• How to combine real-time video with LabVIEW indicators so that the video can be displayed and saved with the overlay data

  Let's assume for the moment that I can find a device for which LabVIEW has the appropriate drivers.  Is it possible to combine the camera feed with digital indicator fields so that there is a video out showing the data superimposed on the live image?

  I'm talking about something like a screen of the camera where you see the camera settings are displayed on the image in the viewfinder.  Note I have one isn't about analysis of video data or somehow reading parameters of the camera to the camera.  Data would be temperatures, pressures, speeds, etc., acquired by different instruments at the same time the video is captured and processed somehow by LabVIEW.

  No problem Wildcatherder, don't let me give you an overview of the process.

  When you get a video acquisition method entry, it will be an image format. Essentially, it's a bunch of images that are updated at the speed of video capture, just like the material. There are screws express (wizard - like elements) that simplify the obtaining of images from your video source. With the drivers and measurement and Automation Explorer installed, you should be able to get at least the image.

  If you have IMAQ toolkit, I mentioned, you could just wire the reference image (a purple wire wavy) and a text input (say, a temperature that is converted to a string) in the text overlay VI and it would produce the desired effect. Without this, you will need to convert the Image into image (these are two different data types in LabVIEW) and use the image instead, editing tools (essentially replacing pixels in 2D image data). You would then update an indicator of the photo with your photo altered, if all goes well to the pace of the acquisition hardware. As I said this is less elegant and can take a certain amount of time processor. If you view these images at all and are just their routing, it should be slightly faster.

  I don't know about video production equipment, I mainly used entry Firewire or USB, the computer screen or the file data. However, if the driver exists, it should be possible, but a quick review of the functions doesn't seem to come with output functions.   I've never had a problem with just dropping the main level (make sure that the Loudness Radar is set to post fader, btw). So in your example, Yes, I turn down the master by 0.9db.

  Speaking of which, my new faster way to manage the volume on the content of the longer emissions must export just the audio format .wav temporary somewhere, then load this file in hearing and its volume tool to know the LKFS level. Then, I take whatever number I get and set the main volume in first to do no matter what level the station/deaf network/tv customer needs. It's a heck of a lot faster, since the hearing can analyze loudness faster than real-time. On 30 seconds, commercials, using the Loudness Radar in Premiere Pro's no big deal, but dealing with half-hour TV series, with the help of hearing on export to .wav is much faster.

• Real-time execution trace toolkit to optimize the Labwindows/CVI code

  I am trying to optimize a code in real-time in LabWindows/CVI by minimizing the time of each section of the code is taking and find bottlenecks in the code. I check this time using the real-time execution trace toolkit.

  However, I just found it seems to be a constant error when you use the tool of real-time execution trace.

  When I put the traceviewer 'start' and 'stop' right after the other, I get around shift schedule 9us. It seems that the CPU will in some "idle" after the start of the trace mode, or maybe it's the time of communication or something.

  Generally, you might be better off picking off the clock at the beginning and end of what you want to track. RTETT my introduce overhead that becomes difficult to quantify... Which is what you probably already see. The debug mode will also implement a ton of overhead. Then... Destemming of the clock in release mode will probably give you you the best estimate.

• Starting process in real time

  I have 2 questions related to LabVIEW Real-time. I'm using LabVIEW 2010 Service Pack 1. We have a PXI-8186 controller running the embedded real-time.

  (1) I have my software written to communicate using TCP/IP. The real time software runs the listener 'TCP create' then the 'wait on TCP listener"to look for the connections of the computer. This works well in the LabVIEW project. I then build the executable and deploy it in the system in real time, set up to run during startup. I put the target name to be my program name "Test program.rtexe" rather than "startup.rtexe". I don't know if that makes a difference. I saw the other files in the startup folder of the system in real time that have been named something else. My questions are: the name possible no matter what name we want and the system in real time all programs contained in the startup folder is running or is there another method to specify the programs to be executed?

  (2) is there a way to monitor or to see what programs are running on the system in real time? As the the Task Manager on a windows system. The reason I ask, is that after I restart the PXI system and without using the program of project, I can't connect to my test program running on the system in real time. I don't know if the software is running on the system in real time, is it established that the network interface which it was assumed, etc. to determine why I can not connect with him. Any help on various methods to determine if the software actually runs would be useful.

  Finally found the problem.

  It would seem that, at least in the 2 controllers shipped we have there, controllers have a flag in the BIOS that allows you to disable the file to begin execution on the system in real time. Once I put the flag on the 'NO', everything works. The flag is named:

  'Disable the boot VI' tab 'LabVIEW RT"in the BIOS.

  It is a good option if the boot VI is damaged or was not debugged prior to deployment.

  I got Aussie help on these forums and I hope that someone will be able to point me in the right direction with this problem. I'm still fairly new to LabVIEW please bear with me.

  I work with the LabVIEW driver for the Agilent 34970 connected on a GPIB-ENET 100/1000. The device was detected and works very well. The reason why I am writing today, what I'm trying to update the list channels in real-time. Currently I need to stop the whole process in order to modify the list of channels, but due to the nature of the tests we will occur, it is important that I can add more channels I want without interrupting the ongoing trials.

