AC ADAPTER HP DV7 OVERHEATING

My adapter is overheating.  is there a way to fix the problem.

Hey jbmjam1,

It is normal that power adapters become very hot. There is a lot of electricity moving through the power brick, with no ventilation, so it will be very hot. If it is too hot to the touch, you must replace it. If you have another adapter laying around or one you could borrow, try it and see if it heats the same way.

IMPORTANT: The AC adapter should not be used if it is hot enough to burn. If you see smoke or sparks, immediately stop using the AC adapter and replace it with a new one.

    Hi all

Since about day 1 when the machine starts, on occasion, the fan would run and stop and go nuts. Happened with any operating system or BIOS I used. I've updated to 8.1 and the latest version of the BIOS and the fan is somebut can hear it again up and down in the RPM, but it runs very slowly at best shortly after the start of the last year. I look at the time and gets over 200F if I try to do a virus scan or something that takes resources. I cleaned the best openings I could and don't think it's a problem of dust... the fan never goes to higher speeds now except for the first 30 seconds, the machine is running, no matter what the read time. In fact, I hear same punishment it run but may feel a little heat coming out of the vent.

I'm looking to change the fan or ventilation for lack of a better solution module. I have these 2 numbers, I found HP parts when I gave my serial number:

Thermo Module 682061-001 for about 46 dollars through HP

Thermo pad 682100-001 for about 66 dollars through HP

OK, what is the complete fan? I guess the pad, but must ensure that it will be the fan with it. I guess the 682061-001 is just the fan, correct?

When I call these numbers on alternative sites it shows complete unity for both numbers and HP shows not all photos of what is what.

Also, is it possible to force the fan on or control it in the installer? I don't see anything, but some of you, experts are much more intelligent I am.

Another question... On the HP parts surfer if I have "add to cart" and want to check out, he gives no price and I can't buy anything except 1 time I arrived and I cannot return to this screen... How the hell anything from parts store HP do you buy? I have included my country of origin, the United States... Try plaids with those numbers and see what you get...

    Thanks a bunch!

I give up. I'll order the 682061-001 and try my luck.

    Thank you

  • Need for new drivers graphics for Satellite L650

    Hi all

I'll explain my situation, I think that many others have this same problem with the toshiba now.
There is 1 year and some months pass after I got my first laptop Toshiba Satellite L650-11F and at first I thought this computer will work without problems for at least 2 years. Well, today I found a 'BIG' problem with the toshiba... I can't install the new drivers for my graphics card AMD ATI Mobility RADEON HD 5650 driver AMD's official website.

Today I buy Battlefield 3 for my machine, but my drivers are old, cannot properly manage the graphics and the solution is to download the new drivers from AMD, but it is impossible. What I'm asking is for the Toshiba Dev new pilots ready AMD download as quickly as possible, because right now, I had in hands a game that was supposed to operate without a problem and the old drivers killed the game completely.

I get all the time new drivers for WIFI all the time, I don't need that. My graphics card is not updates for almost 1 year, is a joke!

It is well known that display or graphic drivers for mobile devices (laptops) should be downloaded from the laptop manufacturer's download page. The proposed drivers should be tested. Many people have reported the same thing, but in general, it is not new.

Mobile units have a specific design built in cooling system is designed to cool the material placed in laptop Briefcase. New strength of graphics card drivers can force a graphics card to run with more power and offer more performance. More performance means more heat. If the cooling cooling system canoe result graphic adapter will be overheating or even damage the equipment.

The reason why the manufacturers of portable don t which s provide drivers of graphics update so often that the manufacturers of cards designed for desktop computers.

Another thing: the series laptops are not the best machines for the games. I have used several laptops from Toshiba in the past, and this is my personal opinion.

  • Power adapter - HP PAVILION DV7-3150EQ

    Hello

I bought the HP PAVILION DV7-3150EQ, and it stops itself almost instantly after the initialization of the operating system (just at the moment where the HP Setup programs starts). I have two suggestions for this topic:

    1. the CPU heats too quickly and the protection of the motherboard turns on and off the computer.

2 in the specification of the product, I noticed the power adapter must have 120 W power (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01997646), but I received with adapter 90 W (adapter fault current may have been replaced by the Distributor, I don't know), and what I think, is that it does not provide the computer with enough power so it shuts down. What I mean, is there a strict rule on food and their use adapters (specified model should be used with the adapter specified etc..)

