  • Update of Windows 8 caused computer lose Viewer Windows Photo and others.

Today, Windows 8 installed about 27 updates.  Then I noticed that I couldn't open the .jpg files.  After some research, I found that I could open them with Office Picture Manager and program of Metro Photo.  But I can not print these .jpg by right-clicking on files in file Explorer and choose print.  However, I can print through their opening in Office Picture Manager and go to the file - print.  I really don't want to spend the time necessary to reinstall the printer drivers and who knows what else I need to reinstall because of these updates.  I noticed that the system restore program tells me that many programs is deleted if I choose the system restore to before the update.  Scary, right.  I did this kind of stuff on computers for many years, and I know that if I bomb, there is a lot of hours to spend trying to get back to this.  Anyone have any suggestions of quick fix?

    Adeline B,.

Thank you for your prompt response and try to help me solve the problem.  However, I worked on that until I realized that I had installed the wrong display driver.  I had remembered that we had the latest updates for Windows 8 to do with a new display driver.  So, I checked the web site for the ATI Radeon HD video driver I have and found that AMD has a new driver for this computer and the map.  I downloaded and installed, and many problems such as the one that eliminated the on my computer Windows Photo Viewer were immediately resolved.  So, in my humble view, somehow thought Windows I should change my video driver to whom they have downloaded on my computer in the recent update, but this driver was not correct for my setup.  Do not complain about the updates, but it seems to me that the problem.  In any case, thank you, and this problem is solved.

  • How can I change the default location on Windows Photo and Scanner Wizard for registration?

I have a machine that would save photos from an SD card in a folder the same name as the group by the name of photos. That is to say: I want to save a group of images as "Puppyxx", where "xx" is a sequential number appended to the file in the wizard. In the past, the wizard would create a folder called "Puppy" and put all the photos with the same group name in the folder of the puppy. Now, it is dumping all the photos at the root of the "My pictures" folder I'll have to go and manually move the images. We had a problem week last with server space and had to change the wizard to download the pictures on the C:\ drive rather than on the document server. How do I go about changing the default behavior of the registration wizard so that all I have to do is provide a group name, and the wizard name files properly and place them in the appropriate folder?

    Hello Geekgirl34,

In the wizard, you can specify a folder, rename batch of images, etc.  I do believe however, that the wizard will automatically make a new folder.  You should see "options" or "advanced options", when importing photos.  You can create your new folder and change the name of the worksheet.

    See you soon

    ===========================================
It is possible that data owners library.
    base is corrupted.

Uninstalling and reinstalling PG does not update the database...
It must be manually renamed or deleted.

If you rename the file... it will force the photo gallery to create a
new database file the next time, it is launched and the Gallery
must be as it was the first time, it was launched and the
    Gallery should be re-populated.

I'm not positive that this will solve the problem you are dealing with
with, but if you want to try the file name is...
Pictures.PD6. If you have the latest version of Photo
Gallery... the file may be named Pictures.PD7... I'm not
some... but the steps would be the same.

Just rename it to OLDPictures.pd6. This can cause you to
lose tags and metadata that are not rewritten on
    the photo files.

The path to the file (in Windows 7) is:

    Windows\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\
    Windows Live Photo Gallery\Pictures.pd6

(Sorry, but I'm not sure of the path in WIndows 8 but if you)
do a search for PD6 PD7, you should be able to find it.

Pictures.PD6 is a file... the following article explains
    How to show hidden files:

Windows 7 - show hidden files
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/show-hidden-files

If this does not improve the problem... you can delete the
new file Pictures.pd6 and rename OLDPictures.p6 back to
Pictures.PD6 and the gallery should be as it was before.

If the result is not satisfactory... you can delete the new PD6
folder and rename it back to an old Pictures.PD6 and the
Gallery should be as it was before the change.
