Wireless connection on Portege R100

I have a couple of portege R100. When you connect to my domain, using the wireless connection, the logon scripts fail to run the first time. If you log out, then log in again, the script will run without problem. Y at - it a fix for this problem?

Hello

Unfortunately have no proper explanation, but I guess that WLAN cannot be connected so fast that LAN and it may be the reason why the first logon fails. In my opinion it has nothing to do with the functionality of the device and this is just a feature of network.

Maybe some WLAN expert can give you a good explanation.

Good luck!

  • Update card WLAN MiniPCI on a Portege R100

    Hello

I have a Portege R100 and want to upgrade the internal wlan card in an adapter 802.11 g.
I ve has already searched the Internet, but has not found a fitting. Can you tell me if it s possible, and that I can use. Y at - it than not with integrated bluetooth too?
    Thank you, Florian Niedermayer

    Hello

Your Portege is old enough laptop and designed model 4 years ago. I found some info it comes with mini-PCI adapter Intel PRO / Wireless 2100 LAN 3B. The same WLAN card is in my laptop Tecra and I am quite pleased. The download speed is not the fastest, but it works well enough and I can use Skype to talk with friends without any connectivity problem.

In any case, to find compatible parts for older models of laptops is not so easy. If nobody here can offer accurate information, try contacting your local dealer or authorized Toshiba service. They are responsible for the hardware support and they should be able to give the right info. You may be able to use Intel WLAN 802.11 g (bis zu 54Mbps) with good old classic. I don't see another solution. If possible, try to get this card and test it. If this does not work you can send it back.

Please let us know if the upgrade will be successful.

  • Portege R100: RTC battery replacement

Problem: On my computer laptop Portege R100 the RTC battery needs to be replaced (laptop loses date and time system start-up after having done automatically stop when the batteries were empty).

Question: I am trying to figure if this RTC battery is easily replaceable, i.e. I can order it from my dealer and can their technician quickly/easily replace the battery or is this battery soldered to the motherboard and replacement has so to do by Toshiba technicians, which means that my laptop will be gone for a few weeks?

Thanks a lot for any input.

    Hello

As I know the RTC battery is not soldered on the card mother but only connected with the cable. To remove the CMOS battery, you have to disconnect the cable from battery RTC PJ8760 on the system board and remove the battery from the RTC to the RTC battery.

All that s. But if you have no experience in these things you shouldn't t replace yourself. The safe option is to contact the Toshiba service partner to change the battery. Here, you can also order one compatible

  • On Satellite L750/0 wireless connectivity issues s 5

    I own a laptop L750/0 s 5.

I seem to have a problem with my wireless connection, where anywhere not at 10 m from the router the connection cuts in and out with the yellow sign 'limited connectivity' always appears. disconnect and reconnect solves the problem for a few minutes. Ive resorted to the close session of the router.

the computer is 2 months old, the Wlan driver is up-to-date. power options have been configured to be on maximum performance for Wlan etc etc.

The main thing that annoys me, it's all the others (much older laptops) in our House very much work where mine doesn't. I actually lost performance from where I can get my old toshiba portege m300 to this new wireless signals.

In terms of information, the computer is running windows 7. Wireless network card is Atheros AR9002WB-1NG.

If theres any other information that you need, as im sure there will be, I would like to know and ill try my best.

    The router is really new.

    Thanks for your help

The latest Wlan drivers can be found here:

Please keep in mind that you use the latest driver v9.2.0.419.0

To be honest, I had the same idea to disable the power save for Wlan and it more often it should work are you sure that you have changed this in the same power station that is used when the laptop is running on battery power?

However, it would be interesting to know if the Satellite L750 uses the same Wlan 802.11 standard, as do other portable
In the Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab Wlan card, you can choose the standard Wlan 802.11

  • Touchpad does not work on Portege R100

    Hello

I have recently boght a Toshiba Portege R100 without any installation CD Windows XP Home Edition worked fine but the touchpad is not.

