XPS 18-1820 AIO - upgrade of ram possible on refurbished computers? Dell chat said no.

Hello

I am interested in buying a refurbished XPS 1820 AIO on the outlet site. Each of them in the output are configured with 4 GB of ram. I would like to at least 8 GB. When I spoke with a representative of dell on the site, he told me that 4 GB is the maximum ram, it can take.

I've read elsewhere that the 1820 can take up to 16 GB of ram. So what is true here? Is it misinformed, maybe Dell takes the extra slot on the refurb? Are they just say that because they don't want the people to open them?

Thank you

Yes, I just installed a Samsung EVO 850 512 GB in there, which is a double keyed SSD and it works correctly.

My refurb unit also came with 8 GB of RAM, even if advertised with 4 which was a nice bonus...

One thing I noticed is that USB dongle for the keyboard and the mouse was NOT installed inside and was just in the keyboard box.  I have it installed in internal inside the USB port so that both external ports are always available.

    Hello

The upgrade of RAM depends on the chipset which is mounted on the motherboard.
As far as I know the some of the P750 are equipped with Chipset Mobile Intel HM65.
So as much as I know that you can upgrade the RAM up to 8 GB. In this case, you can use 2 x 4 GB RAM max

    > And I know that this may be a shot in the water, but is it possible to update the graphics card at all?
No, the graphics card can not be upgraded

    > It's currently a Satellite A100 (PSAARA) with 2 GB of RAM. What type of RAM upgrade I could on this system? And what code PIN?

I think modules laptop use the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM, but AFAIK the 2 GB of RAM is max and this would mean that it of not possible to upgrade to 4 GB or more

But to be 100% sure, you should consult your user manual.

  • Upgrade of RAM up to 8 GB - DELL Vostro 3700

    Hello world!

I decided to upgrade my DELL Vostro 3700 with 4 GB of RAM up to 8. Is it feasible and technically possible to have 2 memory glue 4 GB each?

I read the manual, it is that I can use up to 4 GB in each slot. A year ago, I heard that DELL support does not recommend to have more than 2 GB in each slot. WHO KNOWS?

    Hi Pholiant,

Dell Vostro 3700 has 2 SODIMM slots. The system accepts a memory of 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB capacity. The type of memory accepted either DDR3 1066 MHz DDR3 1333 MHz SODIMM only. The computer supports a maximum of 8 GB of memory when it is installed with two DIMMS to 4 GB.

I bought the regular version of the 8700 XPS that came with 8 GB of ram not the 8700 XPS Special Edition.

I got contradictory information service to Dell customers on the amount of ram, the card mother the regular XPS 8700 supports. When I bought, but have read on the forum that it is only 16 GB, I said 32 GB of Dell.

Can someone confirm please the amount of ram, the card mother the regular XPS 8700 can handle? Please, I beg you.

    Hi chrisyackulic,

Dell XPS 8700 has 4 x 240 pin slots DDR3L/DDR3 SDRAM supporting the Dual Channel DDR3L SDRAM up to 1600 MHz. The XPS 8700 supports a maximum of 32 GB of system memory. If you install DDR3L, all other modules should be DDR3L (1.5 V) only.

  • Satellite M45-S169 - overheating and the upgrade card RAM/graphics

    Hello

I have need some answers and solace to the questions I have on my laptop. Here are the following questions:

Laptop overheating fast enough, hereby, I mean in about 10 minutes, the laptop Burns upward. It is the model or is there something wrong with it? I can't keep the laptop without maintaining that it plugged into the wall at all times. That this has something to do with my battery like that I need a new?

I am able to install the new RAM * (2 GB Max) and if yes, someone knows how it slots are for this model? (Not really opened to check because I'm bad to put things together after taking them apart)

I am able to install a new graphics card for the laptop or I'm stuck with ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 M Series? (and if it is not too much to ask, is the graphics card, I have good, bad, or so - so)

Sorry if there are too many questions, but it would be really nice if I get the answers to all these.

    Hi Honu_2,

(1.) you should clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans and read this article please:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=40

2.) Yes, it seems that you need a new battery if your laptop only works with AC/DC adapter connected.

3.), you should check your owner's manual. As far as I know this model supports up to 2 GB of RAM. This means that you can install 1 GB into the two slots.

(4.) the graphics card upgrade is not possible because it s/set soldered on the motherboard and your laptop is designed only for the preinstalled graphics card.

By the way: these questions are already answered here. Check out the forum for similar topics, you will find many interesting things! ;)

  • Satellite L30 - frequent BSoD after upgrade of RAM.

This problem is almost identical to [this post | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=144540𣒜], but given that the response was too general and did not help, I want to provide more details about my problem and hope for a better answer.

My L35 (i.e. American L30) came with Vista Home Basic and only 512M of RAM. It was slow, but smooth otherwise. The problems started after I upgraded the RAM to 2 GB occasionally a BSoD will appear, and the computer restarts after a second or two.
Most of the time, instances of BSoD are not taken at random; usually, it happens when you watch a film or multimedia and online during the wake her up after suspend.
Also, it happens much more frequently if an external monitor is attached. He does, connect an external monitor and watch a movie will result in BSoD with 100% certainty. My laptop has shared video memory, maybe it's a question here.

The problem prevailed after that I installed Windows 7.
Memtest86 + showed no problems with my memory
Memtest86 covers all aspects of the use of the RAM?

Is it possible that some problems may be overlooked by memtest86?
Are there other tests of memory, that I could use, specifically to test the shared video memory?

Not every hardware problem can be detected software.
You have tested the RAM with Memtest86 +? Try using Memtest86 (no +).

