Windows Update and now when I try to open Lightroom it gives me a message that says "Lightroom has encountered an error when reading it is an overview of the cache and will try again during the reboot" reboot is not good at all.
The problem you are experiencing is not related to an update of Windows. The preview cache is corrupt. You must use Windows Explorer or the Finder to open the folder that contains your catalog. Find the folder that has the extension .lrdata and delete the entire folder. Then, launch Lightroom as you normally would. Lightroom will be in the construction of a new Preview file and you should be able to continue normally.
I don't know the reason, but a lot of people have experienced this same problem. Take a look at the more "like this" list to the right of this message. It is more common than you might expect.

Janhsmn,
If you do not want to install updates on your computer, you can select the "Hide" option and it will ignore them in the future and continue with other updates. Do not forget that the reason why the updates could be the cause of this problem would be because as a conflict with a third-party software. And most likely will not affect both your systems in the same way unless you have the same third party software installed on all your machines.
To hide the update in Windows Vista, please follow the steps below.
1. click on 'start '.
2. Type "Windows Update" and press on "Enter"(on the keyboard) ".
3. Select "Search for updates"
4. Select "View available updates"
5 right-click the update that is causing the problem and select "hide update"Please let us know if you need more help.

Hello
Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 answers Forum!
Here you need to start your computer in safe mode and do a system restore.
Start the computer in safe mode and check the number.
Follow this link provided below to start your computer in safe mode.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode
You have to try to perform a system restore to go back to the work settings, to do that follow the instructions below:
1) click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
(2) in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
(3) in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
4) click Finish.
If you still have the problem then we will try to reset the windows update components and find the number.
You must follow the link provided below to run the fixit which will automatically fix the problem if you find problems with the fixit, then you can follow the procedure to manually reset Windows component update.

If any of the files that begin with tmp exist in this folder, do not remove any other files. Files .cat in this folder are necessary for installing hotfixes and service packs.
Important: Do not rename the folder C:\windows\system32\catroot. The Catroot2 folder is automatically recreated by Windows, but the C:\windows\system32\catroot folder is not recreated if is renamed the folder C:\windows\system32\catroot.

After auto update installed, Windows Vista does not start
Individuals:
Windows Vista Home Premium w/Service Pack 1 installed
Dell Studio 1737, 64-bitProblem:
Earlier this week (I think it's the 16th), my computer has installed an automatic Windows Update and restarted. When she came back to the top, it says Windows could not start and asked if I would so he can try to restore the operating system to a previous point in time or if I try to restart Windows. I tried to start Windows again (this time with my fingers crossed), but got the same message. So I went for the #1 option and after half an hour, or so, I got a new error. To be honest with you, I have seen so many mistakes in the last week, I don't remember exactly what he said, but I wanted to go to the advanced options, where I could choose a restore point manually. I have put back to point restoration 6/15 and had no problem getting Windows to start. Unfortunately... Windows REALLY asks me to install this update so at 03:00, after spending at least an hour and a half on the issue, he did an update automatic, rebooted and Windows wouldn't start again. So, again, I am through the whole process (it's the only way I found to manually choose a restore point) and me to start Windows. Then I disabled the automatic update in the hope that I could skip this update. However... Windows has put the updates to install every time I put it in mode 'sleep'. You can see where I'm going with this. Now, any time my computer stops for some reason, Windows refuses to restart. To make matters worse, the last time I had to go through this process, for some reason any he would not support up to 15 and I had to try again and it backwards until the 13th. Please help me!You did little to restore the system.
Hide this particular update, if you do not need!
Remove the Vista updates; two ways to do this:
1. a System Restore to before the updates:
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next
If it is impossible to enter the Normal Mode, do a Safe Mode system restore:
Press F8 at the startup/power and the list of startup options, use THE ARROW key to select Safe mode > and then press ENTER.
System restore steps according to the info above.
Also:
2. click on start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window
> then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.
In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it
> Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".
When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the bad.
> or if you do not need an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it
