It gives me a message failure scan noting that it could be the connection to the computer (which is not the case), scan app on mac is in use (I don't think), OCR app is not installed on the mac (what is this?). I don't know where to start. Please notify. Thank you.

    Hello @Robert34!

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I would be happy to provide assistance about scanning with your Officejet 8610 to the Mac computer.  Software OCR stands for optical character recognition.  It's text-recognition software in a scanned image, so you can change it.  Unfortunately, it is not available for the Mac, but it should not prevent you from being able to scan.

I recommend that you check the HP on the Mac utility to see if the scan of the computer is turned on.  To open HP utility go in your application and click on the Hewlett-Packard folder.  In the Hewlett-Packard folder, you should be able open HP utility.  Once you have the HP utility open click on Manage scan of the computer to see if it is enabled.

If you are unable to scan, then I recommend using the Image Capture to scan.  Image capture is also located in the folder of the Application on your Mac.  You can also locate it by typing Image Capture in the spotlight (magnifying glass) in the upper right corner of the Mac.  Image capture to start the analysis of the Mac.  It has more options and settings for scanning and saving.

Once you are in the Image Capture, select your scanner on the left side of the window.  It can be located under shared.  Once the scanner is selected, you should be able to change all settings on the right side before you click scan.  Below is a screenshot of what picture Capture looks like and all available parameters.  If you have not any settings that you should be able to click on show details at the bottom of the window.

  • OfficeJet Pro scan 8610: 8610 computer software not found

Hi - I have a fairly new Officejet Pro 8610 and it uses a wireless network with a MacBook Pro. Wireless printing function works perfectly; and, as a first step, the it function analysis did too. Without apparent reason, has now ceased to work, and every time I try to activate using the HP app, I get an error message indicating that the required software/driver is not found on the computer. However, I re-downloaded and installed the driver full value several times on the site of HP (no effect). The computer always communicate perfectly with the printer, and I'm able to activate the scan through the Mac system preferences function.

    Any help gratefully received...

    Hey @pleigh20,

    Welcome to the HP forums!

I see that you have problems with your Officejet Pro 8610 scanning your Mac 10.9. I can help you with that.

Given that you have a problem scanning I want to make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. Once this is done, we will do everything that follows.

    3. Run Uninstall HP if it is present.
    4. Go to Applications and utilities.
    5. Open disk utility.
    6. Click "Macintosh HD" on the left.
    7. Click on verify disk permissions. It will take about ten minutes.
    8. Click on repair disk permissions. It will take about ten minutes.
    9. Restart your Mac.
    10. Go to your Apple icon and the software updates. Download the updates that are found.
    11. Download and run the HP Installer (if you need the link you can click here).

    Hello

This can happen for several reasons, most common duration to a problem with the registry permissions.

I would suggest trying the following tool, it is a 3rd party utility that analyze and repair registry permissions, and so you can use it at your own risk (I used it several times without any problems):

    http://www.MajorGeeks.com/mg/getMirror/tweaking_com_reset_registry_permissions, 1.html

Click the Start button and let a few minutes (it may take some time, about 5-10 minutes), the journal stated: "" once it ends.

Then try to reinstall the HP software and check for the difference.

If the same continues I suggest contacting HP sopport to continue such troubleshooting.

    Hello @GGSA!

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I would be happy to provide you with some suggestions that can help solve the problem!  There may be a slight problem with the software.  I know that you have reinstalled the drivers, but I suggest you uninstall the HP software. Once the software uninstalled I recommended to perform a "repair disk permissions" on your Mac. A repair disk permissions is a utility built into the operating system Mac designed to detect and resolve problems or errors. After that permission to repair disc is finished, reboot your Mac computer and re-install the software.

To uninstall the software HP click here: uninstall the HP software

To perform a repair authorization disk click here: repair disk permissions

To download the HP software, click here: Officejet 8610 software and driver

After the installation I recommend that you check the software updates on the Mac. To search for software updates, click the icon "Apple" to the left and click on the "app store". In the app store, you can click on the "updates" at the top of the window. Updates install and Hp or a printer. After the update, you must restart the computer.

  • Want 5660: Software HP "patches" changed my setup without warning or explanation

All trying to solve a problem with my printer series HO want 5660, I ran the HP Print application and doctor Scan and him allowed to update my software.

The behavior of the application behind my icon 'Series HP Envy 5660' is now different.

Prior to the update of the software, this icon has launched an application that allowed my to manage my printer, doing things like checking ink levels, check the settings and much more.
After the update of the software, this icon only of the choice to connect a new printer, reconfigure the wireless settings, or add more software.

I have experienced and fixed me my problem.

The problem occurred when I ran printing HP and doctor Scan. This 'well designed' software, announced it was changing the configuration of my port. HE DID NOT IDENTIFY WHICH CHANGED, GIVE THE USER THE POSSIBILITY TO ACCEPT THE CHANGE, OR AN OPTION FOR HER. I certainly will not use the utility again and am unlikely to buy another HP product because of bad software.

Anyway, I solved the problem by removing the printer that has been automatically added to the configuration of my little time after that I configured the printer. and reconfigure the printer that I added manually to use a standard TCP/IP printer port.

The printer automatically added himself moments later. «The printer is called: "HPCE5020", which is a "printer web services", configured to use port "TH4AL680Q7064T", desctibed as the re-discovery of HP network port monitor»

E series icon HP Envy 5660 now opens the HP printer Assistant, as it should.
