with WSN Vernier temperature probe?

Hello everyone. I have a hard time trying to get the sensor measures.

I created the thread here: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/steinhart-hart-with-vernier-thermistor/m-p/2811150

I think that now the formula is fine. So I realized, it could be that I chose the wrong node to work with probe thermistor based.

So now I took node voltage/resistance NI WSN-3226. I don't know how to wire properly. EX0, AI0, and GND.

Any help would be so awesome. Thank you

Nicely,

Poor Hello,

That's right - you get a voltage scale out, not a resistance value.  The manufacturer has provided additional information on the use of their probes with different here:

Vernier: Can I use BTA Vernier sensors with another of A - to-D converter?

http://www.Vernier.com/til/1952/?keyword=WRT-BTA

In addition, it seems that there are already example screws provided making this conversion voltage - to-resistance to-probe.  I have found these Vernier website with terms like "ELVIS", "BTA-vehicles" and "reduced the tension.

Vernier: Why is the temperature sensor read correctly with my NI ELVIS

http://www.Vernier.com/til/2925/?keyword=BTA-ELV

NI.com: Interfacing screw for Vernier biosensors (download of example provided at the top right)

http://www.NI.com/example/31019/en/

The VI "convert thermistor rdg" provided in the zip file seems to apply Ohm's law to determine the resistance of the thermistor of the acquired power, as you have noted.

As a note - all this information was already available on the Web site with a minimum of research NOR and Vernier.  It's probably a good thing to consolidate this information in a single thread/place so that future users have access to it (that's why I'm a link everything), but by doing some research on your own or contact the manufacturer directly could have you up and running last week!  In addition, you must be sure that you understand your sensor and conditioning circuit before using the computer, do not understand what is happening is a good way to end up with measurement errors.

In addition, you plan on leaving the WSN node attached to a Committee of ELVIS for the acquisition?

Best regards

  • z820: suspect z820 temperature probe causing one of the two processors to misbehave

I'm running a double z820, who became very strong.

I ran the HWMonitor and HP Performance Advisor for the diagnostics on the system and found some interesting things:

    1. The system thinks that CPU 1 is running at 92 degrees Celsius. And CPU 0 is on average about 35 ° C.  When I opened the case and check it out.  CPU 1 is actually cold to the touch.
    2. CPU 1 fan spin at about 4900, while CPU 0 fan is walking to 1100.
    3. Clock speed of the CPU 1 is locked to 1.1 Ghz.  CPU 0 is running to his good 3.5 GHZ

So my conclusion is that the system is badly interpret the CPU temperature, CPU 1 fan to hyperspeed and ratchet down the clock of the CPU speed to try to protect against overheating.

Oh, and if I'm not running something that causes the system to try and use all procs on two processors, the system stops.

Overall, I currently have a workstation hard, running barely answer half speed and intermittently closed - which is unproductive and boring.

-If my assessment is healthy, my question is: where to look to find the thermostat for CPU 1 so that I can either replace, or maybe the cable must simply be re-allocation of places.

    Any ideas would be fantastic.

    Problem solved.

When he does readings of high temperature in the material, or a MacBook battery low voltage readings, the kernel can try to compensate by interrupting the processor to slow them down and reduce energy consumption. This condition may be due to:

☞ an accumulation of dust on the logic board

    High ambient temperature ☞

☞ a defective battery or worn in a laptop

☞ the malfunction of a cooling fan, temperature probe, a probe or some other component voltage internal

Note that if the problem is caused by a sensor, there can be no real overheating or undervoltage.

If the computer is portable, try with and without the power adapter connected. If pigs kernel_task processor only on current alternative, load is causing the machine to heat up. This behavior may be normal for some models, but it can also be an indication of a hardware failure.

The software installed by the user which includes a device driver or other kernel code can thrash of the kernel. This category includes virtualization, such as Parallels and VMware software, as well as products 'anti-virus' more commercial. Some system monitoring applications, like "iStat", may also contribute to the problem. You can test this possibility to completely disable or remove the software according to the instructions of the developer or start in safe mode. However, it should be noted that the deactivation of a modification of the system without removing or test in safe mode is not as easy as you think.

  • PID control with big delay in the process variable

    Hello

My goal is to control the temperature via a valve and heat exchanger. I proceeded variable (temperature) measured from a hose. This temperature should be raised a few degrees with a heat exchanger. So basically I need to order a valve that allows the water to flow through the heat exchanger to raise the temperature to the desired level.