  I searched the forums and tried to change control of chain of channel for "Update of the value while typing" and "limit to the only line." The motivation behind the change of the latter was so that I could change the channel list and use the ENTER key to run. I also tried to create a while loop with shift registers but construction ws so clumsy that it does no more.

  I am sure that the change must take place as soon as the control of the chain, but is not certain since the pint is so he can reset which channels to scan and which appears lower in the VI. I have attached the VI I work with; It is a slightly modified version only Advanced Scan example of the driver.

  You might have added a registry to shift, but you're not actually compare anything. You compare the value of the control to the value of the data coming from the shift register to see if it has changed. If so, change the scan list.

  If you need to have a delay after you change the scan list, then you must add the delay within the business structure that calls the VI to reconfigure the scan list. You can use the late VI period causes the delay occur after you set up the analysis using the wires of the error to force the order of execution.

  P.S. Your naming scheme for screw means that you probably use a source code control system. If so, you would be well served by taking the time to discover the source control systems and installing a.   I was looking for possibly using card NIC a10gbe (dual-port of preference) for a project I'm working on that involves a standalone that will emit a lot of data to a desktop RT LabView FPGA. I tried to look through some of the models which would require a RT Office, but have not seen who could go 10gbe, gigabit only. Doesn't I may look on a model, or are there materials that could make 10gbe on a RT controller, etc.?

  Here is an article from Developer area that lists the requirements for a PC in real-time: requirements for LabVIEW Real-time targets desktop PC.

  Under the support of the Ethernet Chipsets section it lists all chipsets ethernet you can use with different versions of LabVIEW RT. I checked those listed for LabVIEW 2009 and it seems that they are all Ethernet Gigabit controllers.  Unfortunately, LabVIEW RT support all models with 10gbe.

• File not found when you try to call a dll on LabVIEW Real Time machine

  I have a dll called "DLLRTTEST" that I wrote, and claim successfully on my host.  Now, I try to call this dll from a vi that is on my computer in real time.  Currently, I get a message 'error 7 occurred at the crux of library DLLRTTEST.vi. call function' when running

  In the attached screenshot, I try to ensure that the vi that I am running is indeed on the system in real time.  I then use a 'check if file or folder Exists.vi' to confirm that the dll that I'm about to call exists on the system in real time as well.  However, I always get an error "error 7 file not found" from the node call library feature.

  Any help is appreciated.

  Thanks again for all the responses.  As I said earlier, I had already met and solved the problem identified in the link provided by Nathand.  I had to go down to Visual Studio 2008 to go beyond this particular error, after which the app of auditor of the dll in real-time reported my dll needs to run successfully.

  I just got the phone with Jack in charge NEITHER well, and it turns out that I simply had to compile my dll in release mode.  Decommissioning of VS 2008 I got the correct version of dll (msvcr90.dll), but since I am compiling in debug mode, I found myself using msvcr90d.dll (d for debug) who doesn't have my computer in real time.

  I have the code in real-time which works OK in LabView (not the final version no doubt but I need to learn two or three other things as well).

  Now, I would like to create an executable file that I would run on some PCs with some inside monitors and control.

  I found little exercise on the development of Application (shortly): 1) create shared variables) 2 create a copy of the Vi that works and to replace the controls and monitors in it with static variable) 3 Windows creating welcome 4 VI) probably create an executable after that (step not described in the exercise).

  I'm currently stuck at step 3 with the 1950679035 error.

  Looks like a well known error, but I found no solution yet.

• Creating a Clone of VI in the real-time platform

  I wanted to create a clone of VI in time real LV on cRIO-9022 controller. I changed the properties to run VI and selected pre allocated incoming running clone.

  But I'm unable to generate the clone like this.

  I read from here, "you can configure LabVIEW to allocate or share a VI clones reentrant clone shared within a structure ofloop delayed or Timed Sequence" .

  My question is how can we create a clone of screws in the RT platform? clones are limited to Timed loops only?

  I got it, it was similar to what you do on a normal LabVIEW VI. I expect a change in the name of VI in CloneXXXX.vi, but in real time, I think that you do not have this indication.

• Real-time Application Installer

  I built two requests in real time; one for a PXI Chassi and the other for a compact field point. I wish I could send the customer updated versions of applications in real time and ask them to install them to the respective chassi/fieldpoint in the field. The customer is not the development environment. I looked around MAX, but could not find a way to do this.

  HI Kevan.  Take a look at replication system tools.  According to me, it appeared in 8.0 or more.

  We used the tools NOR as basis of our own tools of level end-user to exactly what you are

  describe (in addition to the upgrade of the OS, if necessary).

• Make a graph that is customized by using the motion of the instrument and in real time

  I am very new to LabVIEW and I need to make a graph or a table with the data being the movement of a device and the x data in real time.  I know how to get the position of the instrument information and how to put in real time for the x axis, but I have no idea how to wire those things in a graph, what type of graph to use, or what other screws I need for the y - data.  I have attached the page I'm working on that... It's kind of just a meli melo of things I thought that may be useful, but I obviously need help.  Thanks in advance.

  Have you so far in your VI, it seems you will ask some data on the location of your device on each iteration of the loop.  In this case, you can use a waveform diagram in the while loop to display these points.  Each new point will be added to the table as they come.  You can do this by writing values to the table as you reach them inside the while loop.  This link should also be able to clear up some confusion about the differences between the tables and charts in LabVIEW.
