Without product key

Microsoft Word and Outlook are requires me to enter my product key to continue to use the products, even if I owned this computer and software for more than five years.  I can't find the CD with the touch pack # etc.  I have owned a business from my pc, but went bankrupt in 2008 and moved the pc of my residence thus losing these discs.  I would like to buy a new pc, but cannot afford it.  What should I do?

  • Change the product key to use COA OEM during the product upgrade

I found the kkid106 question "can I use a product key Windows 7 OEM to a retail facility.

But as it is not my particular case, I want to be sure and make the issue.

The question is on a clean install of Windows 7 Home Retail using Windows 7 OEM Home.  My case is not a clean install.

I have the following two scenarios:

Scenario 1. A computer with Windows XP Pro OEM who got the original damage.  I have an Image backup which I bring to a Destination with Windows 8 OEM computer.  I get a retail upgrade of Windows 8.  I restore the Image to the destination computer, and then upgrade old XP Pro OEM with retail upgrade to Windows 8.  Technically I find myself with a computer without a license since the upgrade come from an OEM from another computer.  Now, I change the product key by using the Destination COA OEM computer to make a licensed computer.

This scenario is correct.  Can I validate the license online or by phone?

Scenario 2. A computer with Windows XP Pro OEM who got the original damage.  I have an Image backup which I bring to a Destination with Windows 8 OEM computer.  I have an Upgrade download Windows 8 without product key.  I restore the Image to the destination computer, and then upgrade old XP Pro OEM upgrade download to Windows 8.  I find myself with a computer without a license, because the upgrade is unlicensed and comes from an OEM from another computer.  Now, I change the product key by using the Destination COA OEM computer to make a licensed computer.

This scenario is correct.  Can I validate the license online or by phone?

  • How to fix my vista computer? I can not even log in... I need to reformat the drive, but I don't have a product key number to do so.

OK, so I bought a laptop from a garage sale for like a goat. good good deal? No, I need a computer for my needs college and I couldn't get one. well AnyWho I try to put in work and it says hard drive failure. Well, I got this old vista ultimate cd with it but no product key. I can't even connect you to download programs or to make a diagnosis. It gives me the possibility to use the command prompt, which I am not good at or to do a reinstall of system image recovery of the system with a cd (ive got to work best) but I need to get a product key for it. and I really don't want to pay anything else because im really broken. If you can help, tha would be great.

It hardware failure of s then you should consider store tech. If you reinstall vista you will be able to use 3 months without product key

  • Win Vista Home Basic product key is not valid

I bought Vista Home Basic a wile ago. Now I've updated it. I want to reformat my PC, so I insert the DVD of Vista, and when I enter my product key I get the message "the key is incorrect. How can I fix it, I need to remove the updates or something?

    Hi cheater39,

If you reinstall Vista you will have to update any new. If the operating system works very well, so it is useless to re - install in order to re - install. Once, re - install if you have multiple problems that can easily be corrected, and then reinstall is a "last" resort option

You say you bought Vista Home Basic. I suppose, therefore, that you went into a store and bought a full retail copy? If so, the product key number is on the case. If you bought it from another source, for example, Internet, ebay etc (except direct from Microsoft) then you know that it's a genuine product key and not a copy hacked?

It is in fact a copy of 'upgrade '? If so you need to install your "old" operating system first, for example, Windows XP and upgrade then.

Check and recheck the code product key that you insert. If it continues to say the key is not valid, resume the DVD in the store that you bought it and ask them to check it for you. You can also contact the Microsoft Customer service in your own country - you should find one address number and/or e-mail on the Microsoft Web site.

You can actually install Vista without product key by simply letting the dialog box empty product key and then pressing the next button. A message will appear in which you must press the No button. A list of the versions of Vista should then appear. Select the version that you have, for example, Vista Home Basic, press Next, then it should install. No you get away without putting the product key in. Although Windows Vista has been installed it works for a while, but it would give you time, we hope, sort out the product key number. After that the time scheduled (30 days I think) you will need to enter the correct product key otherwise Vista will simply stop working. This option is not ideal, but it will give you as small period of "grace." If you cannot sort the product key on or, heaven forbid, you ended up buying a pirated copy, you will have no real alternative but to buy another legitimate copy.

I suggest you use my last suggestion as a "last resort" option Try to install on another machine to see if the product key works, or taking it back to the shop and ask them why it won't install.

  • Windows 7 product key/reinstall

    Double post

    Dell Windows 7 restore factory

I am probably stupid, but I just tried a factory restore on a Dell with Windows 7 laptop and only drive C - no D drive.

When you are prompted to make the backup of the DellSave, he registered only the C drive, so I clicked it and I continued.
I think I should have an external hard drive to store files on so that the restoration of the factory has done it's 'thing '.
He had completed the back upward (took forever) and then continued on with the factory restore on my clicking on the button 'next' to complete the process.

From now on, I have a checkbox to "format your partition" and a winding permanently thingie circle to "Reinstall your selected system backup" - which indicates that it works.
It has been at least 3 hours now and it is 1%. For a long time, this is 0%. Progress?

The only thing I can do now is to wait, I plan to let continue all night.
If it is always to 1 per cent in the AM - so what? Can I turn off the computer and start again, or my C drive is already formatted? If so, I'm toast!
If he could not run the factory restore the way I did it, he should not tell me and invite me to connect a separate drive for storage? I think that it would not allow me to do it wrong - wouldn't it?
Help! Please let me know what to do.

I think my daughter's cell phone is toast. She got a virus and nothing has worked. We tried a factory image recovery, but it turns out that she has drive C and no disc, no D drive, no backup copy.
It has Windows 7 family on a Dell laptop and its guarantee (as near as I can tell) has expired in May. I can get a copy of Windows 7 Pro (without product key) and I need to know if the product key on her laptop for Windows 7 Home works for Windows 7 Pro.
    Help, please!
    Thank you
    Bill

No, it won't, product keys are specific version.
