  • Open a new window when linking between PDF docs (link originates in a Word doc)

    Hello

I saw this discussed historically general topic, but couldn't find any resolution.  I have a Word doc (let's call it A.doc) linking to a PDF doc (let's call it b.pdf). Once I have convert Word doc to PDF (A.pdf creation), I want the link en.pdf to open b.pdf in a new window.

I've seen a number of suggestions that indicate that I can set up the link in Word to do this, use her change the hyperlink > target frame > frame target > 'new window '.  While this works if I click on the link in Word, it does seem to "reporter" once I converted A.doc to A.pdf.  When I click the link en.pdf then B.pdf opens in the same window in time.

I know how to add manually link in Acrobat.pdf to do this, but I don't want you add manually the link every time I create A.pdf.  I want to create the link once in A.doc and did delay in time, and then open the b.pdf link in a new window.

I've seen suggestions on adding some HTML somewhere.  Unfortunately, they are not, that I'm viewing the PDF files in a browser.

I saw suggestions for using the CTRL key at the same time click on the link en.pdf.  Would not be practical, because I have no way to make sure that my users will know it.

I've seen suggestions on the use of JavaScript, but it would mean (I know) I have to add the JavaScript whenever I convert A.doc A.pdf.  Still, I won't have to do any post-processing of A.pdf after I got it to create.  I want the link in 'just work' A.doc after A.pdf is created, i.e. open b.pdf in a new window.

This * seems * like a simple thing to do, I hope there is a simple solution.

BTW, I'm using Word 2007 and Acrobat X.

    Thanks for your help!

    Dave

I use Word 2003 and Acrobat 10 and links created as you describe defaults to 'new window '.

You have the 'Open links in the same interdocument window' unchecked in Edit > Preferences > Documents?

.. sounds too easy... (and your users will probably have to make the change even if they need this behavior, unless you have a very techno IT department that can deploy configuration files large company).

    original title: lost document

I got a new open word doc and is logged when Windows Vista did an update automatically and restart, now I seem to have lost! Any suggestions? A system restore wouldn't work?

If you have not saved the document before the reboot - and Windows always give a lot of warning before restarting automatically - while the file disappeared.  There is no way to recover; System Restore does apply to system files, not data.

  • ? How can I work on my MacBook Word Docs on my iPad?

I just bought an iPad because I'll be traveling abroad and will not take my MacBook Pro with me since it is my main computer. I used Word for my teaching documents. I bought an iPad, so I can work on them while traveling. The Apple seller assured me that this would not be a problem. However, I can't figure out how to get my Word Docs on the iCloud MacBook in order to access it from my iPad. I have read several posts on the forum, but I have still not found the answer probably because they are dated. It said, for example, save my Word Docs in the Section "Documents and data" icloud. But I didn't not just on mine. I just did the last software update on my MacBook Pro and just bought my iPad last Friday.

I would really appreciate help on this. I want to return my iPad in the period of 14 days full refund if it in fact that is impossible, because this is the reason why I bought the iPad.

    Thank you :-)

Don't know if you're aware, but if you use Word on the MacBook and iPad, you can either save in iCloud or OneDrive. As you use Microsoft Word, you will find easier to use Microsoft OneDrive - but their isn't a huge difference and either will work.

If you use Microsoft Office for Mac 2016 on the MacBook, you can save on OneDrive by clicking "Online sites" in the file menu in Word to save the window. If you want to save on iCloud you must make sure that the menu Apple > System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud unit is running. It's also a good idea to go in the Finder preferences > sidebar and put a checkmark in front of iCloud Drive in the Favorites section of this window. When you save a document in Word 2016 on your Mac, you can then click iCloud Drive in the side bar of the Finder window and save on iCloud drive.

I was working on a microsoft word doc and all of a sudden all paragraph marks and points between each word that presented themselves.  How can I get rid of these?

You click the Show/Hide in the Standard toolbar.  The location of this button may vary depending on the version of Word that you have (that you did not state).  Click the button again to make the marks disappear.

  • I tried to open a Word doc attachment in my email and get a window stating "Creating an Adobe PDF file"

When I try to open an attachment in my email Word doc I get a dialog box saying "Create Adobe PDF, PDFMaker missing files, you want to run the installer in repair mode?"   I tried not to convert a word in a PDF doc daughter.  I just tried to open the word document.  The next window that appears is the Adobe Acrobat window.  If I want to open a word doc file that I received in my email I first have to register the word doc on my desk open my program Word, then drag the Word doc recorded from my office to the document that is open in Word. program.  It started just in the last few months.  Never happened before.  What is happening here?

Apparently, you tried to open a DOC file to PDF quite awhile, and your system is confused. In any case, go to a DOC or DOCX file (or both) in the Windows Explorer and right click. Select open with and select WORD - always check open with button.

Check that the other WORD documents open correctly from the Explorer. Try again your e-mail address. If e-mail is not fixed, then look in the list of applications in your email inbox (some do) and fix the problem here. It might also be useful by turning on the display of extensions in Explorer, so you can see that a file is in fact a word with the appropriate extension. (just try to cover as many opportunities as possible now).

