So if I understand correctly, I charge Home premium, then simply use the upgrade key and it will unlock win Pro, or I have to download pro then install it on Home Premium and use the key?

YES! As Andre also noted. You must activate Home Premium with his first touch, then simply use the key to upgrade Express to go Pro. Pro is already part of Home Premium and the key to upgrade Express just unlocks.

  • family support basic and home premium Vista

I got a dell vista Home Basic disk in a computer ADVENT vista Home premium laptop just go turn it on. now it won't let me change the product keys to activate the computer laptop advent. any ideas?

    Hello

You can't do what you did.

Not to mention that the illegality of the use of the OEM Dell DVD wrong, you change not versions of Vista by changing the product key.

You need to reinstall the operating system using the appropriate media

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact advent and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

The way you wrote, I guess that Vista was preinstalled on the computer when you purchased the computer.
In other words, you have a version of OEM license. Yes?

If so,the product key you have is related to the original motherboard. It is not good for the new MB.
To use your product key, you must replace the motherboard with the exact model, the machine came with that.

Call the manufacturer of your computer for a suitable motherboard.

  • Can I download or buy MS complete PC Backup and restore to my Home Premium Vista or a third-party equivalent?

I've been on a computer for a year so there are a lot of things and I do not know, I had a virus my corrupted files and I had to wipe the hard drive and I want my system backup procedures. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with OS Vista Home Premium on a platform bit 68 I found it didn't have the complete PC Backup and restore program for backup. The system I save file, but not programs I could download, as I understand it, this program is in Business or Ultimate Vista OS so I wonder if I can download this program on my computer? Either the backup program by itself, or the program professional/ultimate, preferably something that is free.  Or can I download another program that does the same job? I found that I can backup to a virtual server, mounting vhd and MS virtual machine so I have this in mind too, for any help or suggestion is appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello

No, you can not download this complete Vista PC Backup program and there is no platform bit 68 (try 64 bit)

  • Cannot restore backup image Vista Home Premium Vista Ultimate

So recently my house was broken into and my laptop stolen.  Fortunately, considerate thieves left my backup hard drive external, I used my destination for Vista Ultimate backups.

Advance of 2 weeks and now I have a new laptop.  It has Vista Home premium installed. It is deplorable that I must pay for 2 because Microsoft OS assumed that I am a software pirate and does not give me an OEM OS disk, but I also use a version with fewer features.

But I'm better.  Soon I discovered that my non "backups" are not all files that are not some base document/text/music files.  All my encrypted volumes that have my REALLY important files were not considered sufficiently specific to save Vista, probably because their extension wasn't .txt, .doc or .mp3.

Fine.  In fact, I did disk-image backups.  As recently, you mind, but at least most of my stuff should be there.

And, I can't restore my own disk-image backups because Vista Home Premium does not support.  Great, not only bought Vista * double *, I'm not allowed to retrieve the files that I recorded with a BONE that I bought and supposed to be always clean, but only in certain intellectual property of Kafka-esque fantasy land.

I tried the 3rd party virtualization software to try to start the image (.vhd files). No go.  Can someone tell me how to recover my files?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ixne,

We will not be able to recover an ultimate Image on Home Premium. However, if you have a backup of your entire PC, then you can try to do the same thing in Windows Recovery Mode.

Starting with the DVD of the operating system, once you see the manufacturer of the screen, Tap "F8". Choose the option "full restoration of the PC.

Hope this helps with your problem.

  • Cannot upgrade Vista Home Premium Vista Ultimate 64-bit

I have a computer with an OEM Vista Home Premium 64-bit version installed. I bought Vista Ultimate Upgrade 64-bit and when I try to upgrade instead of clean install I not give me the option to upgrade. Instead, I can install a clean install and lose all programs, settings, I have on my system that has taken a lot of time.  Why the copy I bought directly from the microsoft.com site does not my upgrade, even if it is the version upgrade of Vista? I want to be able to do things such as distance to this computer and the Premium version does not allow me.

Thank you for all the advice and help.

Home Premium runs on SP2 and I bought an upgrade ultimate retail package which has Ultimate SP1. • How can I do an update instead of a new installation if you are using Windows Anytime Upgrade from Vista Home Premium, Vista Ultimate?

I have a server at home, but one of my main computers cannot remotely access because it is running Vista Home Premium.  As a result, I bought a Pack anytime upgrade to upgrade to Vista Ultimate.
When I ran the installer, it downloaded updates to update and then opens a screen where the options are updated or install fresh.  However, the update option is grayed out and there is a message at the bottom of the screen saying that if I want I must must upgrade to a newer version of Windows.
A new facility is out of the question for me.  I'm almost 2 years of work on the machine and it is set as I want.  I have a few training licenses, I don't think I'd be able to reinstall it.  Besides, I don't want to spend days and days software and reconfigure my system.
I have a Windows 7 Ultimate machine, but I want to leave this machine as a Vista machine.  At I throw my money on the upgrade pack or is there someway around this problem?
