  • Problem with OpenManage integration for vCenter - OMSA status: update required

    Hello

We have a problem with the configuration of OpenManage integration on a vSphere 5.5 U2 Cluster. We have deployed IMO for vCenter v 2.3.0 build 290 aircraft, and we have installed manually OMSA VIB v7.4.0.2 on our 5.5. U2 ESXi hosts.

The question we face is respect for vSphere host - when we start the Wizard "Fix Non compliant vSphere Host" it displays the correct version of the OMSA - 7.4.0.2 but OMSA status is "required update".

Whe test us the connection to hosts using "Test the connection profile", it hangs at 0% and will be never finished.

Also in the OpenManage integration in vSphere Client "Frimware" tab option is grayed out.

Please indicate how we can make this work?

    Concerning

    Milan

Well, I did some research more and found that ESXI 5.5 U1 and U2 don't are not supported by OMSA right now.

    FTP://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_software/esuprt_virt_solutions/Dell-Mgmt-plugin-for-VMware-Center-2.3_Release%20Notes_en-us.PDF

ESXi 5.5 U1 and U2 are supported only for the OMIVV on the servers of 12th and 13th generation who are capable of out-of-band management and require no OMSA must be installed on the host system. We intend to add a supported of the OMSA version at a later date.

  • Update the vmWare tools in VoP via vCenter

I'm still new to this community and I hope I'll catch up here soon, but I'm not sure of the update process the vmtools on the device of VoP. I know once I spunt'sand he upwards and configured the IP etc, the vCenter as the tools were obsolete. Tonight is our night of patch management and we'd get VoP abreast, as far as tools go. What is the process to get this done? Do I just shoot vCenter or are there steps to perform on the server of VoP so.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi David,

You can update VMWare Tools on the device in the same way as you would for any virtual machine of OpenSUSE Linux.  This can be done manually from the console if vCenter may not withdraw that, alone.

    I hope this helps!

  • Service component of VMware Manager fails to start in vCenter Server 6 Update 2

    Hello

A brief idea of my test environment:

    VCenter servers:

    VC1 - recorded at the psc1 in Site1

    VC2 - recorded at psc2 in Site2

    External Services platform controllers:

    psc1 - Site1

    PSC2 - Site2

    SSO domain: vsphere.local

I upgraded from vCenter Server 5.5 update 3d to vCenter Server 6.0 Update 2. VCenter 5.5 servers had integrated / embedded of SSO and all services running on the same machine and were in modes related before the upgrade and I have them removed modes related before the upgrade. They have been upgraded to vCenter Server 6.0 with Embedded PSC and they entered automatically improved Linked Mode (ELM).

After the previous step, I deployed the PSC external psc1 respectively 2 and psc2 mode of replication with vc1 and vc2 in the same site Site1 and Site2. I migrated then boarded two PSC vCenter servers to their respective partners external PSC of replication by running the command cmsso-util reconfigure - repoint-PSC "psc1/psc2" - administrator user name - domain name "vsphere.local" - passwd "Hasło_Administratora." This operation ended successfully and my vCenter have been reconfigured as vCenter Server with external CFP.

After that, I followed article KB VMware 2127057 (agreements ofdetermination of replication and the State with the service controller 6.0 platform (2127057) |) The VMware KB) do psc1 and psc2 external replication of the PSC 2 partners either by running the command vdcrepadmin-f createagreement-2--h psc2.clifford.local h psc1.clifford.local u Administrator w 'Hasło_Administratora '. I ran this command psc2. Also, this operation succeeded, and when I ask the State of replication of the psc1 of replication partners and psc2, there is nothing wrong. However, after restarting my vSphere Infrastructure, I see that vc1, psc1 and psc2 have all their services started successfully.

VC2 services seem to be failing, especially the service component manager of VMware which is required for many other services start. The VMware HTTP Reverse Proxy service starts properly and I have no IIS role / feature installed on my machine. The error message that occurs when you try to manually start the service is also attached as a file Error2.JPG in the discussion. The Windows event log error is as deeply as the file Error3.JPG in the discussion.

Please let me know how to solve this problem as soon as possible.

