Windows Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64 bit upgrade

Dear all,

I appreciate that an update of a 32 bit OS to 64-bit is not possible, and so I have to run a clean install. However, I can buy a CD to upgrade and which allows to do the clean install, or I have to buy a "new version" somehow.

My processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo (T7500) which, as far as I am aware, is 64-bit capable. (I have Ubuntu 64 bit on it, so I can also assume so).

In addition, if a "custom installation" (clean) is made, it essentially will install Windows 7 as another partition or delete the vista one or the other way around. Seems a strange question, which I enjoyed, but for the moment, I currently 17.7 GB free and according to Windows 7 requires 20. I could easily get rid of a load of content, but I am interested in how the process works.

Thank you, Ian Clark

    Hello

I'm curious to know where I can find the Thinkvantage for Vista 64-bit software.  I bought my T61 with Vista Ultimate (32 bit) in 2007, but decided to downgrade to XP due to performance issues.  I have used XP for some time now and has recently purchased and upgraded to Vista Ultimate 64-bit.  I've been downloading drivers from the Lenovo Web site, but I can't find the DVD software and some other applications.  Anyone know where I can go to find?  2 years ago, I have created the Vista recovery CD but I don't seem to be able to pull software out of it.  Anyone know where I can go to get the software miss me?

BTW, yes I know that the original Vista Ultimate license includes 64 - bit.  I didn't know that until the after that I bought a new copy of the software.  I don't even know if Lenovo provides CDs upgrade to Vista 64-bit.

    DRM for your help.

    George

The missing applications are only distributed in C:\SWTOOLS on the preload factory. Think that they will work in both Vista 32 and 64. If you do not save SWTOOLS 2 years ago, your only option is to install Vista 32 on a spare your recovery disk hard drive and copy it.

I do not see a clean installation guide Lenovo T61, but here 's mine for Vista 32 on T500.

  • HP Pavilion dv2620ca with Vista (32 bit) - upgrade to Win 8 on a new SSD

I'm considering upgrading the laptop indicated in the subject line.  It runs very slowly and I don't like Vista.  I have a new SSD I want to use as the target for the upgrade, but have heard there are problems with the activation key when you try to upgrade old drive to a new drive rather than overwring NLE.  What someone know how to do this or can point me to a link with the steps.

    Thank you

To answer your questions of synthesis:

    1. If Microsoft upgrade wizard has not shown the compatibility of all hardware drivers, you can install Windows 8. However, please do not expect an improvement in performance on Vista due to the hardware configuration.

    2. the option that you have is the way the more echonomic to Windows 8.

32-bit to 64-bit is NOT an upgrade path.

It must be done with a clean installation using a Vista FULL 64-bit disk/license.

Buy a version of disk/license FULL Vista 64 bits of your local computer, or online store: amazon, newegg, etc.

  • Satellite A350 - Question about RAM and Vista 32 bit - 64 bit

I bought a Satellite A350 Tiger Direct. He moved with Windows Vista 32 bit.
It is capable in my view up to 8 GB of Ram. Vista 32 bit does support 3.

All reviews on this laptop online say that it came with 64-bit and 400 GB of memory.
Mine came with only 230 GB of memory and 32 bit vista. I ran Belarc advisor, and he tells me that my computer is 64-bit ready.

Is this true? Why is - this me came not with Vista 64 bit?
I want to upgrade my ram but with 32 bits, which is not possible and according to Microsoft you cannot update 32-bit to 64-bit.
So should I buy Vista 64-bit upgrade? (for around 300 euros!). Is this in any way about this?

What are my options? I want 4 GB of Ram or more really bad...

What Satellite A350 do you have exactly?

    AFAIK the most recent series of Toshiba laptop pre-installed a dual operating system;
In this case, you can choose between Vista 32-bit or 64-bit.

To obtain the 64-bit, you will need to restart the laptop and have to press F8.
Here you must choose the option to fix my computer. Then select Toshiba HDD recovery and finally, you should see the option which would be you can toggle between the 32 and 64 bit.

