XPS 8500 does not turn on, power supply problem

XPS 8500 shipped on 18/01/13 so only a little more than 1 years. does illuminate, check psu and it's fine. reduce mobo or power button module. want to try to bypass the module by jumping pins on the mobo, problem is that I can't find any list of the pins for mobo or power button. Any help would be greatly appreciated since comp is barely over the years and cannot afford a new right now. Called Dell but no help it cause guaranteed missed, which took them 5 transfers and 45 minutes to tell me that :)

If the green light on the power supply goes off, it detects an anomaly. So, it is not the power button that does not work.

  1. Visually check all ports USB for damage, misshapen or twisted for example contacts
  2. Try to turn on with nothing attached (no keyboard, no monitor, no mouse, etc.)
  3. Setting power off unplug and power button press / hold for ~ 15s open the case and carefully reconnect all RAM modules and PCI cards in their locations. Check the power cable from the power SUPPLY mobo and CPU. Cable control to all readers, video card etc... Pull the mobo battery and power press on/hold button for ~ 30, replace the battery (right-side-to the top).
  4. Check the cable to the module button before (F_PANEL connector on the mobo)
  5. Check before USB cable to motherboard
  6. Etc.

The manual is hereif you need information about all of these connectors.

  • 850 - 009na M1Z34EA #ABU: CPU fan for the 850-009na feel like Phoenix does not turn down after the power - on self test unless the BIOS is entered

    Hello

I have posted responses to other posts on this topic, but thought I'd start a new thread to gather my conclusions. I'm sorry for a trial

This PC is virtually brand new (only a few weeks now) and otherwise perform exceptionally.

Basically, if the machine is disconnected from the power grid (i.e. the power is off at the plug or the power cord removed), when the machine is supplied then the CPU fan turns over 2000 rpm and stays there. All the other PC that I do this too, but the fan will slow down after turning upward. I know that this is done as part of the POST to check that the fan is running.

If I go into any installation of seed, start-up or BIOS for example (i.e. by pressing ESC or F10 etc.), the fan will slow down immediately up to 700 rpm. It will stay like that until the next time the machine is started against the cold. If I shut down the PC - watch or stop - but do not cut the power supply, then the next time the machine is started, the fan is still about 700 rpm. It is not to turn up to 2 k + RPM when lit.

As soon as I unplug, then the next time the PC boots, it will turn to the top and I have to repeat steps - off, boot, enter the BIOS, exit and continue. It is something to do with the cold start.

Note that I don't have to do anything in the start menu - I for example go to the BIOS settings, exit without saving the changes, and the fan will still slow. It's going in the boot sector that slows down the fan.

When the PC started out-of-the-box, I opted for the upgrade to Windows 10 during installation. I have read in various places that people had experienced after the upgrade, so I reset the machine to factory settings (Win 8.1) and have not upgraded, but the problem persisted. However convinces me that Windows 10 has been removed completely, as when I went to restore the backup image (i.e. dating back to what I had before the factory reset) there are references to 10 Windows (for example, it says 'Continue to Windows 10' as well as various food options). I do not understand UEFI so I don't know if that was involved.

I tried to change the power plan options "Processor power management-> cooling system strategy" on the liabilities side, but no joy there.

I think that the fan and sensors work, based on the findings below. These readings of temp and fan are taken from AIDA64

After starting cold (current was cut, without entering the BIOS), machine runs dry without load

Exactly the same thing--starting in cold, but go in the BIOS, do nothing and continue. Once again, no load

This is after power off and resarting, but to let the PC network

After the above, I used Prime95 to put the CPU support (use of 95-100%), and after an hour, the readings are:

Note that even so, the fan was not particularly strong, but it's at 2222 rpm as in the first reading.

If I play at 4K (the whole point of the PC ) the CPU so far got very warm, the GPU is but his fan turns up as planned.

In conclusion, it seems that the POST has a problem because it does not slow down the fan after the test.

I can live with let the machine always plugged into the sector (for example, most of the time) and I guess that's what most people do, but I would like to know what the problem is (for example if it's really something 10 Windows, or a bug in the BIOS/UEFI)

    Thank you very much!

