(8500 a) printer sharing

Do you know if it is possible to simply share 8500 a that I can install it on any computer on the local network, like

\\192.168.0.102\HP8500a\

I use Windows XP.

There is an option for printer sharing, but he then asks for username and password.  I have no idea what they are.

Solved!

Windows XP:

(a) control / printers... / Add Printer / Local printer / uncross taken & pray / create a new TCP port / Standard / IP port / 192.168.0.102 (for above printer name) IP_192.168.0.102:9100 (for under Port name) / add a CD driver (root-level point of just in my case E

192.168.0.102 is the IP address of the printer, you have your own

9100 is the open port

    Hello

We use 3 Macs connected via LAN (Ethernet, we do not use Wi - Fi).

I have connected an EPSON XP-335 via USB to Mac #1, and it prints fine.

On all Macs, I installed the software EPSON printing and active "Sharing printers", via preferences > sharing.

but when I try to print from Mac #2 or #3 I get this message "not connected":

    What should I do?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi coxorange,

Please use the Apple Support communities for help. From your post, I understand that you are unable to access the printer that is connected to one of your iMac, others in the House. I know it's nice to be able to print from all of your devices, so I'm happy to help you to provide advice for this.

From the information you provided, it seems that there is some confusion about the way the printer is shared on your devices. In order to have a shared printer, you must only share from the computer to which it is connected. From there, you can connect to this printer with other computers. Perform these steps on the iMac to which it is attached:

    How to share a printer:

    1. Open sharing preferences if it is not already open (choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Sharing), then check the box print sharing.

    2. Under printers, select the printer you want to share.

When you share a printer, all users on your network ("everyone") can use by default. If you want to restrict access to specific people, go to steps 3 and 4.

    3. Click on the button Add at the bottom of the users list, and then do one of the following:

      • Select a user in users and groups, that includes all your Mac users.

      • Select a user from the network or users groups network, which includes everyone on your network.

      • Select a person in your contacts. Create a password for the person, then click on create an account.

    4. When you add people to the list of users, access to the shared printer is reset to no access for the users of your network ("everyone"). To provide access to everyone again, click the triangles, then choose can print.

    Hi @robgit,

Please check back with the results of your efforts.

You may need to configure the automatic duplexer in the HP printing software.

Discover sone of the procedure described in this document - printing on both sides of the paper (duplex) (OS X). Note: This model of printer supports automatic duplex printing. Scroll down to "How do I duplex automatic if my printer takes in charge?" in the FAQ section.

I did some research on another site, and I came up with the FIX for this issue. It has to do with the node XP somehow getting ready to type "Peer-to-peer". I applied the fix in this article:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/903267

and the problem is now solved.

Please come back and let everyone know how you fixed the end!

However, the fact that this has happened and you don't know how concerned me (if it was my machine).

Here's what I propose for extra cleaning:

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know usingGoogle (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

    Hello

I want to do a network to share files, printer and internet. I have already shared the internet by all connection to the access point devices through wireless and connecting the access point to the cable modem, but I can't share any file or folder.

I tried many things to create a small network of win xp, but I failed.

I have a wireless access point Dap1150 D-Link wireless modem 1 billion for the ADSL2 +, a PC (win xp) with a normal network adapter and an external wireless LAN adapter + a laptop (win 7) which has two cards and support network wi - fi.

Please help I have searched a lot but I couldn't find anything useful.

Since you have a Windows 7 computer too, the network must be configured take into consideration.

The following looks like a long history (it's only 600 words). I know not what is knowledge of the user, and exactly what has been done already. The info go through the motions of the configuration and verify most of the common aspects of the LAN Windows OS features '.

    ----------------------

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please Note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled).
If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic.

If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

    -----------------------------

Network Win 7 with another version of Windows as a work network (works very well if all computers are Win 7 also).

In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.

    Hi Katmandu774,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

The Public folder is a convenient way to share files that are stored on your computer. You can share files in this folder with other people using the same computer and with people using other computers on the same network. Any file or folder you put in the folder Public is automatically shared with the people who have access to your Public folder.

If you are not on a domain, you can limit network access to the Public folder so that people with a user account and password for this computer. To do this, turn on sharing protected by password.

    1. Open the network and sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click network and Internet, click network and sharing Center.
    2. Click the arrow next to password protected sharing, and then click one of the following options:

    ·         Turn on password protected sharing

    ·         Turn off password protected sharing

    1. Click apply. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

To control the level of access to the Public folder

    1. Open the network and sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click network and Internet, click network and sharing Center.

    ·         Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can open files

    ·         Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can open, change and create files

    ·         Turn off sharing (people logged on to this computer can still access this folder)

    1. Click apply. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Also, make sure you add everyone to the public folder and give the necessary permissions to access it.

    In the networking and sharing;

1 is your network set as Public or private? Public restricted the discovery and sharing of settings... Private (home or office} allows full of discovery and sharing, but is more vulnerable, unless a good security is used (encryption key, modem NAT or router). Home networks are usually defined as private. Across your network name, click Customize to change the Private setting.
    2. just under Customize, click State view. To the local connection status area will go up. Click on properties. Is file and sharing printers for MS Networks listed and checked? If it is not installed and checked, you can not share.
