AirPrint on HP Envy

I have a HP Envy 100 printer and it works perfectly, except with the ipad.  When I got it, it would not have worked at all.  He would find the printer, but when I would try to print something, he would say 'contact printer' and then just hang out.  Then I downloaded the new firmware for the printer, and it worked like a dream... for about a week.  NOW, when I launched an impression of the ipad, nothing happening... no error message, no snap, no nothing.

Frankly, this isn't the end of the world, b/c it works very well with our laptops (knocking on wood as I speak to you), but it's really annoying and I would appreciate any can someone give advice.

Thank you!

Restart your router, the printer and the iPad, and then try again.

    Hey @Mossy284,

Welcome to the Forum from HP Support.

I see that you are unable to print via AirPrint with your ENVY 120 HP e-all-in-one printer.  I would like to help.

You have confirmed that your printer is connected to your wireless network?  Note that AirPrint will not work if for example your printer connected to a network of comments and the iPhone or the iPad is connected to your main network.  Button on the front panel of the printer the wireless icon and make sure that it is connected and displays an IP address.  If this isn't the case, run the Wireless Setup Wizard to restore connectivity.  If you are connected, but find that AirPrint works always do not, powercycle your equipment as explained below:
  • Cannot print from my apple AirPrint on my hp envy

I had this problem before my apple AirPrint won't talk to my envy of hp and do not print

Hi @boonwis1950 and welcome to the Forums of HP!

What model HP Envy do you have?

I would recommend that you try power cycling your network. This implies the powering of the device you use AirPrint with, turn the printer off, unplug the router for 30 seconds. After you reconnect the router, wait for the lights to all back to normal before you turn on the printer and the Apple return device.

If you are still not able to print, what happens? You get an error? No further details would be great, thanks

Hello @Northy62, thank you very much for your answer.

It looks like a problem with the permissions of a MAC disk. Try the below mentioned steps.

    • Follow this document to completely uninstall the printer software: http://hp.care/2cKwLyC
    • Also reset the printing system, as explained in the above message. (Do not add the printer)
    • Go to disk utility by pressing "Control + space" to open the Spotlight search, type "Disk utility" and press ENTER. You can also click on the Launchpad icon on your dock, click on the folder 'Other' and click disk utility.
    • Select the system partition of your Mac - usually "Macintosh HD". Click on the button 'Verify disk permissions' and wait until the process is complete.
    • Now click on repair disk permissions to check for problems and fix them automatically.
    • Restart your MAC and then go to http://hp.care/2d9xwkW to download and install the printer.

Please let me know if it works for you. Good luck!

  • HP Envy 5535: priting iphone 6

How can I get my HP Envy 5535 to print from my iphone6?

    Your knowledge is much appreciated

Envy 5535 is an Airprint printer. See the article below to print your iPhone using active Airprint printer:
    https://support.Apple.com/en-in/HT201387

To use AirPrint printer with Wi - Fi network, make sure printer is connected to the same network as your iOS device. Then select the AirPrint printer in your favorite application and you're ready to print.

  • HP envy 4500: direct printing without having to change the wifi to printer

To print on a HP Envy 4500 from an Air iPad with iOS8, should I switch my network wifi to the printer whenever I want to print something?
For example through my email, there are several emails, each with an attachment that I I want to print. I choose my network WiFi, open the email attachment, return to wifi-changing the settings of printer-go back to the document and print it. Wait for it to print. To return to the e-mail, I return to settings-wifi-changes in my next email open network. Then go through the process of return to the printer.
There must be a simpler way to use "direct print", but when I try to print in the document, he says "no printer found AirPrint."
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello CdnCreekers,

It seems to me that you print to the printer WiFi Direct printing option. There is an easier way...

To begin with, I would turn off WiFi directly from the front panel of the printer > select direct WiFi, then turn it off.

I assume you already have your printer connected to your wireless network, if that's the case, then you just need to print from your iPad. The iPad must be on the same network as the printer to use Apple's Airprint wireless.

WiFi Direct is a great option for guests to use, but you don't need to have it on in order to print wirelessly on your printer.

    Help

    Hi @karenjoygreen,

Thank you for joining the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are unable to scan with your HP Envy 4500 printer. I'd be happy to help you and don't forget to come back to this thread and check "Accept as Solution", if I have successfully helped solve you the problem. If you want to say 'Thank you' to my effort to help, click on the "thumbs up" to give me a Kudos.

You are unable to scan because the driver of Airprint support printing only, do not scan. It is possible that an Apple update he could change.

To resolve this problem, it must add the printer using the HP driver.

Fix permissions of the drive on the Mac:

    1. Close all applications.
    2. In the Apple menu, click OK, click Applications, and then click utilities.
    3. Double-click disk utility.
    4. Highlight your hard drive / partition on the left.
    5. Click on check and then repair disk permissions.
    6. Restart the computer.

    Reset the printing system:
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer deleted can be re-added later by clicking the sign plus (+) symbol.

    1. Click on the Apple icon and then click on System Preferences.
    2. Click on Printers & Scanners.
    3. Make a right click (or Ctrl + click) in the left white side panel, and then click Reset Printing System.
    4. Click OK to confirm the reset.
    5. Type the name and the correct password.
    6. Click OK to reset the printing system.

    Add the printer:

    1. Then click the + to add the driver, select the printer (you may need to click the drop down menu to select the name of the printer).
    2. Then click the Add button. Do not add driver AirPrint.
    3. Now, try to scan the image.

Hope that answers your question. Please reply to this message with the results. Thank you for posting!

  • HP Envy 120 no scan no option on Yosemite

Try to get a replacement HP Envy 120 configured with Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.   Before installing the version of the software from the HP site, I had a visible scanning tab in the preferences for the previous printer system.

  • HP 4500 Envy: "HP Envy 4500' prayer or do not feel

Hello, I had a recurring problem with my HP Envy 4500 while trying to print double-sided PDF files. When I print the PDF with Adobe Reader, it seems to print fine, but later I realize that certain lines were left while the rest of the text printed fine. I am printing the child math book, and because it seemed that the page was printed very well but I knew that more late missing things in the page (after that I had already paid to have the spiral it all related )

Switch to Mac preview to print the PDF, I don't have the problem of the lines being omitted, BUT usually only about half of the document will be printed before you cancel itself, or starts printing the wobbly pages. For example, last night I printed 100 pages double sided very well and then it suddenly cancelled work. When I sent it to print again, it would do only a few pages (refused to double-sided more) and they all had this Burgundy/green/purple bar at the top.

I turned it all off last night, came back this morning and it does the same thing. I installed the new ink, downloaded the latest drivers, updated all the software, restart the computer, and it always does. This happened to me before and for some reason it will stop eventually and print what I want, but in the meantime I'm wasting a LOT of paper, a lot of ink and a lot of money because I pay on the instant the ink program page. It's extremely frustrating. Any suggestions?

Have you installed the HP software from a disk or download it (look in your Applications folder)?

    If so, uninstall it.

Then download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907

    Restart your Mac.

    Now, reset the printing system:

-Go to System Preferences > print & Scan
-Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - This will remove ALL your printers!
-Select the sign more to add a printer. Select the default tab on the top of the window. Search for the printer, select it, and then beside the dropdown 'Use', select the model of the printer (not AirPrint). Wait for the 'Add' button becomes available. Until it clicks.
