Windows Update guard same installation updates on update install Win7

Hello

I've recently updated my Windows Vista to Windows 7 RC running on my DELL XPS M1530 laptop. My current version of McAfee would not work if I installed the free beta version of Panda Antivirus on it.

The problem with my laptop is that whenever I stop, I get a message of 28 updates being installed - and it happens every time I stop. Is it possible that the updates are not able to install? If so, how can I fix it.

See you soon
Noémie

If you click on start "Orb" you should see "Windows Update". Click on it, and when the window opens, there should be a list of the available updates...

Click the line that says "important xx updates available" and watch to see who is available.

In my own experience, up-to-date as partain your (driver chipset, driver video and sound card drivers) may already be later. If you you can "uncheck and continue with other updates.

  • Windows Update to Win7 install and hangs right on 12 of 18.

The title pretty much sums up it. I downloaded 18 updates and he went then to the installation of these updates. He was going well until he got to number 12 of 18: "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows 7 for x 64 systems. It was 'installation' this one's for about 3 days now, no progress. I tried to stop the installation in the hope to I restarted the installation later than that would work. But when I hit 'Stop the Installation', nothing happens. It does not stop. It simply moves the window to my taskbar. So it is not install and I can't stop it. What should I do?

I use Win 7 Home Premium, 64-bit. I don't know what service pack is charged, if any, but updates are also up-to-date so if there was a service pack, it is probably already installed. I use Kaspersky Anti-virus, all that to date, no other AVs never loaded on this machine.

    Hi KristinMM,

    Method 1:

Check the history windows update to find the error code for updates failed. Make a right-click on the update failed, and then click view

    To do this:

    a. click on start
    b. type of line Windows Update search
    c. click on Windows Update
    d. Select view update history

    Method 2:

To run the Windows Update Troubleshooter

Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Update-Troubleshooter

    Method 3:

I suggest you to install the updates one by one on your computer manually and check if the problem reappears.

Download and save the Setup on your desktop package and try to install the same one by one and check what update is causing the problem.

To do this, you must enter the number of the Windows Update in the search field in the link provided below.

    Link Download Center

    Method 4:

You can also use Event Viewer to search for information on the problem.

  • keep Windows update install 'kb2518864' / 'kb2572073' / 'kb2633880' repeatedly

Original title: windows update keep installation kb2518864/kb2572073/kb2633880 since this morning

The event viewer displays messages that says that each is installed successfully, but they do not appear in the list of "Add or update the program" in the control panel and immediately after it tries to install the 3 again and again. (each of them seeks to update .net framework 2.0sp2 or 3.5sp1)

BTW, I'm under XP Pro SP3 with all latest updates.

It seems that MS has solved the problem, all of a sudden the yellow reminder icon disappeared at the bottom of the screen. A number of people has the same reporded at the end of this thread.

    1450 EDT

It seems to have been corrected here too well, even without emptying the memory cache update.  Just all of a sudden the icon "updated pending" went.

  • Windows updates installed and now I can not start vista normally

Hello, I have a problem starting my OS after windows updates to install. I have a laptop Dell Studio 1737 running Windows Vista SP1 x 64

I installed the windows updates and they are normally installed on the closed part (steps 1 and 2 of 3) but the computer restarted once he ran Microsoft Corporation with the Green loading bar animation. He hung there for quite a long time as usual but I thought it had to do with updates. so after that the animation, the screen off, turned back on and it was completely black. a mouse jumped out for about 10 seconds, then disappeared. I noticed that the hard drive light stopped flashing and there is no other activity after that. CTRL-Alt-Del does nothing. So I had to hold the power button and restart. This time I used Safe Mode to let it boot. He traveled the drivers being loaded and hung up "pilot charge: \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys ', but eventually started. After starting, it linked the part "Configuring updates step 3 of 3" 0% to 100% and then just stood there and the mouse began to blink. Yet once, there was very little hard drive being indicated by light activity. After 5 minutes, it was clear, he was not any progress made by letting it continue. Yet once, forced another shut down.