I installed additional drivers of Toshiba. Now, I'm able to adapt to all kinds of things about the Touchpad, but still it does not work. I was also running Knoppix 5.2 since July 2007. Same problem with Linux.

Have I not a faulty laptop? How will I know, please?

Have you tested the touchpad with Windows XP?
You connected an external USB mouse and you have the same problem?

Normally the touchpad should work without a driver, they are part of the operating system.
You can disable/enable it with FN + F9.
I'm not sure, but you can also enable/disable the touchpad in the BIOS.

It could be that the touchpad is defective, but ask an ASP for help. They can check the necessary parts for laptop and Exchange.

  • Portege R100 - CPU usage 100%

    Hello!

    Everyone knows about this problem?
My Portege R100 after installing the new copy of Windows XP and directly after the installation of the display driver, Trident (reboot) bizarre behavior.

Welcome screen goes white on the lower part (when the first yellow line is). Then I have some software problems.

When to start records search engine, when I update the list of wireless networks and I explore the files by clicking on 'My computer', (this does not happen when I right click on START and 'Explore') displays CPU usage 100% and everything is so slow that I can barely move a cursor.

Everything goes back to normal once I closed above applications.
I can install all drivers and all right, but after Trident display it is bad.

This is the driver I use since I bought the laptop, I do not know that is fine.
I installed it several times before and I have a few copies of it, which I've already tried so it must be good.

The cross thing only my mind is a hardware failure.
Someone of you knows than before?

    Thank you...

It has nothing to do with your computer - this is the trident driver problem - there is a work - around
    Try changing your display configuration-

    (1) right click on your mouse to the desktop to bring up the display property, and then click Advanced - here, you will see a tab say somethng like 'graphic acceleration.
    (2) reduce the rate of acceleration - move the tab to the left - make sure it is not full
    (3) this trident driver can cause the BONE to redraw the screen whenever you move your mouse with some applications

If my post is not detail for you
Try google with the keyword "how to turn off the graphics acceleration in windows xp" - you will get some good instructions

    That will solve your problem!

Good luck and enjoy your nice laptop!

  • Portege R100 - how to install after Exchange of HARD drive?

    Hello world
I'm new to this forum and I want to know exactly where I'm wrong. I have this portege r100 laptop and the hard drive gave a few days ago. Because I am a novice when it comes to computers, I left the laptop with an engineer, that I found on Kijiji.
Unfortunately, the engineer could not load any operating system on it. I go through this forum and loads found useful answers, but alas, still the same problem.
Could someone guide me in the right direction. I would be really grateful that I have exams coming next week and really need the laptop.

I don't have any CD-ROM compatiable only an external floppy drive.
I tried to install using the windows startup disk (x 6 downloaded from the microsoft Web site), but after the 6 disc it asks me 3 options.

    1. press ENTER to install
    2. recovery console option of
    Output 3.F3

When I press on enter is not superimposed my cd rom which I figured out is not compatiable. If I leave the connected cd rom it says unmountable boot disk. It gives me a bsod. Is there another way, I could install the operating system using only the FDD.
I'd appreciate it really all the help of the experienced members of this forum.
    Thank you.

First of all, you can not use any external CD/DVD drive... you must use a compatible and recommended by Toshiba.

Secondly, I you could try to connect the HARD drive to another computer using the USB caddy.
Then copy the i386 to the HARD disk folder.
Then, you can run the winnt.exe file to start the Setup program.

Once configuration is complete plug the HDD to the Portege and tries to start
It is only theory, but maybe it won't work

  • Portege R100 and external 17 '' LCD - cannot set the resolution of the screen to the right

A 17 "LCD is connected to my Portege R100 via the port replicator. The native resolution is 1280 x 1024. But the actual resolution is only 1024 x 768. The LCD screen can adjust images automatically. Actual resolution can be verified by LCD menu. This distorted text on external LCD.

