Windows utility to update Windows 7

My laptop Win 7 Home Premium is configured to check for updates but let me decide... Windows checks the updates and the list of people, but the updates will not download, regardless of how many hours I leave. The color of progress just keeps moving through the bar and State always reads 0 to 0 KB. I tried to use the update utility with no luck. The result is a perpetual 'updates online check.' What is my next step. I note that my husband loaded inadvertently 10 Windows on this machine there is some time. I rolled it back to Windows 7 about a half hour later after realizing that lone had disappeared.

Hello

After looking at the appropriate file you downloaded, it says this:

    "Prerequisites .
-Microsoft .NET 2.0 is required. UEFI and Custom Imaging - the HP BIOS update must be run from a FAT or FAT32, partition with a volume of the "HP_TOOLS" name This Installer gives you the option to install on the hard disk (HDD) or USB. If you install on the HARD disk and the HP_TOOLS partition is not present, Setup prompts to create the HP_TOOLS partition. If you install on a USB key, Setup renames the partition on the USB in HP_TOOLS. If you use a custom image, you can create the HP_TOOLS partition manually with the type FAT32 and that the volume HP_TOOLS name. ATTENTION:-the UEFI system partition is not protected and can be removed. -Backup of the computer by using the complete PC Backup feature of Microsoft Windows Vista does not save the UEFI system partition. For these reasons, HP recommends that you place no additional data on the UEFI system partition. Because the partition is not backed up, corruption or failure of the partition will result in the loss of all data on the partition, as well as the loss of UEFI functionality. "For more information, visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup"

There is little documentation on how to use it, but a Member here figured it out.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/operating-systems-and-software/envy-14-system-recovery-doesn-t-work-with-latest-BIOS/m-p/328684/highlight/false#M45165

    using Windows 7:
Just plug in the USB key and then run the SPnnnnn.exe BIOS file downloaded from the Web site drivers HP.
Assuming that the USB is configured correctly (see below), Setup the BIOS sees the HP_TOOLS partition on the USB, copy of the BIOS and its file signature on the USB key, then run Setup winflash. The system BIOS detects the USB and the partition HP_TOOLS and the BIOS is magically updated.
I put in place a new USB key as follows:
1 rename the partition HP_TOOLS from the hard drive to something different like HP_TOOLSbak
    2. Plug the USB
    3. Download and run the utility to update the BIOS (not the BIOS, still) drivers HP support page.
    4. Select the option to install to a USB
    5. Select the option to create the partition HP_TOOLS
    6. The reader should now be formatted as HP_TOOLS with a record of Hewlett-Packard containing BIOS and BIOSUpdate records. The BIOS folder contains empty current, news and previous records.
7 download and run the HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) MS drivers HP support page
    8. Select the option to install on a USB key. This will create a SystemDiags folder under the Hewlett-Packard folder
    9. Download and run the HP Notebook System BIOS update for the HP support page drivers, given that the USB is correctly tagged it will install the update of the bios on the USB drive
10, we have to end up with a HP_TOOLS partition on the USB drive identical to the one that you removed from the hard drive.
Once you have configured the USB drive, you can upgrade to other versions of BIOS (most recent or oldest) using this drive, as I mentioned above: just plug in the USB and then download and run the BIOS Setup program.

Having said that I'm not sure of what you do, once you boot the USB drive.

  • Adding RAM on S6300NX, keeps restarting. Windows XP SP3 Upgrade Utility driver update fails

I have a Compaq Presario S6300NX works on XP Home and has the AMD Athlon XP processor.  The vehicle currently has a 512 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM Memory Module installed.  I bought a 512 MB 333 MHZ DDR PC2700 184 pin Dimm 2.5V module install alongside the original.  I did my best to check that it is compatible through the HP site but it was purchased by an outside vendor.

The new module fits perfectly into its housing.  However when I turn the computer back on, it will just through this continuous reboot.  He could do it on the desk, but within seconds, it restarts.  Once, I got a message saying 'ended unexpectedly DCOM Server process Launcher service '.  I took the new module back out and rebooted - the computer then worked fine.  He told me that the system has recovered from a fatal (x 4) error.  But work just fine without the memory upgrade module.  Tried to reinstall, maybe user error (?), but once again, the system went into a continuous reboot cycle.

I googled the message an error I copied (on the DCOM model) and found here in the support area and HP drivers, there was an updated driver that I could do that specifically mentioned my error message "Microsoft Windows® XP SP3 upgrade utility for systems equipped with AMD processors.  I followed the instructions and downloaded the file to my desktop.  I then tried to launch the installation of many times each time to get the same error message after extraction of the files and the yes button to install.  "Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update.  The update was cancelled (9998)"

These are the prereqs in the instructions: "you must be logged in as an administrator to install this update.