I repeated the process with the same results from the point to let start normally to force stop and meet at configuring updates step 3 of 3 to 100% but frozen in safe mode. I was perplexed what to do because I could not access the computer at all even in SafeMode! I forced the closing down and grown up recovery tools and tried to startup repair. has nothing. I tried the system restore. It is interesting that told me I had NO restore points and yet I had just installed one small not updated but there is 30 minutes. Also, I can't imagine there is no restore point after having owned this laptop for almost 4 years. I took to my faithful Tablet for some Google-ing in depth on this particular issue in the hope of finding a solution. Well, I came across an article that leaves me at least cancel the thing trying to get up-to-date and freezing. It required that use you recovery command prompt and delete the C:\Windows\winsxs\pending,xml file. After the reboot (in safe mode) Finally I could connect and access my files save them! Finally! only it isn't the end of the problem. I still cannot start normally. to do this, the above-mentioned actions of when I try to boot normally.
I tried so much google - lies about different things, it might be and who either do not resolve problem or steps they indicate to tell me to change a registry entry to something which in my machine is already what they say before it takes. Also, I can't uninstall updates because the windows update program does not open in safe mode. I have run chkdsk and nothing. I stopped everything to boot at startup, with the exception of microsoft. I uninstalled any program that can run at startup. I ran an anti-virus (Avast & Norton separately) and lift you own. I have a ntbtlog.txt I can post if necessary. honestly, I don't know where to turn at this point, except for here. If no luck here ill get my backup files, take my computer to a local store and have them diagnose or if worse comes to the worst case, a clean format and reinstall that is not presented.
Thank you for any advise on this issue, as I don't know what to do next.

What I did I tried to disable the network, modem and audio drivers. It took time, but start normally thereafter, but he made a strange (and continuous) boot process he never has ever done before. Once in normal mode, I started to allow the drivers one by one and it turned out to be one for the audio driver to date. During this audio driver was activated it will disable all entries as the trackpad, keyboard, USB and particularly hard drive! so it would freeze almost instantly after activation there and closes one forced would be necessary. Device Manager Microsoft told me this audio driver was updated, but it wasn't. The company that provided the audio drivers had changed the names through the merger or buyout, or something and the new audio drivers were under the new name. A very strange situation.

I had to search around and eventually find the latest drivers for my system setup and audio on dell's website, and it said it was a "Recommended" update This update of the driver should be mandatory if you want to continue using your computer! It is one of the most used audio dell service providers! Why he would only recommend?
In any case, thank you Jeremy for your time and help!
  • Windows Update in Win7 stuck halfway on the upgrade Win10 & consumes CPU

Windows Update has been the consumption of 50% of my CPU stable for the past months. He started right around when upgrading Windows 10 has been downloaded on my computer, but I had not yet installed (download was unintentional). I thought it would end when I've finally updated for Windows 10 a few weeks ago, but to make a long story short, 10 Windows eventually cause an infinite restart loop and I had to enter in the boot menu and go back to Windows 7.

Now back in Windows 7, 50% of my CPU is again consumed on a daily basis. Windows Update function tells me "your upgrade to Windows 10 is ready" and asks me to restart, but restarting does nothing. I can't check the updates either, because "a previous installation must be carried out."

Is it possible to interrupt the Windows 10 half-installed upgrading? Hard for me to imagine it is nothing else, but open to ideas. My only solution was to stop the service, WU, who immediately soothes my CPU, but it restarts after a few hours and I want not updated of future security, so it is not desirable or sustainable.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The big question is Win10 or any part of his installation actually start?

If the restoration does not correct the problem, you may face a complete reinstallation of Windows 7.

    Try these things.

    Click on the starting planet

    type in there services

    Click on Services

find Windows Update in the list

Right-click on it and select stop

    Second thing:

Download and install the GWXControl Panel.

