Xbox 360 wired remote works only on Windows 7

Hello

I have a Xbox 360 wired gamepad that works fine on my Xbox 360. When I connect it to my Windows 10 laptop, it is recognized. But when I connect it to my Windows 7 64 - bit office, on which I want to use it, it is not recognized.

Here's what happens:

1. the green ring on the controller flashes

2. the said driver software installation window "Device driver software has not been installed successfully" and "No driver found" next to controller

3 device Manager described in 'Other devices' a 'Controller' device with a yellow exclamation on its icon point.

4. None of the following are displayed in the Device Manager (which should according to here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-controller-for-windows-help):

Human interactive devices

  • HID-compliant game controller
  • USB Human Interface Device

Microsoft Common Controller for Windows class:

  • Xbox 360 Controller for Windows

I already have:

1 downloaded and installed the Xbox 360 accessories software 1.2 for Windows 7 64 bit on the MS Hardware site. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times.

2. I tried different USB ports on my desktop, as well front and back, USB 2.0 and 3.0

3. run the tool material and features like suggested here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/wired-xbox-360-controller-to-pc-problem-please/b1c4b44e-8482-4630-88e4-da368eb8d650

4. I tried software update driver of in Device Manager

5. uninstall the device 'Controller' then reconnected the controller

all these have failed and led to the same results. Can anyone suggest what else to try?

Thanks in advance!

For any other person who has this problem, here is the solution that solved the problem:

1) go to the Device Manager

Right 2) click the device with the yellow exclamation mark on it (assuming that the device is plugged) and choose Update driver software. If the Option is not there, click on properties, got to Diver tab, then update driver.

3) click Browse my computer for driver software

(4) click on let me pick from a list...

(5) scroll down to the Microsoft common controller for the window class and choose

Choose 6) version 2.1.0

I have a controller wired xbox 360, not one of these pieces of plug. I put the USB controller and installed the device. However, it does not work. Xbox 360 Assecories status when I click on it says I have it has been changed or moved, and will not work. I have not touched. When I search for a download for Windows 8 all get them are downloads for Windows 7 and below. It's a bit frustrating to not be able to use it. I would be very happy to help.

Original title: windows 8 wired 360 controller

I found the problem. I had the appropriate controller and installed the device correctly. This is the program that runs the unit that had either corrupt or missing files. I uninstalled the program and then installed from the Microsoft Download page. Now he works currently. Thanks for the support.

  • Xbox 360 controller not working not not windows 7 (detected in Device Manager, still does not)

    What I have
Xbox 360 Wireless Controller (with the cable that allows you to connect it to the photo that is wired)

    This my problem
I connected the Xbox 360 controller to my pc via the cable, it is detected in Device Manager as 'wireless controller xbox 360 Via play & charge kit.
In respect of game controller does not appear even when you click advance to selected the device it does not always show upward.
I tried to use it TI a game it does not at all.
The rings on the Xbox 360 controller lights when I plug the controller in my pc (even though Device Manager detects a problem with)
When I press the button the controller guide, it just keeps blinking as if it must be syc (but it connect through a wire that shouldn't happen)

I tired using different drivers the same problems, I was installed the drivers off Windows 7 support site exactly the same problem...

I also tried unplugging all the USB devices on my computer and plug the controller Xbox 360 on USB port which are directly mounted on the mother exactly the same problem.

    Up to now NO solution.
Please help me because I think I got tired of everything I can

Unfortunately, this won't work.  The Play and Charge kit connects only up to the actual battery.  Still, the controller connects more wireless.

You would need a wired Xbox 360 controller or Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming receiver that connects to your wireless controller existing.

  • Xbox 360 wired remote does not

Well, yesterday as I bought a new wired controller to play in my PC and tried on my home cousin´s, I installed the drivers and everything worked fine. The problem is that I tried to use it in my pc today and I have errors during the installation of the drivers, I looked for a solution on the internet but nothing works when I try to install the drivers (also, when I plug it to the computer, the guide button flashes once and turns off)

Note: Yes, I tried to plug the usb key in all ports but nothing works

Note 2: I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the program and I run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 but when I click on "Finish" at the end of the installation it gives me this error: "'Setup cannot continue because an unexpected error has occurred" "

Note 3: I already contacted Xbox support, but they told me to go to the support of Windows and Windows support only offered to buy ENSURES

  • HP DV6768se Mini Remote works only on Windows 7!

Just like the title says, my mini remote control won't work for nothing, I have windows 7 ultimate. I have the ENE CIR Receiver driver installed (41645) and with this driver, the only thing that works is the button to switch to the external display. I tried to change the battery twice (was a 2 Pack of brand new) still nothing. I even tried to change a new driver ENE CIR driver (44983) which is supposed to be for windows 7.but with this driver even not that external display button will work. This remote was working find on windows vista (but everything still sucked him )

For your model, all you need to do is to install Quick Launch Button software, CIR driver comes into it.

Uninstall the current ENE CIR driver, and install software QLB, Win7 Upgrade guide, here, your laptop is in level 2.

