I have an imac under snowleopard. I connected an external hard drive via USB with the intention to back up my data.  I had already used the same external drive to back on my PC.  I laoded ext drive drivers on mac and tried to use time machine to create a backup but time machine could not see the ext drive although Finder could.  I assumed it was because he was previously used on PC and so wrong format so I uninstalled the drivers and has restarted as requested.  When it restarts it says that it cannot find the boot device and asks me to insert the startup disk.  I dig my original CD and put it in the slot and then restart holding down the c key.  But he doesn't know that and come back with the same message.  Only a wireless keyboard so I guess that early start, it started communication upward with keyboard and therefore does not see 'C' being pressed.

I don't know why he can't see the HDD IMAC to start from but any ideas what to try next.  I have a PC keyboard in the loft soemwhere but that does not work?

Try to hold down the option key.  At some point the screen should show you the different boot options.  I can't say for sure, but I would say you should at least see your drive hard and DVD.

Unplug all your devices.  I still see that advice, too.

  • Cannot switch the language layout with wireless keyboard

I do a sort of a media center for my mac mini. So far, everything is great, except for one very annoying thing. I bought this wireless keyboard and it's working great, although there is a problem with the layout language switch. When I change the input language - it is off, according to the change of language icon, if a text input is always in English. I'm quite confused and don't know if it's related to the keyboard itself or it's a question of OS (same behavior was on yosemite, before I've upgraded to el capitan)

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Are you talking about the little flag in the menu bar? This has nothing to do with the language itself, it has to do with keyboard layouts. Any reason you need to switch the layouts?

If you want to change the language of the menus and other system, then you must go to

System-> region and language preferences, then change the order of the languages.

  • Want to 700-230: how to access the BIOS on machine with wireless keyboard and no keyboard on the PC port

    Hi all

I have a HP Envy 700-230 which has a wireless keyboard

How am I supposed to access the BIOS that the keyboard drivers are not loaded until after the machine and there is no normal keyboard connects on this PC for a wired keyboard

With this kind of computor how am supposed to access the BIOS

Obviously to start the reports a keyboard error and suggest I press ESC to access the BIOS that I can't because at startup, there is no current keyboard.

Thanks for any help on this.

    Jeanette

While not a definitive answer, but try a wired USB keyboard instead wireless.  There may be a setting in the BIOS to change the way the keyboard interacts at the start but, of course, you need to enter the BIOS.  Looking at the other comments on this issue, if you happen to have a keyboard PS/2 and a PS/2 to USB adapter, then this seems to be a better choice.  Plug the PS/2 on the PS/2 keyboard to USB adapter and then try that at startup to access the BIOS.  Then, find the setting to allow the keyboard to be recognized at startup.  Another solution is to move the USB port, the wireless keyboard use.  If the rear ports, move forward, if forward move backward.

Let me know if one of these help.

  • How can change starting with wireless keyboard

If you use a wireless keyboard, how a start in recovery (CMD - R) Mode or disk mode target (T)?

It works exactly the same way as a wired keyboard. Restart your Mac and hold down the T or command + R on the keyboard.

If there is a discrepancy, you can do a little faster. Target disk mode can also be launched using System-> startup disk preferences.

  • Where the day before on a 700 wireless keyboard?

I bought a Wireless deskset, 700, worm. 2 and cannot find a way to tell the computer in standby mode.  My OS is XP, sp3.  The keyboard has an A on the cap lock key and a 1 press the locking num without explanation.  No documentation in the instructions.

The caps lock has a capital ("capital") Letter A, and the NumLock key is the graphical number '1' as a reminder (i.e., an icon) what do the keys.

When the caps lock shift key is enabled, you press a button any alphabetical gives the corresponding uppercase letter.  There is usually a light top right of the keyboard that lets you know when caps lock is "on".

The NumLock key is similar.  See this:

The NumLock key exists because keyboards from PC of IBM 84 previous keys had no separate numeric keypad arrows. Num Lock to choose between the two functions. ... Given that most modern desktop computers have a keyboard full size with a paved digital and arrow keys separate, Num Lock is rarely used for its original purpose and ends up confusing the user if it is for a reason any activated unless the user is aware of this.

As with the Caps Lock key, there is usually a light indicating if NUMLOCK is 'on '.
Some Microsoft keyboards have a "Sleep" button, and some do not.  If your keyboard does not have a sleep key, you can install IntelliType (which can be entered the CD with your keyboard or download it here) or AutoHotKey and assign a function to a button of your choice.

There are several ways to put your computer into standby mode, it is probably easier to use the command line feature of Show Stopper of Karen.

  • Problems with Win 7 Professional 64-bit Microsoft wireless keyboard

I've been successfully running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on my desk since last October.  So far, I had been using a Microsoft Wireless Comfort 1 keyboard. 0 and Microsoft optical mouse 2.0 with no issues whatsoever, another that he had got very old and shabby and all the letters had disappeared from the keyboard.  Then I myself treated then for a keyboard Microsoft wireless Comfort keyboard 5000 and 5000, the mouse, sold as a set.

