Z22 data do not backup to hard disk

I have a Z22 and I installed the software on my laptop that is running Windows Vista.  I installed the software on July 21, 2008.  It was a new Palm Z22 to a new computer laptop.  I created a new username "Sara Janet Nash".  When I have hot synch, perfectly data is transferred between the device and the desktop software, but it seems to me (and I'm not a geek so maybe I understood how things work) as if the data is not saved on my hard drive, IE in C: / Program Files / Palm.  In this case, it is a record of user name called 'Janet', also dated July 21, 2008 (date of installation) and everything inside this folder (address, calendar, etc.) is also all the dated July 21, 2008, as are all the .dat and .bak files.  I was expecting the files containing the data that is on my device and the desktop computer for example address book, to be stamped with the date of when I have synced last warm (and I have hot synch every day).

I uninstalled the software Palm, deleted from the registry and re-installed the software, but the username folder that is created in c:/Program Files / Palm when I made the first hot sync was automatically named "Janet" again.  I thought that the relocation had solved the problem as the second time that I have hotsynched, all the files that were backed up have been dated and timed as changed to match the date and time in the HotSync log.  However, when I hotsynched today, although the data was perfectly exchanged between the device and the desktop software, none of the files / folders in c:/Program Files / Palm have been updated to show the current date as a 'last modified date '.

Is it makes sense?  I spent nearly two hours in the chat sessions with the help of the Palm and we saw throughout in circles, perhaps because I was not explain the problem clearly enough.

If anyone can help, I would be really grateful - I got the failure of two Z22 on me in the past, and because I was not manually backed up my user folder, I lost a ton of data that's why I want to be sure that it is stored on my hard drive so I can make a physical copy and save it somewhere safe.  Thank you.

Hello.. Welcome to the forums of Palm.  The first key here is what version of Palm desktop have you?  In palm desktop to go for help - on palm desktop, and I believe you will find that it is the version 6.22.  With 6.22, the path to data files going to the folder c:\program files\palm (or palmone) \user name to os desktop\ folder user name mydocuments\palm.  So you problem to find your data.

Correct, you will need to download the appropriate TXTmode drivers and put them on a floppy disk. If you have a MSI motherboard in your system, you will get these drivers from MSI.

It would be also possible to get Windows to load with a change in your BIOS settings, but I recommend that get you the correct drivers.

    Hello!

If you enter the product recovery disc, Windows will be relocated and will be erasing all data on the HARD drive.

I think that your HARD drive is damaged. You can check this with the Drive Fitness Test. Here you can download:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. Then you can test the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

By the way: you can save the data on the HARD drive, when you put it in a box external HARD disk. Then you can save the data on another PC, if the HARD drive is ok and have no errors.

  • Cannot start Windows, Windows Setup does not detect the hard disk, Bootmgr is misiing

I have a few problems on my laptop [Acer 3810 t]

    -The first problem
My mobile give me screen "cannot start windows' who have 2 choices: run the Startup Repair tool and boot normally. I chose to fix it, but nothing happens and stuck "starting windows" and gives unmountable boot volume 'blue screen '. the Dungeon of blues screen appear (for laptop is a not restart). So I turned off my phone and turn it back on it. the "could not start" screen again and I chose to start normally. but the result is negative. My portable Dungeon cannot start windows. Because of that I am using the advanced boot option and choose all the boot type such asit cannot load the safemode, last configuration etc, but the result is the same, you cannot start windows. in safe mode, its stuck in loading fileinfo.sys. I do not give up to try again with the advanced boot option. until I have a bad situation. My laptop can only 1 file in safe mode and blues screen do not appear again (my laptop only return at the beginning of start or restart)

    -The second problem
because it cant solved, I want to reinstall my laptop. My OS is Vista 32 bit (pre-installed). I want to install the new operating system, windows 7. I use Dsik Flash bootable USB to install Windows 7. But in the BIOS, it is detected as a USB HDD. So I set my BIOS to load USB HDD to the first order. the installation can be done, but only until the "start Setup" screen and its deadlock. I have it wait up to an hour, but nothing happens. So I'm going to BIOS, change SATA mode to IDE mode AHCI. Then load the USB and go "installation program start screen. but the new problem is the installation of window does not detect my hard drive. So I can not choose the place to install the operating system. I have to load the driver, but I did not. Again to load the configuration to AHCI and IDE, until I get my HDD can detected in IDE mode. So I think I can move easily, I choose custom installation and choose the hard drive to install the operating system. But unfortunately, at the beginning of the process, after choosing the OS, the Installer gives error if installation location the installation failed. (I forgot the error message)

    -The third problem
So far, I can't spend 'startup begins' as well in mode IDE and AHCI. Also bootmgr in my hard disk is missing, so I can't go to move the startup repair or the startup option in my HDD as before

What is the error code that you got with blue screen?

  • IX2 - dl does not support USB hard disk

    Hello!

