Your Xperia Z3 compact message

Hi there... new to all this stuff Forum. I have a new z3 compact Xperia and I'm so frustrated trying to get a tone 'message' out of it. She doesn't, is sitting quietly with a small "1" by the messaging on the home screen icon. No use to me at all; I need to hear an incoming message. I tried setting the tone of notification e-mail on 'default' or one of the other tones, too 'none' and in the parameters key 'system' to any available sound notification sound, but still no joy. I have updated the latest version of the software and have stopped and restarted my phone. My friends are sick of me text asking me if I can test my new and expensive phone. Any ideas please?

Hi there... Thanks for the help, but I'm on Sony and lie in the defining apps > "e-mail", I needed to check the bit NET box to "show notifications. Even tho ' he showed me I had text messages, apparently it is also linked to the sound.

I hope someone reads it, and solves a very frustrating problem...

I do not use OE so I really should stay out of it, but I have it in my notes that can get you started and then other people may also help:

I advise all to first understand what is happening and then decide how best to treat for your environment:

If you are talking about a message that says:

To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This can take up to a few minutes.

Automatic compaction of Outlook Express files was introduced in Service Pack 2.

If you are using Windows XP, there is a registry value called:

    Compact Check Count

It is located in the registry for a key that looks like this:

    \Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0 HKCU\Identities\ {51909A0B-63EE-4EB3-A9A2-7CFA23C1ADCF}

Whenever you leave OE (not when you open it), the value of the counter increases by an increment (increment is not a verb so you can't increment something and a counter cannot be incremented).  When the value of the counter gets to 101, the next time you close OE asked you to compress messages.

There are two things that will increase the value of the counter.

Exit from Outlook Express will increase the value of the counter.

If you have Windows Desktop Search installed, it will increase the counter every time it works which is usually at least at each reboot.

If you use Outlook Express, and Windows Desktop Search, the counter will be increased more frequently — whenever you close Outlook Express and whenever Windows Desktop Search launches when you restart.

So if you have Desktop Search installed, which will increase the counter of an increment, each time that you start and if you open and close OE ten times a day, your meter will be at eleven after only a day.  Repeat this for 9 days and you will see this message.

Even if you are not using Outlook Express and only using Windows Desktop Search, which will still increase the meter, so when the meter reaches 100, Windows Desktop Search will prompt you to compress messages at the next reboot even if you use not OE.

This is because Windows Desktop Search is configured by default to search for the Outlook Express database if you are using OE or not.

No matter how the counter is increased, if you use at least one of these two, eventually you will see this message appear sooner or later.  But you can stop it when you understand.

Did you know that the "increase" is not a verb?  If you cannot 'increment' (or decrement) a counter.  You can increase or decrease an increment, however.

You can compress data when prompted (which resets the counter to 0).

You can change the registry and reset the counter to hand to buy some time until you see the message again.

If you do not use Outlook Express and only using Windows Desktop Search you can tell Windows Desktop Search to never watch the Outlook Express database (or uninstall the Windows Desktop Search if you do not use).

To remove the Option of Windows Desktop Search index to the database of Outlook Express follow these steps:

Click Start, settings, Control Panel, Indexing Options, change, clear the box Outlook Express, OK, OK, to save the settings and reboot the system so that the changes will be effective.

After the Outlook Express recommended for use (which would include the normal database maintenance) will prevent you from seeing the message in the first place.  If you see the message that you might want to reconsider how you use Outlook Express and the risks of data store corruption of occasional or misuse (risk behaviours).

Most people using Outlook Express or Windows Desktop Search agree just remove the indexing Option in Windows Desktop Search and keep the meter that is built into Outlook Express so that they will remind to compact the database from time to time.  If you had to sort of do not maintain your Outlook Express files, it would be risky for your messages.

Windows Desktop Search is a memory and CPU of pigs anyway, so you better system performance if you just uninstall it.

  • To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This can take up to a few minutes.

