WLC 802. 11A / n Radio regulatory domain question

Dear all

We are facing a problem with a customer where a Cisco 4400 Series controller blocks the 802. 11A / n Radio Interface of 1250 access point. Radio broadcasts like down on the controller to GUI. The error message on the GUI, it's that the "regulatory area" is not supported. This can be seen on the attached screenshot. Also the relevant parts of the WLC configs are attached.

WLC: Cisco 4402 wireless
WLC country: SA
Device: Cisco Lightweight Access Point 1250 (LAP) is controlled by the Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) 4402
The version of operating system of the TOWER: c1250-k9w8 - mx.124 - 18A .JA version of the WLC: 5.2.178.0 software Version

The problem is that the controller which shows the 802. 11A / n Interface Radio in Radio Slot # 1 is still unavailable, the client was trying to manually "nonstop" interface of the PA of the console and it worked, but of course this solution would not work as the configuration cannot be saved (LW AP).

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello:

The only suggestion I can offer is to try the latest driver directly from Mediatek (Ralink).

I had the same problem with the USB dual band Ralink wireless adapter.

He showed only the 2.4 GHz band, and I knew it was a dual-band card.

My first conclusion is that the adapter was defective and only 2.4 GHz radio worked.

I searched on the internet about the adapter model and found that someone suggested to install the latest driver for Ralink for it that has indeed brought the 5.0 Ghz band to life.

Don't say this is absolutely going to work for you, but you have nothing to lose by giving it a try.

Hello! My AirPort Express (802.11a/b/g) lights no more. I think he lost his power. What should I do to restore its power?

If AirPort Express light does not illuminate, this indicates that the internal power supply inside the Express did not, and the device will need to be replaced.

If you really a 802.11a/b/g in the Express version, it is at least 8 years old and probably much older than that.  Average life of this product was about 3-4 years, then you have had surprisingly good luck with your product.

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01035677.PDF

Chapter 3 lists all cards supported wireless. I see no support for wireless since any N cards.

I don't see the BIOS updates that add support for any model of card N Wireless either.

Installation a unsupported card will cause the laptop does not cranking up what the card does not support is removed.

  • WLC use Management Interface & more get started Questions

    Hello

I am yet to implement Wireless LAN in one seat of our customers. There are 40 x 1130AG LWAPP AP and WLC 4404 with ACS 4.x for authentication of Wireless Clients attempting to access the LAN.

For the WLC to connect to the Dual Core Switch, I need to use only a Management Interface with port 1 being the main and mapping Distribution system the DS 2 Port as the backup for the Management Interface port. Is this correct? or can I have configure dynamic Interfaces as well. Is the interface of access management / management and configuration only? Management interface will communicate with ACS for AAA and AP who wish to associate with the WLC, is this true?

Note: WLC, AP, Wireless customers & AP are in the same IP subnet.

Some other question of WLAN is so it helps me during the implementation.

Can • I use the 802. 1 x authentication applications saved in Windows XP for the Wireless Interface; instead of the Client Application from Cisco. For this purpose; I have to configure the WLC / Wireless Client use EAP algorithm; is that correct?

    • With the help of MRR, interference between of multiple (3-4 AP) AP in the same area is controlled by the WLC by changing the channels used by the AP, that isn't even on of the AP is it good?

    • How many users Client will connect by channels. 802.11 a / g will provide 11 channels, it is right?

    • I'm putting in the WLC to limit client connections by AP to 25, can this be achieved?

Please, can someone help me calrifying the points above.

    Kind regards

    Keshava Raju

Unless this has changed recently, you can't. The ports must be then break into individual groups. You can the controller mode layer 3 as Cisco is the support Layer 2 stop. The Director of the PA is necessary in all cases in LWAPP layer 3 transport mode. Do a search on Cisco.com to the configuration guide for the version of the code you are running. This will give you a step by step installation instructions.

  • 802.1 x multiple multi-domain-workstation

    Hello

I configured successfully my switch for 802. 1 x with multichannel-domain name. The IP phone and the workstation is assigned to ther VLAN respective. My problem is when I connect a sepearet hub to a switch port with several workstations connected to the hub. I can't get a mac address to access the network. The following features are limited to have the connection.

Is there a configuration that I can apply to change the default behavior to allow only a unique mac address by domain on the switch port?

    Thank you

Well, you can use the multiple-authentication mode.

Multiple authentication mode (multiauth) allows a customer on the voice VLAN and several clients authenticated on the data VLAN. When a hub or access point is connected to an 802. 1 x enabled authentication mode multiple port provides enhanced security mode multiple-host by requiring authentication of each connected client. For non - 802.1 x devices, you can use the web authentication or authentication MAC workaround as the fallback for individual host authentication method authenticate different hosts via different methods on a single port.

Multiple authentication mode is limited to eight authentications (hosts) per port.

