z840: Z840 - 40 minutes to start Windows 10?

New with Win 10 installed on the internal drive.  The system is sitting with the logo of hp led the drive or just on the screen for 40 minutes more, rest, disabled keyboard (cap / NumLock does not change the keyboard lock lights) before windows "whirli-gig' shows and the lock screen is displayed.»  I added nothing to the HP operating system install.  I have completed the installation, created an account local, rebooted (expected in excess of an hour), then ran Windows Update.  This restart took 3 hours.   Now, I just changed the name of the computer for my small internal computer 5, two printers network that requires a reboot.  I'm still waiting for the lock screen 30 minutes.

I looked at the structure of the disc and it was flat out WEIRD!.  It is a GPT, with the SYS partition from 300 MB on the disc a concert of empty, then a recovery of 10 GB partition whose drive letter is not editable.  The recovery disc has three entries in the Disk Manager pointing to two "partitions" - one vacuum 900 MB and letters 10 GB recovery partition.

Ooops, now I have a white screen with system information, followed by the line

"SERVICE--------------------------------------------------"

then SN SKU, UUID, Asset Tracking, tag, feature Byte, the system card ID property.

I guess that means a bad product?

Should I send it back?

Turns out being a defective hardware.  (He finally 'abandoned' with the POST error: "fatal MCA 929)
("CBO / error LLCO in Core CPU0 671 08864 L2 Cache data read error CPU0" after be turned on for 45 minutes a day.)

So I got an RMA number, built-in unit upward and he dropped off at FedEx with prepaid labels sent HP.  The next day, they called a refund.  Apparently, since I ordered without GFX card, they exchange any defective units within the first 30 days, as indicated in the web store.  So I had to duplicate the configuration of a new order.

The bad news was, after a 19-day wait for the new, spent almost 5 days trying to get the thing to work properly (or give some concrete as to info if the problem was software, hardware, defective product, or pilot error) then having to re - order the work station, the price increased by $200 for exactly the same product.

I am now waiting on a replacement for the z800 croaked again, so it will be probably 5 to 6 weeks from the time he died just to operate the replacement hardware (laptops and tablets do not replace, I ASSURE you) and another month before I get all the apps back, configured and working "as usual."   So a total of 10-11 weeks of much reduced productivity due to a failure of the workstation – think seriously about having a 'rescue' just in case.

In any case, I guess we get at this as "resolved".

    Hi Jean did.

I suggest that you contact Toshiba support for help with the recovery process.

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/home.jsp

If you are able to solve the problem of recovery process and the laptop still crashes at startup, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • 64-bit Windows 7 system takes 10-15 minutes to start

I had the same install of Windows 7 on my desktop since 2009. The Office has faced a lot of hardware upgrades. I replaced the video card three times, the main hard drive once and last year updated card motherboard and CPU. That the last change in particular has many victims, adding 3 or 4 minutes to start time.  I'm looking for more than 10 minutes when I hit the power button when the Office has completely loaded and the system is usable.

A few months ago, I reduced my startup time of 15 minutes to 9 minutes to uninstall Avast (that I replaced with Windows Defender). However, it has been creeping upward again. In recent days I uninstalled a lot of old software, cleaned my temporary files, used CC Cleaner to solve some problems of register and clean unnecessary files more and used the Autoruns utility to eliminate many services and drivers that I need not running when you start Windows. I did not notice an improvement in startup time; in fact, it seems slightly less good, but maybe it's my imagination. In general, it takes about 6 minutes to get to the deskop visible mission and another + 5 minutes for desktop computer to be fully charged and all usable.

I have a software minimum run at startup: Windows Defender, DataColor SpyderUtility and Realtek HD Audio manager.

This is my work computer and I can't save 40 hours or more, he would have to reformat the hard drive, reinstall Windows, download all updates for Windows, download and install Adobe Creative Suite, Studio Android, Android SDK, Git, Mercurial, FlashDevelop, the AIR SDK, Eclipse, MAGIX Music Maker and many other utilities.

When I push the first option, there is a quick blue screen, which disappears too quickly to read the music. Finally the resumption of failure screen comes back. in the alternative, there is a system that is said; Recovery Options screen It cannot start the program installated. Click Ok to shut down the computer.

How can I solve this problem?

    Hi hans_3,

Maybe something has confused the Windows registry or some important system files and thus, you can t more to start Windows or start the system repair option.

I think in this case it of necessary to reinstall Windows. Therefore, you can take the Toshiba recovery disc that brings your computer back settings factor o where all the drivers and tools are already installed but it erases the entire HARD disk.
It only takes a few minutes and needs just a few clicks.

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite A660-158 - cannot start Windows

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A660-158. It has served me less than a week. I think it's the broken hard drive.