Can you guide me I just think, or there might be another problem.

I was looking for an explanation on the closure and the motherboard overheating protection seemed reasonable to me. I was wondering is this a common problem or I am luck one of perhaps hundreds of thousands made notebooks with Core i-5?

I removed the battery and left it on the power adapter, but it's the same thing.

I did not understand you completely clear. You mean that even with less powerful adapter(>120 Watts) the laptop should work well, and the battery should be charged, but for once more. Or should I contact my supplier and only get the right adapter (120 Watts).

    Best regards

Contact your provider and ask so he could be replaced by the model in the specifications of the laptop. The 90 Watt power adapter will work, but this isn't what has been specified to be included in the purchase.

I suggest that you try a hard reset

Remove the battery and the AC adapter.

Press and hold the power adapter for > 15 seconds.

Plug the power adapter (with the battery always off)

    Press the laptop power button.

Your laptop is now boot into Windows?

    If it is not then

Press the power button and press the F8 key to enter the BIOS.

If you are able to enter the BIOS and make the memory test.

Please post your results here in your thread.

In addition, laptop is overheating and won t work if adapter isn't plugged in, if I unplug the device, it turns off.

    Any help?

BTW, laptop is 4 years old

    > Also, laptop is overheating and won t work if adapter isn't plugged in, if I unplug the device, it turns off.

This happens even if the battery is charged and connected?
This means that the battery is dead. This would also explain the question why battery does not charge.

I think that the battery needs to be checked at the beginning.

    Regarding overheating:
I guess that the laptop has not been cleaned in the past.
This could be the reason why don t cooling fans work as it should. Dust inside the cooling module prevents the fans run at high performance. I think that's the reason why there is a problem with air circulation.
Then try to clean the fans with a jet of compressed air. This allows to remove dust.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 Bluetooth adapter no longer works

HP Pavilion dv7.  #ABC product number WQ641UA.  My built-in bluetooth stopped working a few weeks ago. It caused an error from Outlook that seems turned off the bluetooth adapter.  Yesterday, the HP support assistant recommends an upgrade of the Bluetooth software for the wireless Broadcom 43224AG card.  Software will not load because it cannot detect the Bluetooth adapter.  I don't know how to re-enable the bluetooth feature.  It does not appear in either the BIOS or Windows Mobility Center.

Yes... seems to be a problem with the hardware only. As a result of the manual, you can also try reinstalling the Bluetooth card once.

You can get the Bluetooth card replaced either by calling technique supports directly or if not under warranty you can order it online at HP parts store. You can buy the piece by calling technical support also.

    HP parts store

Enter the serial number and the number of the product in the link above and it will show you all the spare parts available for your laptop. The contact number for Bank of parts is also listed in the link. If the part is not available it also will show you all dealers allowed to the Canada.

  • Pavilion DV7-3165DX, Atheros AR9285 WiFi adapter, communication and incompatibility issues

After much research, I decided to buy a Pavilion DV7-3065DX. Then, I walked to my local Best Buy to say the 3065DX had been abandoned and was no longer available for purchase. However, the 3165DX, his successor had arrived and was very similar to the previous generation. After a brief discussion to justify the increase of prices with myself, I gave and was sold.

Within hours, I was in College, trying to connect to the WiFi network without success. After several hours becoming more and more frustrated, I decided to call it closes unexpectedly. Rushing home after class, I plugged the new Linksys WRT160N, I had also bought wireless router and configured on my desk. Once completed, I tried to connect using the new Pavilion. To my surprise, it worked! (And no problem whatsoever no less). So, apparently, the wireless adapter works, but does so only on some networks.

A week later, I tried to connect to a number of public and private WiFi networks of different types with limited success. Most importantly, I am able to connect to my home network, but not to the public networks in my college or city libraries. At one point, the Office for my college indicated that my WiFi adapter is one of a handful of cards on the list of incompatible devices to their network. As it was to buy the laptop in the first place, I am extremely frustrated.

I turned to the support pages of HP for a solution. I considered a update driver despite the use of the HP Wizard to keep abreast on all software downloads and updates. To my dismay, product for the Pavilion DV7-3165DX page lists of Broadcom WiFi adapter, which does not correspond to my hardware (Atheros AR9285). What's worse, is that the manufacturer's website offers no driver downloads to customers that its site is adapted directly to product manufacturers.