In the worst case, you must replace the RAM. Ask the dealer for a new computer. I m sure they will help you.

  • Qosmio F30-125 - how to upgrade the RAM?

    Hello

I have a model PQF30E Qosmio and who seek to increase the RAM.

I read that this model can take 2 GB max as opposed to the PQF32E which can take 4 GB.

I have the standard 512 MB installed at the moment and when I open the back I have only a slot for expansion. Should I put a 2 GB upgrade in this slot I can not find a 1.5 GB upgrade or is it possible to delete the original 512 and replace with2 x 1 or 1 x 2 GB.

    Thank you
    Ben

    Hi mate

    What boarder said is right.
The user manual provides information on the possible RAM upgrade and there is also an instruction how to put the RAM in the slots.
Usually it s not difficult and can be done very quickly.

    View just the words to the subject of the upgrade of RAM max;
It's material and limited to Intel chipset limitation.
If you want to know how much RAM is possible then check your type of chipset and visit Intel for chipset details.
In the datasheet, you can find the specifications of the chipset.

  • Satellite A200 - 1 MB-Question on upgrade of RAM and installing XP

Recently bought a PC laptop toshiba a200 - 1 MB.
    It came with a 1 GB of ram (512 + 512 DDR2, 667 Mhz).

I want to move the ram to 2 GB, is it possible to add RAM by keeping the originals in place?

In addition, I want to replace Vista with XP, it is possible to do. The product recovery cd came with preinstalled in vista. Can I install the drivers from the recovery cd and install xp separately.

    Thank you

The two locations are already occupied.
If you want to upgrade the RAM you have to remove a module.

You can upgrade the RAM up to max 4 GB (2 x 2 GB)

    You can use the DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300) 200 - PIN SODIMM

    > Also, I want to replace Vista with XP, it is possible to do. The product recovery cd came with preinstalled in vista. Can I install the drivers from the recovery cd and install xp separately.

This is possible. You need to install the XP from your original CD of Microsoft. XP drivers can be found on the Toshiba page

  • Satellite P10 804 will not accept the upgrade of RAM

Apologies, this is it is a bit long and also if this question has been covered elsewhere here: I had a good nose autour and have not found something that seems to help.

In any case, I had a Satellite P10 804 during these past years, I bought in the United Kingdom.

Quite early in my time with this laptop, I upgraded the RAM. It was 3 or 4 years ago, when memory was not as cheap right now, so I bought just a single 1 GB module. P10-804 will take up to 2 GB of RAM.

The P10 804 came with 512 GB as standard in two modules. My upgrade means I got 1.25 GB, which was in very good health. Everything was fine until the end of last year when the defective laptop; I followed the fault in module 1 GB of RAM. It was a bit awkward since I now live in New Zealand. However, the provider of the RAM was very professional, stood by their warranty, and we arranged a swap. RAM prices had fallen, so I bought another module of 1 GB at the same time upgrade the laptop completely.

Now the problems really started. The laptop would not simply work with the new installed RAM modules. It would work with one alone, nor even less with my old configuration of a module of 1 GB and 256 GB module. Start and run for five minutes before a freeze; white screen with fans roar; blue screen; frozen screen normal with strange objects; No start at all. everything.

Everything that works now is my original 256 MB module (his partner disappeared). This leads me to assume that I don't have some sort of hardware failure?

1 GB modules are DDR333 SODIMM, CL2.5. This laptop will also have the DDR266 modules, and it has been suggested to me, lower speed might work. I can try this option since the RAM prices are * really * low now, especially if I get confirmation of this as a valid strategy possible.

The laptop BIOS is updated to v2.00 (maybe?), and I also upgraded the HDD to a 120 GB unit (this works very well and is partitioned for XP and Linux). And from time to time I empty the fan.

Any advice welcome. Thanks for reading.

Reading your message, I came to the conclusion that this issue must be linked to the new RAM module and this module is malfunctioning or is not fully compatible with your laptop.

The P10 can be upgraded to 2 GB, so you should be able to use two single RAM 1 GB modules

So it must be a module problem

  • Upgrade of RAM 2 GB of Crucial on Qosmio G20

    Hello.

I bought an upgrade of RAM (2 x 1 GB SODIMM) 2 GB for my Crucial G20-108, listed here http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpar...9C324BA5CA7304 but chips won't work in my machine.

The first set, I bought and installed, cannot start Windows and MemTest86 didn't immediately. I tried each piece individually and both together, the BIOS (1.20) recognizes the amount of RAM, but Windows does not start (Gets a few seconds and crashes) and as I said, MemTest86 failed.

RMA I got them and and got a new set, but they are not exactly the same way. The chips are listed as PC2-4200-s-444-12-A0, then DDR2 533 CL4. I noticed that the 512 Mb chip work that I have in my machine is listed as PC2-4200 s-444-10-A0. 12-A0/10 - A0 is important at all? I'm not sure that the 2 sets of RAM from Crucial, which should be compatible with my machine, must both have the same defect, is there a BIOS of RAM setting I missed that I need to address before they will work?

Settings of RAM seem non-existent when I look in the BIOS upgrade to 1.30 will add additional options such as schedules or speed?

    Any advice would be appreciated,

    Steve

    Hello

    You haven t missed anything
After you insert the memory modules, the BIOS should recognize all of the memory and the laptop should boot correctly.

If this is not possible then the RAM modules are faulty or not fully compatible!

    Modules Qosmio G20-108 supports DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM
    Check this box:

[Details of memory for Toshiba Qosmio G20-108 | http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=14845&ft=m&st=3]

On the page of Toshiba Europe-> Option & accessories you will also find the compatible modules.

My recommendation is: use the new modules recommended by Toshiba
