• Palm Zire 71 and Windows 7 - device is not recognized

  The computer does not recognize the device. It's like the USB port isn't there.  Nothing wrong with the port or connections.  Is this a compatibility issue with Windows 7 and the Palm Zire 71?

  Palm Zire 71 is compatible with Windows 7 32 - bit system but incompatible with the 64-bit system.

  I suggest to uninstall the installed driver for Palm Zire 71 software and reinstall them using once more.

  Also, connect the device to another computer in Windows 7 and check if it works very well.

• Zire 72 and tom tom gps

  Can someone please tell me how to get the tom tom gps to work on my Zire 72.I tried too much Palm desktop 4.1.4 original and most recent version. I have install disk one he said to hotsync to complete and I get nothing, no icon Tom tom on the handheld? ... Is it because of vista?... anyone using these with vista with any success. I appreciate any help I can, I searched and I'm so frustrated I think to walk on my laptop to put me out of his misery...

  Thanks for the reply, I actually got the program working last night.the only thing that was missing was that you must remove and reinstall ther SD card since the Zire 72 after you download the program on your handheld, otherwise the TOM TOM icon willo never appear on the main screen. Vista seems to have a long fine with Palm Desktop 4.1 I downloaded... I bought the 72 as a refurbished unit and also GPS as a refurb, so the quick start guide was not in the box. IWAS able to tackle the problem after downloadind quick start guide online, the GPS works very well...

• To establish between Zire 72 and Outlook 2007.

  I am running Version 4.1.4 but can't seem to implement the conduit from Palm to Outlook 2007.  My last HotSync a error that outlook 2007 is not supported.  I spent some time on the phone with Palm, they said to go to http://kbpalm.com and enter the Code 8716 Solution.  When I did it, I got an error message saying that the item does not exist.  The agent said that she was unable to help.

  Is there another way to set up the conduit?

  You will still need to download and install the Outlook 2007 Office of Palm conduits that I had listed in a previous post.

  Palm desktop 6.2 release includes outlook 2007 lines, but is not listed as compatible for your handheld. 6.2 also reported data loss.

  After reset my Zire 21 and made Hot Sync from my PC, all instructions on your handheld are in English, but on PC are in French (all data are always in French. No problem).

  Please what should I do to change the language of the Instructions?

  You must reset the Zire 21 tough and erase all data.  If you have a model International (EFIGS), you will see an option to choose the language when the device restarts.

  If the Zire 21 is an "American" model, then English is the only language it has installed.

  To perform a hard reset:
  
  By now the power down button, press on and release the Reset button on the back and continue to press the Power button. When the gray Palm logo is displayed, you can release the Power button.
  
  You should now see the warning in 5 languages page. Press the direction upward on the 5-way keypad to perform the task. The Palm restarts several times as it re - install the original programs and erases all data from your previous.

  Make a HotSync to return data from the user for the device.

  Hardware support, including but not limited to all the drivers and other software, is manufacturer of the equipment.  Microsoft did not your Palm Zire m150 - so that they do not support.  ;-)

  No guarantee.  The product just did not had been supported officially... and it's almost 11 years (since its release).

• Limitation of music download - Zire 31 expansion card

  I use a Zire 31 and connection USB Dell MusicMatch to try to download MP3s on my card for the expansion of 1 GB and several problems.  Help on one of them would be much appreciated.

  I got about 300 MB on the card, but it does not load the songs more. I tried to use Add files, synchronization, drag-and-drop/HotSync, even Windows to put new music on the map and none of it works.  I tried it with a direct link and also using a card reader.  (The only other file on the map is for Palm Launcher, whose properties are displayed as having no content.)

  Also, when I try to use RealOne, I get an "unsupported media type" for MP3 files, when I try to download songs and when I try to transfer MP3s with MusicMatch.  But when I use the file type of RA, the Zire does not display these songs.

  Finally, even when I have the player on Random he plays the same songs of 15 or more rotating.  If I hear anything else, I need to select in the list of songs.

  I did not take anything else in the manuals, online, or in the community forums.  Someone at - it experience or ideas?

  The lock switch is on the map?  (The little white toggle on the side).

  The card is full?

• Zire 21 HotSync with vista 64-bit via infrared?

  I found here many information on vista64 infrared sync for ZIRE 22 and 31. Does anyone know if this works also with ZIRE 21? It is a very simple model, but I just like it, and I really don't need a new and 'better' pocket pc or a smartphone. I was very happy to use my zire several years without any problems. Thanks for your replies.

  Infrared is a standard of the IR on the z22 is the same whether on the Zire 21, so if it works on that it should work on the other.