I went to Best Buy and bought a new module of memory.  Accompanies the PNY optima.  Worked perfectly.  After all that.  So I guess that it was probably a bad memory stick.  Thanks to all who helped!  Problem solved!

  • Windows security included when you run the Windows backup utility are updates?

ORIGINAL TITLE: the files of backup window

If someone could help me with this question are windows security update included when I do a monthly backup of windows?
my computer uses of Windows Vista Home Basic.

    Hello

N ° as you have Vista Home Basic, you are just to save your own personal files (photos, music, documents, etc.), do not make a backup of the computer that would include updates, as the backup of the computer is an image of the operating system installed on the specified Date, it's done.

To save all (backup of the computer), you should have Vista Business, Ultimate or enterprise.

Here's a Guide on how you use Vista data backup:

  • Is Toshiba supports a utility to update the BIOS like DCCU?

    Hi all

Another laptop to the manufacturer use a utility called the Configuration utility (DCCU) Client that can be used to update the BIOS for several models of laptops in the series.

I searched on the web and these forums, but I can't find a similar tool for Toshiba laptops.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

    Thank you

    Hello

You should not compare the procedure of updating the BIOS from different manufacturers with the process of updating the BIOS Toshiba laptop.
Laptop Toshiba computers come with special versions of BIOS (Toshiba & Phoenix) and on the update of the procedure is also different!

If you want to update the BIOS of Toshiba laptop, you will need to first check if a new BIOS is available and you should check the statement and the update process.
If I m not mistaken not updated the BIOS most on the most recent series portable Tosh must be done of Windows operating system.

If an update BIOS utility like DCCU is unavailable for Toshiba laptops!

  • Utility to update host without an Internet connection

    Hi all

I want to update / patch an ESXi 4.0 machine. However, a virtual machine there is the firewall, so when I put the host in maintenance mode, the Internet connection goes. It seems that the host update utility preload the patches themselves, so patching of course fails due to the inaccessibility of the VMWare deposits.

There it's a decent way around this, i.e. can I preload the patches somehow?

    See you soon

Sorry for that. It seems that VMware has recently changed the index.xml file and added "main/esx /" to the , which caused the error because the obliques. To fix this, simply insert the following line of (in bold) in the cmd file in step 1, which converts slashes to backslashes.

Through the host update utility Vshpere I tried to update one of my ESXi hosts (4.0.0 181792) with the latest patches.

I scan the host for the patches with the patch utility and hosts just constantly lies in the "scanning" through the utilitty and not going anywhere ever (I know there are spots available).

I rebooted the host repeatedly tried and out of maintenance etc mode, no dice.

    Also tried to force the update by downloading the hotfix in zip format files of https://www.VMware.com/mySupport/s3portal.Portal?_nfpb=true & _windowLabel = SearchPatch & SearchPatch_actionOverride = % 2Fportlets % 2Fpatchupdate % 2FfindPatch & _pageLabel = s3portal_pages_downloadPatch_page and then

  • W520 Bios Update Utility 10 64-bit Windows

    Friends

Earlier, I had a Thinkpad W520. Looks like a powerful machine. He already started level Win 10 Pro 64 bit.

Now I tried to update the BIOS on this issue but don't know how to proceed. The current BIOS is:

    BIOS
    LENOVO brand
    Version 8BET55WW (1.35)
    Day 06/12/2011

So, it is already 5 years old. I tried to find utility to update BIOS for 64 bit Win 10 on the Lenovo support site, but not been able to find one for this model. I find one for 64-bit Windows 8, but not to win 10.

Can I use the Win 8 BIOS update utility to update my W520 at 1.42 BIOS? Or what are my options?

    Thank you

On machines like yours that were ever sold with pre-installed win10, I suggest burning to a CD and update the BIOS in this way.

    Hi all

I have a problem with the Thinkpad X 230. After a recent update of Windows 7 (64-bit), the screen resolution is set to 800 x 600 and brightness to the minimum. FN + F8/F9 does not work. The brightness is uncontrolled. I had to restore the system before the update.

How to solve the problem, do anyone know?

    Thank you!

    Isosik

    Hi Isosik,

    Welcome to Lenovo Community!

According to the request, we understand that you are facing problem with the display resolution on your ThinkPad X 230.

If you have updated the drivers from Windows update, sometimes this kind of problem occurs with windows generic drivers for cause of driver incompatibility, suggest always update drivers only via the ThinkVantage System Update utility. Update only the application of Microsoft Windows Update.