    Every few minutes the message:

"To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages.  This can take up to a few minutes. »

It is irrelevant for two reasons:

    (1) I do not use Outlook Express and have therefore no messages to be compacted.

    (2) I have not free disk space as I am currently using only five percent of the very large disks.

Is could someone please tell me how I get rid of this very irritating message.

Try to reset the compact County in the registry:

    1. Start the registry editor.
    2. Open this key:

      \Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\ {identity}

where the identity is a string of letters, numbers, and dashes.

    3. The value of Compact Check Count to 0.
    4. Close the registry editor.

For more information, see why you should let Outlook Express Compact Messages when it asks you .

  • Outlook Express 6.0: message Constant (every 10-15 seconds) - Outlook Express can compact messages.

In the last 4-6 months, I get the message: "to free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This can take up to a few minutes. OK / Cancel. "This happens when my computer starts (after welcome screen) up to and including when that I disconnect during the night. AND it happens every 10-15 seconds and up to a few hours. then it stops for several hours and then again every 10-15 seconds. To say that it is boring, frustrating and a pain in the * would be a major understatement.
I never click OK; always Cancel. I have NO idea why this is happening.

Around the same time that it started, so-called indexing (?) stood. He appears on the Desktop Board. I never asked for it, have no idea what it is, etc. Have no idea if the two are connected.                   Questions:1) how "Compact messages" go away forever? Where they come from? Why are the projection on my computer.        Note: I am the one and only user on this computer!
    (2) what is indexing? Why I need or want? Why it appear? He needs to go ASAP!

Finally, the technical stuff: OS - XP Pro SP3. Antivirus: Webroot 2011-2012. To update all patches from Microsoft. Browser: Firefox.
Nobody knows what is happening and how to make it go away.

Thank you very much!!!                                    P.S. in the time it took me write this (about 5-7 minutes), the "Compact messages) showed up to 10 times! You see why I'm ready to tear my hair out?

Assuming that you use either OE, and or, you leave compact once, indexing is perhaps the reason. Windows Search is installed?

You must tell Windows Search to stop indexing OE.

Windows Search. Set Desktop Search Options
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Australia/windows/desktopsearch/search/options.mspx

In the control panel. Indexing Options. Change. Clear the check box for Outlook Express.

You may leave compact once to reset the counter, but which should end with the prompt up to 100 closures of OE. If you do not OE, you let compact occasionally.

    About file Corruption:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx

Compacting your folders periodically is a must to keep OE works fine and at some point, you may lose all your saved messages if you do not. When you delete or move messages, the space they used remains until you compact.

Never touch anything until the compression is finished.* *.

    See:
    www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2

With SP2, Automatic compaction in the background has been removed because of problems he has caused. Now, you will get a prompt to compact after 100 closures of OE, you need to do, and do not touch anything until it's finished. If you compact manually, at your convenience, this will also set the counter to zero. See this for more information:
    http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm#compact

If you are fully patched, you will now see a copy of your dbx files copied to the Recycle Bin as BAK files. If something goes wrong when compacting, the messages can be easily restored from this backup. A compact manual resets also the counter in the back of the registry to zero now.

For more information, see the information framed in red here:
    www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2

To keep things running smooth and harden faster:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. It will eventually become corrupt and you may lose mail. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

    And backup often.

  • Compact message in Outlook Express dialog box appears several times

A few days ago my av (AVG) program found 2 Trojan programs and deleted. Since then, 'to free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages' dialogue box pop randomly, about every 20 to 30 seconds, OE is open or not, and that IE is open or not. No matter if I cancel or agreed process.

I tried the steps in the online self-help manual, but when I tried to reload the .dll files (pressing on > run), two files giving me error messages.

regsvr32msjava.dll says "specified module is not found.

regsvr32mshtml.dll says the file 'was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you.

This is a very good article, but it does not address your problem. It is usually Windows Search, but it could be something else.

