WRT54G2 v1

I have a Linksys WRT54G2 V1 wireless router. My router works fine and I have the latest version which is Version 1.0.04)is Build 5. I would like to know if I can download and install updates of firmware to WRT54G2 V1.5?

Never try to update firmware of the router with the different version... It can damage the router. If you facing any problem then, try to reflash the firmware with the same version of firmware.

Even if I select Hardware version 1.0, the name of the file is: FW_WRT54Gv4_4.21.5.000_20120220.bin. The file name to specify Hardware version 1.0. Could it be the problem?

The error message I receive after hit the upgrade button is: upgrade are failed! I used Firefox and Chrome and the same error message. • Server error internal 500 WRT54G2

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my router WRT54G2. I was upgrading my firmware when my computer froze, so I had to leave. Afterwards, I couldn't connect to the configuration based on the web page more. I did a factory reset and installed again with Network Magic and configure my wireless key. It works now, however, I can't in the web-based configuration page. Whenever I go to 192.168.1.1 and enter my info, it says only: 500 Internal Server Error. I've always been able to access this page, now I can't, then I guess it doesn't work because of the firmware upgrade interruption. I do a lot of mac filtering and I limit the amount of IP addresses my router gives so if someone hacks my security key, they still won't be able to connect, so to access my router configuration page is important to me. I have reset (press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds - 1 minute) the router several times and still nothing. I mean, the router still works. My brother and I can always connect with our mobile phones, I can't get to the web-based configuration page.

-What can I do to solve this problem or did I mess up irretrievably? Thank you.

    A few suggestions...

Is first of all try to find the IP address of your router and see if she is still set to 192.168.1.1 through the command prompt. Then try to ping for the address.

If you are able to ping, another 30 seconds and then reset flash the firmware on the router using TFTP. Download it here. Instructions here.

If you are unable to ping it or the TFTP does not work, do a 30-30-30 reset. Instructions here.

If these don't work, I'm ideas. Finally, you really don't need to put in place the MAC filtering because it's somehow more usable with spoof of MAC address. You would probably find that suggested on forums countless times, but just put a good passphrase WPA2 and're you good to go. If someone is good, enough to hack your WPA2 key (which is currently almost impossible), while he would have no problem getting your MAC filter.

  • no error message Internet with linksys wrt54g2 v1 router

    Hello

I connected my linksys wrt54g2 v1 connect to the LAN router and the WiFi worked perfectly well. Two days there was a problem with the connection to the local network and finally he solved. Now when I connect my router wireless to the LAN, the ssid is listed and when I connect to the WI - FI connection, see an error message saying "no internet access. Could someone help me solve this problem?

Note: I have reset the router and changed the necessary configurations, but it still does not work.

    Thank you!

Hi varun_umesh. It is obvious that the router is no longer communicates with the modem. Try to power cycle first two devices. Once the power supply light is good on the modem and the router, check again if the internet works on your devices. If not, these links will be able to help you to reconfigure the router.

I just upgraded from my old WRT54G2 to the E2500 yesterday.  Everything works (internet, wireless, etc.).  However, the new router is unable to see my Canon Copier/printer, which I connected via an ethernet cable.

He connected very well with the old router in the same configuration.  Would appreciate some ideas on what could be the issue.  I have a feeling that it is something simple that I think not.

    Thank you.

Ok. He was happy. Have fun.

  • WRT54G2 wireless router disconnects randomly

I have a Linksys router and a modem provided by Charter Communications WRT54G2. Sometimes when I'm on the internet or someone is playing games online, the connection will be randomly fizzle out for half an hour at some of them. It says its connected and reset the router doesn't fix it. We must just sit and wait. Is there something wrong with the router? How can I solve this problem?

If your account intermittent connection, try updating the firmware on the router first, then check the connection.