  • Digital signature of an Office Word .doc

    Hello

    I wan't to sign a word doc.
I have two options (or more...):

    (1) read the document with the help of"org.apache.poi" sign and then I like.
    (2) use the built in features of Word.

Is anyone know what algorithms are used in option 2)?
    is 2) crypto wise?
    What is the best approach?
    are there other approaches?

    Thank you.

I do not use Microsoft Office (don't know why someone would when OpenOffice does everything that 98% of the cares of the world all in a word processor, free of charge, on multiple platforms), so I can't speak for how it digitally signs documents internally.

The benefits of working with the Word-specific signature feature is that the document can be stored/retrieved as a regular Word document, and also long the extractor use a compatible version of the word processor, they will be able to verify the signature inside the word; without special tools. As all MS products tend to use the keystore CAPI/CNG in the Windows operating system, all the key-points forts/algorithms available in a Windows version should be available within Word for the signature feature.

However, if you need to send the signed document to anyone on a non-Windows platform, or have the signed document verified on incompatible Word versions, you cannot use the features of signature specific to Word.

What you should use is XMLSignature (http://www.w3.org/TR/xmldsig-core/).

XMLSignature will let you take any document - binary or text - digitally sign and send the XML document from any application or platform where a XMLSignature library is available and post the document. You can do it from the command line, GUI or middle of the jet within a business process. You have not even need to open the document processor to validate his signature; You can validate the XML signature while dealing with the XML stream.

XMLSignature is supported on all major operating systems as open source. It is also a standard component of Windows. It is available in JDK6 as a standard component, and is also the native in OpenOffice signature mechanism - which means that OO-signed documents can be signed on Windows, Linux, OS X, or UNIX and verified on Windows, Linux, OS X, or UNIX right in OpenOffice or using libraries of XMLSignature.

  • How can I embed fonts in MS Word doc sent to somene

Hi all.  I installed and used a font that I downloaded on the Internet.  Everything is good.  Documents look great, and normally I create PDF files from Word documents.  But, when I send a Word Doc (not PDF) that has my custom font (Ubuntu, it's the police anyone is wondering) is not "coming through" to the recipient.  End result is that the recipient opens the Doc they can't read the text.  I had described me as looking like a cursive, but unreadable font.

    El Capitan

    Word for Mac 15.22.1

I saw something "Save using an embedded font" and a checkbox when registering, but I don't see that in my version of Word for Mac.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks a ton.

Word does not incorporate fonts. You will need to send it with the document, or save it in PDF format and send that.

  • Cannot find Word doc that has been saved as an attachment

I myself have sent an e-mail with a word doc attached.  Opened in Word 2007, make the changes and click "Save" (not "save under").  Seems to be working, no error message from the word and no warning when you quit word.  Now ICAN can't find the document anywhere on the computer.  Even tried looking for a keyword within the document and only found the original version, attached to the email.

If the file was really saved, where is he?

His loss.  You must save an attachment of office and then work on it.  WinMail is not an office application, so it does not allow to edit attachments, you must first save it.

  • Link to attached WORD Doc.

    Hello

I have attached a word inside my pdf doc with acrobat. I am trying to create a link to the attached doc, but every time I open the word doc to "set the link" the button "set link" disappears.

I have no problem to link to a pdf attached by using this method, but the word seems to be a problem. What I am doing wrong?

You can only link to an attached file that is not a PDF file using a script like this:

    this.exportDataObject ({cName: "AttachedFileName.doc", nLaunch: 2});

  • Why use Acrobat/PDF to MS Word/DOC?

    Hello fellow forum people.

Recently I was in charge, at work, with the creation of a form with tips for each field. Not too hard, I know. But when I mentioned that I had to use a PDF I was asked why I wasn't going to do a MS Word DOC.

In addition to the wise design benefits (I'm a designer), I was trying to think of a better reason to use a PDF file. Advice or suggestions on what I could use to them depart for another brute DOC? Or is the way to go here - DOC? Discuss?

    Thanks for your comments.

I'm sure others will be smart with comments, but lets try to remember why PDF files have been developed in the first place. Just think what that means PDF: Portable Document Format. As long as you embed fonts in a PDF file, it will look the same on any computer, it is open, be it Mac, Windows, either and any version of the operating system. There is also the fact that you can add security features. So PDF files were NOT intended to be changed in order to make sure the file you send do not be falsified.

And also, many Mac people don't have Microsoft Word installed on their computer. but, if you do not have Acrobat, you can always download Adobe Reader for FREE.

PDF files can also be accessed in Internet browsers, and is more easily transferable by e-mail and FTP because it is a compressed file format.

  • Page Word doc and docx conversion

I use a portable MacPro OS X 10.9.5 with Pages 5.2.2. When I convert to Word doc or docx, the copy becomes a hyphen, although he was not in the Pages. When I try to remove the hyphens, the document converted Pages. How can I avoid this?  I don't want to update my software because I have my previous files become inaccessible.

When you export to Word.doc/.docx leave v5.2.2 Pages, what exactly Gets a hyphen? Pages is not a clone of Word, and export to Word is a translation process for which Apple offers absolutely no guarantee of accuracy.

Pages v5.2.2 is the last version compatible with the Mavericks. Pages ' 09 v4.3 still work on El Capitan. What are the previous files?
