I recently purchased the Alienware r2 x 51 since the Dell, all etc updates website So it is on Windows 8 or 8.1, whatsoever, in any case I went to watch to change the light on my computer system and could not understand how do, I went to google to help as always and he said it was a program called AlienFX, but no program with any similar name was found on my computer , I was wondering if there is a new program for new computers or if it is not compatible with windows 8 or if I am the intruder and just do not have it?
Help, please and thank you. :)

The link that I sent is for version 3.5, you must use the first option of download (File Format: hard drive). You can also use the resource provided with computer DVD.

  • Alienware AlienFX Alpha

I got my Alpha a couple of days.  Had no keyboard or mouse the first day I played just some games on Steam.  I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I'm very please see far with Alpha.  After that I connected the receiver for the keyboard and mouse wireless I was given the charge of the Windows option.  Which also works beautifully.  But now, after that the machine is switched on my alien head and the corner of the console turned on stop after it is boot up.  The lights go out just a little matter if I am in the Alienware UI or Windows and whether or not I have the receiver plugged wireless keyboard.  How can I fix it?  I like the lights on so I know when the unit is turned on or not.

Hi, I had a similar problem where the two lights AlienFx would begin glowing as soon as I turned on the console but they would go dark after starting in the interface user of Alpha. To fix everything I had to do was to put manually the console mode 'sleep' via the menu interface user Alpha Power-> sleep and then wake him. The lights worked again since.

In my view, that the cause for me was that the console is in mode 'sleep' when I lost power, and the problem with the lights started to happen the next time that I put on (after the power was restored). I think there is a problem with the user of Alpha interface where he tries to 'know' the status in which lighting AlienFX should be in, and sometimes he gets bad.

  • Alienware 18 - need help with cooling

I thought to upgrade my GPU to the latest graphics card from NVIDIA and also get a processor adapted to go with it. But as there is no upgrade for the motherboard, I face the problem of overheating and damage my computer.

    (1) I would appreciate any help and advice you can give me on how to prevent my system overheating.

    (2) are fans in the 18 AW dimmable-up? If Yes, can you recommend some?

    (3) is it possible to recover the coolant in an 18 AW?

    (4) can you recommend me a good external cooler for a 18 AW?

There is no way to upgrade the fans and no way to install a cooling liquid.  An air cooler is the best you can do.

The fastest rest for laptop 980GTX - format the video card - these are available from specialists in the MXM format, but run about $1 K each, so it's not exactly an inexpensive upgrade.

A standard USB cooling pad will work fine.

  • (Redirected) Alienware Aurora R4 help

My Aurora was bought in 2013, I have no guarantee, I need at least to know if anyone has had or knows what this problem is. I left my computer on at night, I did several times and never had any problems, but this time I was awakened by the high-speed rotating fans. Tired I simply cut off the computer. I wake up the next morning and whenever I try to put on the fan runs at full speed and nothing happens, monitor, keyboard, mouse, nothing. So I unplug the drill rig, hold the power button to do the thing, sorry I forgot what it's called. This time he lights up for a split second then turns off. I know that's not the power supply cause I tested it. I tried to do the reset cmos and nothing thing. Someone please before considering anyone I would at least like to know what the problem is. Thanks in advance.

  • Windows 10 AlienFX unable to switch fast profiles

Minor problem after update to Windows 10 - the Alienware AlienFX program is no longer able to make the quick switch of color profiles in the right click menu of the system tray.  Changing profiles directly through the main application user interface works very well.

When you try to make a quick change, an error dialog box appears with the following text:

Access to the path 'C:\Users\\Documents\AlienFX\Themes\Quick Change.ath' is denied.

It seems that there may be some differences between Win7 and Win10 authorization, but do not know what would need to be updated to fix this.  Are there plans for an update of the application itself to support Win10?

No help from Dell or Microsoft, I found the problem here.  I'd be willing to bet that you are also impossible to save all the files in your directory "C:\Users\" either, including Documents, photos, movies, etc. subfolders.  The problem is actually related to OneDrive, whose Win10 installation process actively encourages users to activate.  Unfortunately, doing so also live all your folder permissions and the only fire only way to solve the problem includes disabling OneDrive, and manually adding you return to the list of users who are allowed access to your own record.

This is related to the thread here:

You don't have to do the full procedure, described in the post, just the steps for disabling OneDrive and add you to the list of permissions for the folder.  I checked that this solves the problem of permission that has also plagued the AlienFX program.

We NEED Alienware to push Microsoft on a fix for this problem; they won't listen to individuals to make a priority to get a fix.  Absolutely, cela MUST come from their OEM partners.  It seems that Alienware has decided on a a response under the strategy of Microsoft here unfortunately, same wire so I did not have faith that everything will come from this.

I strongly urge you, if you have a system 'supported' to call their helpline and make specific reference to this thread. This question needs visibility, and we need support from Dell/Alienware to get this problem.

    All,

I've been following this BSOD issue related to SupportAssist and went up to declare and work with PC-DOCTOR to try to find a solution to this (i.e. gave them crash logs, memory.dmp file, etc.). Long story short, I got a response back from them email 24/03/16, who informed me that a new version of SupportAssist would become available on 03/25/16.