Well, I found a solution myself.

In fact, after I created the external PSC 2 psc1 and psc2 partners of replication of the vc1 and vc2 in Site1 and Site2 respectively, I had to immediately follow section KB VMware 2127057 in order to create a replication agreement between the 2 external to the PSC psc1 and before psc2 I reconfigured and show the vCenter servers vc1 and vc2 of on-Board of the PSC outside the PSC following the VMware Documentation (Center of) VSphere documentation 6.0).

    That's all.

Thanks to all for looking into it.

  • vCenter Update to 5.5U2 to 5.5U3D - SSL issues?

Hi, currently I am planning my vCenters of 5.5U2 to 5.5U3d update.

Are there pitfalls I should be aware of that. I understand that SSL is U3b removed\disabled leave.

Update of the VC directly to 5.5U3d could cause problems with VC connect to current ESXi (U2 2718055) due to SSL TLS change hosts?

Also there are the implications on the 5.8 SRM?

    Thanks in advance!

Update of the VC directly to 5.5U3d could cause problems with VC connect to current ESXi (U2 2718055) due to SSL TLS change hosts?

No, and if you plan to upgrade your hosts you will really need to have your first improved vCenter.

Also there are the implications on the 5.8 SRM?

You should upgrade your SRM version 5.8.1 see: VMware product interoperability Matrices

  • Update vCenter Version but not the hosts?

I work in an environment where we run vSphere Essentials with 3 guests.  Currently, we always run on 2 hosts 5.5 and 5.1 on the third.  We have only a VMWare subscription right now but they helped 6.0.  Without disabling the host licenses, is there a way to get my driver's license for vCenter only so I can get converted from the Windows version of vCenter to the virtual appliance, make sure that everything works and then not worry to modernize 6.0U2 hosts?  I think there is probably a way, but did not want to upgrade all licenses and to cancel licenses for my guests.

If it is useful, we've done installing vCenter database are not use VUM right now (if I want to implement in the future).  Any help is very appreciated.

There is no technical effect in the upgrade of the licenses. When you upgrade a license in the portal, you must confirm that you no longer use the old license. The right way to do the updates is to install the new version in evaluation mode (works for 60 days) and update the license once the old system was arrested.

  • vCenter 5.1 U3 "embedded" Windows-> updated to 6.0 not embedded u2, appliances?

Trying to find documentation, but you're not exactly what I'm looking for - in the hope that you just happen to know!

I need to get a system for 6.0 vsphere vcenter u2 with the version of the device of vCenter and the PSC - currently 5.1 U1a with vcenter and components running on a single windows server SSO.

I know (or believe) that I've upgraded to 5.1 U3 before I can move to 6.0 - but I'm not, of course, is if a 5.1 windows U3 can in fact be upgraded to a PSC embedded and vcenter?

I need PSC upgraded to join an already existing domain of vsphere SSO (the existing system is autonomous).

    So is the path:

updated 1) level up to 5.1 U3, then

    (2) upgrade to vcenter/sso embedded device, then

install 3) new embedded device that has been installed in the existing field of vsphere, then

    (4) re-point the vcenter to newly created standards body?

Tips/pointers/traps to know are all appreciated!

I guess that is not easy and medium among the supported options to go to old windows vCenter to newer device via the process of upgrading (we usually upgrades).

You should probably do a migration.

I did something similar here a few months ago - had a Windows 5.1 VC and necessary upgrading to 6.0 device. Only in my case, the unit was supposed to have a built-in COPS. Anyway, after reading a lot of articles of migration, I ended up using the instant fling of the inventory: InventorySnapshot who doesn't have everything, however saved me a few hours of manual steps.

Where you decide to go the same route (which probably isn't the only option), the General steps could be:

    (1) install a new device 6.0 running PSC

    (2) install a new vCenter1 Unit 6.0 running, add it to the domain SSO of PSC, created in step 1)

    (3) to migrate the objects of the inventory of the former vCenter again

The instant fling of the inventory is not migrate / copy everything. AFAIR it cannot do things like tags and distributed switches (I could be wrong on some of these so check back) but in my case, I was more concerned with the structures of folders and for those that he save me a few hours. Don't me remember now how I moved customization specifications, however that was a script to export / import kind of thing as well. I also used RVTools to create a snap of the inventory before the migration information so that I could easily find all objects where they would get lost during the migration, however I did not.

