of Windows Media player.

If you have windows 7 installed, it is not possible to uninstall Windows Media Player 12. Windows Media Player 12 comes preinstalled with the operating system. You can not downgrade to Windows Media Player 11 in Windows 7.

I suggest you to follow the link and check if it is enabled or disabled, and then restart the computer to start windows media player 12.

  • Windows Media Player does not display of MicroSD songs album art

Summer love the Surface Pro offer functions since I got the 9 February, but lately, I've been a few software/hardware problems here and there. One of these issues is with Windows 8 itself. Go to a 500 GB SSHD in my old laptop with a 128 GB SSD in the Surface Pro forced me to move no delicate libraries or all the files on a 64 GB MicroSD card; No delicate part of these things is my music/iTunes library.

After that, I then open Windows Media Player and noticed that it lacked all the artworks of my music organized itunes album in library view. Thinking it was just Windows Media Player still missing support for .m4a files (even if the file Explorer supports them clearly), I tried to add the album art, and it made no difference. Then it crossed my mind that maybe its Windows Media Player that does not support display cover from a disk full out of the primary. So I have moved the library to its default location, open Windows Media Player and it shows ALL of my music organized itunes album artwork.
Move back to the new MicroSD is back to square 1; Windows Media Player is not display Album art. All geek/hacker knows a fix for this? I am confident in the modification of ANY part of the file system on my computer, including the registry. Thanks in advance.

This looks like a problem of indexing. Windows just indexes not removable media by default particularly well. http://digitalmediaphile.com/index.php/2012/11/02/how-to-use-Windows-8-RT-apps-libraries-and-removable-media/ might help.

  • Missing Windows Media Player plug-in

When I am trying to play web videos on my nsx40gt1 get the error message "Missing Windows Media Player plugin" on many sites... Is it possible on the browser chrome on my sony internet tv to run this plugin?

Welcome to the Sony sponsored the Forums of Discussion user:
    Thank you for posting!

Web videos Windows Media Player require additional plugin software that adds specific functionality to enable items to use. Additional plug-in software requires more memory. However, the internal memory of the device of Internet TV is designed only to be used to store data of the pre-installed applications. For this reason, Windows Media Player can not play.

Currently, it is not possible to install plug-ins in the system.

  • WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER... Missing codecs

My windows media player use to play DVD & VCD but now missing the codec so can't watch these now. Download the codecs but them uninstalled as apparently do IE, Media Player etc unstable. Is anyone able to help with this please... Thanks :)

    Hello

Thanks for posting in this forum. I understand that DVD is not playing in Windows media player, installed some codecs but these codecs were Internet Explorer unstable. Let us know if it's the misunderstanding of the question.

A codec is a software to compress or decompress a digital media file, such as a song or a video. Windows Media Player and other programs use codecs to play and create digital media files.

A codec can consist of two components: an encoder and a decoder. The encoder performs the compression function (coding) and the decoder performs the decompression function (decoding). Some codecs include both components and some codecs only one of them.

For example, when you rip a song from an audio CD on your computer, the player uses the default Windows Media Audio codec to compress the song into a compact WMA file. When you play that WMA file (or any WMA file that may be broadcast from a Web site), the player uses the codec Windows Media Audio to decompress the file for music can be played through your speakers.

  • Windows Media Player 11 under WinXP missing labels

Windows Media Player 11 under WinXP SP3 appears as the old WMP 10 with the classic menus.

I uninstalled and reinstalled WMP11.  The current version is 11.0.5721.5280.

    I wish I could attach a screenshot.

All that shows is the elements of 'classic' menu file/View/Play/Toos/help.

The large black tabs for <- -="">Now Playing | RIP | Library | Burn | Sync | Media Guide are missing.

Enter ctrl-M to the classic menus doesn't change anything.

By clicking on the small icon to go to the 'full' mode does nothing.

How WMP to display the user interface of new type.  I have another computer running WinXP SP3 with WMP11 which works as expected, and I can't seem to find out what is different.

WMP11 is like it is stuck in some form of compact mode with the old style user interface.

    Thanks for your help.
