300 to 700 RAID migration

is it possible to upgrade RAID 300-700 RAID without reinstalling OS or image? Can I put the 700, reconnect the cables to the new card and keep the power active?

Thank you

Yes, but must be ready (I assume that you installed Windows) to bare metal.

  • PX6 - 300 d - double Raid 1 is not possible?

Hi guys, I hope I'm missing something, so I'm tender hand to support community. I've had a px6 for awhile now. I love. Works very well with VMWare hypervisors. I've been running a RAID 1 and a RAID 5 for over a year without any problems.

Now, my needs have changed. I run 2 raid-1 matrices. I deleted my raid-5 array and don't see Ano option in the list to create another Raid-1. Why is this? I see raid-10, but not what I need. Just another Raid-1.

In my case, I need to divide the disk IO system in another array of disks in raid1. Simply becoming the current Raid1 is not enough, because there a lot of requests for e/s which should not weigh down the second raid-1 array. I need raid1 because of the performance and the protection it offers.

Can someone comment on the creation of another array of Raid-1? I hope that I don't need to buy another NAS compete for this task.

    Thanks for the tips!

Figured it out. There is a bug in the GUI. Once you have 1 raid-1 array configured, there is no option to create an another raid-1 array. BUT, if you select a new table and set of raid-10, it can reset to raid-1 on the creation. I have now 2 tables separated from Raid1 created by doing it this way. They are NOT wiped off of mirrors raid-10.

  • Change RAID 0, RAID 1

I have a HP M7567c with a RAID configuration. Originally it was set up as a RAID0 (Striping). I would change in RAID1 (mirror).

I didn't find anyway to do it easily.

    Issue.

The windows recovery resets the RAID, so I can do RAID1?

Is there another way to do this?

    Basic information

OS: windows XP Media Center Edition

    HD: 2 300 g drive Raid 0

If you want to migrate from Raid 0, Raid 1, here are the steps:

    1. first create a backup of your files

    2. create a set of recovery disks

    3. remove the existing table (Raid configuration) via Bios Raid or a GUI utility Raid (matrix of Intel or NVIDIA)

    4. create a new table

    5 perform the system recovery

    6. restore the backup files

  • Adding space with bigger hard drives with 3WARE 9650SE RAID

My original installation of Windows 7 is on a RAID 10 set up using 4 640 GB drives on a 3Ware 9650SE RAID card.  I replaced the drives one at a time with 1 TB drives, leaving reconstruction table each time before adding another.   Now that all 4 are in place, I would have a little less than 2 TB of space, but it does not appear.  Win7 is installed on a 200 GB partition, with the rest of the disk space showing that GB 972 yet (that I use for file storage).   Any thoughts on how to extend this option to use all the available space under the name more storage RAID 2?  I does not appear under management of the reader and does not help the 3DM 2 with resizing tool.  This has worked well for the RAID migration when on the SATAs motherboard, but it's another controller.   I would prefer not to have to reload Windows to use the extra space.

The issue is due to backplane having a bad rider on the expansion of the plant.  To correct this remove J15 the C2100 3.5 "bottom of basket, or backplane C2100 2.5 J7".  Refer to the below pictures to help locate the jumpers.

    3.5 "

    2.5 "

  • Is it possible to migrate an application and drop one of the three types of plans?

Migrating applications is 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2.300.  Try to migrate an application and a company wants to only 2 of the 3 types of regime to be brought back.  Is there a way to do this?  Or to remove or hide the type of 11.1.2.2.300 if all 3 are migrated on?

Here is what has been tried, but he cuased a problem in the DB:

    • Migrate an existing application that originally had 3 types of plan. Plan dropped type 1 and kept plan types 2 and 3

    • Created 2 types of plan when creating the application in 11.1.2.2

    • Initially built the contour using 11.1.1.3 LCM export dimensions and had to modify the XML to import. Edited plan 2 and made this plan type 1. Edited plan 3 and made this plan type 2. Had problems with the LCM/xml and finally finished by using the extractor contour and loading by using the outlineload utility. Dimensions are now based.

    • Initially, wrong Bishop Calc. To change the value of the hsp_systemcfg for the type of plan table = 2 instead of 3 as it was in the table.

    • Calc Mgr shows that type of plan 2 and no plan to type 1.

    Any ideas?

Probably the best way to rebuild the application and then reload the hierarchies or hack files XML of LCM, if 11.1.2.3 then you would be able to create/delete plan types.

    See you soon

  • RAID 5 performance problem

    Hello

I am not very savvy storage but I have a performance problem, and I don't know where to look...

I have 2 x Esx 4 server, are twice as much HP Proliant dl380 G5 with local storage

    first to have 8 x 146 g in raid 5 and I can receive 70000 Kbps

    Second 4 x 300 g in raid 5 and I can only had 10000 Kbps

The first is 7 times faster why?

The battery allows to use write cache. There is the huge performance without cache enabled writable. I don't think that you can activate the cache in writing on these controllers without the battery. Without a battery and the cache in write on you would trash your VMDK if the power is out or you did a hard power down.