Multiple authentication mode also supports the MDA functionality on the voice VLAN by assigning authenticated devices either a data or voice VLAN, depending on the authentication server received VSA attributes.

VERY IMPORTANT: When a port is in multiple authentication mode, all features of assignment VLAN, including the assignment provided RADIUS server the VLAN, VLAN Guest, the Inaccessible authentication bypass road and authentication failed VLAN do not activate.

    Here are the configuration commands:

  • I just got a connection... specifically for Internet Radio. The question please...

Well, there firmware 1.01.27236r and internet radio works fine.  I am aware of the limits of the microSD card and the fact that it has no video.  I agree with that.  My question is: if I run the recovery tool such that published in this forum and the upgrade, the connection will be able to connect to a WiFi network that is not broadcasting the SSID?

    Thank you

Well, I'll answer my own question.  I have developed an attitude of "just do it" pending a response.

YES.  Update the firmware to the latest version of WiFi allows to SEE and to connect to hidden networks.

I guess that all of you here already knew it, and I thought that this was the case, but I wanted to just answer.

P.S. the update of the firmware was super simple by following all the instructions posted here.  Thank you!

  • 802.11A/n/AC vs b/g/n

    Hello

I want to use the fast wireless channel (who can see only some computers) only for the desktop with wireless adapters and more slow single band n for printers and mobile devices etc. However, every time I activate the slower 802.11b/g/n network, all devices that connect to the slower network and no device connects to the network fast 300 Mbps. I use the newer cards (laptops or adapters Linksys or ASUS 450 Mbps PCI-e adapters), so there shouldn't be any problem concerning those.

Is it possible that I can assure you that computers with maps to the right only connect to the network fast dual-band 802.11n?

    Thank you!

    Tibet

PS: The Distance is not a problem, there is an access point literally almost all computers!

    Hi Tibet,

I could not find the wireless card properties to use 5GHz, so if you could find a solution as I wrote above, that would be great.

If you use windows OS, you can then configure your wireless NETWORK card to prefer more 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz. Here's how you set it on windows 7 ( Control Panel-> Internet network & -> network-> Wireless Network Connection-> properties connection [right click] -> sets-> Advanced-> band preferably)

  • Compaq 6715 b - upgrade to 802.11a/b/g/n or/AC

I understand that I must pay attention to what network adapter I chose for this laptop (Compaq 6715 b, Win7) olde, but I have a nice 802.11ac new router and I would get this box using the pref/AC or less 802.11n.

    The current adapter is reported as PCI\VEN_14E4 & DEV_4312 & SUBSYS_1371103C & REV_02 (Broadcom Wireless 54bg,

    Broadcom wireless 1490 (dell))

Which, if any, the adapter may seek this gearbox?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h20628.www2.HP.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c02834030-1.PDF

The only available for your model Wireless N card is the Broadcom adapter of abgn with the reference number used in the country where you live - 441530-001 or 002-441530.  (Chapter 3, p. 29-30).

You can install a wireless card for your model (not the 6710 (b) and it must have the part number HP on it or it won't work.

My recommendation is to do a search by the part number HP on eBay and get an opportunity but tested and functional.

I have a Home Premium HP Windows Vista 32 bit I bought about 7 years ago... only the computer that I have... always works pretty well... well that slow and slow, but only on wifi. Shouldn't have came to me since I bought it?

    Hello

Say you the computer; Wireless normally comes with laptops, unless you buy a USB Dongle wireless or Wireless PCI Card for your desktop.

Get the drivers of the computer/laptop or a hardware manufacturer directly.

Here is a link to the page of the HP driver.

Enter your model number and then select the operating system to the appropriate drivers and latest.

    1. Subnet separated, gets dhcp from the AP.   Yes, this could be done, just need to configure a scope on the AP, may support ip take for IP of the AP management.
    2. No configuration of the DMZ on the firewall.  Don't necessarily need the DMZ, but you'll have to leave the new subnet to cross
    3. No access to other subnets, internet only.  not a problem, ACL to the L3 device.

  • Adjustment of the regulatory field of wlc and APs

We have 5 APs is currently working on the regulatory field C. We add 5 APs more and a WLC who came in another regulatory area as directed by my boss, he said, it's H.

Will there be problems operating in 2 different areas?

What can I do to make each APs and controller in the same domain?

    Help, please.

    Hello

Refer to this document for more details on the regulatory areas

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/access-points/product_data_sheet0900aecd80537b6a.html

What country deploy you this AP, I hope it's in China (according to the doc, above). As long as the country code is set to WLC, you should be fine.

Will there be issues operating in 2 different domains?
If you configure two different country codes belong to two different regulatory domains (like Europe & America), then available channel & power limited to a lower common level. In your case, I don't think that you configure countries in conflict on your WLCs. HTH Rasika * Pls note all useful responses *.