The problem is with the registry counter which gives you the prompt after 100 closures of OE. It is increased faster than it should be after you install SP3, even if you use not OE. Here are some of the possible causes.

Keyboard IBM rapid access (pilot) RAKDLL. DLL
    Search Windows {office}
    MailWasher
    Nero-plug-in (s)

Opening of EML files while OE is closed will also help the County to register.

Different antivirus, antispyware, and third-party firewall, especially if they were running when you installed SP3.

In the case of Windows Search, (the offender #1), you must be told to stop indexing OE.

Windows Search. Set Desktop Search Options:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Australia/windows/desktopsearch/search/options.mspx

In the control panel. Indexing Options. Change. Clear the check box for Outlook Express.

In the case of Nero Scout, see point 2.3 page 8 here.
    FTP://ftp6.Nero.com/user_guides/Nero8/Scout/NeroScout_Enu.PDF

In the option to exclude indexing of selected file types, remember to add these file types:

    .eml, .dbx & .nws

  • Compacted messages in Out Look express all disappeared

I took the option of look express to compact messages that get this message... and it removed all my e-mails...

Where they get compacted too!... There are some very sensitive legal information in there I desperately need back...

    Help, please!

    Hi Stillraining,

Did you cancel the process while he was the compaction? you will need to locate your dfx file to see if the email still exists. Open Outlook express--> tools--> Options-> Maintenance-> click the storage folder. Get you the location of your dbx file, copy the address. Now, open my computer and paste the location into the address bar. This will show you all your dbx file. Locate the item you sent... Right click and view the properties. Atleast come to know if the file is re-created or its list of file which is damaged. Previous post: the result.

  • 6 Express Outlook popup when I first load XP prompts to "Compact Messages." I do not use OE6.

In the last week or so when I first load XP I get the most annoying popup stating "to free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages.  This can take up to a few minutes"my options are"OK"or"Cancel ".

I'm sure I know what compression of messages is on about, but I'm not under Outlook Express, I am running Outlook 2000.  I can't find where to disable this "friendly reminder" in OE6, or Outlook 2000.

Then why this pop-up box is just now appearing and how can I prevent the popping it up.  It really starts to annoy me.

I did some research on how to STOP, but obviously have not found the answer.  In fact this boredom made me create a Windows Live account, just so that I could post a question here.

    complain, complain...

    Thank you

    Scott

You're welcome, Scott.  I don't know why the message started appearing, but:

    • Because we say "to free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages...". ", it comes from Outlook Express.
    • By clicking on 'OK' could not to hurt and could solve the problem.
    • Running Outlook Express and compaction manually couldn't hurt and could solve the problem.

To ensure that this does not affect Outlook 2000, back up first to the top of your Outlook 2000 message store.

As nadine says it looks like the default keyboard has been disabled. It is possible to do when a keyboard of party 3:rd has been downloaded to the phone, and if the keyboard of the 3:rd group does not or is uninstalled it is possible that this can happen.

You have access to a USB OTG cable? To resolve this problem, you can connect a keyboard to the phone with a USB OTG cable, enter your password and then select the keyboard default settings-> language & entry-> current keyboard-> choose keyboards.

I bought xperia z3 compact 4 days after I sold my old HTC a x. a few things I want to share is 2 years.

    (1) even with 2 GB of RAM, it seems to work more slowly than my previous phone that was only 1 GB of RAM and more applications installed on my xperia.

    (2) sometimes touch don't work the first time when you tap on something, be it double tap the screen to wake up or press any icon.

    (3) motion sensor which allows to answer the phone by simply placing the phone near your ear does not work properly, he answers the call sometimes, other times it does not.

    (4) no screen protector or coverage by Sony, or available on the market.

    (5) software is not designed according to the material. These home buttons, back takes a lot of space on the screen. They should disappear/hide while working on any application so that the screen should appear larger. Don't suggest me purchase Z3 (cotyledon)

    (6) the battery is good, no doubt. Camera is good too.

    (7) rest will share more as I spend more time using the phone.
