Windows XP does not turn off

Help! The past two nights, when I went to shut down my laptop (a HP ' 03), I push the button closure, only to watch the laptop not arrested. It just happens. I can move the mouse, so it's not a gel. But if I try to select the options (i.e. open a web browser to find help on the Microsoft.com site), it tells me that I can't because he is arrested. I wind up pressing the "reset" button and immediately turns off the laptop.

We have done no new software updates or changes that I've known for a few days, except for the installation of a photo tool viewing this CD along with photos we did recently at a retailer. I have a hardware malfunction that needs to be repaired, or is it a software problem? Or is it a sign that my machine needs significant clean up? Thank you!

I had this problem with a fresh install of XP Professional w / SP3, as well as software for a (NIC) network interface card. For some reason any unknown writer, the computer would keep restart whenever I stopped him. It turns out that, in the BIOS on these old machines Gateway, you can set a flag to turn on in response to a signal by the NIC to the networkof the computer. Under Control Panel/System/Device Manager/network adapters, you can also define what type of signal (made package or Magic Packet) from the network will make it happen. Most of my experience has been with the stand-alone machines and it was quite a surprise for me. I disabled the flag in the BIOS, and then set the "System control" network adapter Either one of them probably would have done the trick, but I was in a hurry and I care to experiment more. The problem stopped and I was able to stop the machine.

  • Satellite PRO U300 does not turn off

    Hello

I am facing a problem for the last few days on my Satellite PRO U - 300 (31st PSU)...

The machine does not turn off and the power light stays on (blue LED) even after you have disabled. In fact, happened 3 - 4 times when I start the computer normally by pressing the power button / stop, it does not start and I noticed that the indicator was not extinguished even after + shut down +. Like any it is blocked! I have to finally, remove and reinsert the battery to start the laptop.

Some details of my pc are as under:

Version of the OS Microsoft® Windows Vista Business 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1
    BIOS Version V2.00
    Processor Intel (r) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU T7100 @ 1.80 GHz

Can someone help me solve this problem. Is it possible that during the uninstallation of programs, any perticular driver file is also deleted?
    Thank you

    Hello

I don't know that you understand the indicator of power, but to me it sounds like AC Power LED and this LED is always on when the laptop is connected to the power supply.

Power on / off LED is probably what you mean (the other starting on the left).
Anyway, you turn off your laptop using a standard on the Start button?
Are you sure you want to use the Hibernate mode.

Believe me, the entire description here is pretty confusing to me. It may be that the laptop is turned OFF but power light is still on.

Have you installed something 4 days ago? Or deleted some important application?
Sorry, but it is not easy to say with certainty what the problem is here.

    Hello

On some machines, the pilot for 11 series IMEI has been known to cause that kind of question of the judgment, so it may be worth trying an earlier version.

You can use the following method to install an earlier version of the driver IMEI.

Download driver IMEI on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp66001-66500/sp66228.exe

Disable your wireless card (should be f12 ).

Open your download folder and run the installer - it warns you that it is an earlier version, but simply continue.

    When finished, restart the laptop.

If the computer shuts down correctly, turn on your wireless adapter and use the utility on the following link to prevent Windows 10 to update automatically the driver IMEI again.

    Hi Gronfors,

Try to start the computer in safe mode do a system restore and check if it works very well.

To start in safe mode follow the link given below.

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If you are able to boot to the desktop in mode safe mode try Method 1 if one does not work follow method 2.

    Method 1:

Navigate to the specified location and delete the files, and then try to boot into normal mode

    c:\windows\winsxs\reboot. XML

    c:\windows\winsxs\pending. XML

Once you boot to normal mode try to install the updates one by one and check if Windows update terminates the process.

    Method 2:

If the above given step does not work try it to perform a restore of the system in safe mode and check if that helps. Follow the steps below.

You can perform a restore of the system on the computer to restore the previous settings again.

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

For more information follow the link below.

    System Restore: frequently asked questions

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/system-restore-frequently-asked-questions

Once the system restore try to boot to the desktop in normal mode and check if updates work fine. Try to install the updates one at a time.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • HP 15 Notebook: Mute light does not turn off!

Hey so been having this problem with my light on the button mute. It does not turn off. I checked to see if the volume works and it makes. Mute works but the light just stays on. Help!

    Hello

    Try the following.

Download Realtek HD Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp72501-73000/sp72968.exe

When finished, press and hold the Windows key and press R

In the run window, type devmgmt.msc and press to enter.

In Device Manager, expand sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the Realtek device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you are finished, download and reinstall the Chipset driver at the following link.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp72001-72500/sp72183.exe

When the reinstallation of Chipset is finished, stop the laptop.

Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the default values (sometimes it is f5, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

When windows has reloaded, open your download folder, right click on the installer of Realtek and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, reboot the laptop and let windows load completely for a few minutes before checking.

    Kind regards

  • Light (switch) on my screen does not turn off. I have to shut my computer down several times a day to turn off the monitor.

Light (switch) on my screen does not turn off.  So, I shut down my computer and restart several times a day, because when I put it in mode 'sleep', he wakes to the top in a few minutes and will not fall asleep.  I could put a blanket on my screen when not in use, but I'd rather find a way to make it stay asleep when I tell him.

Light (switch) had already done once before and I was so worried that once I turned off the monitor that I would never get it new on... a bit short of money here, to buy a new monitor, but the next day, I pressed the power button with an additional downward pressure and I could so he could start working again (able to turn the market monitor).  It was about 3 weeks ago.  Now, the light stays green, unless I stop the whole computer.

Maybe my main problem is sleep mode, which removes the screen for like 2 minutes and then he wakes up to the top and is so rude when I myself and try to sleep, I just turn off the monitor everytime I put the computer to sleep.

Now, I can't turn off the monitor, except by turning off the computer.

  • A Wi - Fi connection does not turn off correctly

When I turn off Wi - Fi in the quick toggle or settings page it does not turn off and it is left running. (I have not 'analysis always' either) I can see in the graph of the battery when I turn it off for a while it always shows the green bar on Wi - Fi. I had this problem on 5.1 on my 4g (2013) g bike and I don't always.

This seems to be a matter of google - I have it on non-Moto phones as well. The only thing to do is to restart with the Wifi turned off.

I don't remember if disable the Wifi in the precision of the GPS solves this problem or not. I decided to live with it for now.