  • Windows compatible xbox 360 wired controller

Purchased windows compatible xbox 360 wired controller this seller assured me would work under Vista. But apparently not.
I downloaded the latest driver suitable for the material and installed according to the instructions (with controller unplugged) but still no joy.  I have Vista Home Premium.  The controller is recognized and responds in the calibration utility, but doesn't seem to work for the games. Is it compatible for Vista and Modern Warefare 2?  Are only some supported games? If I lost my time & or silver?

Only some games support a controller.  Most of the games, including pulling just support a mouse - frankly because it's much better to use a tiny stick.

If his work all in calibration tools then the controller is working properly, unless the cod has an option somewhere to allow a controller then it probably does not support one.  His place to decide what methods of control that they want to support the game developers. • XBOX 360 wired controller not working not with my Xbox but works on another Xbox

Problems with my xbox wired controller.  When I plug it into a usb port it flashes once quickly and turns off.  I tried to use it with other boxes of xbox 360 and it works very well.  I did all the troubleshooting steps and the wireless remote we have works very well.  We sent the box to Microsoft 2 times already because of the same issue.  both times he worked for a short period, then stopped working both times.  I don't want to send it back again so please Help!

    Hi Brian,.

If the controller is working on other computers, then it's a problem with the USB port to which you connect the Xbox to.

Well want to try plugging it into a different port and check.

My Xbox 360 wired controller, I bought a few months ago, has stopped working. I have a desktop of windows 7 and a computer laptop windows 8 and everytime I try to plug it into either a green ring appears around the Xbox button and both computers say "USB device not recognized" I installed the drivers on the two computers from the disk included and check the updates of my office. I should also mention this controller is slightly used and did not much physical abuse at all. How should I try to fix this?

How can I get my xbox 360 controller to work with my computer?... I can't even recognize the hardware? Im running Vista 64 bit on a quad core rig any help would be appreciated... Thank you

    Hello Ghostdogaln.

How do hang you the controller?  You must either use a * wired * controller, or use a wireless controller with receiver game Xbox 360 for Windows.

If you use a wireless with a Play and Charge kit controller, it will not work as long as the USB cord only actually plug into the battery for the controller itself. • Configuration error up to Xbox 360 as extension of media including Windows 7 PC multimedia

    Running Windows 7 x 32.

Until the recent XBox 360 update, everything worked fine using 360 as a media Center Extender.

Now fails and when I try to resestablish a connection, a configuration error arises.

Network connection looks very good I can still media playback fine on the Xbox interface.  Media Center seems to find and install the extension OK, just fails during Setup.

Have tried with AV and fiewalls disabled (Karspersky) without success.

Frustrating that was working fine, now the functionaility is lost.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

For months, I met a problem exactly as described here, but I finally fixed it on my machine and I think that I learned at the base of it.

The fix (this is for Windows 7, can also apply to Vista):

    1. find your file 'Users' (usually c:\users).

    2. under "Users" folder, navigate to the subdirectory "Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live".
Note: The directory does not exist, but I saw the problem of the Extender only on a computer that has it.

3 inside of that directory, there are additional subdirectories (e.g. "Bob" and "SqmApi"). Inside, there are several files with the extension .sqm. THE PROBLEM IS WITH. SQM FILE PERMISSIONS. Specifically, the profile service has access permissions or to copy files when you create a new profile.

    4. to solve the problem of authorization, perform the following actions on each of the SQM files.
Note: Inherit permissions from the parent container will grant all access to read files.

    a. right click on the file, select Properties.
    b. Select the Security tab, click the Advanced button
    c. Select the permissions (default) tab, click on change permissions...
    d. MARK THE BOX: include permissions can be inherited from the parent of this object.
e press the OK button several times to close all dialog boxes.

Then, the Media Center Extender installation program as per regular instructions.

While these steps managed to fix my computer, they may not apply to all situations. My advice is to run the following diagnosis:

    1. use the control panel to create a new user account.

    2. use "Switch user" (or Log off/Log) in an attempt to connect to this new account. This attempt will fail (if not, you may have a different problem).

3 look at the log of the events of 'Application' (under "Windows logs") for the relevant events.

On my machine, I received several warnings with 1509 event Id on files that could not be copied from Users\Default to Users\TEMP due to access denied errors. There were files .sqm with incorrect permissions.

I recently built a new computer that runs on windows 7 and want to use my xbox 360 wired controller to play a game on it. But every time I plug my controller that my computer is unable to find its drivers. I tried troubleshooting, plug the controller into different ports and update the drivers manually, but none of it works. • Cannot install drivers for xbox 360 wired controller.

Original title: How can I install my controller wired correctly?

I'm trying to install the drivers for my xbox 360 wired controller, that I bought from Gamestop on my Toshiba Qosmio x-870 running windows 7 64 bit. When I plug the controller into the usb port, the drivers are automatically downloaded, but for some reason any cannot be installed. I tried the driver downloaded from the Microsoft Web site software. I also tried to uninstall the controller and try again. Any advice?

Try the controller on another computer and see if it works, or take the controller back and exchange it for another.

I have one on my computer and installed Windows 7 drivers automatically when I plugged the controller works fine.