    1. go to www.linksys.com/downloads

    2. type in the model number of your router

    3. choose Get downloads

    4. Select the Version of your router device

Under the router next to the model number: WRT54G2 v1

    5. then download the firmware on your router

    6. Access UI

    7 return to the Administration

    8. Select Firmware update

  • WRT54G2 router and printer Canon MF

I have a WRT54G2 router connected to the modem DSL from Verizon.  The router is connected to the laptop dock via ethernet, and network connectivity in the dock and grace wireless is perfectly fine.  I set up WEP security, and it was OK.  Operating system is Windows XP Pro.

I recently bought a Canon MF 4370DN network printer/fax/scanner and plugged into the router with an ethernet cable.  I have hard coded a 192.168.x.x IP address in the printer, installed the drivers and set up the printer on the laptop to print via a TCP/IP port.  The first installation has worked well, and first of all, I had no problem printing or scanning through the network.

The problem is that the connection between the printer and the laptop falls repeatedly, if the laptop is connected or not.  This can be corrected temporarily by turning the printer on and for the duration of the session, all functions, including printing work very well.  But if the laptop is turned off and later started, the connection is lost, until the printer is recycled.

The printer also has a USB port and I think the simple creation of an additional USB connection between the printer and the dock, but I wonder why the connection through the router guard get lost.  Any ideas?

    Thank you

    dvepaul

The laptop is always connected to the wireless network when the connection between the printer and the laptop is lost?

If you have no any connection problem with your router, I guess it's either your printer or your laptop...

You should try to uninstall the printer drivers, reboot the PC and install the printer costs, see if that makes a difference... If there are any updated drivers for your printer, try using those...

  • I need to reconfigure my WRT54G2 to work with Comcast Cable Modem - please help!

She says it's the only place where I can get help, at least I have pay $39,99 help. My router worked fine. Comcast has made updates and now it will not work. If I connect the modem cable to the laptop, the internet works fine.

It's the router. She said I have to reconfigure. I tried to look on the site by typing in the 192.168.1.1 thing and the "admin" password is not correct.

My cable modem is Motorola SB5120. My linksys is WRT54G2 V1

Please tell me how to reconfigure this works! We are working on the House and it is a huge obstacle for us not having wireless internet

Hello Mominct! I'm glad that the wired connection works already. This means that the router has been able to get an IP from the modem already. Simply configure the settings wireless for the laptop to work.

    Here's what to do:

    1. open http://192.168.2.1 the router page and use admin for the password.

    2. go in the tab set the Configuration Manual wireless wireless. Change the SSID of "linksys" to any name you want, allow the broadcast of the SSID, then click on save settings.

    3. go to the wireless security sub tab, set the Security Mode WPA-Personal, enter a password (it must be at least 8 characters), then click on save settings. It will then be your password wireless. If you want to leave the unsecured network, simply left off wireless security.

That's all. Hoping for the best!

  • WRT54G2 V1 wireless only mode?

    Hello

I was wondering if I can put this wireless router from linksys wrt54g2 v1 wireless only.

    Muriel

In this case you can simply change the WRT54G2 for IP 192.168.1.2 and disable DHCP.  Implement your SSID and what ever wireless security you need.  Then you can connect it to your router with a cat5e cable to ports numbered on the WRT54G2 wired.  That would make her a simple access point.

Here is a LINK that will show you step by step on how to do it.

  • I can link a WRT54G2 V1 to a Zyxel P-660HN51 and it will give me better wireless then?

    Hello

We received a new modem/router to our ISP. It's the Zyxel P-660HN51 and I wanted to know if my WRT54G2 V1 router connection, would be better for home wireless? Expand it wireless? I think I can, but have no idea how to. I'm pretty good with computers and would need to do. Can anyone provide information on obtaining as a result?

    Thank you!

    Cindy

Hello DoUReFUNd. The WRT54G2 V1 allows you to extend your wireless network if you cascade with your modem/router. You can mount cascade it as an access point (LAN to LAN configuration) or a secondary router (LAN WAN Configuration). Caveat however, you will get only the G wireless signals of your WRT54G2 V1 router instead of on the P-660HN51 N Wireless signals. For the router cascade, here is a link for reference: cascade or connect a router to another Linksys router

  • WRT54G2 Dropping connection with active Access Restrictions

Recently, we have replaced Nano from my 13 years with a key, which means that it can now access the internet from (almost) anywhere in the House.  So I did some research and found the WRT54G2 of Access Restrictions.