Guess what? I think THEY FINALLY FIXED! I downloaded SupportAssist version 1.2.6793.01, and ran Express Mode, Mode of Stress and successfully expanded Mode! No BSOD. No crashes. No errors. I ran various scenarios:

-Ran immediately after DLing without rebooting. Worked successfully without BSOD.
-A ran after the closure of my lip and let the computer laptop 'sleep' for a few hours. Returned, pulled up SupportAssist and once more ran all tests without problem and tested the other menus, options, etc. within the stability programme. Everything is good.
-Stop the laptop; left for a few hours. He pulled up, started and re-run again all 3 tests and played around with various options/menu/etc. All successful. No BSOD.

My test is in only 3 days. I'll give you another update as soon as I went a week with a stable system. However, all this looks like promising review before each of us w / this question could not keep same SupportAssist on our laptop because it would lead to term to BSOD if we ran it or not.

If it is true fixed - YESSSS! All the hard work, frustration and patience has finally paid off for us.

    Hello

Uninstalling Windows Update KB2871389 and then put it back solves the problem for most people who have tried.

You can uninstall it by going to programs and features and by clicking on "View installed updates" at the top to the left. You will need to scroll the list to find it. Then right-click on it to get the option uninstall.

You can then reinstall it through Windows updates, or do a search for directly download and install it.

  • [HELP] Installation of Linux as well as Windows 8.1 on Alienware x 51 R2

    Hello!

I tried to install Debian with Win 8.1. I always install it, but in the bios or anywhere, I couldn't start in it. I've never worked on the UEFI BIOS, so I don't know how it works. I have the latest version of the BIOS version AO7. My startup mode is set to UEFI, Secure Boot disbled. Please install advice how I should properly Debian complies with Win 8.1. Thank you in advance.

    Pepincz

Well, this is the story how I installed GNU/Debian-test on my new DELL Alienware X 51. Google isn't much help here. In order to better read this to the end before trying to destroy your PC completely and all the data you have on it.
What I did re-score available SSD/HDD in most convinient medium. As I had 256GB SSD 1 TB HDD choice is quite obvious. Cut into halves. First half of SSD total rest under Win 8.1 control. Remaining will be used as swap 2GB and for / partition. HARD drive last half is given to / home. As ' / home users "will join me very soon. All the foregoing said must be done in Windows itself. Run to open string "diskmgmt.msc". You can launch disk management tool. Be very careful at this point, you decide to reduce your Win space. Leave enough to charge the couple of your favorite games. That will be enough. Next step - install UNetbootin. For this reason that you prepare better USB key. Mine was USB 3.0. It was a quick installation!
UNetbootin (unetbootin.sourceforge.net) is a program that connects to Win breast. It is especially explicit. In our case - PC, we need to install with Testing_HdMedia_x64 flavor Debian distribution. In addition, I downloaded an .iso (cdimage.debian.org/.../iso-dvd) image that Alienware X 51, should be 'amd64' - strict test! This image selected as for Standart ISO disc Image during the "UNetbootin" put in place. Then choose FAT32 - to format USB key (right?) and continue with the installation of the bootable USB. It will take time. Restart from Windows with of course that you are about to say goodbye! (And in some cases to all your files too!) But not this time. Press and hold down the F2 key. Restart takes you to the initial start screen where you must unplug 'Secure Boot Control'. With her, "Load Legacy OPROM" is disabled. It is ok. Then change the USB boot sequence start everything first. He'll go like 1-USB, HDD, 2 - nd UEFI:Windows Boot Manager and so on. Revive USB boot with your USB stick prepared by UNetbootin. Debian installation starts in mode UEFI. If this isn't the case - all over again from beginning. You certainly missed something! I describe the installation process. Nothing in it except for one point. As soon as you have finished your partitioning and save changes on hard all your good and bad deeds will be curved stone for centuries and you can't reverse it back! I always note my partitions by hand writing on paper before and AFTER the changes are made, but not yet saved. In this way, you will have right to complete partitioning table at your service with necessary drive letters, partition types and all that stuff. Also, you can cancel and dive to Win harbor without saving changes to the installation process. Create 2 GB of swap, / partition where it should be and do not forget to isolate/home the rest. It's like I do five years of use of Debian. You'll see why, after five years. Finally, make any changes and write them to disk. This is crucial so think blink of an eye! After that, nothing could save you. During installation you can sit and relax. My case it took me 25 minutes or less. And he had no problem with GRUB-loader! If installing GRUB went right you go to start your new system of last page of Debian-Installer. Don't forget to pass changes to the initial screen by pressing F2 during this restart! Bring back only this time boot sequence. 1st boot will be 2nd UEFI:debian - UEFI:USB and so on. When saving the changes, you should get ready to have fun in the world of software Open with Win 8.1 as a backup option which I use less and less these days ;)

  • (Redirected) Help w / Alienware area 51 desktop computer - no post after upgrading to 10

    Hey people,

I wasn't sure if this was the place to post, thought I would give it a shot.