I installed, downloaded the 64-bit drivers updated for Win 7, etc, etc.  The mouse worked perfectly, but the keyboard was nothing else into trouble.  It starts fine but then after about five or ten minutes of work, start some keys not typing and I have to wait a few seconds for him to fend and catch up.  He then sporadically to this.  Re-booting does not seem to make a big difference.  Exchanging the small dongle USB around various ports seems to have an effect slightly but not sustainable.  Remove and reinstall the drivers also seems to have an effect slightly but not sustainable.

I think that it's something in the config or the drivers between Win 7 and the keyboard, as I tried two of these keyboards and both do the same thing, so it's not a faulty keyboard.  I also switched out to another computer also running Win 7 Professional, 64-bit, and it comes up with that one as well.

In the end, I got back to the shabby old keyboard while the beautiful new sits on the plateau, that which is not exactly what was meant.  I tried to look through the diversity of the other questions people have had here with wireless keyboards and computers, but can not see responses that quite match my setup questions.  So, what to do next?

For possible interference, you can watch your router Wireless N +.  Wireless N can operate at 2.4 Ghz or 5 GHz.  Most of the brands end lower base 2.4 race, which is the same as the 5000 wireless set.  If your wireless network has the option of 5 Ghz, you might want to try it.  Also if you have a cordless phone that works at 2.4 it could cause problems.  I know not many people use wireless phones these days other than cell phones, but it could be a problem as well.

  • try to get the transmitter replacement for my wireless keyboard USB

I lost the USB transmitter/receiver for my wireless keyboard/mouse set, trying to find where I can get a replacement for him without having to get a new keyboard & mouse just for only a transmitter/receiver.

    Transmitter/receiver says "Microsoft 2.4 GHz transceiver v2.0"

    Thank you!

I talked with Microsoft today and, Yes, the person who answered said that there is NO replacement for the receiver, and I have to buy a new set upwards.  After asking to speak to someone who had technical knowledge and don't get any then I asked a supervisor.  I've been waiting for several minutes, but I wasn't going to give up.  Finally, an answered and after a supervisor explained that I knew something to computing, he offered to send me a brand new unit, for free.  And upward that broad, he said he could only make the order and it would ship me in 1-3 days.

The number I called is 800-360-7561, option 2.  Make sure you ask to speak to a supervisor, as people who respond do not have any idea.  They read just out of a script.  I hope this helps someone out there.  Microsoft wants to keep their ccustomers elements and will do what it takes to keep them.

  • 800 Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse

I have Windows 7 Pro OS. When I tried to install drivers and software after downloading from the Microsoft Web site, I got a "system error is not compatible, please check the system requirements" even if this device box comes indicates Windows 7 as one of the requirements of the system. Another requirement is 64-bit and my system is that. Microsoft product support has been completely impotent and useless. Called 3 times. First, the technician said that even if the requirements said Windows 7, which should include Windows 7 Pro but offered no other aid or assistance to install the drivers. Second time I have called, the technician told me exactly the opposite of the first, I might need a wireless device that was compatible with Windows 7 Pro a but have offered no other form of assistance. The third time I called, the technician has warned me to research and disconnected me after being on hold for 15 minutes.

    Hello Alex,.

Thanks for posting your question on the Forum of the Microsoft community. I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. However, I would like to know some more information to refine the question and provide you with better assistance.

    1. What is the brand and model number. the computer?
    2. Were they working before? If Yes, then you did important equipment or modifications to the software on the computer before this problem?

The question may arise if the old drivers are not compatible with the current version of Windows. So, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists:

    Method 1:

Please try running the next fixit and check if you are able to get the fixed number or get additional information about the error.

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows

If the problem persists, proceed to the next method.

    Method 2:

The question may arise due to a conflict with the third party software or any start-up program. I you suggest to clean boot of the system and then try to install the mouse and keyboard Center and the IntelliPoint software from the following links.

  • With the help of transmitter USB for keyboard and wireless mouse 3000 in Vista

a friend already has the Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000

and just purchased the Wireless Keyboard 3000 .

They both work w / USB 2.4 GHz transceivers, and they do not work OK using both of the receivers that accompanies the individual purchases.

I was wondering if it is possible to use a single USB transceiver for both devices instead of two... hoped that this would be the case because they are the two series "3000" operating in the same band.

Some hoped it would all just automatically connect, but no luck.  I can force it to use a two-way radio?

Thanks for any help / suggestions

    * original title - use Transceiver even for (2.4 GHz) wireless KB & mouse that were purchased separately? *

    Hi moonstruck67,

We cannot have the same transmitter/receiver for two wireless devices because it is not supported.

You need to do the same with wireless Bluetooth technology.

However, if you want to force the installation, try the following steps:

    i. Click Start

II. Type in devices and printers

    III. right-click on the transmitter/receiver

IV. If you have the opportunity to connect or sweeping, try the option and check if that helps.