I got the WRT54G2 for 5 years, and it has been extremely reliable.  I'm a programmer (although, ironically, not necessarily PC-savvy!) who works full time at home, and I have no problem with the network.  But now that I have implemented Access Restrictions, he abandoned his connection once or twice a day.  So it falls, it becomes quite slow.  Once it comes down, I unplug the router, wait 60 seconds and plug back in.  Then everything works again.

I found no other people (in the forums) mention the same problem, but I hope someone can help out me.

    Access restrictions are the following:

    • Status: activate
    • Change the list of PC: IP range 01:2 ~ 254
    • Days: every day
    • Opening hours: 24 hours
    • Blocked Services: NO
    • Blocking of the website with URL: white
    • Blocking of the site by keyword: naked, nude, etc...

I have 3 polciies due to the number of keywords I am trying to block, given that each policy allows only 6 keywords.  Policies are all set to the top in the same way except, of course, the key words.

The WRT54G2 is model V1, and the version of the firmware is 1.0.01.   The upgrade of the firmware help?  Download from Linksys for model 1.0 page, says "no available firmware/driver download.

Access restrictions, "IP Range 01" should be in 100 ~ 149 instead of 2 ~ 254?  I am train to restrict our family office, my laptop, iPad and keys - anything in the House with internet access.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, I think that any other additional filtering that by default will slow down most any router. It is probably more problematic for wrt54g2 because if it is little CPU and memory.

I guess you can try to reset to the default values and reconfigure him from scratch. But still, I don't think that the wrt54g2 has a very large CPU that can handle a large number of filtering.

Maybe try a solution like Norton DNS DNS? Or open DNS? Instead of access restrictions. I don't know, I'm not real experienced with access or parental control restrictions.

  • Connecting two routers WRT54G2 to extend the signal

I have available two routers wireless broadband Linksys G (WRT54G2), given to me by a family member. We use one of the routers by itself for some time, but have no adequate signal throughout our House. I decided it would be easier to design the floor plan of the House for you to see his situation compared with the rest of the House on the walls that do not. We have the HughesNet satellite internet which is on the roof just about the location of the modem and router at the bottom right of the image.

What do you think would be the best location of the main router? I read it would be more centrally located, because the signal travels horizontally and vertically. I just bought a 100' Ethernet cable being the only one that we had what the HughesNet Installer provided us with which is about 4'. I initially thought I would be the cable from main router to the basement where the second router is placed since the signal there is about 1 in 3 bars on my iPhone. The signal on the floor in the ranges of the main room (room at the top in the middle of the image) of 3-5 off 5 bars on my laptop.

I wanted to just put a post sooner rather than later to see what your views were on the location of the main router and I have to increase the signal.

Let me know if you have any questions to a better response.

I have updated the firmware on the main router.

If you want to configure the router as an access point 2 then the connection will be LAN to LAN which means the LAN port of the router port main o the 2nd router's LAN... But before you connect to the main router.

You should first connect the 2nd router to your laptop, go to the configuration page. Configure wireless settings it is firstly, ethier you set up another name and password is all up to you. Then change the IP address to a number of 192.168.1.x(any fera l'affaire) and disable DHCP... then after that connect to the main router.

  • random disconnections for my wrt54g2 V1 router

This had happened for a few months and I didn't really mind until it disconnects worsen.

usually, when I turn on the router and started using the internet, it randomly disconnects once. My Wireless SSID will disappear and loss of the connection. and no matter how I update the SSID will not yet be released.

the only way to regain internet access is to re - feeding on the router, if the SSID will be broadcast again.

My wrt54g2 V1 router had recently upgraded to the latest firmware version, 1.0.04)is.  but still disconnects as usual.