    My problem:
Once I start the computer, it started and has worked for a while, but suddenly, there was an error reading that I didn't have the time. Computer has been restarted. And does not load... Until the boot mode does not reach. But the initial test (with logo) succeeded. Takes a long time and finally gives an error:
    -----
Cannot start Windows. Maybe it was because of the recent small difference is the hardware or software configuration. To fix this error:
    1. Insert your Windows installation disc, restart the computer (the complete transmission wasn't)
    2. choose the language settings, and then click Next.
    3. Select "repair your computer".
If this disk is missing, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer (he turned and said to wear to the DEPOT, but I do not have this feature).

Details: Unable to start menu, since the required device is inaccessible.

    Hey,.

And why do you think the hard drive is faulty?
Have you ever tried the repair your computer option? Usually with this option you can restore factory in a few minutes.

Also if you have the Toshiba recovery disc you can also restore the factory of this disc. Just boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen. You need to do a few clicks only, installation with all the drivers and tools happen automatically.

If you have any other questions, please let us know! :)

  • Satellite C650-1CP - cannot start Windows

My C650, running on Windows 7 could not start properly today. When turn on/off he went to the Windows Error Recovery screen and gave me two options: run a startup repair and start Windows normally. I clicked on the repair option and on the bottom it says windows is loading files, then it's another loading screen, and finally to a black screen, which, after a few seconds, a cursor appears. No matter how long I left my laptop on nothing changes. So I decided to choose the second option, and he went to the splash screen windows with the logo of the movement. This form lasted around a minute, and then a blue screen with an error, which is then passed to a black screen. To see this error, I completely disabled the auto reboot on system failure in the F8 options and once restarted, he took me to the same error page.

On the blue screen error was as follows:
    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

She was followed by information saying that it's maybe a software / hardware problem and also to try safe mode.

Technical information at the bottom were the following:

    STOP: 0X000000ED (0XFFFFFA8003DDFA50, 0XFFFFFFFFC0000185, 0 X 0000000000000000, 0 X 0000000000000000)

I don't have a recovery disk, if I looked on websites have said recovery is built in. I also tried safe mode, repair your computer, last known config and other options in the F8 key, but these do not properly load and I end up on the black screen with a cursor again.

I had originally to Exchange my laptop in a week to buy it because it was defective and I had a little less than 11 months, I wonder if there is a solution to this problem and also know if I am covered under warranty for this problem. Thank you.

    Hey,.

Bluescreens are mainly problems of software or drivers so I think that reinstalling Windows would help to get rid of this.

Why you don t have a Toshiba Recovery disk? I mean in the user manual it clearly written that you have create such a floppy yourself and it only takes a few minutes and you need to blank DVDs. All that s.

The recovery disk contains an image of the settings from the factory with all the drivers and tools. It is an image pre-tested by Toshiba so everything will work after the installation of recovery. With this record, you are on the safe side.

Anyway, you can order a recovery disc here:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

Software problems are not covered by the warranty. Of course, you can make the laptop to an authorized service provider and guys are going to reinstall to factory settings, but you have to pay for this service.

  • Satellite C650 cannot start Windows

Hi and thanks for reading this post.

I had a Satellite C650 laptop with Windows 7 and inside the h2o bios, works fine for about a year now. The problem, as this post came yesterday when I was using the laptop as usual. At one point, it seemed that the computer worked very hard (fan noise, could not click on anything) and it lasted about a minute or two until what I tried Ctrl + Alt + Delete, who don't do anything. 5 minutes later an error window pops up saying that CTRL + Atl + Del could not be run at this time. I could not click on anything whatsoever and a s Malwarebyte (anti-malware software) had opened, although I couldn't read what he says since I couldn't click on anything. I held the power until the computer closed and proceeded to restart.

A window asking me if I wanted to start windows normally, I said yes, but after the Toshiba usual loading screen, nothing happened (blue screen dark without the usual windows start icon) I left it running for 15 minutes, but still nothing. He retried a couple of times off the computer with the power button (this time is not to ask me if I wanted to run windows normally) and still the same thing.

For some strange reason, I can not start mode safe mode using f8 because f8 simply do nothing. Tried the f2 boot configuration, but nothing seems to be no relief at the moment.

Thanks a lot if you can provide some tips on how to solve this problem.

    -Vincent

    Hello

Pressing F2 should allow you to access the BIOS.
The F2 key must be pressed immediately after that the laptop has been powered.
It work? You can access the BIOS?

If this is not possible, you can pass the hypothesis that this could be a hardware problem.
In the worst cases that the motherboard may be affected or device connected to the motherboard as RAM.

Solution? Good RAM could be verified using new modules, but if you have no spare parts available for this test, then I recommend to ask a technician for verification of material.

Your warranty is valid? If so, don t waste time and get in touch with the service people.
