Adapter of storage latency Metrics

Hello

I notice some read latency in most of my guests showing a maximum of 19 ms, as high as 31 ms, the runtime currently around 3-7 ms.  Is this acceptable?  For some reason, I feel like they are normally less than that.

You can set only acceptable.  For some, 19 is excellent, for some applications, the application might as well be down.

Very generally,.<15 ms="" averages="" with="" occasional="" spikes="" to="" 20-30ms="" would="" be="" pretty="">

  • Foglight for virtualization - Standard Edition - storage latency

    Hello

I would like to know how to tell the difference between the latency of storage on different data warehouses - rather than having the same threshold at all.

The default settings suits us well on our warehouses of data production, but we have some data warehouses where 200ms is no problem and would like to have that reflected in foglight to avoid SPAM-alerts.

    Best regards

    Hello

There are probably 2 ways to handle this, if it's that the first option will be faster to implement a large number of data warehouses:

1 change the rule and put a condition on the name of the store of data and comparison with a different value for data warehouses where this latency is different.

    2. When you look at the rule condition there is usually some kind of variable, something like datastoreLatency.warning/critical/fatal or something similar. When you go to administration > manage registry variables, you can find your variable and edit and brought it. To have a different value for data warehouses where you want other Scope values

Press next and choose the right database and set a value for it

  • storage adapter details esx guest

    Hallo,

In esx 3.51 you can see in the CR if you look at the configuration of a host esx, the adapter of storage of details.

Is the a commando for this at the prompt of esx that gives you the same information as that posted here

    THX

You can use esxcfg-vmhba and esxcfg-mpath - l to give you information about the adapter.

For more details, use esxcfg-info with a grep.

    Try "esxcfg-info | grep-A10 FileSystem"for concise information, or" esxcfg-info | grep-A50 FileSystem"If you want a lot of details.

  • Custom report for several Datastore latencies

    Hello

I would like to create a report from the latancy VMware Storage model, but have the ability to account for the multiple datatstores. I need to create a new report template to do this, or do I have to create a Service with the data store and to report on this service?

The only option I seem to get a store of data one selection.

    Thanks in advance.

    Giles program

    Hi Giles

You use WVE 7.1 or earlier? I remember that the VMware storage latency report could run for the storage of personal data.

From WVE 7.2, you should be able to run against all data warehouses. Keep in mind the report displays only with latency data warehouses.

WVE 7.2 should be available in a few weeks.

    I hope this helps.

After two weeks of use, we have not seen any problems with the adapter of storage devices.

This storage adapter works as OK on 6.2.0 vROps as he did with 6.1.0.

  • At what level is the store of data latency measured?

    Hello

I have a question about latency of data store. I see that, generally, 20 to 30 ms latency limit before having the performance issue, but at what level is this limit? It is the seat of the latency of the VM? See vsphere?...

In Vcops, when I select a data store and access operation - details see read/write latency: see comments AVG or device AVG? (see image below)

When I select a VM in Vcops to see the latency time "of virtual machine", what is the difference between latency vDisk and the VM latency data store?

    Latences_Datastore_2.JPGLatences_Datastore_3.JPG

I know there are a lot of questions in one thread, thank you in advance to those who take the time to answer.

As esxtop counters, you have different counters to measure different parts of the stack. If you have latency at a disk level your queues will be filled and reflected. Latency of disk order is good enough to pick up underlying storage latency, but it depends what resource you are watching. The attributes derived from 'latency' exist here and there which are calculated based on the type of storage/etc to simplify your life and give you one place to search.

When you start to look at the latency of the queue, you must keep in mind that focuses only on the queue. Take a look at the Duncan article (ESXTOP - bricks yellow) on it and your questions will probably be kept clear with regard to what are the bits/s and for the disk counters.

  • Tecra 8100 - no sound except in mic!

    I have a Tecra 8100 Windows XP.

I can't get sound on the speakers or the headphones emitted by the computer, such as beeps, CD, etc. But if I have to reactivate the microphone, I can hear through the headset, ensure that the microphone picks up (there are a few comments without microphones, proving that the speakers work physically). All volume controls are the maximum and reactivated. All devices are enabled and correctly selected in sound control panels.

    Hello

A good questions and I never heard of this topic which s...

I think the fist, you should start to update the audio driver of your laptop. Therefore, you can see the Toshiba site for an update:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Before installing the latest version, you must remove the old version first and reboot the laptop.

Maybe a reinstall of Windows with the Toshiba recovery disc could also be useful and in the worst case, it s only a hardware malfunction and it must swap the motherboard. :(

  • PowerEdge Raid700 in RD540 with ESXi Thinkserver

    Hello

    I'll put up a hypverisor 5.5 ESXi update 2 on a lenovo RD540. There is a RAID700 controller.

I use 3 HARD drive in a RAID6 configured with the tool of the bios (Mega RAID LSI)

I don't see the virtual disk, not the adapter of storage or physical disks. If one lose a disc ESXi does not know, I hear only the PIF from the server.

  • IOPS / s report vFoglight

    Hello

I'm looking to create the IOPS / s vFoglight report. Having read that there is a v-Bundle1 cartridge that is available that adds this functionality.

The link to the v-Bundle1 does not.

Anyone know where I can download this cartridge?

or is it all the same to generate IOPS / s box report

    Hi Shindemayur,

Foglight for virtualization Enterprise Edition (former vFoglight) has this capability out of the box.

Try to create a custom, report by selecting all the virtual machines, select the table display, then add the parameters you need. I used:

    • Name
    • IOPS / s storage/Datastore - metric

Then hit run and I was able to see the report.  Link

    I hope this helps,