I use an ix2 - dl as a backup at home. I recently upgraded from 2 TB WD red 2 (WD20EFRX) for 2 hard drives 4 TB (ST4000VN000) of Hitachi (two configurations were / are RAID1), and the upgrade went through flawlessly. But there is a problem: in the old configuration, I used a third drive connected via USB as a backup in case of failure of the NAS itself offline. Since I doubled the storage in the RAID array, I wanted to double the external storage as well. I plugged the third 4 TB on my homeserver disk, formatted (NTFS) and plugged my NAS ix4 - 300 d and just of stood and was used as the 2 TB drive in my ix2 - dl. However, when I plugged in my ix2 - dl it just does not appear here. I activated the end looked in SSH and foundout, he got during a few seconds under/mnt/ext /. said lsusb shows the drive is still there and parted and parted lists the disc correctly. I re-formatted it ext3 and ext4 and in both cases the reader is not always mounted on the correct mounting points. I created/mnt/test and mounted the USB it there using mount-t ext3/dev/sdc1/mnt/test, which works; Now I can access the drive via ssh. However when I tried mount - bind/mnt/test / / mnt/pools/A/A0 /respectively, I can open this folder, but cannot access any file in this directory. In addition, this workd only workaround until the next reboot, thereafter, the unit can be mounted in all.

Why this drive works perfectly on my ix4 - 300 d one isn't quite on my ix2 - dl? I'm at my wits end with this issue. any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Firestart3r,

From my experience, most of the devices and firmwares don't mount not an external drive that is greater than 2 TB:
    https://Lenovo-na-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/A_ID/34774/kW/external

I understand that one device is to mount the drive while the other is not, but as a planned restriction, the only solution I can really offer is to partition the external hard drive to match the limitation.

This will often allow to be mounted.

  • device not found Boot, hard disk does not exist... does that mean my computer is dead?

Suspecting that Im in a world of pain here. I tried to turn on my computer and it says "boot device not found" - performed in test failed... when I hit F4 and test drive, he said "there is no hard drive. The test of memory passes, but under the boot device not found says blue "Please install an operating system on your hard drive"... and to make matters worse he makes funny sounds when he tries to start.

Is there no hope at all that this computer working again? Is there a chance that everything I had on my hard drive can be recovered?

You are the very welcome, Jonathan.

dv5 is still not enough information to provide me with the service manual (in which case there is differerent for different dv5 models).

But here is the link to the service manual I've pulled at random.

    http://bizsupport1.Austin.HP.com/BC/docs/support/SupportManual/c01550108/c01550108.PDF

Guess it's safe to say that all dv5 models come with the laptop SATA drives.

So, if you want to spring for $15, you can get this place that apparently has very good reviews.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817182138

From what you describe (noise and other things), I would say that you don't have much chance of recovering the data, but it's up to you if you want to try the speaker or not.

    Here's what I recommend:

Pull the hard drive and turn on the laptop.

If the weird noise you heard has disappeared, then you can pretty much assume that the disc was the cause and replacing the disk and reinstalling the operating system will solve the problem.

If the noise is still there, while there could be another problem, and it might be risky to throw good money after bad.

  • does not detect external hard disk

    Hey guys

Recently I update my macbook pro (2014) in the sierra of mac os. Since then, my mac does not detect any external hard drive I plug in it even if these drives are detected by the PC and all the files inside. I tried to open utility disk where the hard drive is displayed but the 'volume' located below is gray. When I try to hit mount said volume that nothing happens. All I could do to fix this?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi sgerolio,

I understand that you are unable to detect any external drive that you plug into your MacBook Pro, since you upgraded to macOS Sierra.  How many external hard drives work?  How they are formatted?   If formatted for PC, they would not necessarily be able to be read by a Mac.

You have a small empty external drive or USB key that you can test?  Formatted in Mac OS extended (journaled).  Using the Finder, you are able to see the external drive and drag a file to it?

The title of the article includes the Aperture application but apply these tips to format an external hard drive to any software application.

Drives external format Mac OS extended before using with opening

  • Tecra A11 Port Replicator - do not enable external HARD disk when securing

    Hello

Had a problem with the Port Replicator port for my new Tecra - A11.

When I anchor the laptop in the Replicator, that is not automatically connecting external 700gig USB backup HDD, I have either pull the USB cable on the Replicator, or disable the drive HARD and again so he can be seen and recognized.

I never had this problem with my A8 and its replicator, I could just dock and everything was fine.

    I am running Win7

    Thank you... PK

    Hello

Seems that Win 7 is unable to recognize the external HARD drive that is already connected to the port replicator.
I m not very good if you had to install a software for this external HARD drive, but if software is required, and then try to reinstall again.

  • Can not read the HARD disk capacity properly after the upgrade on my Satellite A135-S2276

I have a Satellite A135-S2276 and I recently updated my 80 gig HDD with a 320 GB HARD drive and drive C shows only 72 GB of available not the 300 - ish that it should have. I did some research and it seems that it should be there, perhaps simply not visible? Update the BIOS?

    Any suggetions?

    Thank you!

    Hello

I think that the A135-S2276 supports SATA HDD so I doubt that the issue of the LBA48bit could be the reason.

I found the details here on the Toshiba page we:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/modelContent.jsp?CT=DL&OS=&category=&MOID=1596141& rpn = PSAD6U & modelFilter = A135-S2276 & SelCategorie = 3 & selFamily = 1073768663

In your case, I would recommend formatting the disk HARD whole again.
In addition, you should check the size of the HARD drive in the BIOS.

Generally, if the HARD drive has been recognised in the BIOS correctly then the OS should see all 320GB too.