You can also manually download the drivers from the Lenovo support site.

    Lenovo support site.

    I hope this helps.

  • ZV5000 - want to get the BIOS update but do not have Windows

    Hello

just got my trusty zv5000 AMD out of the closet and intend to play with Linux on it.  At the moment there no bone because the HD has not, although I noticed that the BIOS is a former F.21 and would get to you last F.35.    Unfortunately, it seems that I can only do the update of the BIOS if I am running Windows.

Wondering if there is a bootable ISO or floppy image available that I can use to do the update.  I prefer not to have to locate a copy of Windows, install on a new HD just to update the BIOS.

Thanks for any help on this

  • Windows Update error 800700c 1 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

    Windows 7 Professional

There are three updates that I tried to install using Windows Update...

    KB2284742, KB2249857, KB2388210

These three are recent updates and all three fail with 800700c error code 1.

I tried different things fix this... Fixit of Microsofts utility, System Update Readiness Tool, update windows update.

I downloaded the stand alone Setup program will install the packages for each KB article, but non of them. None work with this same error code.

I tried, as suggested by a MVP, try to install the stand-alone packages in Mode without failure. It wouldn't work because the service has not been started.

I'm out of ideas... any suggestions as to how to proceed from here.

It seems that Windows Update will be always updated, patches for Windows KB947821 was installed here where the others have failed.

    Thanks for your help

    Thanks for the suggestion hhhhh.

However, I have read somewhere in my search for a solution to this problem that a repair installation will not solve this problem. I think I'll just bite the bullet and due to a relocation complete Windows 7. I know... it's like using a rifle to kill a fly, but there appear to be no other solution... which is pretty surprising actually.

  • Windows Update fails with error 0x800f0830

I have two laptops that were formerly running Windows 7 Professional Edition x 64 on a Server 2008 domain. Due to network problems are intractable, both have been restored at the factory using the Toshiba Recovery Wizard settings.  The chosen option was to retrieve the default values only keeping DO NOT user data. Everything seems to work, but two laptops boots into Windows 7 Home Premium x 64. It's OK, as we have for them use outside the field. Now, my problem is that I can't run Windows Update on each machine.

Before you run the update of Windows, the following files are in the folder of the download of the Software Distribution folder:

KB958559 (Windows Virtual PC) and KB958488 (Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1).

Launch Windows Update and the updates, I get a message that I need to download an update from Windows Update. I click on update, he begins to search for the update and - error 800F0830. An extensive search on Google has barely turned anything on this error. It does not even appear in the list of troubleshooting of errors. The log of the Software Distribution folder shows "Download failed" and error code 800f0830 for KB958559 and KB958488.

I tried the following steps to solve the problems:

Run this utility to update Windows, set except x 0 80070003 errors. Update Services arrested Windows, renamed the Software Distribution folder. Tried new same outage updates.

Windows Update service stopped, deleted the Software Distribution data files and download folders

Run system, no found error update readiness tool

Downloaded KB958559 manually and tried to install it manually. Installation failed with the same error 0x800f0830 code.

Install the latest Windows Update Agent.

I'm running out of ideas, but need to be addressed if we're going to use these computers on our network of comments. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • Windows update does not correctly, installation Win7

    Hello

I got a refurbished Dell Optiplex 580 computer which was installed Windows7 on it by a service store.

He began to update the OS a few days ago, it is said that there were more than 260 updates installed.  But first I installed Avast antivirus and installed for a little more than programs.

Occasionally he got stuck on an update for 5 hours, it says do not turn off the computer, but I decided it was ridiculous and I restarted.  There was once a long list of updates in the update list, which had failed, successful and which were pending.  I do not understand about the updates failed, what that means?  There is no option to "try again" or something like that.  Each reboot of the computer, he had more updates to install.  This lasted 3 days.  Now what happens, is that Windows Update says that the computer is updated if I manually check.  But if I check again, it says that Windows cannot find new updates.  What does that mean???  I downloaded and ran Windows utility to update there have been mistakes 0x80072EFD and 0 x 80070057 and when I looked up the error, something said to try a clean boot and I did that close off my Avast antivirus, but the update error always happens like that.

I KNOW there is a LONG list of updates and many are waiting and some have failed, but it does not show that more, just that she is up to date and then if I check again he said: he can't check the updates.

Does anyone have an idea on what's going on?

    Thank you

Sorry for the delay, I installed Windows 10 and there is no problem that I am aware of the present moment.  Thank you.