    John

Explain you a lot of people who maybe have returned their system immediately because of this? Others might judge normal sound. Not irritable average is not coming here to complain. Others might judge her so little. They simply don't like. You will never convince me that is not a BIOS problem. As the problem resolves itself when you enter manually each time. It can be reproduced every time.

  • Satellite PRO U300 does not turn off

    Hello

I am facing a problem for the last few days on my Satellite PRO U - 300 (31st PSU)...

The machine does not turn off and the power light stays on (blue LED) even after you have disabled. In fact, happened 3 - 4 times when I start the computer normally by pressing the power button / stop, it does not start and I noticed that the indicator was not extinguished even after + shut down +. Like any it is blocked! I have to finally, remove and reinsert the battery to start the laptop.

Some details of my pc are as under:

Version of the OS Microsoft® Windows Vista Business 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1
    BIOS Version V2.00
    Processor Intel (r) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU T7100 @ 1.80 GHz

Can someone help me solve this problem. Is it possible that during the uninstallation of programs, any perticular driver file is also deleted?
    Thank you

    JITENDRA

    Hello

I don't know that you understand the indicator of power, but to me it sounds like AC Power LED and this LED is always on when the laptop is connected to the power supply.

Power on / off LED is probably what you mean (the other starting on the left).
Anyway, you turn off your laptop using a standard on the Start button?
Are you sure you want to use the Hibernate mode.

Believe me, the entire description here is pretty confusing to me. It may be that the laptop is turned OFF but power light is still on.

Have you installed something 4 days ago? Or deleted some important application?
Sorry, but it is not easy to say with certainty what the problem is here.

  • printer does not turn on

My Deskjet 6980 printer has stopped working.  It has worked very well so far. Flashing lights said he needs ink. I put in the new ink. Now, it won't turn. The power supply is turned on, the works of output (without surge protector), but the printer does not turn on. In all he has no light on the printer, except light power cord in the back. I tried everything I could find online, but nothing works. My computer was still recording the printer, but since it will not power, says that it is in offline mode. Any suggestions would be helpful.

The unit may have developed a power failure, but may be also simply in a State of error because of the fresh cartridges.  There are a few steps, I'll try in this case of troubleshooting.

    * If possible, try to remove the cartridges that you recently installed before performing a hard reset of the printer.

    * Hard reset of the printer by unplugging the device, disconnect the other end of the power cord from the wall outlet, separates the power cord of the power supply, wait 30 seconds and plug it back up.

See also the steps described in the document, found here, to solve a lack of power.  I hope this helps.

I have a 2335dn printer that does not turn on and makes a clicking noise up through the document feeder.  FYI, the scanner lock is not locked either.  The display does not illuminate, nor the printer begins to warm.  It is simply a constant clicking noise.  I don't know if there is an internal power supply or if she has been shot.  Y at - it may be a loose connection where the cable connects the document feeder at the bottom?  Appreciate any comment.

OK, so I opened up the printer and found a bad capacitor on the power supply.  After replacing the capacitor all starts perfectly.

  • Toshiba Camileo P10 does not turn

I have a toshiba camileo p10. The problem is that the camera does not turn. I tried to recharge the battery, but the red light blinks for hours.

I tried without the battery and the charger plugged but nothing happened. I cleaned the contacts.
    All solutions?

Have you removed the battery AND the AC adapter?
Try this. The two parties should be removed/disconnected.
Leave the camcorder for some time (a few hours). Press and hold button power 30 sec long. After this plug in the battery and charger.
Wait until the battery has been charged and then try to turn on the cam by pressing the power button.

    Good luck buddy.

  • L50D-B-146 satellite does not turn

    Hello

I have a problem with my L50D-B-146 turns is not on. Very rarely, when I try to turn it on it works. Once I managed to turn on I tried to upgrade the Bios to 1.6 1.2, but you must restart your computer to complete the installation I couldn't because it does not turn on 99% of the time. The laptop didn't work before I tried upgrading the Bios is not the fault of the installation to fail. Also when I get to turn Windows works perfectly fine, until I have to turn it off again.