However the disconnects happen only once, after u re - turn on the router, you will not cut again.

but after turning off my laptop and use it again a few hours later, the same thing happens again, a random disconnection and got to re - feeding on the router...

can someone help me on how to stop the disconnection of the router?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

Try the following settings as well as in the router for wireless connectivity:

    # Open the browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 which will open the router configuration page.

    # Bring back the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) of 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on the main page / basic configuration of your router). Here is the link to determine and implement the right size MTU: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=fbf8e8564632422eaa8ea80bf9dcba64_386.xml&pid=80&re...

    # Click on wireless tab select the channel wireless at 6, 9 and 11. Click on save settings.

    Settings wireless #Adjust the following:

    ~ ~ Reduced from 100 to 75 beacon interval

~ ~ Lower the threshold of fragmentation of 2346 to 2306

    ~ ~ Lower 2347 to 2307 RTS threshold

Then reconnect to the wireless network and then check the connectivity status...

  • WRT54G2 - problems only in AP mode

I have a new WRT54G2 I would use just like an access point wireless, allowing routing to my existing cable modem/router.

My private network IP is 10.1.10. * to set up, I have an ethernet cable connecting port of my laptop to one of the ports numbered on the Linksys and there is a cable connecting the port of uplink on the linksys to ports numbered on my cable modem/router SMC.

I hard-reset the Linksys and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar to bring up the settings. Let the Type of connection Internet the "Automatic Configuration - DHCP" value - it's allowing him to get his cable modem/router settings, right?

I have change the local IP address to 10.1.10.199 and disable DHCP.

I get a window that says 'manage settings. Please release/renew IP.

I guess that means that my computer's IP, so I try to do it in command line.  I can release the IP address I got from Linksys, but I can't renew it.  My taskbar says I'm on an Ethernet unidentified without internet access.

It seems that the router does not receive its default gateway, DNS servers, the etc. of the router/modem.  Then I connect my laptop directly to the modem/router and try to reach the Linksys by typing the IP I assigned in the browser.  I get nothing.

No idea what I'm doing wrong (to, perhaps, try using this thing as an AP)?

Thanks for any help you can offer...

You need to connect to a LAN of Linksys port to your existing network. Do not use the WAN/Internet port.

  • Impossible to get computers to communicate between WRT54G2

I'm trying to change my router from a WRT54GS to a WRT54G2.  I have three computers connected to the router, and they all connect OK to the internet (1 Wired, wireless 2).  But I can't seem to communicate with each other.  When I try to access the public space on all the computers to another computer, the computer cannot be found.  As far as I know, I implemented the same as the WRT54GS WRT54G2.  When I change to the WRT54GS, computers communicate well.  I tried to save the configuration of the WRT54GS and reading in the WRT54G2, but it does not work; of course, the formats are different.

I have a few internet cameras connected wireless, active port forwarding and the active TZO DDNS.  I can communicate with the camera in accordance with both routers the computers both local and Internet.  Of DHCP IP Active on both routers tables approximately the same IP addresses for the computers.  I have Norton Internet security on all computers, and it is configured to allow access to the local computers.

I can't ping all computers from another computer.

The only difference I see in the settings for both routers is the default gateway, but I don't see how this could affect telematics inter.

Setting WRT54G2 would touch this inter-ordinateur communication?

    Thanks for your help.

Thanks to everyone for their responses.  After playing with the parameters more, it's Norton Internet Security, that was the problem.  I thought that there is a more different setting between two routers: the name of "router" in the Basic Setup menu.  "I had never changed a name by default, if the routers are called 'WRT54GS' and WRT54G2.  I changed the name of the WRT54G2 WRT54GS router and was able to communicate from one computer to another, but not vice versa.  Both computers have different versions of Norton Internet Security (2008 and 2009).  So I figured out how to add computers to the zone of confidence.  A version done automatically (don't remember what version), but I had to do it manually for the other version.  I don't know yet why he worked with the WRT54GS router, but everything works fine now.

freebelle: as you suggest, I have disabled the firewall and that he was able to communicate.

richard804: you have been correct - it was areas of trust.

Wilco: I tried your suggestion (i.e. wired all the computers to the router).

Thanks again for all the help