  I inherited a Palm Zire 71 of my daughter, she bought an IGo instead. I think I will love it, even though I have a few questions and I will start with the first. Because I'm naïve on the amount of memory the Zire has and also because I'm not interested to fill with stuff, can I use a SD card as much as I use a Flash drive for storage of programs, data, images and music and going from one computer to the other. If I want to put some pictures on an SD card and bring back them to the Palm, can I do? How this is done. If I wanted to put an ebook from my computer to an SD card can I then read it on the Palm? Even with the music. How are flexable Palms still? Thank you very much for your HELP.    Ginny

  Hello and welcome to the community of support of Palm... and in the world of Palms.

  Your questions are the basis, and while I'll try to answer them briefly here you might as well visit the Zire 71 below the support page link, take a look at the User Guide and all the other goodies you will find.

  1. The Zire 71 has 16 MB internal memory.  Only about 13 of that is available to the user because the operating system takes the rest.
  2. You can use an SD card to store data such as photos, music, and third-party applications and data.  But you cannot use a storage card to store regular Palm PIM data (PIM = manage personal information) such as calendar, contacts, memos, etc.
  3. The Zire can read electronic books as long as you have an electronic book reader and books are in a format readable by the drive.  The Zire comes with Palm Reader for eBooks.
  4. The Zire can play MP3s with RealOne Player included for Palm.  They're not protected files as the files you burn your own CDs.  There are also other readers mp3 Palm there... some free and some not.  I like the best is www.pocket-tunes.com .  It is the most feature-rich, but is not free.  If you have a SD card reader on your PC, the best way to put your music on the map for the Zire to play is to drag and drop the your desktop to the audio folder on your card.
  5. Size of the SD card is important... the Zire 71 can only read and write in regular SD cards as large as 1 GB.  Cards that are labeled "SDHC" 'broadband' will not work.

• Connection to a wi - fi network

  I have a palm Zire (M150) and recently noticed the network under preferences option. I have a Wi - fi connection at home, but I don't know how to connect to the device. I also noticed that my ISP (Bell) is not listed. is this a problem?

  Zire isn't a Wi - Fi device. I suspect the network you see is for connection to a modem via IR for the 'network HotSync' function which is largely unsupported at this point. I'm sorry.

• Delete downloads

  I have a Zire 71 and installed a few programs for some reason any do not work.  How to power off?  The icons are there but no program real.

  Hello..  Welcome to the forums of Palm.  To remove files on your Zire to go home from the screen and type in the upper right of the screen and should have a delete option.  Lists all the files on the device and you can delete the files from there.  If that isn't for you will need to do a hard reset. Remember, if you do a hard reset, you must synchronize the first that he will remove all data from your Zire.  If you need help with the hard reset, go to solution kb.palm.com 887 id.

• The Zire 31 data transfer and Tungsten E

  I am trying to get a Tungsten E to replace my broken Zire 31.  Can I easily sync my Contacts, calendar, data spending my Zire 31 office to the new office of Tungsten E and combined after installation of the software? or the installation of the new will scan all my existing data?

  Anybod was able to get the software for a Zire 72 work on a Windows 7, 64-bit system yet?

  Zire 72 s - loyal and reliable (and depends on...).  Would not synchronize with my new laptop of 64-bit Windows 7 - Home Premium version (grossly misnamed because it is the very basic common denominator for the PC version).

  1 - bought him 'anytime upgrade' to 'Professional' - about $90 at Staples

  2 - updated mobile - very long and hard, but finally worked and now says "professional" on the splash screen.  The upgrade process is mysterious and klutsy, but I finally got to work on my 4th try

  3 - Ran the emulator XP (VM) - he ran the first time I tried

  4 downloaded Palm Desktop (version, 6.something) and even installed

  5 - ran the Palm Desktop and then clicked on "USB" at the top of XP - recognized the Zire.

  6. it synced!  Glory be...

  No IRd, no Bluetooth, no material.  Only $$ to Microsoft to get one of their products to do what she should have done in the first place.

• Help recover the data of Zire 21 with dead touchscreen and no connectivity or requests

  My old Zire 21 was suddenly no longer meets the stylus on the touch screen, so I can raise no longer any application to do a HotSync to save my data (and my old hotsynched data has been saved on another computer and doesn't have a lot of added information about the Zire).  I can still put the on and turned off and I can get to the calendar and address book using the buttons, but I can't be sure that the machine is always in charge when connected by a USB cable and I can't get the Zire to use HotSync to perform a HotSync operation.  Also, when I try to connect the Zire via the USB cable, it is not recognized as connected (it does not appear in the list of connected devices).  I tried the two running a business card inside the screen to dislodge dirt and do a soft restart, both without effect.  Anyone have an idea how I can get my data out the Zire21 and on the Palm desktop, I downloaded on my current computer, so that I won't lose data (especially if the Zire is discharged soon)?  And if I do, do anyone know how I can then download the information to my new Gmail account?  Thanks in advance.

  As if by magic, it just started working again.  Prayer seems to be an effective remedy for this problem...  And backup solves the problem, if it happens again.