At this point, I'm increased and not sure what to do. I am already attached to this laptop. Apart from the war with his fingerprints on its black and shiny chrome surfaces shiny, the problem with the Atheros WiFi card is the only problem that I had. I hate having to go through the ordeal to return, and I do not think that this problem requires the sending of the product to HP for repair. Furthermore, I believe that if it came down to one of those, I simply return the product and find my way to another product by other manufacturers in total.

This certainly isn't the experience I had hoped with my first purchase of HP.

    Any suggestions?

I have the same question... However with me the solution wasn't in the pilot. I spent 3 hours on the phone with technical support, try to understand.

What it comes down to say that Atheros AR 9285 is a shi * ty wireless card. It supports 802.11n Protocol, but only 2.4 GHz (the same as the b/g frequencies). My Cysco wireless router was broadcasting 5 GHz Wireless-N and AR 9285 was not able to detect it. Once I changed the router settings to allow 2.4 GHz Wireless-N Networking, the Atheros card was able to connect under the Protocol N. However, the maximum speeds of 2.4 GHz card are slower than 5 GHz card.

I wish they would give an option to choose what wireless card to install in my laptop. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I'm always done what they me screwed on.

  • Message AC adapter on some units of dv6 and dv7 AMD

If you have recently purchased a HP Pavilion dv6 - 6 c 00 Entertainment Notebook or a HP Pavilion dv7 - 6 c 00 Entertainment Notebook, you see a message that says that you need to plug in an adapter to power sector higher for maximum performance.

These units are provided with, and use a 65 Watt AC adapter that is right for your device.

To solve the problem with the message coming up please download & install the latest version of the BIOS (f.17 or higher) of HP.com

You can do this in two ways:

    1. Go to HP.com, click on Support & drivers.

Enter your model number or product number Note: it is important that you enter the model number right or product to the product you have purchased. Here is a link to a document online if you need assistance or conclusive.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00033108

After you enter the model number or product & select "search".

Choose the 64-bit Microsoft Windows 7 & Select next option

Scroll to the BIOS section and verify that this is the version of the BIOS F.17 or higher, then download & after downloading select install and follow the instructions.

    2. the other method is to use HP Support Assistant to download & updated the Softpaq BIOS for you.
Here is a link to a document on the use of HP Support Assistant, just choose the section to 'Maintain' updates.
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01916574

    Thank you.

Hello, I need to be clear that what I posted is just for the series mentioned, which are models newer dv6 and dv7 AMD.

It is common to have several different possible root causes that have identical or similar symptoms.

The important thing to remember is that if you have one of the listed model series and you see a message on your power adapter and its performance being capable of falling food, you can follow the directions and update your BIOS.

HP already made factory on laptops made after we released the BIOS.

For other models, older, different processors etc there is a comprehensive document on the subject that I put a link below.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00363266

Of course, it is good advice to ensure you have the latest version of the BIOS for your laptop, whatever the model.

  • DV7-6195us, a 15mm high hard drive adapt?

    I have a laptop DV7-6195us.

I want to upgrade the hard drive in the drive Bay Second to a Western Digital WD20NPVT, 2 TB hard drive. This drive is 15mm high. My current drives are 9.5 mm in Bay 1, 12.5 mm in bay 2.

The larger hard drive will fit inside the bay, with or without secondary hard drive bay changing? If the change is necessary, what is involved for the mod?

    Thank you.

    Dave

    Dave1290,

    Here are the specifications of your HP Pavilion dv7-6195us Entertainment Notebook computer. Here is the HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide for your computer. According to the "maintenance and Service Guide", Page 6 - Chapter 1 - "Product Description", only the following drive formats are supported;

    Hard drives - Supports 6.35 - cm (2.5 in.) 12.7 mm hard drives (.50in), 9.5 mm (. 37-in) and 7.0 mm (. 28 - in.) thick

According to the information above, the answer is that a 15mm disc does not fit into your computer. Change can allow the reader to adapt, but could compomise the drive and/or computer. I wouldn't recommend any change to this effect.

    Hello

I wonder about the issues I'm having with my pc.

The hp coolsense does not seem to make any difference in my laptop

more heating problems.  I checked the forum topics that could help, but none seem to really work.

My laptop came originally with windows 8 installed but I reinstalled another OS several times now, and I'm

very well, but now it doesn't make a difference.  My fan is running whenever I'm playing games, and it warms up very quickly.

The main problem is when I'm playing games, but I suffer from performance problems when you play because of this.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello StuG,

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