My alienware 900 mouse seemed to be working/not working.  I've updated the drivers from support.Dell.com and no help.  I then went to the driver download section.  I already had the A10 bios.  but the version on the site of Dell, said that bios A10 was updated in may 2016, so I thought I would try to update the bios.

I got the bio "completed successfully" to update and then restarted my computer by guest.  Since then, the computer won't post.

My steps of troubleshooting so far:

-disconnected the supply, held down the power for 30 seconds button

    -reset the cmos battery

-lit, tried to hit f12 repeatedly

-lit, tried to hit F2 repeatedly.

Still no luck.  I'm out of Warrarty on this unit.   I called Dell, has transferred 5 x, finally they me transferred to spare parts and a card mother refurb replacement is $351... That's a lot for a 5 years old machine.

so... (1) any chance there is a troubleshooting step to do, I have not tried?   I don't know how to reset the EProm

    (2) replacements less expensive motherboard out there?  too many choices on ebay to find out which. I have the service tag #, but who can not tell the motherboard there is part number.

    (3) is there an appeal from Dell - as was the update of the Bios A10 somehow stopped my work computer.  its an expensive system and I'm regretting upgrading the Bios.

    Hoping to get suggestions.

    Thank you.

  • Laptop Alienware 17 HELP?

OK, I've put my service tag support to find out what 'R' model I have the Alienware 17 laptop and it still didn't tell me! I searched the internet for more than 2 weeks trying to find out my model with no luck at all. I don't know if it's R1, R2, R3, etc., or if it is a model of R anything. Can someone help me with this. Here's what it says when I put my service tag # to:
    "Computer model Alienware 17"

Then it gives me all of my components. I'm under I5 - 4210M, 2.6, 37W CPU. I am trying to see if I can buy the graphic amplifier for my laptop but have no idea if I'm compatible or not. Help? Thank you everyone and everybody if you could help us!

Unfortunately, you have the Alienware 17 - R1, which has no port Alienware graphics required at the rear amplifier.

  • (Redirected) Alienware x 51-replace defective HARD drive help Pls...

OK, so my x 51 (R1) Blue I screened yesterday and I did my head in an attempt to resolve this... Finally I threw in the towel and decided to factory reset the Player - did not help.  Bought a new drive today and I tried to do a clean of win10 install-I don't have a recovery disk so I used my drive recovery my laptop (XPS-15) and now my office (x 51) think that this is a laptop... so when I go into settings it shows me the CPU in my laptop and my laptop windows product key... This isn't good.

In the BIOS it still shows X 51, but everything on the new HARD drive shows my laptop recovery info - I thought of widows would detect the info office and adjust - clearly that has not happened.  I tried to boot my windows 10 USB (supplied with my edit on win10 I bought..) and the PC says that it does not find the HARD drive (although I say it can boot from USB...)-when I use my XPS15 USB recovery that works very well.

    So long story short.

    1. how to do a clean install of Windows 10 on my X 51? even if the system came came with Win8.

    2. clean install to win 10 show the good stuff "Alienware" on my computer that was there before?

    3. using a Win10 USB does not work - it keeps giving me the error message that says "drive HARD internal not found to fix this problem, try reinstalling the drive. No bootable devices"- is when I have the win10 USB provided with a brand new version on Windows in USB? I don't get it... to clarify the USB ONLY it recognizes is the USB of recovery I did for my XPS15 - its as it only recognizes the other dell stuff only... very frustrating

    4. How can I get my drivers for the NIC for my X 51? My xps15 has no ethernet port port has therefore had no need for drivers - so I guess that the recovery has not installed the drivers ethernet either... Cannot access the internet atm

    5. any other help to get my x 51 work as if it were would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

  • Alienware 18 - need to upgrade help

So, I recently discovered that you can now get a GTX 1080 specifications (however I have yet to find a retailer or a site that sells only the GPU). Any link to a Web site or a retailer would be nice. With such a high performance GPU I'll have a better processor as well. But I'm afraid that my laptop cooler will not be able to control the heat. Obviously, I don't want to fry my computer so confirmation on the amount of heat to a better GPU and CPU would be nice as well. Thermal paste is recommended? In addition, it would be best to get an electronic store to install components or would it be easier to install them myself (I don't trust myself enough)?
Any help at all would be appreciated.

    Classes for GPU and CPU:
    NVIDIA GTX 770M
    Intel Core i7-4700MQ

The largest manufacturer of notebooks MXM format video cards is Clevo - they provided systems to Dell for sale like Alienware and provide Sager, Falcon Northwest, AVA, Eurocom and others.

You'd probably wise to see if Dell frees a GTX1070 or 1080 to your system first - there is no guarantee it won't work at all, and with GTX970 MXM cards still sells for more than $1,000, you can bet the 1070 years will be $1,500 or more each, is not a negligible amount of money to play on the upgrade.

Eurocom sold kits of MXM modernization with the equipment required for building Clevo systems - they are trying to GTX1070 if you have $1,500 or more waiting in the wings.