When I try to turn it on the power button light works and you can hear the fan, otherwise you may not even see the screen Toshiba Leading Innovation, so I don't think it's the fault of the window. I repeat again once you can activate from time to time, but very rarely. Also it is not the fault of the monitor that I connected the laptop to an external display, and again, there was a problem.

I would be very grateful for any solution to this problem

    The solution to this problem?
I don't know if anyone here can offer virtual diagnosis and offer the working solution.
When the machine works sometimes such a problem is not easy to understand. Such behavior of the laptop must be analyzed and may be tested with diagnostic tools.

What we do here, it's just to speculate at what may be the problem. Looks like the BIOS related issue. For some reason, from time to time your machine cannot pass the BIOS checking the material.

Have you already contacted Toshiba services and asked for help?

  • Qosmio F20 does not turn on.

Hi, I have a Qosmio F20 which now has desided not to power up.
When I plug in the adapter I have the Green AC power led and battery led lights.
However when I press the button START the Green battery LED turns off and that Orange green AC Power going to THEM. It's her!

To get the two green LEDs, I lead remover AC and battery then reinsert battery lead AC. Then the battery LED is orange for awhile before it goes green.

BTW I've updated 2 weeks RAM (2 x 1 GB), but all was fine with that until now this power issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cordially, Steve.

    Hello

Looks a little electronic power supply problem.
But have you tried to remove one of the RAMs in order to check if you could power the laptop using a single module of RAM?

    You should do
One of my friends could not power the laptop because of the faulty RAM.
I think that it s no doubt worth a try.

    In addition, try this:
-Disconnect the battery and AC adapter
    -wait little time (1 hour)
-bring together the two parties again
-try to turn on the unit.

If two workaround solutions won't help you then a hardware problem serious has happened and in my opinion, the technician must be contacted in order to verify some parts.

Sorry, but that's all I can suggest.

  • ThinkPad x 240 - Fn keys Mute and Microphone are lit, TP does not turn

    Hey, the team.

It has been 24 hours since I discovered my thinkpad does not turn.

I used this last Saturday afternoon and stops completely.

Never, I put my TP in sleep or Hibernate mode.

When I woke up yesterday, 11:00 I discovered keys Fn, Mute and Microphone are lit. The fan does not work (the whole system is off). The laptop temperature is normal, not hot or warm as it is used.

I removed the external battery and power adapter, press the power button for more than 3mins., replace the battery and plugged in the power adapter (the power button blinks when I plug in the power adapter as it usually does when) and pushed the power button - nothing happens.

The Fn keys, mute, and Microphone are still on and the TP does not turn.

I have not pressed the emergency at the back reset button (I'm afraid I might lose all my files).

So far, the same 3 - keys are turned on.

I need help as soon as possible.

RESET button at the back does not affect the disk hard one will interrupt the internal battery and make it portable completely empty of power, making what button or something like that.

Another topic of your own, it could be 1. Firmware BIOS hung himself to act in same condition all the time, so the only option is to open the laptop and unplug the CMOS AKA motherboard BIOS battery and leave it for like 15 minutes then reconnect it and see if it is still silent originally and the fn button to stay lit, otherwise connect other batterys and the AC adapter / CC and press the top I hope that powers on as usual since a few times BIOS can hang itself which means laptop is totally turned off until you kill the bios firmware completely.

  • Acer Aspire One D270 does not turn on!

Have an Acer Aspire One D270. I've had for about 4-5 months now. Today it suddenly has stopped and it won't turn on. I left for a few hours but nothing yet. I thought it was a battery problem but the charging light does not turn. I know for sure, it is not the charger. Please help me! Thanks in advance!

    [Moved from comments]

Nevermind found the solution...                                                                                                              Follow the steps below. (Please be careful when you handle the electrical components of the computer such as batteries and power adapters)

    • Remove the battery and hold the power for a few seconds (drain any remaining power)
    • Turning on the computer without the battery with the AC adapter is plugged in.
    • Wait a few seconds and then reconnect the battery

After a few tries the computer should start normally supported. The amber battery stops flashing and turns green when fully charged.