  • Windows Update stuck Win7 64 bit

Research of the Internet and the knowledge base, it is clear that it is a very common problem, but still none of the solutions worked for me.

It is a new installation of Windows 7 64-bit, as well as the drivers for the PC that came on its supplied driver CDROM.

Windows Update 'Control upgrade' is "checking for updates... "with the progress bar cheerfully do his thing. And there it remains. Let all night and still no change, just loads of CPU devoured initially by TrustedInstaller, then by a svchost process.

Closing Windows Update leaves the svchost still running at full blast - need to kill the process.

    Tried all sorts of things:

    Disable the firewall.

    Travel.

In the IE options, add domains Windows Update to the Trusted Sites zone.

Reregister the DLLs for Windows Update (actually instructions to do what Microsoft message turned out be specifically for 32 bit - half of them do not save on 64-bit using the provided controls).

    Run Fix - it.

Run the Windows Update troubleshooting tool.

The last was disconcerting because its results were not exactly consistent with everything first in every race, but finally, he moved to an error 0 x 80070005 (access) refused. Yes, I am the administrator.

Using procmon on the loop of the svchost process did not reveal a lot - seems to spend most of his time reading HKCU with every 5th reading fault as follows:

08:22:55.0768690 svchost.exe 3356 RegOpenKey HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\WindowsUpdate DO NAME NOT FOUND desired access: query value

and every so often thrown in for good measure the following:

08:22:51.9656215 svchost.exe 3356 RegOpenKey HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WBEM\CIMOM\RepositoryRestoreInProgress DO NAME NOT FOUND desired access: read

Happy to create a core dump of any process anyone deems useful (although could do with a refresher - does years I used Dr. Watson or any of the other Win32 debugging tools).

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Error 80072EFE when you run Windows Update on Win7 so wireless

You try to run Windows update on a new laptop from Toshiba with Windows 7 installed and a good wireless connection to a router I get error 80072EFE rather than a list of updates. If I connect directly to the router the updated list comes through fine. I can then unplug the router and download updates more wireless.

Initially I was running tried to reinstall as 32-bit, 64-bit Win7, but made no difference. Tried to update after I just installed Win7 before Norton and other applications on. Contacted Belkin and they gave me a checklist of the router to do, but not better. Someone at - it ideas? The problem is reproducible even with Norton and other installed applications. If you connect the router updates Windows detects the updates to install. If you work with wireless it gets error 80072EFE.

    Phil

If I connect directly to the router the updated list comes through fine.

Until you get your wireless connection problems straightened, run your manually check updates when you are connected to the router.

  • SIRIUS Internet Radio Media Player not working not properly because Windows update installed on my PC

My Sirius internet Player multimedia radio is not working properly because Windows updates are installed on my pc. updates KB971486 KB974455 KB974571 KB975467 KB975517 KB974155 KB976525 KB974470.  Tested internet radio/media player for sirius on another computer and there is no problem.  Have tried all of the fixes recommended by sirius... This update of windows seems to the source of the problem.

Does anyone have an idea with security update could be the cause of the problem?  Should I uninstall this?  If I find one that is causing the problem, how can I block it to move again?

    Thank you

    Hi Smwall,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    Method 1:

    3. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)

    4. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all

Note: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use with existing restore points system restore utility

For more information about the clean boot, follow the below given link:

  • Windows Search via Windows Update install fails on Windows XP

Hello, I am running Windows XP, and Windows Update offers me "Windows Search 4.0" as a component optional.  (Maybe Microsoft would consider to delete 'Windows' in the names of several components...)  When I try to install this, it fails, with no useful error message.  (All error code 0 x 643.)  Joining many have also failed.  The Fixit program couldn't get what it is.  Where should I go from here?  (I hope you can read this: I'm typing in a form field size of mailbox unresizeable here...)