According to your complex infrastructure and vCenter in use inventory objects, you might have to do more research and work to make a difference to new vCenter. There are a lot of messages and even prepared scripts out there for the migration of vCenter.

    I hope this helps.

  • Please can someone confirm if I can install Update Manager 6 on 5.5 vCenter

    Hello

An environment in which I need to install the Update Manager, so I think to install Update Manager 6 and I vCenter 5.5.

So can you please confirm if I can install 6 on 5.5 vCenter Update Manager.

According to my understanding, it will not happen, but requires the expert advisor.

Matrices of the interoperability of products VMware shows Update manager 6 is only supported with vCenter 6.

However, with a workaround you can get it running with vCenter 5.5 but is not recommended.

  • VCenter Server 5.5 update question

I would like to install my vCenter Server Vsphere Update Manager. I have the Enterprise more of ESXi installed version. I am able to start installing Update Manager installation with worries about licenses or do I have to update my authorization to install the Update Manager? I looked online but I could not find any info on this subject.

    Thanks in advance.

Manager update comes with the ISO of the vCenter Server. The only thing to make sure is that you must have compatible versions of the vCenter and the Update Manager. That is to say, you can install Update Manager with vCenter Server 5.5 5.5 only.

And Yes, it takes a 32-bit DSN to connect to the database.

  • Since update 6.2 (from 6.0) receives not the vcenter data

    Hello

I've recently updated our device because these articles vRealize: How to Patch or upgrade VMware VRealize Operations Manager (vROps). Settlersoman - a colon in the world SDDC. and upgrade vRealize operations - this virtual boy.

When following the instructions that I was faced with the question of the version to download with windows based remote collectors or without. after consulting with the Forum (device update vrops - what should I do about remote collectors?) I finished the upgrade with:

Operations Manager - Virtual Appliance Operating System upgrade - vRealize vRealize_Operations_Manager-GO-OS - 6.2.0.3542056.pak

vRealize Operations Manager - Virtual Appliance (without Windows basic RC) update - vRealize_Operations_Manager - VA - 6.2.0.3528954.pak

After the upgrade, we noticed that vrops has not received updates of our vcenter Server (version 6.0.0 3339083 installed on windows server), graphics, badges, and measures either are not available, with the old values or just empty

    Capture2.PNG:Capture.PNG

I confess that I don't understand that it's on vrops. I mainly use dashboards here and there to resolve different errors, but I started searching and received at the administration screen > management cluster and him, it seems that vrops lost the connection with our vcenter:

    Capture3.PNG

I took a snapshot before the upgrade, but I was told it may not work because the upgrade will update the database as well.

    What should I do?

    My recommendation:

Open a SR on VMware support. May be necessary to adjust it on the postgres database.

    Hello

I ran into a little trouble the upgrade on the server vCenter for the 5.5 last update 3: b

For some reason any it keeps failing when you try to install the Vmware SSO components

Specifically, it seems to be failing on the components of Vmware JRE.

I have attached the screen shot of the error as well as the Setup logs.

Have looked through them and I tried to fine a solution myself, I can't seem to find that everything about the JRE components.

I also tried to install separately from the folder vJRE on the dvd

The server is a Windows 2012 R2 and current vCenter is RTM 5.5

    Any help will be appreciated

@COC, you are right, I should have posted my fix as well

    It's here

In the search for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT of the component that is failing, so for me it was that VMware vCenter Server - Java components

Once you find the right component with the name of the product

You will see a string value called transformations

For me, it was pointing to the folder temp of the local user.

I have just a right click transformations and Delete selected

After that the installation went very well.

He had to do the same for the TC server components too

    Hello

I assume that your customer has forgotten to update the vCenter server before it has updated the hosts.

You must have at least version 5.5 U3b on the vCenter to manage the hosts of these version.