    I put the exteranl LCD resolution at 1280 x 1024 on panel--> display--> setting...
The version of the video driver is v6.4823 - 104.22_2. BIOS, common module, Toshiba screen device Cahange the Toshiba Hotkey utility for display were all updated to the latest version.

I used Fn + F5 combination to switch between display modes: Simoutaneous, external monitor only. This has not fixed the problem.

    Someone has an idea?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hello

The preferred resolution is not available on the external screen because the display driver that is installed on the laptop does not support!
The external monitor is able to manage the 1280 x 1024, but if this resolution is not listed in the display driver, then you will not be able to choose!

can us or I somehow get a replacement recovery cd coz my uncle recovery cd is lost?
My portege R100 unable connect to the Welcome screen the only thing is to reinstall using recovery cd coz, if I installed it using another cd (not the recovery cd) it always come BSOD:

  • Installing XP on Portege R100

    Hello.

I'm trying to re - install Windows XP on a Portege R100. I have a CD of tools & utilities but no system recovery disk. I have a Toshiba CR ROM that connects to the laptop through a cardbus. I thought it would be a simple matter of putting my XP install disk in and boot from that. Unfortunately, he gets of how most by installing little drivers, then just at the point where it happens with Windows startup, there's the bluescreen error message blue screen following error:

+ A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

+ If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps (and then continues to tell you to chkdsk/f) +.

    + Technical information: * STOP: 0x0000007b (0xf897f524, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) +.

I had similar errors with other laptops by which SATA controller drivers need to be integrated into the Windows Installer disk. Is this a similar situation?

If anyone has any ideas / suggestions, I would be very grateful.

    Kind regards

    Steve

I saw 0x0000007B on my laptop previous installation of XP, it's a problem of HARD disk controller, usually caused when XP cannot find the correct drivers for IDE/SATA controller.

First of all, you need to use a CD of Windows XP Service Pack 2. You can integrate SP2 into the XP CD, google search for "Integrate SP2 XP"

I'm not familiar with this model, but you may need to use a storage F6 driver. Take a look at the Toshiba website for drivers or instructions.

  • Windows XP Setup stops with "Stop 0x0000007B" on Portege R100

I have a Portege R111, but it is the same model as R100. I am trying to install WinXp on it, with a lot of problems.
I have no CD to recover, but as I've read, it's possible.

I use a PCMCIA-cd/dvd player. It starts fine, but after I get a blue screen with the error "* Stop 0x0000007B."
On the microsoft home page, I've read a lot about this
    [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103/en]

It seems that it is a problem with my hd, so I disassembled the 1.8 "HD and connected to my normal pc. Here, I could install WinXP without any problem.
Then I reassembled the hd (with the top winxp system), but guess what, it doesn't. I just get get the menu in what mode I want to boot into windows (safe mode, safe mode with network,...). Whatever mode I select screen freezes after.

I tried to run a normal linux (ram only) on it to see if that works. But it's not. The screen freezes while trying to load the kernel modules.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Hi guys

Portege R100 supports the recovery through the BIOS (by pressing 'C') with (16-bit and Cardbus) PCMCIA cards.
Sequence of disks and controllers (PCMCIA) might work:
    (a) Toshiba, PX1055E-1NST SN: 3431490096 with PC Card (16 bit), II cable, PCMCIA, Rev.043.242
    (b) Toshiba, PX1055E-1NST with a CardBus, cable II, CARD BUS, Rev.136

The drive used in conjunction with the PCMCIA controller is not so important due to the fact that the driver in the BIOS must allow the controller first. There is a generic CD-ROM drive implemented in the BIOS for the connected player. The "PC Card controller Mode" settings in the BIOS has been 'Automatic Selection '.
This means that you have nothing to change in the BIOS, because it is the default value.

It could happen, to connect the power supply in certain circumstances, for example:
    Battery is charged too less.
The PCMCIA supplies unless energy location.
If a player is used with a built in battery, please always connect an appropriate adapter.
