Windows7 install on the old XP machine

With installation disk lapping th CD player, nothing happens. Some research shows that my windows for the CD drive registry is damaged or missing, so I can't use the disc to install my new Windows 7 Professional. Can I do by buying a cd USB player and change the boot order to USB first? Or will I get the same error of Windows registry corrupt or missing? What should have been an easy task turned into a real fight. Thank you very much for your help! I tried to put the installation on a USB disk and the computer could see the USB, but it wouldn't boot to it. However, my cd player will turn to the disc, but the computer can't see it because of the damaged or missing Windows registry. Thanks for any help!

Windows 7 requires a DVD player. You can install from a CD player because a DVD is 4.7 GB, and a CD Player cannot read that.

You can try to create an ISO and then a bootable copy on a USB to your Windows 7 installation disc.

  • Copy the old Time Machine files to the new disk TM

Sorry people, I have to ask two (related) questions:

    (1) I have a WD My Passport for Mac drive connected to an Airport Extreme and 2 Macs use for backup via Time Machine. Now, the disk is full. I bought a WD My Book for Mac drive with a capacity of 4 TB and am ready to go.

Question: can I copy the old files of Time Machine on my new book?

    (2) until now 2 different Macs used the My Passport as a Time Machine drive with no problems.

Question: Should I partition the new drive (My Book) and every Mac uses its own partition as Time Machine or can proceed us as is?

Thank you very much for your help!

Question: can I copy the old files of Time Machine on my new book?

Yes you can, but there is a lot of work, a little complicated, time consuming and not worth the effort for most users.  The main reasons for this are...

    (1) the older backups will take a good amount of space on the new drive, limiting the space on the disk again.

    (2) Time Machine backups for the old files will continue... it will make a new copy of every Mac and then go forward again with incremental backups.

A better plan would be to keep the old drive on hand for a few months, in which case you need to go back and look for a file. After a few months, you will have a beautiful story from backup to the new hard drive and no need of older backups so you can remove the old disk and keep around as a spare part or use it for other purposes.

Question: Should I partition the new drive (My Book) and every Mac uses its own partition as Time Machine or can proceed us as is?

While you can partition the drive and save each Mac to a separate partition if you wish, there is really no need to do this since Time Machine will automatically create separate for each Mac backup files.

  • Heya, I got adope photoshop elements 8 years ago and he had installed in the old computer, which is close to death, I'm still working on how to reinstall to my new laptop but I don't have the disk, after that many House moves... and I never even use

Impossible to copy paste my Q then, omg it's to kill me LOL

Download and install from http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-7-8-9-downloads.html , then use your serial number to activate it.

If you use most on your old computer, disable it there before installing on the new.

  • can I remove the old time machine backups

can I delete older backups time machine in car

You can, but it is not recommended... and will be a long and tedious process with a very real risk that your entire backup file may be damaged. Is not worth the time and the risk in my opinion.

Really, you have three options viable, listed in the order of most expensive on toward the bottom.

    (1) add a new time Capsule and begin to go upside backups... you keep your backups downside... you have to buy a new time Capsule

    (2) add a USB drive to your existing Time Capsule and start backups to go.   Upside down... you keep your old backups.  Downside... the USB will be slow compared to time in car Capsule.

    (3) clear your Time Capsule drive and start over with backups upside... no extra charge. Downside... you lose your backups.

  • Windows 7 install on the old system

I'm not quite sure that if my machine will work with work with Windows 7, even with the information gave me the Upgrade Advisor. The only thing that seems like it might be a problem is the audio drivers. The machine is a gateway profile 4, which has a processor clocked at 2.4 ghz and 80 GB HDD. I think that the computer has been on the market about 2003 if that says anything. There are also installation provided with computer disks, then you might uninstall and reinstall or repair if necessary. I'm kinda stuck between trying to install windows 7 on this computer or just get a newer computer with Windows 7 on it already.

All your drivers came from the bridge, as the computer manufacturer provides drivers for purchased brand computers/computers portable and if Gateway has no Windows 7 Audio drivers available for this model of computer that has integrated sound, you can buy a card of its Compatible Windows 7 and install it yourself.

    See you soon.

  • New Win 7 install on the old Linux workstation

I have a workstation with a 250 GB drive and a RAID array 0, consisting of two 1 TB drives.  I have a RAID controller in the BiOS.  I change the machine from Ubuntu to Win7.  I heard "bad things" on Win7 and RAID if it is not done correctly.  I want to assure you that the RAID array is recognized by Win7 when I reformat the 250 GB drive (which will become the c: / drive) before hose anything.  Seems that Win7 will recognize the setup of the BiOS RAID as the "D: / Drive"-who is in good health and recognized as good during the boot process (F10 to display the RAID) and using the dmraid Linux daemon.  The table is currently used to contain a large number of data files.  Please advise... the last time I did something with Windows to install Windows for 3.11 of working groups.  Best regards, Dave

  • How to make the new version, I just installed as the old work that has stopped working?

I used Thunderbird for many years and have always been very satisfied.

A few days earlier, he has stopped working on my computer. I think that this was due to an update of AVG Free 2015. (When I restarted after the automatic update, Tbird and Chrome and Firefox broke everything. AVG has since been removed and replaced with Avast. Chrome and Firefox, both work very well after I installed the latest versions.) I took the opportunity to get the latest version of Tbird (I was 37) and installed it. TBird is OK, but the operation is a total disaster!

He used to see me just like the user. Now I have to choose my Inbox by clicking, and then open it in a new tab. I could accept this pain if things worked OK. The first email that I click appears in the message pane. But I can't delete it unless I double click to open in a new tab! I can not get the following message to be displayed in the messages pane. It's used to work if I simply clicked on the message.

How can I make Tbird work as he did? I used to love, now I hate it! Please help me before I dump Tbird and switch to Gmail!

    Thanks for any help.

  • To transfer the old backups Time Machine from a hard disk external to the airport in Time Capsule

Is it possible to transfer the old Time Machine backups from my external hard drive to Time Capsule airport?

Having done this in the past, I can say that it is possilble... but is not anywhere near the amount of time and effort it will take to do this.

Even when I was successful, Time Machine has started a new backup of the Mac... it has not added on the old existing backups, so I lost a good part of the backup on the Time Capsule space.

This will be easier if you keep just on the hard drive for a few months... in case you need to go back and pick up a file... While the time Capsule built a new story backups tons.  After 3 to 6 months, you will not need the old backups, and you can erase the disc and use it as a spare part.

If you want to try it anyway... see this article: http://pondini.org/TM/18.html

  • How to move data from the old hard drive to a new operating system, games, songs, vista etc.

you want to install more hard drive. How can I move all of the data, os, games, music, etc.

    and have computer always starts.

    Hello

You cannot move by themselves programs

you need to reinstall it from the original media

read this about moving everything, including the operating system

or save your data and reinstall clean vista

There are different ways to do

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning software to move your operating system installed from the old to the new hard disk

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html

or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

link below is an example of this:

    http://www.Acronis.com/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/index.html

also to put your machine how you bought:

    1. that vista is preinstalled, you should have a recovery on your old hard drive partition

You can recovery disks to reinstall on your new hard drive

ask the manufacturer of the machine how

    2. contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    3. or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

Save all data, because it will be lost, do the above
