  Tuesday a finer adjustment and more windows updates.

  Today, Wednesday, right off the bat I installed another Windows update.  Update has been installed, computer shut down, restarted, then the computer stopped at step 1 of 3 @ 97%.  I went for half an hour to come back to an error screen telling me I had a corrupted file and to reinstall Vista and using my factor disc repair system.  I wasn't allowed this option.

  I subsequently through trying different restarts that File:\Windows\system32\winload.exe has been corrupted or damaged or missing Windows update attempt.  Given that I had my Windows disk that I was never worried before making a boot disk.  I/we (family of 6) do not have the financial means to purchase recovery discs, go to a tech help.  We are ourselves.  Can someone help me out here?  Are all my personal details on my laptop, a lot of money and time tied up in programs, I can't access.

  With all this, if I have to reinstall windows I better upgrade to a 32-bit on a 64-bit?  This will cause problems with existing programs? I see a noticeable improvement in speed?  I checked and I can't change to 64-bit.

  Since you have a Lenovo, you can try to get to WinRE among advanced startup options (f8) and performa than a system restore or if you must organize a drive to install Windows Vista full version and try to perform a system restore in Windows recovery environment and check if that helps.

  I had a few difficulties to read on your screen shots, because they understood the entire screen and were reduced in size and resolution when it is inserted here.

  These sound like some background process would use a lot of CPU performance and as a result some delays could appear in audio playback.

  In your case I check the process in the Task Manager tab and check which process locks the CPU.
  Then, you can google for it this process in order to get more details about that maybe it could be disabled...

• Sudden Lagginess / be minced, after a year of no problem

  We thank you for taking a minute of your time and the search/display on my problem. I am in desperate need of fixing this sudden ground being. OK, so I've had my computer for about a year now (get inside) and it handled like a dream. All of a sudden a week there are around every 5/10 min it starts to become very choppy and laggy (takes about 1 1/2 min) after the lagginess disappeared, then it works for about 5/10 minutes and it does again. It happens on all games I have, offline and online. I tried several things after doing some research forum. Some things that I've done so far are updated video card and windows drivers. Uninstall and reinstall most of the games. I also checked the use of process in the Task Manager (the only thing i saw is the dwm process was high, sometimes but not more than 5% of the cpu). I found nothing extraordinary so I clean installed my original image, with formatting the C drive without restoring all my previous files. Also, it does not solve the problem. I also tried to run multiple games in compatibility mode with several different versions of windows and nothing. I'm pretty much with the menu windows and settings, and I'm stumped. Please if you could give me some ideas of what else to check or review I'd be very happy. I'm sorry if this post is hard to read, I'm not used to post on the forums.

  Late last night, I started the PC to go online.  Shortly after, I was invited by Windows update to restart.  So I closed off everything and rebooted, except that I kept scheduled analysis of McAfee, which I set up for Fridays.  I have McAfee Total Protection, which includes VirusScan.  That the PC would shut down, there was a message on the screen of McAfee who said, essentially, stop this scan before restarting.  I'm paraphrasing - I didn't write down the exact message.  After reboot, I started again the background anti-virus scanning.  After a few minutes, I received the following message:

  Order McAfee VirusScan Scan - Are asked to work and was closed. A problem with the application to stop functioning properly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.
  I have not received a solution of Windows.  I completely uninstalled McAfee Total Protection, following the instructions of McAfee, then reinstalled.  Everything went very well with these processes.  I have yet to receive an indication of the McAfee software that something is wrong.  After the reinstallation, I tried a scan, but got the same error message as above after a few minutes.  It does not occur immediately, analysis continues for about 5 minutes, then abandoned.

• Windows XP Home, black screen after loading screen (seemingly unique problem)

  Hi all

  I am trying to upgrade to service pack 3 Windows XP home on my old computer from eMachines T2838 and experiences a @# *! a time to do it. This is the third time in 2 days I had to wipe my HD and re - install XP, because of some problem installing updates which has damaged the operating system.

  Here's my current situation.

  Yesterday, after the failure of the HD for the second time (computer got stuck "performing cleanup" on SP2, forced a reboot, got a restart loop after, would not load Windows) I installed XP, update to SP2, then downloaded the service pack real itself. He has installed fine and asked me to restart.  I respected that, and the computer restarted. As soon as the "Loading" screen popped up, I knew that something had gone wrong.  When I started on the desk, I was stuck in 640 x 480 w / 4 - bit color graphics mode. Could not be set. So, I thought, okay, let me reboot Windows and see if he "rediscovered" the integrated video card. Well, I restarted, and the "loading screen jumped into the appropriate color mode / resolution, so I thought that I was in the green."  Well, after that, all I get is a black screen. No message 'No signal!' or anything like that.  Even tried a few instructors that I have. Looked around online, has seen the references to "Last known good Configuration" 'safe Mode' etc etc.

  Something has exhausted all of your storage space on the hard drive.  A repair of xp installation would not do that, it removes everything and then re-copy the files of the system with fundamental changes to the hardware configuration as determined by the installation program.