    What I have:

    2. two hard disks 300 GB SAS - RAID 0 (I need not redundancy)

    3. 2 300 GB drives form 1 Virtual Disk capacity VD0 about 580 GB

    Requirement:

Now, I bought a new SAS 300 GB HD which I want to add to the already existing ESX configuration. I want this 300 GB for the 2nd (MON) datastore again so that I can create a few more VMs on this data store. I don't want to re - install ESX installation complete (if possible)

    What I tried:

    1. a way that I can create a new ramdisk on this 3rd 300 GB SAS HD so that I can add it to the ESX via VM Infrastructure Client data store. -Does not work: (.) Also simple plug-and-play of the drive does not work as the ESX is not able to scan the HD if I simply just add it on the drive and run ESX

I am a newbie so please let me know if you guys need more info to solve my prob.

  • How long does take to dismantle and re-scan a single data store

    Hi all

I am currently using vSphere 5.0 to manage 3 x 5 ESXi hosts. I am trying to use the host VM 2 for surebackup data store and virtual laboratory of Veeam. I had already used the same data store and removed. Now try when I set up again on the same data store, it generates the error Create NAS Datastore - specified key, the name or the identifier already exists.

After reading about the issue, I've seen the way to solve this must dismantle and Reanalyze the data store that produces the error. As I've never done this before that I was wondering if someone could share their own experiences? I need to move the exisitng s VM from the data store before I have to dismount and perform a new analysis or any point throughout this process?

Some details on the data store:

Composed of disks SAS 4 x 300 GB in RAID 5 with a total of 831,50 Gb. There are 8 VM running on this server using 400 GB on the Go 831,50. 4 virtual machine are essential and must be operational during the time leading to opening (9 - 5.30 pm). These total 222 + 39 + 33 + 69 = 363 GB. The data store is not shared between hosts.

The migration of virtual machine for the other guests, I'm able to estimate (if necessary). What I'm really interested in is the length of time that it will dismantle and Reanalyze the data in question store.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    Haydn

You must move the virtual machines before you take it apart

or close the virtual machine and to unsubscribe to esxi.

given that the data store is not shared, you must do the migration of data store for virtual machines such as migration cold.

Disassemble and analyze new shouldn't take more time, let's say less than 2 minutes if each works fine.

  • After 5 months of use... "You must allow replacing existing data to start using this device"

I currently have a very disturbing system status:

"You must allow replacing the existing data to begin to use this appliance.

"Are you sure you want to overwrite existing data?"

The unit shall be set up a 8TB ix4 - 300 d in RAID (I forgot the number). I am still able to access and read / write from the network, and as far as I know that no other messages indicate that none of the drives failed.

How can I solve it without risking the 2 TB of data? What happens if I click on OK?

    Hi whitby,.

The first thing I recommend you to do is backup your data even if it is still available and you can access and read/write to the device. Your unit is probably in RAID 5 because this is the default value for the device. With RAID 5, you can lose a single drive and be able to continue to access your data, but if another hard drive were to fail, your data will be lost and you need data recovery.

Once your data is backed up on a second location, you should be fine to replace the existing data and to rebuild the RAID. The real problem is that the drive is most likely a failure and it will be replaced soon. If you are covered by the warranty, I would recommend contacting technical support to send in a log dump so they can get more information from device to see if the hard drive needs to be replaced. The warranty covers the replacement of the hard disk. Otherwise, you will need to get a replacement of the hard disk that is the same manufacturer, speed, and as long as the original disks.

  • PowerEdge R320 - S110 PERC upgrade to PERC H710

I installed a H710 PERC integrated in my R320, which originally shipped with the S110 PERC.  The controller recognizes the 2nd virtual disk, but not the first, which is the boot drive.  It just shows that the 2 discs unconfigured.  Both work very well when I plug the cable into the S110.  What Miss me?

    Hello

Between the S110 and H710 RAID migration is not supported. You will need create new virtual disks on the H710.

    Environment: 2 x FI6296; 2 x 5108 with 6 B200M3 each. All servers have the local drive to 2 x 300 GB SAS, RAID 1.

  • Switch the disk in servers without losing content

    Hello

Need to change the hardware of server on a couple of servers and wanted to just change disks, and if all goes well he wouldn't be able to start on the new server.
But this isn't the case :(

I took 2 disks (RAID 1) of a UCS B200M3 and put it in a B200M2 UCS, but everything was gone in the disks when I started the server.
There is no policy of scrub applied on any of the servers.

How I did it, was that I've disabled 2 servers, (B200M3 - Windows and B200M2 - ESXi) and separated from Service profile. So I swapped the drives and associated Services profiles again (now: B200M3 - ESXi and B200M2 - Windows)

None of the servers worked when I started again.

If all understand what I tried to do, please help, if there is a way to do this.

    Concerning

    Stig

    Hi Stig,

The reason why you have lost data from your hard drive in because as you move them between a M2 a M3 blade. These blades do not use the same raid controller, so it is expected that you will lose data. Not only that, as explained in the below installation guide raid migration (go to hard drive installation section) between the blades M1, M2 and M3 is not supported. Please let me know if you have any questions.