Usually the Vista 32 bit supports 3.2 GB RAM.
Only the 64-bit Vista will be able to recognize 4 GB and more.

I just updated my iPhone, the recent phone must have the latest version of iTunes installed, I currently have 12.3 but I'm unable to download the latest version, I have Windows Vista 64-bit on my desktop, can anyone help?

I don't think that Vista will support the latest version of iTunes, which is necessary for the latest version of iOS. I will check something quick and get back to you. What iPhone do you have? What happens when you try to download the latest version?

Even on Windows 64-bit, Firefox is a 32-bit application, then your data will be used. It is easier if the version is the same on both (for example, Firefox 3.6 to 3.6, Firefox 5 to 5).

  • Re: Satellite X 200 - 22F - is - can I use BIOS of Vista 64 bit for Windows 7?

    Hello!

Can I use Vista 64 - bit - 2.50 for my X 200 - 22 Satellite BIOS update? I just installed Windows 7 HOME PREMIUM 64 bit and it works fine.
Before that, I had XP-32 bit running.

    Thank you in advance!

    Tom

    Hi tn411,

I guess that the BIOS of 64 bit Vista would be the best choice for Windows 7 64 bit. The other version of BIOS on the Toshiba site seems to be for 32 bit OS, so you can choose the 64-bit version of Vista.

If you have any other questions, please let us know! :)

  • Portege M400: Where to find Windows Vista 64-bit

    Hello!

I've owned a Portege M400 for a period of 3-4 months now, and I wonder if there is even one person out there who managed to get this laptop computer working under vista 64-bit.

I finally got bluetooth drivers to work, after the arrival of drivers available. But the following list does not work or I have not found drivers that work.

    -The buttons below the LCD
-Accelometer (and all the utilities like screen rotation or to do something about tilting machine)
HARD disk utility - protection (I installed Vista drivers, but they totally destroyed the machine and I had to restore system did not start after the installation of windows)
    -Fingerprint reader

And I could live if I couldn't get buttons and accelometer to work, but still it would be great that the computer laptop everything would work.

I'm starting to lose hope and I am already planning to install pirate Vista 32 bit in this laptop... Because it seems that it was a mistake to buy 64-bit ultimate. Some drivers Toshibas indicates they are pilots 'vista', but they do not yet work with the 64-bit version, which has little frustrating...

In any case if someone could help me I would appreciate it a lot! Because I'm getting slowly frustrated with this problem with vista 64-bit.

    Thanks in advance

I really understand you, but there is nothing to see! Toshiba Vista 64-bit drivers are not available on the Toshiba page. Nothing!

Of course, you can use a Vista 64 bit on laptops, but you will get not all 64-bit drivers. Maybe more later but not at this time!

So either you will switch back to Vista 32 bit or you need to use this notebook without 64-bit drivers. But this is not recommended

  • Upgrade to Windows Vista 32 bit Windows 7 32 bit - L500D - 11 p

    Hello

in recent years, I bought the laptop L500D - 11 p. The OS Windows Vista 32 bit was preinstalled. Then I found that I can improve my OS to Windows 7 32 bit. But I need a Windows 7 upgrade disk. I didn t find it on my portable package. Where can I get?

    Thank you for your support.

    Yours sincerely

    Tompson

    > I bought a few years the laptop L500D - 11 p
That of the problem. This action of upgrade is finished a long time ago.

Now it's too late. This upgrade offer is over. If you have Win7 on your laptop, you must purchase Microsoft Win7 disk.

  • Satellite P100: Conexant audio only is not supported on Windows Vista 64-bit

Last week, I install new Windows Vista 64-bit system, but not sound. I think it was the problem with the audio driver 64-bit. Is that someone has the new driver for vista 64-bit?

It seems that some devices are not recognized by Vista common drivers that were shipped with the Vista operating system and therefore the new drivers are needed. But because Vista is not official on the market (official start is late January 2007) drivers are not published.