My original plan was to use a base PID regulation to operate the dispenser. However, it is about 0.5 to 1 minute of delay time in the temperature probe after I opened the valve, which increases the temperature. This leads to a situation where the PID regulation valve fully open during this period (trying to get the temperature rise). Then once the temperature begins to rise it fires quite quickly. PID begins turning the tap off almost immediately, but because of the time delay in the sensor, the temperature exceeds seriously. This led to severe oscillation and at worst unstable processes. I tried to adjust the PID control to "predict" the timer to close the valve in advance to minimize the excess, but failed.

I would appreciate if anyone has any ideas how to make this type of control with Labview PID functions. I also wonder if there is a better type of control procedure for this scenario as a PID control?

    -Lars

This is a very common situation in the heating control, and generally PID can be adjusted to make it work. How do you do the tuning? If you do it by trial and errors, you have little chance to succeed. For a slow process with time delay, I like to use the method Cohen Coons, or similar open Ziegler-Nichols-loop method. The idea is that you temporarily remove or disable the PID. Set the valve in a fixed position and wait for the temperature to stabilize. Then, change the setting of the valve and record temperature at regular intervals data until the temperature is stable again to a new value. Use these data to get the initial values of PID using the equations provided by the tuning method you choose.

  • The REPORT CYCLIQUE with myDAQ measure?

    Hi all

Sorry for my beginner question. Is it possible to measure the duty cycle with myDAQ? If Yes, could you give me some advice please how? I want to measure the temperature with temperature probe SMT 160-30 with duty cycle output.  I tried the analog and digital inputs. In the case of the analog input, there is a problem with zero amplitude (error). If I use entry digital then output is 0 and Boolean variable 1 and I don't know how to proceed with the determination of the duty cycle. I use DAQ assistant so I will gratefull for the solution with the DAQ assistant.

    Thank you very much

    Pavel

What you need to do, is to capture a waveform analog (PWM signal).  Then you perform a comparison on all data entered to see if it is greater than a threshold.  A typical threshold for a 5V signal is 2.5V.  That should translate into an array of Boolean.  Use then Boolean (0.1) followed by the average.  If you want a percentage, multiply by 100.

  • Blue screen on startup... problem with the display driver?

I have been using a Dell Inspiron 14R (N4110) laptop computer since 2010 without any problem.

The laptop was purchased online from Dell and came with

    (1) Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and

    2) AMD Radeon HD 6470 M - 1 GB display card.

Recently, I had a problem where my laptop just wouldn't start, showing the blue screen every time it tries to start. The blue screen mentions a problem with the file atikmpag.sys I understand is the driver for the AMD video card.

If I delete/rename the files atikmpag.sys and atikmdag.sys (via secure boot mode) in C:/windows/system32/drivers, the laptop (not) start, but obviously does not recognize the graphics card.

After a lot of unsuccessful trials debugging on mine (including trying to upgrade the drivers to display etc.)., I reinstalled the operating system and the drivers provided with the original kit (just to eliminate any possibility of an upgrade that went wrong). However, I still see the issue.

That means there is a hardware problem? or a BIOS problem?

    Thank you

    R.B.

Guys, the problem you describe is actually a hardware failure. There is nothing you can do except replace a motherboard for laptop, or taken some advanced technicians, COMPUTING which will replace or chip GPU reball.

I have the same a laptop similar (Inspiron N5110), with the same problems and these problems - all started yesterday. Do not waste your time, just reinstall OS, then install display drivers, which are available on the official site of Support of DELL and after that - if it's not working, just do what I said.

Generally these are consequences of an overheating laptop, but that it was certainly not my case (I did regular checks), I could even bet on chips quality GPU, which has been used in the manufacture of this model of laptop... again...

UPDATE: Okay, last night was a long night for me and I can confirm finally - who's * chip AMD, which causes the blue screen, you mentioned. I disassembled my N5110 faulty, armed with a heatgun, Probe temperature (probe) and tons of aluminium + some flow of brazing, I made a fairly quick reflow and the result is just what I expected - everything works perfectly again, with the same configuration - even with the same installation of Windows, which has been to launch these blue screens. There are now no blue screen at all and portable computer performance as new.

Apparently bad welding, when this laptop was manufactured, is the exact reason why we are where we are. The BGA chip was not dead at all (it was just poorly soldered). The same story, including HP and a bunch of other companies had some time ago with these NVIDIA chips (I know, some of you know what I'm talking about).

CONCLUSION: Integrated DELL diagnostic software is useless against the detection of defects with a discreet graphics AMD card. Problem was not in the software or drivers - it was just a poorly welded chip (I regularly cleaned my laptop dust, so overheating is not an option here).