But where did you get the version of Vista 64-bit?

  • Package of added value and Windows Vista 64-bit on Satellite P200

Hello, recently I changed Windows version of 32-bit to 64-bit. Everything works perfectly except PPV.

When I try to install it, it produces an error message that says:

    ID_ERR_NOTINSTALLTVALZ_MESSAGE

I found in some old discussions that I should update my bios, so I downloaded most recent bios, and when I tried to update, the pop-up message that I already have this version.

    I did some research and I found some drivers for the 64-bit version - [link to driver | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 152 & selProduct = 746 & selSho rtMod = null & language = 13 & selOS = 27 & selType = all & yearup load = & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = al lMachines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = all & selectedLanguage = 13 & type = all & page = 1 & ID = 61866 & DISO = 27 & driverLanguage = 13]
and in the statement, he said that I should
"It's only the driver of value added package for 64-bit computers. Installation instructions: 1. unzip the zip-> 2. Right-click on the "TVALZ_O.INI" file-> 3. After a right-click on the file, choose "Install" from the context menu. »
But when I do that there is an error message that says that this INF file selected does not support this method of installation.
I tried to install it in safe mode, but the error is the same.

Maybe I should put these drivers in a specific location? If Yes, where?
Who can I install everything first? VAP installation for 32 bit, then driver for 64-bit? Or maybe the other way around?

If someone could write me a clear instruction how step by step, I would be really grateful.

Hmm, I wonder about this sentence
    > I've done some research and I found some drivers for the 64 bit version

What is your laptop model number? Have you chosen the right Toshiba VAP for the right notebook series?

If you have chosen the correct drivers (for the right notebook series) then try to copy the extracted files in the folder of Toshiba Value Package added to programs-> Toshiba-> Toshiba Value added Package.

Then try to run the ini file as described on the page of the European driver Toshiba.

I left it on for hours and nothing came, so I tried to install Vista 32 bit, but does not. I need Windows Vista 64 bit or is this something else?

In general your ad is a little complicated to understand. We understand that you have problems with the installation of the OS, but I put t understand exactly what happens then please be so kind and try to explain what happening exactly when you try to use the original Toshiba recovery image.

    Does installation starts correctly?

When can I get the drivers for Windows Vista 64-bit? Or I have to intall drivers 32-bit on my 64 bit Vista operating system?

    Please links ;)

    Hello!

What Satellite model do you have?

You cannot install the 32-bit drivers, you need 64-bit. I think 64-bit is not available for a laptop Satellite L but you can search on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

In addition, you can also search on external Web sites for 64-bit drivers.
    For example:
    www.Intel.com
    www.Realtek.com

    Hello

I have laptop HP HDX which had a sound problem with message of error "Could not play the test tone", tried in several ways by online suggestions and ended to reinstall the new copy with recovery disk. As part of the recovery with a reovery of HP drive, I tried to get it back and it formatted boot partiion and got this error message "error 1002 if the problem persists, please contact HP support. My laptop is out of warranty now.  I talked to HP support and they ask me to buy new drives recovery and someone in this forum mentioned that recovery disk will lift the same mistake and we would need to purchase technical support and even that has not worked for soembody after paying $ 200 to support. I am struck with recovery of the laptop now. I also tried the recovery partition revovering and gave rise to no luck.  I'm now out of warranty.

I am really fedup with bearing on my this laptop windows vista 64 bit HP HDX laptop problems. What is your best suggestion for me to recover my windows vista now?

    Thank you.

    GK

I ordered the drive to restore HP for $ 16 and I have no problem in my OS with this disk recovery. Recovery partition that came with my laptop had this error 1002 and he really tortured than me. It is recovered successfully with this new disc of recovery with on all issues.

I would have saved a lot of time, would not have had any stress and restore ($16) if HP disks price had built the free bug recovery partition.

I'll be very careful in buying HP products in the future.

    Peace out.
